A cozy small-town Thanksgiving featuring a wedding, a cookoff, and a murder. The Inn at Holiday Bay is a heartwarming cozy mystery series about losing everything, taking a chance, and starting again. After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.
In book 30 in the series, Georgia and Tanner plan to finally tie the knot the same week that the television station Georgia works for sponsors a Thanksgiving themed cookoff. Georgia, Amy, and chefs from three other local restaurants are asked to be judges, which turns out to be a lot more of a commitment than any of them planned for. When one of the cameramen assigned to the weeklong event goes missing, his fiancé shows up to track him down.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Evidence in the Espresso is the thirtieth book in Kathi Daley’s heartwarming Inn at Holiday Bay series. The setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. The well-plotted storyline flows smoothly, and multiple twists and red herrings in the complex mystery keep the reader engaged. Whenever I pick up one of Ms. Daley’s books, I know I’m in for a treat, and I’ve never been disappointed. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted, cozy mysteries.
After losing her husband and their infant son in a tragic accident, Abby Sullivan bought a huge old house in the charming town of Holiday Bay, Maine, without even seeing it. Once the house was renovated, she opened the Inn at Holiday Bay and found a home and a family. Abby lives in a cottage on the property with her Maine Coon, Rufus, and her terrier mix, Molly, and the inn’s newest employee, Bailey, who has moved into the second bedroom. Georgia Carter, who has also overcome obstacles in her lifetime, is the inn’s talented cook/baker and manager and has her own cable cooking show. Georgia and her Newfoundland dog, Ramos, recently moved back into Tanner Peyton’s home, and the happy couple have finalized the plans for their upcoming wedding. Jeremy and Mylie Slater and Jeremy’s young niece, Annabelle, recently welcomed Jeremy and Mylie’s first child, Danny, into their home. Colt’s niece and nephew, who are now full-time residents of Holiday Bay, seem to be adjusting to the move, and Colt’s parents sold their home and are moving to Holiday Bay. Bailey and her newborn daughter, Hazel, have settled into the guest suite in Abby’s cottage.
In this installment, Georgia is preparing to host a prime-time Thanksgiving-themed cookoff sponsored by the cable television station she works for. Five contestants, each representing a nonprofit organization, will compete for a two hundred and fifty thousand dollar grand prize to help support their cause. When Gus, a cameraman assigned to the cookoff, doesn’t appear for work, Colt is left wondering whether Gus, whose wedding is in a fortnight, merely had second thoughts and left or if something more sinister has happened.
I love the books written by this author, it's cosy mystery at its best. She's written several series; some are spin-offs from others. This is a series that created 2 further series.
Abby Sullivan was widowed at a young age. She also lost her young son in the same accident. She moved from San Francisco to Maine, where she bought a run-down seaside mansion house (sight unseen). Together with Georgia, a girl who arrived on Abby's doorstep needing a fresh start, they've worked to create a wonderful Inn where people come to stay and enjoy the area.
It's Thanksgiving, and Georgia is supposed to be getting married to Tanner. Of course, nothing goes to plan, especially when there's a cook off which Georgia is organising and judging; Tanner is called away to sort out an issue with one of the assistance dogs he trains and then a member of the crew which is filming the cook off goes missing!
Abby has recently taken a young girl, Bailey, under her wing. Bailey turned up in the area recently, frightened, and with nowhere to turn, Abby is using her connections to help her navigate her future. Bailey sees someone in the town who she recognises, and after speaking to Abby about it, comes to a decision.
Whilst each book is a standalone story, the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
If you like cosy mystery, then I highly recommend this series; in fact, all the series written by this author are as good as each other. Characters from one series appear in others, and this author is bringing out a new series which I can't wait to read, Rescue on Gooseberry Bay.
The big cooking competition sponsored by Georgia's new television station owner is about to begin. But her thoughts are with Tanner who is facing a lawsuit centered around a seeing eye dog which he personally trained. Tanner must travel to California where the legal action is taking place and has no idea how long it may take to settle the matter. Obviously they need to cancel their wedding plans until this problem is resolved. A camera man working on the set of the cooking show disappears. It looks as though Gus simply packed up and left town, but why would he do that? Colt is busy being Holiday Bay's police chief. His mother is turning Mackenzie and Tyler against Abby while she tries to run their lives. Tyler continues to get into trouble at school by starting unprovoked fights with other boys to the point where he could be permanently expelled. Abby and Colt's relationship is suffering from external challenges they are dealing with. Lots of drama as Thanksgiving quickly approaches.
Abby Sullivan moved to Holiday Bay to start over after suffering a tragedy. There she was adopted by a large Maine Coon cat named Rufus and met Georgia along with her giant dog, Ramos. The four connect as family and they open a very successful inn. Now Abby's new family is growing and she couldn't be happier. In this book, Georgia and Tanner are finally supposed to get married. Georgia is also asked to be a judge for a televised cook-off. When one of the show's cameramen goes missing, his fiancee shows up looking for him. Could something more be going on?
This is a fantastic series and this book's a prime example of why. It was well-written with well-rounded characters and a fast-paced plot. I love the sense of "found family" and deep friendship within this series. I was drawn into this captivating story and kept hooked from start to finish. The mystery was fun to solve. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series.
I like Daley’s books. I’ve read all of the books in order in this series and I’ve been reading her Gooseberry series, too, but what I’ve noticed is many of the endings are like continued dramas. The stories don’t always end at the end of the book. They’re ongoing which means we have to wait until the next book is published before we can find out the resolution. I want to know NOW what is to happen. But I suppose that is exactly what makes these reads more true to life, because things aren’t usually wrapped up right away.
Another good read!
My next book is Book 25 from A Little Leaf Creek Cozy Mystery series: “Trailed in Little Leaf Creek” by Cindy Bell.
See you in my next review. Deuces to your cabooses! ~ themoodyredhead ✨♥️✨
Amazing story. The previous one didn´t touch my heart, but this one is incredible. It's the kind of book that you can´t put down. I cried while reading some chapters and I could feel all the character´s emotions because the book is well-written. I fought the tears when Bailey hugged Abby during the wedding ceremony and I can say that Abby´s journey in this series is something else. When you find a place to be called yours and a family to love is the most important thing in life. Once you realize that the essential thing in life is love, you will believe that, in the end, everything will be fine. I am in love with this story. The bonus is the mystery that should be solved in each book (always a good one).
This has been a great series. This was a busy book with several "sub-plots" wrapped up in it. I enjoyed the book.
Amazon synopsis: In book 30 in the series, Georgia and Tanner plan to finally tie the knot the same week that the television station Georgia works for sponsors a Thanksgiving themed cookoff. Georgia, Amy, and chefs from three other local restaurants are asked to be judges, which turns out to be a lot more of a commitment than any of them planned for. When one of the cameramen assigned to the weeklong event goes missing, his fiancé shows up to track him down.
Georgia and Tanner have to postpone their wedding when Tanner must go to California to clear up an emergency effecting his dog training business. Georgia is certainly worried for him, but has her own issues to deal with since her television station is hosting a charity food competition for five chefs. When a cameraman disappears, and is later found dead, everything is turned upside down for the competition.
A charming cooking competition where the competitors each represent different charities where the cash prize goes to the charities and everything if going well until one of the cameramen doesn't show up for work one day and the search is on for him; meanwhile Tanner is being sued by a man who has one of his service dogs and is claiming the dog lead him into traffic and he got hurt so while he is rushing off the California to deal with this Georgia is left behind to cancel their wedding since he won't be here The mysteries continues but in the end it all works out. Great read.
I really enjoyed this book in the series. Tanner's predicament was very interesting. Tyler needs a swift kick in the butt and Colt's parents need to stop interfering. I was curious about who won the cooking contest, but that was never disclosed. Nice that Bailey is getting a chance to move on with her life and that Georgia and Tanner get married among their friends. I look forward to the next book in this series.
This was a good entry in the Inn series. Tanner and Georgia finally get married. Everything is turning out well for Bailey and Hazel. Colt is once again having problems with Tyler. His mother needs to back off and let Colt deal with Tyler's bad attitude and behavior. And of course the ever present murder. I must admit that I knew who the murderer was from the beginning. Still a good book.
I always love these books and generally read non stop. This one was exceptionally good. Lots of Abby and Colt time and Colt taking Abby’s side even understanding where his Mother is coming from, but I think Mrs. Wilder going a bit to far tampering with the kids minds, I think Colt will put a stop to it some time soon, hope. Now to wait for the next one.
Kathi does a great job of continuing the storyline between the different series. Lots of craziness happens that postponed the wedding and then the cook off that was planned for Georgia to host was happening. Tanner had his own crazy things happen and then of course a dead body is found. Kathi does good at writing so that you can follow the storyline.
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book compared to the last two. This one was an easy read. The cozy murder mystery was interesting, and the characters and the whole series came together. It is nice to finally see the pieces of this series of books come together in a way the imitates real life including tragedy, hardship, and love. So, well done!
Love this series. Abby is a great amateur sleuth. In this one one of the film men go missing from a cook off contest. sponsored by Georgia's TV cooking show. Follow Abby as she helps find the who done it person. Spoiler : in this one Georgia and Tanner finally get married after postponing it in the beginning in the book See what happens to have Tanner postpone it.
Enjoyed this storyline. This one was better than the last one. I sense more will happen with Bailey in future books. Not as detailed as ones in the beginning of the series - but less repetition of some details. So glad so many things had closure in this one. just seems like the solutions come fast at the end without really exploring the result.
I still really enjoy this series. They are clean, fun mysteries with great characters. I highly recommend this author to all. I am looking forward to reading more of her series in Maine.
Enjoy this wonderful book. Plenty of suspense, emotions, food and family gatherings invite you to be a part of the story. Evidence in the Espresso is just the read one needs to get in the mood for the Holidays.
I absolutely loved it! I’m so happy that things are working out! I hope for happy endings in the next book! This is a must read series! I can’t wait for the next book!
This is a great series. In this book a murder occurs, but also all the characters are dealing with many different personal struggles just like in real life.
I really love reading Kathis' books. This one I knew who the killer was pretty early, but I really loved how the storylines ended. And Colts mother needs to grow up already.
A charity cook-off hosted by Georgia brings new characters into the story
Tanner is being sued by an unscrupulous lawyer. Tanner and Georgia postpone their wedding. Abby is wondering if Colt and her will ever have a life together.
So much going on; Tanner has to deal with a lawsuit which postpones his wedding to Georgia; Georgia has to film a week of Cooking with Georgia and a cameraman goes missing and is later found dead! It's a jam packed book you won't be able to put down.
Now that was an interesting way for the staff to get into the mystery. But it's a food contest and everyone wins since it's also for charity. But then other interesting things get celebrated too! How about that wedding?
This was another fast moving and heartwarming book in this series. I love finding out what is next in the lives of the characters whose lives continue throughout each book. Also, fun trying to solve each mystery.
It’s Thanksgiving in Holiday Bay. Georgia & Tanner’s wedding plans aren’t going as expected. The cook off Georgia & Amy are judging is marred by one of the cameramen being murdered.
