"Electric Wounds" is the first book in a contemporary rockstar 'why choose' duet, and I believe the debut of this new author. It takes us on tour with four rockstars, their new tour manager and a bunch of crew that's mainly present in the background. I like the fact it shows us going on tour isn't as glamoureus as some people might think it is, and how expectations of the record company can make the whole thing even harder as it already is. The author really chose to focus on the band aspects and everything that's involved in going on tour, and I like the fact the rockstar elements are such a big part of the story.
What I miss, however, is a true storyline. "Electric Wounds" is pretty spicy, and at times it felt like the story was secondary to that, only providing the right background to connect every scene with each other. Our fmc is supposed to guide the band through their tour, but I honestly have no clue what she actually does besides warm their beds. It might have made more sense if she was a part of the tour from the start, but now it felt as if she was brought on because there were issues, while never explaining what those issues were. The five main characters stay quite superficial as well, and I miss a bit of character building to give them a real personality.
I do believe this author has potential; I loved the idea of this duet, and how the author stays true to the things readers want to see in a rockstar romance. I just hope book two might bring a bit more story to level out the spice.
