I lived a quiet life until the day my mother was murdered and a dark stranger showed up at my doorstep to spirit me away. He says it’s time for me to fulfill my destiny, to take my rightful place as alpha of the Thorncreek pack… except I had no idea I was a wolf shifter until now.

I reluctantly agree to journey with him to the pack’s territory in the Alaskan wilds, but I refuse to trust him. A sentiment that goes double for the handsome male who’s been leading in my absence.

My body wants Axel, but my head knows he’ll stop at nothing to keep his position of power. Soon the stirrings in my heart suggest he’s my fated mate, but even that can’t stop what’s coming.

One of us will die, and the other will rule.

I refuse to end up on either side of that bargain.

Can I somehow find a way to both claim my destiny and to change it?

A great shifter read full of mystery, suspense, murder, political intrigue and a little romance. With fascinating world building that holds your attention and a storyline that’s gripping and exciting, all is not as it seems to be and I look forward to the author revealing more in the next book.

Nothing is quite what it appeared to be, and it looks like the most important person in Shea’s life has been lying to her. Now that she has a whole new identity to come to terms with, how will Shea cope? This book has introduced me to a fascinating new world. With political intrigue, the paranormal, and a hint of romance, there’s a lot to get caught up in. To tell the truth, it’s definitely the politicking that’s holding most of my attention. Though, with a murderer on the loose, that mystery has me divided over which answers I want first. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what the next book will reveal.

Classic with a twist

Having spent time in Alaska myself drew me to this particular shifter book.

The first shifter we meet is this Lucas dude, who pressures Shea into coming to the lands of the pack where she was born. But Lucas is a total jerk, Shea knows nothing of pack life, and Shea has never sensed her wolf. A few pack members who valued Shea's mom do give her a bit of help here and there. Slowly, but surely, Shea connects to the wolf she only has brief glimpses of. Slowly, but surely, people's true natures emerge, which was intriguing.

The plot is mostly predictable, with the unpredictable parts a bonus as we learn about pack life alongside Shea. I read this, knowing how much I would enjoy Shea discovering her wolf--and I did. It was great. More than in any other "discovery" themed shifter story, Shea's experience seemed a lot more realistic and was well written. There were also enough events and comments to suggest the possibility the story could have many more layers as it develops. Meanwhile, I appreciated having a less intense book than my last read.

There remain unanswered questions at the end, but it's no surprise because not enough time has passed to sort everything out.

I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Content: Some swearing, but otherwise clean.

Happy reading!

I Found This Really Difficult To Read.

Why? It’s painfully obvious who’s responsible for the murder of Shea’s mother, and the main reason I actually went ahead to read this book was to confirm my initial thoughts. That said I really struggled through to finish the book but I don’t think I’ll be reading the rest of the series.

When the characters are incapable of any kind of logical thinking they come across as “too stupid to live” making the entire story really off putting. At one point the FMC commented on why it was foolish to ignore the problems that other packs were having and was told “now you’re starting to sound like an alpha”. Why couldn’t the rest of the book have been that level of “grown up”? The best aspect of this book was the clear cultural differences between the shifters and humans it was well thought out, essentially it was the saving grace of the book. If the plot had been at the same level then I’d probably be already halfway through the next book.

The series might work well for teenagers but otherwise it’s definitely not for me.

DNF

The storyline it's completely implausible. Her mom is murdered, but before she dies, she leaves her daughter a voicemail message saying not to trust anyone. Then at the funeral a stranger shows up, who figures out a way to get into her apartment and she immediately believe everything he says because he turns into a werewolf and had a picture of her parents from years ago. Just very weak writing. The characters are rather stupid and bipolar.

This is a fast pace book, about how Shea finds out the truth. She finds her mother dead and now a stranger wants to bring her somewhere where she use to live. Can she trust him? Can she trust the Alpha of the Pack? What is really going on? There is a lot of spots in the stroy that could be filled in more. I hope it does in the next book.

I absolutely fell in love with this book, to the point that I downloaded the whole collection 1-3
The characters are well written, and the story emotional, from the death of her mother to finding out her heritage, then finding her fated mate, all whilst being led into the situation by a very strange person who could be friend or foe.
Shae is thrown into a life she knew nothing about. Axel is not as he was portrayed. Can they make it work.... Im off to read book 2 to find out

2.75/5

Kinda boring and predictable but ok. I did like that it has 2 POV.

Given the cover I mistakenly assumed it was RH. It isn’t. That didn’t affect my rating though.

Not sure if I’ll continue or not.

Really enjoyed this!!

This is the first book I've read from this author and i loved it!!!! Shea never knew that she was not only a Shifter but the daughter of an alpha. She returns home from her 21st birthday party with friends to find her mother has been brutally murdered and a man who claims to be her dead fathers beta shows up. He wants her to go back to Alaska where the pack lives to take back her birthright, and she agrees so she can get revenge on her mother's murderer.

Only, when she gets there, she meets Axel who is the current alpha... and her fated mate. And the guy who brought her there seems to have his own agenda and it doesn't seem to be her taking over as alpha!

Great story and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!

I received an ARC for my honest review!

Wolf's Destiny is the story of shifter royalty. A 21 year old suddenly finds out she's the heir to the alpha position of a pack in Alaska, but she's been raised human by her mother and knows nothing about shifters or pack politics.
When her mother is murdered, she sets out to avenge her death and save the pack but she hadn't counted on the current alpha.
This tale has interesting shifter dynamics and lots of interesting characters, good, bad and self-serving. There's plenty of action, a little romance and lots of intrigue. A great read although it's the first of a series, so there's lots left unresolved by the end of the novel.
