On an alternate earth, a cataclysm has altered a subset of the population. Talents are persecuted for their psychic and physical mutations, giving rise to two conflicting societies based upon maintaining genetic purity. And the Source, a shadowy corporate entity dependent upon the exploitation of captive Talents, is hunting them…
Flynn and Kara have made it to the north, but they’re far from safe.
In the city of Glynfyls, the ruling body known as the Assembly has become ineffectual at best and treasonous at worst, leaving the Northern Territories ripe for invasion. Under the threat of blackmail, Flynn Scot is forced into a leadership position to combat the corruption and to protect his family. Titus is coming, and unless Flynn can convince the Assembly that the threat from the Source is real, every Talent in the North faces harvesting.
Meanwhile, Kara is floundering.
Thrown into a completely new environment, Talent Kara Jester questions her place in the North and everything else. Plagued by wedding preparations and without the ability to bind her resurfacing memories of trauma, she’s a mess. Then, with the arrival of someone from her past, tensions skyrocket between her and Flynn.
And it’s mirrored within the city.
After a string of grisly murders and abductions, Glynfyls is in turmoil. With the Original Houses playing games and setting their machinations above the common’s safety, no one is free from recrimination and rumors abound. So do threats of civil unrest. And if Flynn can’t find a way to get out from under his blackmailer’s thumb and set things right, their fairytale wedding being planned amidst the madness won’t end in a happily ever after.

I really don't want to overshare and risk spoiling this story for anyone, so I will keep this as vague as I can.
Okay, so book two has a lot going on. Flynn and Kara have made it up North, but the safety and calm they were hoping for isn't going to come easily. Binder focuses heavily on furthering Kara and Flynns' character development, their relationship with not just each other but also their community and the political mess that is their society.
I felt a lot of emotions while reading this story because, like Jesus, will they ever catch a freaking break? Have you ever been the new person somewhere? Whether it be a new job, school, town....that feeling of just floundering and figuring out how to adjust or fit in? Thats basically where they find themselves. Kara and Flynn have so many emotional and physical struggles that they have to overcome. Spoiler: By the end of book 2, they still haven't.
Even with all the drama, something this book didn't lack at all was the spice. The relationship between Kara and Flynn is still hot and heavy. It's obvious these two are madly in love with each other. Being together is their peace away from all the madness. I adore this couple so much and can't wait to see where this series goes.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
My Rating: 3.5 ⭐⭐⭐✨ Series Status: Shit’s escalating fast. I’m locked in and emotionally compromised.
We Have: ✅ MF Romance ✅ Fated Mates / Bond Complications ✅ Found Family Expansion ✅ Surprise Agendas & Plot-Long Schemes ✅ Political Tension That Never Lets Up ✅ Arranged Marriage Fallout ✅ Revenge Delivered With Style ✅ Betrayals That Slap You Across the Face ✅ Multi-POV (including fresh faces 👀) ✅ Heavy on the Backstory, Light on the Smut
This book was meat and potatoes—thick with information, layered with long-game strategy, and slow-burn political panic from cover to cover. Every scene is a revelation. Every chapter feels like peeling back one more fucked-up layer of a world that was already terrifying in Breaker… and now? It’s even worse.
Binder doesn’t hold your hand. It throws you into the middle of power plays, generational secrets, and back-alley manipulations that were set in motion before Kara or Flynn ever had a say. Everyone’s playing a game, but no one’s following the same rulebook. And the worst part was even the people you want to trust—the ones that should be allies—are quietly hoping the whole thing burns.
The betrayal level in this book was 110% at UNHOLY. Some of these characters spun the fuck around on me and I am still emotionally limping. One minute I’m rooting for someone, and the next they’re orchestrating an entire downfall like it’s fucking Tuesday. My jaw stayed open for half this damn book.
We get answers—finally—but they come with consequences. The political tension is suffocating in the best way. Plans are unraveling. New threats are rising. And just when you think there’s a moment to breathe, someone pulls the rug out, sets it on fire, and calls it character development.
The revenge subplot was fucking beautiful. Sharp. Satisfying. Felt like getting justice with a little blood on it—just the way I like it. We also got introduced to new players, and I already know some of these characters are going to ruin me. I am ready to suffer.
And the ending? You’re fucking joking. That’s how you’re gonna leave me?? Book 3 better come with answers, explosives, and emotional support snacks.
Final thoughts: This wasn’t as spicy as Breaker, but it was heavier. Plot-forward. Answer-loaded. Built to set up the storm that’s clearly about to hit. I’m giving it 3.5 stars—not because it was lacking, but because this one slowed the smut to let the story take over. And honestly I respect the hell out of that. This shit’s not just steamy—it’s strategic.
Yall, I try not to be long winded when I do my reviews because I don't want to spoil you. Also I try to be a raving looney toon as well but this series is going to probably have the longest reviews I've written. When I say that I am head over heels for these characters, this world, the story. I truly am. Once again we are back in this world meeting so many new faces and some returning! I was so happy to see that Rogan was back! I knew it would throw an interesting wrench between Kara and Flynn and boy did it!! Rogan was just someone who was there briefly in the Prequel Breeder, but he was important to Kara. The fact that he disappeared after what happened in the prequel was investing to me and he always lingered in the back of my mind but never, did I expect his return to be what it was!! I definitely hope we get a story on him! I just know he has an amazing story to tell!! Cal, is still a wild card for me. There are some people who have lived a long time in this series and Cal is one of them. Not to mention this new character, Mother, is definitely involved with him somehow. I'm very intrigued. Speaking of, what an crazy powerful person she must be!! The game of chest that she's playing with all her little pawns with Cal is fascinating. I want to know more!! Lot....sigh. I have so many feelings about Lot. He is such a bad father. Like, terrible. He has not redeemed himself in my mind and his actions in this book have kept him firmly in my #parentsbehavingbadly list. Regal and Ielle make an appearance in this book and if they have no haters then I'm in a coma. I despise them both. Everytime something worked out in their favor I shook my fist at the sky. When they had a set back, I did a proper jig to celebrate. Flynn, our dear Flynn, has to do and be everything that he doesn't want to be. The best leaders are those who don't want it but are amazing at it right? And he is just that. So many realize it and even though he has a not so stellar reputation to rehabilitate, they recognize the leadership qualities leaking from him. See this has already been long and I haven't even said how I felt. I loved this book. If it wasn't for work I would have devoured it in probably half the time it took me. Also apparently sleep is irrelevant because I had zombie eyes for 2 days because I just couldn't put this down. The depth of this story and the little details make reading this such an enjoyable experience. I read every thing. The blurbs at the beginning of the chapters, the epilogue and prologue. Everything. I can't get enough. I super, highly recommend this series. I mean you can dig your teeth into this baby and just enjoy the ride. I didn't want to get off. When I hit 100% I was sad. Now to wait for the next installment.
You know Kara and Flynn kept it spicy right. They couldn't keep their hands off each other. I definitely didn't want them to either. 5 out 5 on the spice. Overall, 5 out 5. Only thing that would have made this better was if it didn't end. I know some might not enjoy how political things get (not like real world politics). I mean Flynn is upgrading and to keep those he love safe, that includes being a politician. He's good at it and has real world knowledge to lend to people who have grown so out of touch. Fantasy readers will love this, spicy romance readers will love this and everyone should love this. Highly recommend. Pick this up now and don't forget the prequels because they will add to the experience!!
Binder was a captivating story of political intrigue and self-discovery. Following Kara and Flynn’s journey from Breaker, they have finally reached Glynfyls, Flynn’s hometown. They went hoping for safety but instead found civil unrest and a town falling apart at the seams. Kara and Flynn were not prepared for the mantle that Flynn had to take up to navigate the politics that surround Glynfyls and its governing body, The Assembly.
Twists and turns abounded in this second installment of The Price of Talent series. There were so many political machinations happening in the background and people seeking their own agenda. Kara and Flynn basically walked into a sh*t show, and I felt their frustration at what should’ve been a haven. My heart went out to Kara and Flynn, who were both like fish out of water dealing with the town politics/etiquette. Kara missing the bubble they were in before getting to Glynfyls and trying to find her place in this new world. Flynn felt the weight of the world on his shoulders, trying to keep Kara safe while playing the political game he so abhors.
I loved the continued bond between Kara and Flynn. These two are fire together, and their spicy moments were chef’s kiss. It was in these intimate moments that they found a reprieve from all the crazy and I was here for it.
Binder was an exciting read that had me entranced with all the political plots and suspense. There was so much corruption and people on power trips. There was never a dull moment. I enjoyed getting a deeper look into the Talents’ abilities, especially Kara’s and Flynn’s. I’m looking forward to the next book to see how it all plays out.
Absolutely loved it! This was a perfect second book to the series! The cliffhanger was incredible! I loved seeing the development between Flynn and Kara, especially with all the craziness going on was a perfect balance. I love that Kara is not one to hide behind her man! She’s strong, and doesn’t give up, runs into battle alongside Flynn. And Flynn? He’s got so much to deal with. Him and Kara and back in his town, and now he’s got more issues to deal with, and family isn’t a safe place as it should be. This book is action packed, and the ending???! I’m not going to give it away but dang! I need the next book lol.
First of all! WOW!!!! You know you read a bunch of series and nothing is better than the first book? Well it did not happen here. The plot and world you are dragged into and laid out to devour in each and every way is just astronomical. The storyline is so well written and the characters are so well balanced that you can’t stop reading. Nothing is more enjoyable to me then feeling like I’ve been sucked into a world an author writes and feel like I’m right there with the characters living it! And you’re sitting on the edge the entire time wanting to know what happens next. Absolutely amazing- Kerin
Will Flynn and Kara ever just have their solitude and be peaceful and happy?
Omg..this second book was just as good as the first!! Flynn and Kara have made it up North, and it's not what they were thinking it would be like! Plus, Kara has an additional worry to worry about on top of everything that she has on her shoulders! The fighting ring at the end, i swear was so intense to read..had me on the edge of my couch reading!! I love how possessive Kara is and Flynn too of course, is just the same way! The ending has me excited for book 3!
This story transitioned/continued beautifully! The amount of detail, world-building , and spicy scenes made this such a great continuation to book one! I’ve absolutely fallen for Kara and Flynn’s story! Throughout the story you never know who to trust! Both characters get put into a position where it seems like it’s their only choice to survive and protect others! Kara and Flynn have to make tough decisions, can they be together without hurting others, without losing everything? I won’t tell you’ll have to read and find out, you won’t be disappointed!
This book was filled with so much action that I could not put the book down. The progression in Kara and Flynn’s relationship has been wonderful. I think starting to understand how the world system works. I had been confused during the first book but now I understand it better. The big fight in the book was so exciting I am so proud of Kara and how well she handled herself. Once again a very exciting story!
Alright friends- I want to be clear- I stepped way outside my comfort zone for this dystopian romance and I am SO glad I did. Kara and Flynn have absolutely pulled me in and I can’t put it down! Because this was my first series like this it did take me a minute to understand everything but Nevermore makes it so easy with her great writing, character development, and exciting plot! This book was so good I immediately picked up split and began it too!
Actually, it's a 4.5 star book! Kara & Flynn, these two just keep getting better. Flynn will do anything to keep Kara safe, including giving his life. Kara is just the same. She has no fear when it comes to Flynn. This book leaves you on a cliffhanger and makes you want more. I need book three today.
Binder takes Nevermore's dystopian world to Flynn's turf, Glynfyls, where politics are a blood sport. Flynn's trying to navigate love, family, and his own legacy while the Assembly's playing a high-stakes game that'll determine his future with Kara. This book's a wild ride, and I'm obsessed. Can't wait to dive into book 3 - the title's got me intrigued!
This book was well worth the read. The building suspense had u thinking u knew what was going down but u truly didn’t know till it all happen. Now we are getting more into the story and it’s to the point we all want more answers! lol like what exactly is coming from the source its self. I’m so invested I need to know
This book was absolutely worth the read. The suspense keeps you guessing—you think you know what’s happening, but you don’t truly figure it out until it all unfolds. As the story progresses, it leaves you craving more answers! Like, what exactly is coming from the source itself?
I thought book one was good… then I read book two!
More secrets come out. Kara and Flynn are attacked again. Flynn realizes just how different he is. And now he’s expected to pick up the mantle of First Shade and be the family’s strongest political representative.
The spice is spiiiiiicy. You’ll need a break every few chapters to be able to relieve some tension. The plot thickens and twists. The characters grow and their development is fantastic.
I have always loved dystopian stories. This series has only further cemented my love for it!
In this book we have shifted now to the North. Where we get an electric view of how politics run the city and feeds off rumors and dirty power plays. It is a never ending game of three tiered Chess.
Most of the pawns do not even realize they are apart of the game. It pulls even more with the introduction of “Mother” that seems to be the figure head of the Sons.
We get little tidbits here and there and this author has a delicious way of keeping you on your toes!!! I usually can crack the plot twists but this one kept me gasping!!!
And yes the spice is carnal and primal. It is absolutely toe curling delicious.
Kara is out of her element learning the ins and outs of society as Flynn’s fiancée, but when an old enemy crashes into her life, she must make the ultimate choice. No matter what happens, one thing is for sure. Flynn is bringing the war to The Source, not the other way around.
Binder is an epic dystopian with political machinations, hot romance, old lovers, hidden enemies, and at the heart of it all is one couple who will fight or die trying. The world-building is immense and rivals the Game of Thrones saga. The descriptive narration is so immersive, you’ll feel every emotion and experience everything that happens. The hot romance scenes are borderline BDSM, but it works considering the characters. The characters are the #1 reason to read Binder, trust me.
Let’s start with the characters. Kara is our heroine and she’s wonderfully written. Her conflicts and emotions rule her heart. She acts out and honestly, I enjoyed her speaking her mind to everyone. She has no filter, and I loved it. Sure, she’s learning all the ins and outs of society and proper etiquette. She’s basically royalty and has no idea what is expected of her. When she falters, Flynn is there to support her. Kara is such an engrossing heroine and one I rooted for while reading. I connected with her on so many levels.
Then there’s Flynn. He’s returned home and is trying to readjust to all the political jockeying for control. There are warring factions and who will stand beside him when all the fur flies are constantly on his mind. He’s also doing what he can to protect the woman he loves, Kara, while executing his grandfather’s plan. He’s a man without a net but he’s one determined hero. I am astonished by how complex his character is written. AK Nevermore has written one of the finest heroes ever written. I connected with him as well.
If you’re a lover of hot dystopian romance with heavy doses of violence, political factions, and sizzling romance, you need to read Binder. Yes, this is book two in the Price of Talent series, and it can be read as a standalone. But I highly recommend you read Breaker before reading Binder. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
AK Nevermore’s Binder is a thrilling plunge into an alternate earth rife with tension, danger, and the fight for survival. Set against a backdrop of political corruption, societal collapse, and a powerful corporation exploiting those with psychic and physical mutations—known as Talents—the stakes in this story are sky-high, and Nevermore pulls no punches in delivering an intense and heart-pounding ride.
Flynn Scot, a reluctant leader, is thrust into a position of power to protect not just his loved ones but the entire population of Talents in the North. His character embodies resilience, but it’s the vulnerability he shows in trying to balance family, leadership, and the psychological weight of his past that makes him so compelling.
Kara Jester’s journey is equally captivating. Thrown into the chaos of a new society, her sense of displacement feels incredibly raw. Nevermore masterfully explores Kara's internal battle, which is as gripping as the external threats surrounding them.
What makes Binder stand out is the expertly woven political intrigue and societal collapse in Glynfyls. The Assembly's corruption, the grisly murders, and the abductions creating panic in the city make for an electrifying setting. The tension Nevermore builds with each chapter leaves readers on edge—wondering who can be trusted and what sacrifices Flynn and Kara will have to make in order to survive. Binder offers a perfect blend of high-stakes action and emotional depth.
This book isn’t just about survival; it’s about the fragile nature of leadership, love, and trust in a world teetering on the edge of chaos. The world-building is immersive, the characters are deeply flawed yet wholly human, and the plot will leave you breathless, especially as Flynn and Kara's future becomes uncertain. Nevermore’s sharp writing and relentless pacing make this a must-read for fans of dystopian fantasy and political thrillers. Binder is a masterclass in tension, with a story that sinks its claws into you and doesn’t let go until the very last page.
Binder is the continuation of Nevermore's dark, dystopian world that is now taking place in Flynn’s hometown of Glynfyls.
There are political games abound. While Flynn came home for safety, it also meant coming home to face his family and his heritage. So, as much as Flynn would love to just focus on Kara and their new found love, he's pulled in several directions while the Assembly is making major decisions, which ultimately could affect his and Kara's future.
Kara isn't exactly happy to be in Glynfyls, but she would like it better if it was just her and Flynn and no one else. While Flynn is constantly pulled away with Assembly business, Kara is left with fake, pretentious people, and all the social rules that now revolve around her life.
A lot of this book was centered around the politics of Glynfyls and personally, I had a hard time focusing on it, so for me this book dragged....😒 I was hoping as the full length second book in this series that things would move a bit faster, especially given the fast paced novella in between, but ultimately only the parts where Kara and Flynn took center stage really held my interest.
The previous instalment, Breaker, was great, but I think overall I enjoyed Binder even more. As there's a chase element for a large part of Breaker, for the first half of Binder I was kind of waiting for them to go somewhere. However, you don't necessarily have to run to feel hunted, and the writer crafts beautiful tension among the politics and power plays of the Glynfilis elite which kept it a thrilling read. I also enjoyed how Flynn and Kara's characters developed, always intriguing and unpredictable twists around every corner on their arcs. It takes real craft to make character voices sound this authentic and as this is AK Nevermore it's steamy as hell, as usual.
If I have any criticism it would be in the overly cryptic epilogue/lead-in for the next instalment in the final few pages of the book. But this doesn't detract from the main ending where all of the threads of Binder come together in a barnstorming finale. Highly recommended.
So, with the first book, I had a hard time getting into it with all the world building and learning all the terminology for everyone and everything. I had a better go with this one. Things clicked a bit easier for me. As Flynn and Kara continue their journey of fleeing themselves from "the source", they head to Flynn's hometown Glynfyls. This book had a lot of talk about the politics of Glynfyls and while they thought they would be safe there, they quickly realize they are not. They are attacked yet again. This one had a lot of twists and turns that I didn't see coming. The spice was juicy!!! The characters have a lot of character development. Kara and Flynn are great together. I love how protective they are of each other and how much care and consideration they take of each other. I can't wait for book 3.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
I was so excited to be back in this world. I really love that it is so different. Back with Flynn and Kara. These two have been through it in the first book. I'd love to say that things are smooth sailing in this second book, but it's not. There are secrets being thrown about. Attacks. Finn learns a whole lost about how he is and why he is different. However, life is going to take a political turn that he never saw coming. Twists and turns and moments that will have your kindle melting in your very hands. This was a great book. I cannot wait for the third book.
So in book one I was a bit confused on how the world works in the prince of talent book series but as time went, it started to make a lot more sense to me. Here we have Kara and Flynn who find themselves in Flynn's side of things when he's put in a position of power to protect his loved ones. I would honestly recommend this book to everyone who is a lover of Dystopian books with incredible romance, politics and violence. A.K Nevermore truly outdid herself with Binder and I absolutely cannot wait for book 3, Split.
Binder was a gripping tale of self-discovery and political intrigue. Kara and Flynn have arrived at Flynn's hometown of Glynfyls. Instead of finding safety, they discovered civil unrest and a town in disarray. Flynn had to take on the responsibility of navigating the politics surrounding Glynfyls and its governing body, The Assembly, a role for which neither Kara nor Flynn were ready. I cherished Kara and Flynn's enduring relationship. Together, these two are a fire, and their fiery moments were amazing. They found solace from the crazy in these private moments.
Binder is a wild mix of heat, danger, and political games that had me hooked from the first chapter. Flynn and Kara’s relationship is messy in the best way! Full of passion, tension, and moments that make you want to scream at them and hug them all at once. The world feels huge and lived-in, with enough twists to keep you guessing, and the political intrigue adds just the right amount of slow-burn tension. By the end, I was completely invested and desperate for the next book.
I love Flynn and Kara. Kara does things her way and her spunkiness wants me to hang out with her.. Flynn only has eyes for her and no matter what woman throws herself at hm they end up being rejected. This story has a lot of politics with Flynn having meetings all the time. It is is a spicy dystopian which I enjoyed very much. Thank you to the author for the book to review.
I really love the relationship of Kara and Flynn, as they are perfect for each other. This is A Spicy story which I truly enjoy! The twists kept the story interesting and made me unable to put it down. If you like Dystopian with spice I highly Recommend! I Loved It!!! So No Spoilers!
