Still The One

The perfect ‘will they, won’t they’, deliciously hot romance for all fans of Emily Henry. Eve Cassidy thought Guy Foster was the only man she would ever love. Theirs was a whirlwind romance and marriage - until it all ended in tears...

Five years after their break-up, Eve still hasn’t found a reason to believe in true love. But when Foster has an accident and she discovers she’s still listed as his next of kin, Eve knows she can’t let him wake up in hospital with no one by his side. After all, those devilishly blue eyes have always been hard to say no to…

Foster isn’t sure if his poor battered brain is playing tricks on him when he sees the only woman he’s ever loved sitting next to his bedside. Maybe Eve never got over him like he never got over her? And when Eve agrees to him moving into her one-bedroom apartment to recover, it’s clear these exes have unfinished business.

Will weeks in close quarters be the making or breaking of this smouldering second chance love story? Up close and personal, old habits can be hard to break.

Contemporary romance pure gold for all fans of Abby Jimenez, Lindsey Kelk and Emily Henry.

Still The One written by Aimee Brown was the most beautiful second chance at love novel I have ever read. When I saw that gorgeous hot pink cover and then I read that this book was PERFECT FOR FANS OF EMILY HENRY, I knew I had to get my hands on it immediately. Despite this book being super clean, with no spice added, I still adored this book so much even though I do prefer some steamage, but that's completely okay because I was still left swooning and falling for fictional characters. I absolutely love how the author added POV's from when the characters first met and we got a glimpse into their earlier relationship and why their love story went downhill. I have never read a book by Aimee Brown before this one, but after falling in love with this story, you best believe I'm going to read this author's other books hopefully in the near future. While I was reading this novel, it felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest and being torn into pieces, if you read this book you'll know why. I absolutely love when an author doesn't make their characters perfect, I love when they have flaws because it almost makes them seem real and relatable to me. I can't recommend this book enough, if you love second chances, forced proximity, slow burns, and deeply flawed characters, then look no further than Still The One written by Aimee Brown.

THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND BOLDWOOD BOOKS FOR AN ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!!!!!!

"💍Marrying a woman thirty days after you meet is extreme💍".

"🍩I have never met a box of doughnuts a man didn't devour on his own🍩".

"💎🌄I'm counting on you to show me all the hidden gems only a true Portlander would know💎🌄".

"💍🌧☀Marriage is not just a legal union, but a promise to stand together through all the storms and sunshine life may bring💍🌧☀".

Eve Cassidy is a trauma nurse at Oregon Health and Science University. Eve and her husband Foster got married just thirty days after meeting each other. Eve and Foster thought they would spend the rest of their lives with each other, but five years ago Foster broke Eve's heart into a million pieces and left Eve questioning everything she thought she knew about love and trust, but meanwhile Foster is harboring a big secret of his own. Every year on September 27th, their anniversary of getting married, Eve and Foster play a silent game of "you still alive" on Facebook with a thumbs-up making sure they are both still alive even though they are now divorced. Guy Foster who goes by Foster because he doesn't want to be called Guy is a motocross and freestyle motocross rider also known as FMX since he was just a little kid, won his first trophy at the age of four, won his first big title at the age of fifteen. Foster is an adrenaline junkie, he loves the smell of gasoline and engine oil. One day, Foster is in a motorcycle accident while trying to do a stunt in front of thousands of fans at the track, Foster is unresponsive, he required intubation on scene due to severe respiratory distress after not landing one of his stunts and had a forty to fifty foot fall. I even wanted to reach into my kindle and squeeze Foster's hand letting him know everything will be okay.

When Foster comes in by ambulance, Eve is working the trauma ward that day. Despite working as a trauma nurse, nothing really freaks Eve out, but seeing Foster that day truly broke Eve. Despite being divorced, Eve decides to care for Foster while he's in the hospital because he's all alone. Eve was Foster's emergency contact at the racetrack even after being divorced because Eve has always been Foster's constant no matter what happened between them. After being discharged from the hospital, Eve offers to move Foster into her tiny one bedroom apartment while he recovers and heals because he's going to need around the clock care because he can't fly home to Florida and no one is there to keep a watchful eye on him except for Eve. Foster and Eve both have a matching hot pink tiny heart tattoo under their right thumbs. As Foster recovered, I loved watching him and Eve grow from their mistakes and actually talk about what went wrong in their relationship. The vulnerability they shared with each other was truly beautiful. "I miss the way we used to be before everything got so complicated". This was just one moment where Eve and Foster were vulnerable with each other that brought tears to my eyes. I absolutely adored the banter between Eve and Foster, ugh they were just the cutest ever.

3.5⭐
Genre ~ contemporary romance
Setting ~ Oregon
Publication date ~ November 26, 2024
Publisher ~ Boldwood Books
Est Page Count ~ 301 (34 chapters)
Audio length ~ 9 hours 2 minutes
Narrators ~ Jennifer Woodward, Josh Wichard
POV dual 1st person POV, present tense
Featuring ~ nurse, FMX professional rider, near death experience, forced proximity, super slow burner, second chance at love, age gap, no steamage

Eve (27) & Foster (35) had a whirlwind romance that only lasted a few months. Now 5 years later he ends up in her ER and she’s nursing him back to health in her tiny apartment.

I enjoyed the flashbacks which gave us an idea of what went wrong in their previous relationship. Having dual POV was a great choice, so we weren’t just hearing one side of the story. A bit of communication would have been nice because one of them has a secret that could end things before they fully get started again.

Overall, I liked the slow burn of them finding their way back to each other, but that burn was so slow that I was thinking they’d never reconcile. Of course we know they will because "he's still the one," and yes that song was stuck in my head every time I picked up this book.

Narration notes:
I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference. However I am excited to see there are 2!

I received a free copy of, Still The One, by Aimee Brown, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Eve Cassidy thought Guy Foster was the one, that's why she married him. Though they did end of divorcing him, she never forgot about him. This was a good read, I enjoyed the characters.

This is a second-chance story about a former married couple who couldn't understand each other and, because of that, lost one another. Five years later, fate gives them another chance when Foster has an accident and Eve discovers she’s still listed as his next of kin, Eve knows she can’t let him wake up in hospital with no one by his side.

This could have been a good story about a second chance at love—the idea was wonderful (it interested me), but it failed to resonate with me, and I couldn’t connect with the story.

The story lacked more thoughtful dialogues and character motivations. There was also a lack of intrigue from the very beginning. We learn too much information right away; it would have been better to present it in smaller portions.

Also, the chapter from the main character’s perspective in the present could have been introduced closer to the middle. It would be better to start by telling about their past relationship, gradually transitioning from the past to the present.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

Eve has been single for awhile. She is surprised to get a call about her ex boyfriend. She decides to visit him like any reasonable person would do. The more time she spends with him, the more the love for him grows. A quick read.

I had never heard of the author, and chose this book purely based on the blurb, and I am so glad I did. It was right up my street and kept me captivated until the end.

Eve and Foster had a whirlwind affair and married within a month. Unfortunately, they broke up almost just as quickly breaking both their hearts in the process. Foster rode motorbikes for a living, and spent his life travelling the world, and risking his neck on evermore dangerous stunts. Everyone knows the daredevil, handsome rider – or at least they thought they did. The two had no contact until Foster arrived, close to death in the ER of the hospital where Eve worked as a nurse. When Eve started to work on the seriously damaged biker, and realised who he was, her world, once again, tipped upside down.

This is a will they/won’t they love story, but so much more. Well written, with great characters. I really loved it.

This book introduced a fresh plot that initially caught my eye. The writing itself flowed nicely, making it clear that Brown has a knack for unique storylines. That said, I couldn’t quite connect with the characters as much as I wanted to — they felt just a bit out of reach. And while I know there are some great authors that stick to single quotes for dialogue, I'm not a fan and always find it a bit distracting. Still, if you're looking for a cute second-chance, slow-burn romance, this might be just the book for you!

― ´arc review`.✧

The fact that, even though I barely tolerate second chance romances, i did enjoy it and got emotional a few times should be a feat. I liked the characters, flawed with a lot of baggage but still trying to understand each other’s take, filled with yearning, regrets and what ifs. The premise was appreciable. I had tears in my eyes at the airport scene, it was heartbreaking and vulnerable.
‘Maybe we needed to lose ourselves before we could truly find each other?’

I was not a big fan of side-characters except Phil and Gen. I hated how everyone was forcing her to give up on Fost instead of being supportive towards Eve’s decisions and encouraging her to follow her heart. It was annoying.
I wish the flashback scenes were more in depth. I felt the void of the circumstances after their wedding when things actually got downhill. The emotions were superficial, i expected more character development after their separation but even after five years, they still made the same mistakes. Also the way it was presented as “deliciously hot romance” for the fans of Abby Jimenez was misleading to some extent.

If you are looking for a quick, easy written and one sitting read with no spice, this book is for you.

Thank you Netgalley and BoldWood Books for the ARC copy.

3.5 rounded up

A heartfelt, swoony, forced proximity, dual POV second chance romance between two exes who find themselves unexpectedly reunited when pro motocross racer, Guy Foster has a terrible accident that puts him in his ex-wife Eve Cassidy's ER room. As one of the first nurses to treat Guy when he's brought to the hospital, Eve knows just how serious guy's accident was. When he needs help recovering, she volunteers to let her ex stay with her, bringing up old memories and igniting old feelings. This was another great will-they-won't they, kissing only romance from a fav author and was good on audio too. Recommended for fans of Rebecca Jenshak's Burnout.

3.5 stars. Cheesy but enjoyable. I found it distracting listening to the audiobook because I’ve listened to Aimee Brown’s other books and I hear the female narrator’s voice and think of Mercy from Love Notes.

⭐⭐⭐ 3.5 STARS! I recommend ‘Still The One’ if you’re looking for a contemporary story about love conquering all – especially when it’s with the one who got away… Thank you to NetGalley, Aimee Brown, and Boldwood Books for the eARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed my time with Foster and Eve’s love story and appreciated the timely flashbacks presented throughout the book, which caught me up on how these two met and what transpired in their first go at love. After falling in love followed by five years apart, they are brought back together again to see if they can navigate their happily ever after. ‘Still The One’ is full of sweet vibes, heartfelt stares, and I genuinely liked this tale of Foster, a professional athlete (aka adrenaline junkie), falling in love (again) with Eve, his trauma nurse. 😜

✔️ A second chance romance where he falls first
✔️ A collision of two unique flawed yet relatable characters
✔️ A creative meet-cute with sweet vibes, forced proximity, and a happily ever after

I found some side characters to be a tad annoying as they encouraged Eve not to give Foster a second chance after not bothering to ask her what she wanted. I was also surprised by the lack of spice after seeing ‘Still The One’ promoted in comparison to romance books by Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez. There is definite chemistry between Foster and Eve and while I found myself rooting for the characters to ignite their passion on-page it merely resulted in a few stolen kisses and a single closed-door scene.

I am not going to lie I get confused with tropes in books. I have no idea sometimes what trope I am reading, but if I had to choose this would be one of my favourites. This and enemies to lovers. But this one, where there is a connection already there, history is there. I loved this story. A story of Jellybean and Foss finding each other after a 5-year hiatus. The only contact on an annual Facebook memory. I was here for all of this!!

When Foss has an accident which brings him into Eve's ER room, it is terrifying for her and all the worries she had, I had. They couldn't be reunited for it to be over already, could they?

It was a slow burn, but they needed to get to know each other again. They need to work through their feelings, good and bad, and it was such a realistic portrayal of two people working on things.

I listened to the audiobook for this one, not going to lie, I was not a fan of the male narrator, and I had to speed his voice up for it to sound natural to me. But when Jennifer Woodward spoke, I could listen to her all day. It was great. She got Eve and her turmoil.

It was such a lovely book, flitting from the past to the present (make sure if you are listening to the audiobook to pay attention otherwise you might get confused!). I loved watching this couple grow. *sigh*

I am here for anything that Aimee writes, I have a new favourite!

I love a good marriage reconcilliation book and this one was super sweet. Eve and Fost married quickly and just as quick their marriage ended. Five years later he is in a motorcycle accident and as fate would have it he comes into Eve's trauma bay. She is shaken up and what makes matters worse is that it is on what would have been their 5th anniversary. Come to find out, she is still his emergency contact.
When Fost wakes up and realizes Eve is with him and has been the whole time he was in the hospital, he knows he can't let her go again. He plans to do whatever it takes to win her back because she is the only woman that he has ever truly loved. He just has to find out how to tell her the divorce never really went through and they have been married this whole time.
As they grow closer and he is with her as she helps him get back on his feet he has to decide if he can put her first or if work will always be his first priority.
What I loved about this book was the fact that as soon as he heard Eve's voice he knew what he had to do. If you believe in fate, kismet, whatever, you need to read this book because it is just proof that what is meant to be, will be.

Tropes: Still the one, it’s always been you, second chance, will they or won’t they, the one that got away, FMX
Dual POV 1st person

5 years ago, after a whirlwind 30 day romance, Eve and Foster got married, only to divorce a short time later because Foster prioritized FMX/riding over their relationship. Fast forward to present day, and Foster shows up in Eve’s trauma room after a serious crash riding his bike. Even though their marriage failed and they haven’t seen each other since Eve walked out on him, she stays by his side the entire time he’s in the ICU, and then begrudgingly lets him stay at her apartment until he’s well enough to fly back to Florida.

I had a hard time connecting to this story- it just seemed a little too unrealistic to me. And it felt like there were big parts of the story missing, as if they didn’t make it out of the author’s brain. It is a very sweet and angsty story, but I wasn’t a fan of Eve’s indecisiveness. For most of the story it felt like she was stringing him along and sending mixed signals.

Five years ago Eve walked out of her very short marriage to Extreme sport star Foster. Now, he ends his way into the ER she works in as a nurse after an accident at a game. Not only that, but she finds out she is still his emergency contact.

I adore Aimee Brown's books! While this one wasn't in my top reads for her, I did enjoy it.

Eve and Foster are good characters. You can feel the pressure they both put on themselves. There is a bit of insta-love when they meet and when they find each other again, but you can see where they work well together. This is a great example of forced proximity as Eve volunteers to take care of Foster. Along with that, you get looks into their past to see what went well and what went wrong within their original relationship.

I wanted a little more from their relationship. But beyond that, I did enjoy the story and the characters.

All in all, a good second chance romance.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the gifted copy!

thank you Net Galley for an ARC of "Still the One" in return for my honest review!

this book follows Evie (a trauma nurse) and Guy "Foster" (an FMX racer). they met, fell in love, and got married - all within 30 days!! their marriage fell apart, and she thought that would be the last of it, until 5 years later, he lands in her ER.

I am usually not a fan of "Insta-Love", but this was done so well and tastefully!! I loved the plot, it is such a fun idea and was well executed. I also loved that there was no spice, it was not needed!

my only complaint - I wish there had been more of the love confession and what came after! instead, the book ended. but it was so cute!!!

definitely would recommend this second-chance romance! a few things I specifically loved:
1. the Taylor Swift mention
2. the memory flashbacks were SO cute!!!
3. his POV in the hospital!

[arc review] still the one is a second chance romance I finished in more or less one sitting

a book like this having dual pov meant you could connect with both characters easier and see where their relationship went wrong from both perspectives as they try to reconcile and come back together

the flashback scenes were seamless, and in my opinion not over done, like what some books of this nature do!

would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick and easy, no spice, second chance romance!

✅I really enjoyed reading Still The One.
I loved the main characters, Eve and Foster. Their prior relationship had major issues so things ended for them.
A chance meeting has them reevaluating how they feel about each other.
Still The One was a fast, easy second chance romance read.
The authors writing style is solid and flows well.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

Eve Cassidy is nurse extraordinaire. Everyone at the hospital loves her and trauma is her jam. When she is alerted to Trauma 2 - she finds her ex-husband, Guy Foster, on the bed. He sustained significant injuries during a motor cross trick. Now, he is unconscious on the bed and she is fighting her emotions. Today would have been their 5th wedding anniversary.

Knowing Foster has limited family, she tells the ICU that she is his wife and they let her in. Slowly, he recovers and the docs tell him he is being discharged. Great! He can head back to Florida. Nope, he is not safe to travel yet, and Eve has been volunteered to give him a place to recover, help him with his meds and PT. Slowly, they begin to rebuild their friendship. Could this be a second chance at something fantastic?

Eve is a successful nurse who's sworn off love after a messy divorce and a messier failed engagement. During a shift, fate strikes when her ex-husband is wheeled through her trauma bay with life-threatening injuries. She agrees to nurse him back to health despite the lingering feelings stirring between them.

*******

I really wanted to love this book, but in the end, it fell flat. It was billed as a "deliciously hot romance" for fans of Emily Henry, and I'm not sure that's very accurate. I adore her work, and this was missing not only the tension but the banter, wit, and depth that her characters possess. It was a slow burn to the point of absolutely nothing happening, aside from a couple of kisses and a closed door mention of intimacy at the very end of the book. Despite other books with similar intimacy still reeling me in, this left me bored and disinterested throughout most of it.

Flashbacks were utilized a lot, and I enjoyed the peek into their past selves, however she talks of everything spiraling out of control and her leaving, but we never actually get that scene. Missing out on that key moment left a gap in seeing why there was so much silence and devastation after they separated. There's a lot of tell and not show, ample back and forth of feelings and overt dialogue in current day, without feeling an emotional investment into the characters themselves. Choosing to show more of their history to build up what they lost would have been a better hook than dispersing it amongst them openly pining for each other through current day. It left tension and intruige at a consistent low, which made the book drag a bit.

When it comes to external characters, they felt underdeveloped. The intrusive sibling, family, coworkers, and friends were all odd additions that never really felt fully fleshed out. We didn't get descriptions or detailed dialogue to an extent that they were recognizable as unique and interesting individuals. They felt like additions to advance the plot or add comic relief. On that point, there were some really poor choices in adding diversity into the book. Phil is presented as an overly flamboyant gay character at all times. Constantly on show, over the top, and excessively stereotypical. Her coworker, who's like "Sophia Vegara," was presented as having her heavy accent, written out phonetically. It was cringe-inducing when she could have written that she had a thick accent instead of literally spelling it out. It's not the same as using vernacular that belongs to language, like AAVE or Scots, but spelling out broken English pronunciation felt so wrong. Dialogue does not need to be presented in that way, and it made me question why she added diversity if she was going to utilize it through botched stereotypes.

Overall, the book wasn't poorly done, but it made some odd choices and isn't something I'd recommend to others who are interested in a similar read.

This is just the perfect cosy and cute read.
I loved the originality of this one - it's not usual to have a romance novel explore the concept of lost love and the hopefulness of rekindling a relationship that didn't work the first time round.
Aimee Brown is an expert in description - I felt like a giggling fly on the wall watching the scenes play out in my mind which allowed me to finish the book in 24 hours (it would have been much sooner if I didn't have other responsibilities, I promise you that).
Loved it, nothing more to say apart from that I'm going to be thinking about this one for a while. <3

*Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the eARC of this book; the review is my own.*

Well, that was a very quick book, not because it was super short but because it moved quickly and was enjoyable to read. I say "quick," but I guess what I really mean is that the pacing was spot on for the story and the characters. I didn't feel like there was any unnecessary filler just to take up space or make me wait for the sake of waiting. Each flashback was inserted at just the right place and contributed backstory that helped to flesh out the characters and their history. After DNFing two books in a row immediately before picking the sone up, it was exactly what I was looking for. I agree that it has a similar feel to Abby Jimenez, more so than Emily Henry. It would be a good fit for readers who like those authors but want to avoid sex scenes; however, the level of swearing prevents me from giving a higher rating than 4 stars.

The story of how Eve (27) and Foster (35) met five years previously was adorable (you'll see it in a flashback). Even though she left him a mere three months into their marriage, it's very clear from the start of the book that they should still be together and that they both want to be. It's just buried deep down, for Eve especially. With the five years that have passed since they last saw each other, the two of them have grown up and matured some. That's not to say I wasn't frustrated with the ways they still lacked communication. But their care for one another was obvious, and their flirty banter (even when Eve forbade flirting within her apartment) was very cute. I couldn't help liking the two of them.

This author is new to me, but I see she has quite a few books that I will be looking into.

How it ends:

Note: Some language, but quite a few f words. Phil is gay. Not a big fan of the cover.

Quick Summary: A "serendipitous moment" romance

My Review: Still the One by Aimee Brown is a 2024 romance from Boldwood Books.

About the Book:"Eve Cassidy thought Guy Foster was the only man she would ever love. Theirs was a whirlwind romance and marriage - until it all ended in tears..."

A love gone right until it goes wrong story, this book was everything. It was about young love, life choices, and growing up in matters of the heart. It was regret and forgiveness. It was friendship and transparency. It was the messiness of love and the beauty of reconciliation. It was sweetness, in the best ways.

My Favorite Quotes:

"It’s funny how memories never truly fade, isn’t it? They linger in the corners of our minds, waiting for a moment of weakness to resurface."

"some connections are just too strong to sever..."

"Marriage is a shimmering vision, like a mirage in a desert. It’s a path that is seen clearly only by two people and appears to glow with the light of love, leading to an unknown yet exciting lifelong destination with your best friend."

"It’s a dance between two souls, a language spoken without words, a feeling that consumes every fiber of your being."

"...part of me has always longed for you."

"Love is enough."

My Favorite Scenes (coded, so as to avoid spoilers):

- The 25th Anniversary Wedding Surprise

- Go for the Throat!

- Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice

- Walking Away

- Facing Your Future

My Special Takeaway: Love can overcome anything, if hearts are willing.

My Final Say: I walked away from this beautiful story of love with a happy smile. It was a "timing is everything" kind of romance.

Other: Readers who enjoy simple stories where time, growth, and maturity lead to a forever love will adore this novel.

Rating: 4.25/5

Sincere appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Boldwood Books), and to NetGalley. Thank you for granting access to a digital ARC of this title in exchange for an honest critique. The words I have shared are my own.

The Blurb :

My Thoughts :
We meet Eve Cassidy, five years ago after a very quick romance with Guy Foster and with only 30days under their belts, they got married.
Having rushed into things the marriage just didnt work and they went their separate ways.
Now it seems Foster is back, he turns up at Eve’s place of work unresponsive after a stunt motorbike accident where she works as a trauma nurse. Eve is still listed as his next of kin, and it seems he has no one so Eve has to care for him while he is in the hsopital.
When the time comes for him to leave the hospital, Eve offers to move him into her one bedroom flat where he can continue to recover. Foster is unable to go home alone as he needs around the clock care and there is no one else that can do it, so Eve feels responsible.
As the two spend more time together and grow close again, can they pick up from where they left off or is the past better to be left in the past!?.
I really enjoyed the POV’s from both Eve and Foster, as we get to learn more about their early relationship and why things just didnt work out.
Aimee Brown gives us all the drama with likeable characters. This was an enjoyable, fun read which is all about second chances.
Looking forward to more from Aimee Brown soon.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

It’s been five years since Eve Cassidy walked out of her marriage to Guy Foster, so imagine her surprise when she finds out she’s his emergency contact. After a bad motocross accident, Foster is rushed to the hospital to receive life saving treatment. It also happens to be the same hospital where Eve is an on call trauma nurse. Not wanting him to be alone, Eve stays by his side while he recovers. Once it’s time for him to leave the hospital she agrees to move him into her one bedroom apartment to help with his recovery. As the two spend more and more time together they start to wonder if fate has brought them together for their second chance at love.

The characters are quite likeable. Both have a lot of baggage from their first attempt at a relationship, but they genuinely try to see each other for who they are in the present time and not who they were. We do get flashback scenes of when they first met which helps the audience to present a clearer picture as to where things went wrong and show each character’s overall growth. This is a dual POV and we get to see the circumstances leading up to their break up from both sides.

I was turned off by how Ms. Brown wrote a side character who is a POC. This character’s dialogue was written to reflect her accent and to me it read like a stereotype of what a non POC assumes Latinos are. The accent was written in an over the top way and it was unnecessary. Ms. Brown could have simply stated that she spoke with a thick accent. She even referenced Sofia Vergara, an actress who has played into the stereotypes often plaguing Latino artists. This was disappointing, and took away from an otherwise lovely story.

Second chances in romance have always resonated deeply with me, and this story captured that sentiment beautifully. The complexity of the characters' relationship is what really drew me in. They leave each other, yet their bond remains unbroken by an official divorce. This lingering connection added an intriguing layer to their interactions and decisions. The tension created by their unresolved feelings kept me invested in their journey from the very beginning.

When tragedy strikes, it serves as a catalyst for their reunion, forcing them to confront their past and the choices they made. It’s in this context of shared grief that they begin to reevaluate their lives and the love they once had. The exploration of their flaws and mistakes felt authentic and relatable. Instead of falling back into each other’s arms immediately, they navigate the messy, often painful journey of rediscovery. I appreciated how the author didn’t rush their reunion; instead, they allowed the characters to genuinely reflect on what went wrong.

What I found particularly compelling was the depth with which the author portrayed their growth. Each moment they spent together was steeped in both nostalgia and a yearning to understand what had driven them apart. The tension between their past and present kept me engaged, as I found myself rooting for them to find a way back to each other. It’s a reminder that love can be messy and complicated, but it’s often through those challenges that we find clarity and strength. This story reaffirmed my belief that sometimes, love deserves a second chance.

Thank you, Net Galley, Boldwood Books, and Aimee Brown for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a second chance romance for Eve about Eve and Foster. She's a trauma nurse, and he's an FMX athlete. They were married five years ago and got divorced because Foster was too focused on his career, and Eve wasn't feeling loved.

They reacquaint when the worst happens, Foster gets into an accident that should have killed him, but didn't. He's brought to the hospital where Eve works, and when she sees him, she spirals. She takes time off work to be at his bedside, and when he's too sick to fly home, he stays with her so she can nurse him back to health.

Sparks and banter fly; they're clearly still attracted to each other. But Foster has a secret, and he's afraid to share it with Eve because they seem like they're on the path to getting back together.

This book is a SLOW BURN. While there's yearning and sexy banter, nothing physical happens between them until the very end.

I did really like these characters and their stories, I was cheering for them the whole time. While we learned about their current lives, with flashbacks to their short relationship, I feel like we didn't get too deep into their backgrounds, which I would have liked.
