The third volume in the Amazing Ameziane's Cinema Trilogy is a blast from start to finish. Like in the first two volumes of the trilogy the author's passion for cinema is infectious and it results in a beautiful synthesis of two incredible art forms. Martin Scorcese is one of the world's greatest film makers, and this volume tells his life and work in amazing detail while also, at the same time, narrating five decades in the history of cinema from the point of view of one the mediums greatest creators. If you like comics and cinema it would be hard not to recommend this volume or, indeed, this whole trilogy. A masterpiece.

Scorsese is obviously one of our greatest working filmmakers so this was always going to be a fun read, especially in its chosen format. It’s beautifully illustrated, and even if I unfortunately disagree somewhat with its final statement on the state of the films of today and I personally feel that it’s a pretty straightforward account of a life in filmmaking, it really doesn’t undo anything, and that second point especially made the book what it is… a VERY easy read. It was very quick to get through and it was lovely to read the majority of it today and yesterday on holiday by the poolside.
