Good book touching on the principles of Swedish death cleaning. I'd say the book itself was minimalist - not a lot of fluff, just straightforward explanations of how to approach the process. Also included some info on end of life documents and planning. It was easy to read and had a nice tone.
I found this book to be a super easy book to read, highlight the important steps and begin my journey into decluttering. I’m starting with my clothes, I’m sure I can be successful after reading and highlighting some awesome strategies my Ms Carlström.
I loved how many pages had descriptions so you could read if interested. I've read or listened to Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning several times ..this book was so much more informational. Can't wait to get the audio!
Having seen a lot of instagram reels taking on the concept of this book, I came in with a pretty clear idea on how it approaches personal belongings. I saw people death cleaning for themselves and some after their partners. But I was unprepared for how morbid it was in person. Good ideas though, they don’t apply to everyone.
The first half had the content I was looking for: how do Swedes handle clutter differently than Americans? What Swedish values shape the death cleaning process? The second half was boiler plate decluttering content.
The basic concept is don't leave behind your stuff that no one wants when you die. So basically declutter NOW and save your family and friends the trouble of sorting through all your junk when you're gone.
I listened to this audiobook. Super short, very repetitive. What I learned. 1. make life easier for your children, get rid of the stuff that you don't need or does not hold meaning. It does not serve you and it will only burden the family you leave behind.
What wonderful, clear, practical, no-nonsense advice. She's SO Scandinavian in her approach to life and the tone of her writing. Recommend for young and old. Much wise philosophical life choices addressed.
I made this a DNF at about 50% complete as I had yet to encounter any new information. Even had I been unfamiliar with the concept of decluttering, the style of this book was not for me.
