An enlightening but brief primer on, as the subtext says clearly, mind-altering drugs in history and culture. Having previously read Psychonauts, I found that there was a lot of overlap though here the focus seemed to be on entire groups of people, rather than individuals, as well as using a wider lens. Broader brushstrokes as it were.
I think Psychonauts would be the better book to read if you're interested in this space though if you already have read that and are looking for supplemental information or you're short on time and need something more condensed, then High Society is for you.
