as much as I was hoping to love the remastered version of cade and ella’s story, I loved the original way more. 🥺

I still remember buying the original version on kindle a few years ago and never finishing it. So color me surprised by this remastered edition of “Trapped with you”. I went from forgetting the old version in my current reads to quite enjoying the new one! 😩
I can only recommend giving this a try if you’re curious about finding out how the author’s writing evolved over time.

Trapped with you (remastered version) by Marzy Opal was sucha blast. I had already met Cade and Ella previously and to have the opportunity to review this arc with a new twist to their story was a beautifully nostalgic journey. I am so thankful to the author and publishers for giving me this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Ex-lovers Cade and Ella find themselves thrust into an unexpected reunion during their school's initiation night, where they are trapped in a game that forces them to confront their past. Ella just wants to forget the moment she met Cade while Cade is going to use this chance to get back the love of his life.
Cade is devastated over losing the love of his life. He needs a moment to tell her the truth that he would never ever hurt her willing, but Ella is not ready to listen she cannot believe that the man she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with has betrayed her in the worst way possible.
Ella has lost her friend, her boyfriend and a lot more in just one night. She cannot comprehend how just a moment ago she was happy and spending her time with the love of her life, the same person who has now shattered her heart and left her broken beyond repair.
The steam was steaming. Some serious passion and kinks with these two and that last scene where Cade fulfills Ella's long time fantasy was just burning my laptop.
I absolutely devoured this remastered version. It lent such a in depth to these characters I love very deeply.

Ella and Cade have been together for most highschool but something happened and caused them to broke up. Cade wants her back and the occasion presents itself when they are paired during initiation night in their old highschool: during the book we follow their journey through that night, while the narration is interrupted by episodes from their past.
I appreciated flashbacks from their past, I believe a second chance romance is complete when the reader can read about how the couple first fell in love, how their attraction started, in this way there's a more clear picture about the relationship.
The reason why I didn't finish this book is how the miscommunication was handled, I usually don't mind this trope but this was not the case.
Ella and Cade broke up because of a misunderstanding but they never had the opportunity to make things clear, once they meet again they have the opportunity (multiple times) to talk about it but they always avoid confrontation: Cade never force Ella to listen to him, but keeps flirting with her in order to win her back instead of oblige her to listen his exaplanation about why they broke up. Ella obviously is irritated by Cade's flirting and always interrupts him when he start referring to their breakup, instead of letting him continue his explanation she makes things worse by lying about her being over their story.
Towards the middle of the book we get a full explanation about the misunderstanding and why Ella wouldn't listen to Cade and I totally understand but I expect that after three months she would finally give him a chance to explain, but she didn't.
So I was really annoyed with their toxic behavior, they couldn't communicate, they didn't even make an effort, so it was a bit irritating and I didn't want to push myself to finish the book.

From start to finish I was really rooting for Cade and Ella. The angst and the longing that these two characters have for each other; I just couldn’t get enough. This is a second chance romance that makes you want to rip your heart out while you keep turning to the next page.

The first time they meet it’s love at first sight for Cade and from there the rest is history. They started off as friends and as these two get to know each other it turns into more. Their love makes them feel like they’re on top of the world but it all comes crashing down.

I had the pleasure of alpha reading this book and when I say it’s better than the original I mean it! These characters are ones that you can’t help but feel connected to and root for. Whether it be completing the dares for Initiation Night and coming away with the crown or finally admitting that their feelings are as ever present as they have always been. I enjoyed the high stakes of the game. There’s another added layer of suspense because someone from the past wants revenge against Cade and Ella. I enjoyed trying to guess who had the biggest grudge against this power couple. A romantic suspense with a heavy dose of romance? Count me in.
Horror, spice, and a revenge plot that’s nice. The love scenes in this book were off the charts spicy, no closed door romance here! If you like fast paced heart-wrenching reads then you need to read this book. Once you pick it up you won’t regret it.

This book is full of mystery, passion, angst and so much love. Cade’s love for Ella, Ella’s love for Cade, their friends, their parents and Livvy with Emilio.
Cade with his love declarations and gestures made me blush, giggle and kick my feet. AND ELLA WITH HER THOUGHTFUL GIFT for him! I SCREAMED!
Also bonus points for Mabel Garcia, my babygirl, she’s so sweeeeet.
And one of my favorite chapters with Joshy who was kidnapped by girls 😂

Before reading this book I was super excited to start it but then while reading this book I was intrigued but started getting bored and just wanted to stop reading but I held on strong and decided I still fucked with the book enough to keep reading and I’m so glad I decided to stick it through because the more the book went on the more I loved it. It just kept getting better and better and I was so happy because of that. Also let me say that the spice was totally spicing in this book it was so hot and there were a lot of different kinks going on. But seriously the bit of miscommunication in this book almost killed me, I just wanted Ella to hear the man out.

How I love this man, Cades utter devotion to Ella was top notch, with everyone of his love declarations and gestures I fell harder for this man. He’s a morally grey MMC, a bad boy and what girl doesn’t have a secret soft spot for the bad boys, he would give everything and anything to Ella, he would do anything for her, he would let the world burn just so she could shine. I love this man.
•Ella Ximena Cordova•
I love Ella, she’s one strong, confident, smart and overall badass FMC, depicting her as a goddess was the right move because I think I might just worship the ground she walks on. I also have to say her character development through the book was amazing, she took responsibility for her mistakes which takes a lot of guts. Ella was a little unhinged but how could I fault her on that.

I love these two characters separately but together they are even better. The banter between them, amazing. There spicy scenes, hot asf. Their relationship, everything. They are both so possessive of each other and I just love that. How they show their love and affection to one another is also beyond anything I could possibly imagine. I love these two, their relationship is beautiful and I’m totally envious of it.

They are both so possessive of each other and I just love that. How they show their love and affection to one another is also beyond anything I could possibly imagine. I love these two, their relationship is beautiful and I’m totally envious of it.

I read the original version of this book and loved it. So when I learned there was going to be a remastered take on the same story of Ella and Cade I knew I needed to re-read this new take. I wasn’t disappointed one bit.
If you loved the OG version I assure you that you won’t be disappointed with this revamped one. Everything you loved about these two is still there. The story and the lead up to what they go through and the aftermath is still there. But it’s a tad darker and this morally grey
possessive couple were the perfect mix. It’s often the morally great mmc who is cr@zy obsessed and possessive but to read an fmc that is just as obsessed with the male was kind of refreshing. Especially when the mmc loves it. It really only works cause both of them are equal with the extreme of their actions and thoughts towards each other.
Even though the plot is the same, their age and the point of their lives was aged slightly. The original they were seniors in highschool. In this they are 19 and in college. It helps make Cade’s character a little more believable that he is this future kingpin in wait. Ella is an FMC we don’t get a lot of in books. You’ll either love her or h@te her but she is a female who knows who she is and knows her worth. She may be seen as the good girl in life but she is anything but that. She isn’t afraid to brand her man with her name all over him.
The steam was very 🥵 and there are just as much extremes to their love in the 🛌. Some serious passion and k!nks with these two and their last scene where Cade delivers in a promise to full fill Ella’s F@ntasy was 🤯

I adored this dark mafia romance, and don't know if l've encountered a MMC (Cade) as down bad for the FMC (Ella) before. Every single one of his actions, thoughts and feelings was for her and because of her.

It took me a while to get into the story (a few chapters), but I was immediately hooked on Cade! How can you not love this man? 😍🤍
There are quite a few plot twists & revelations in the book which made it hard to put down! I’m gawking at my screen during every single chapter by the end 🤣🙈.
Also, Marzy Opal is one great context writer if I may say so. The reason behind certain characters’ behavior always has an intruiging background story to it (& she certainly knows how & when to bring it! 👏🏻).
Last but not least: I feel like this story has a more advanced vocabulary than other books I have read so far 👏🏻. My mother tongue is Dutch & even though I read a lot of English books in my spare time, I still had to look up a few words from time to time. I 🤍 it when I am able to enjoy the story & learn some new words as an added advantage!

The gothic vibes make my little black heart so happy.
The soulmate, twin flame, fated, once in a lifetime best friends to lovers relationship with all the Romeo & Juliet x Harley Quinn & Joker vibes was to die for.
Both our characters, Ella and Cade, hold incredible strength, passion, and love for each-other.
They aren’t afraid of their unhinged and obsessive devotion for each other. They embrace it fully.
The tension and angst in the beginning felt so magnified due to their intense relationship.
It starts on initiation night where they are forced to work together as a team in a gothic institution three months after their breakup (they were together for three years.)
We get their present, where Cade is trying to win her back and Ella is trying to fight back her feelings and is determined to not let him back in because of the horrific betrayal she felt from him months prior.
We get their past, stories of how they fell in love and the lead up to Cades “betrayal.” But unbeknownst to them both, there were external forces at play and everything isn’t what it looked like.
The writing is truly phenomenal and the spice was hot as fuck.

ultimately I’m not a mafia reader but marzy made it work for me (to an extend)
trapped with you was a wild ride. unhinged characters, dark atmosphere, intense romance and poetic writing. that’s the assemble you get and it works
while reading this book I rapidly understood that I wasn’t the target audience for it. the first 50% were a rollercoaster of ups and downs for me:
- I love reading how the threads of love were described, it was beautiful and poetic BUT the way the story was narrated was lengthy and a bit like it was showed knowing the reader was there
- the love story was intense and entertaining with the bits of unhinged-ness in it BUT I was also cringed out a lot (it had a vibe of king & queen I’m not particularly a fan of) (also not a fan of the spice but that really just my personal taste)
while these things kept occurring in the last 50% the story became more interesting to me bc the plot was entertaining. it gave us funny moment, endearing found family moments and heart racing moments which at the end became my favourite thing about the whole book
overall, I wasn’t that invested in the romance but much more in the plot/mystery and the relationships between characters until I ended up really invested in the found family. I will continue this series just for that!

I have never read the original book, so my opinion and thoughts are based solely on this version. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually liked this book. I've been struggling to get invested in a romance book lately, but I finished this one in a single sitting! I don't have any critical, in-depth criticisms because, with romance books, I mostly judge the overall vibe, and this book had a great one. I found it easy to turn the pages and was genuinely invested in the two main characters.
While the plot wasn't life-changing, and there were moments where I thought their conflict could have been resolved in less than a minute if they had just talked, the story remained entertaining. I believe the key to a successful romance book is to make the readers root for the characters, and the author nailed that in this second-chance romance. Don't expect a life-changing piece of literature, but you will be thoroughly entertained. Give this book a shot and let me know what your thoughts are!

this book, and these characters, will forever hold a special place in my heart, i absolutely adore every version of cade and ella, and i think this one has to be my favourite by far. they’re so much more obsessed, unhinged, and crazy for each other and i love them for it. the pining? the tension? the obsession? literally had me hooked right from the start! these two would die, and kill (quite literally) for each other even when they were apart.
i loved the mentions of all the side characters, some of them are some of my absolute favourites and reading about them again is always so fun<3
i love cadella with all my heart and they deserve the absolute world after all the shit they’ve been through, and i’m so happy they finally get their happy ending<3

Trapped With You (remastered) is an extended version of the book, which follows Ella and Cade in their second chance, mafia dark romance.
I mostly enjoyed this book although I struggled a bit with the split narrative between the past and present. I enjoyed the past parts, where we saw the development of their relationship but was a bit disconnected with the 'present' - I wasn't expecting it to be mostly only following one evening and found that part a bit slower going. I also wasn't super keen on their extreme possessiveness of each other, although I'm sure many dark romance lovers will like that! I felt that Ella and Cade weren't super developed beyond their obsession with each other so did struggle to connect a bit but enjoyed it in terms of smut/dark romance.
It is a dark romance, in terms of spice and violence, so do be aware of that! But if you're a fan of second chance dark romance with a bit of mafia on the side, then give Trapped With You a go!

I feel this may be due to the age the characters are meant to be (19 at present and 16 in the past). It definitely wasn’t the authors strong point.
I found the story interesting and enjoyed that it was mainly focused over a few days, with some flash backs. It was refreshing to have a more compact timeline and I believe it helped flesh out the story and be more convincing.
All in all, it was a fun read! If you’re looking for a spicy, morally grey book - this is the one ✨

ella + cade’s story is a fast-paced second chance mafia romance with two MCs who are incredibly in love and obsessed with one another
I liked that the book took place over a few days and had a more condensed timeline while including flashbacks as well- it’s easy to get sucked into the plot and you want to find out more about why ella and cade are no longer together which is the main conflict throughout the book
some of the dialogue was a bit inauthentic/repetitive to me at times but there were also parts that felt very genuine and so sweet I wanted to cry
there was a bit of an “insta-love” trope that started off their relationship which I didn’t love but as it progressed, you can see how deeply in love with each other they are and it feels more authentic
this definitely kept me guessing and is a page turner once you get past the flaws. definitely look up trigger warnings because there is some dark content!!! also, this is a very spicy read, gets 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ from me!

I love stories where i can feel the tension, heartache, passion, & longing from a couple and this book DID THAT! i love the aspects of suspense/thrills this had in the background to the romance. it added such good suspense. these two were soooo good I felt myself wanting them back together by page two. I'm so excited to see this authors future work, I'm definitely a marzy opal stan now

Loved it. The writing, the equally obsessive characters, the suspense, all were well put. Ella and Cade, their story made me feel so much. I've always loved second chance romance and I loved this book more. Loved Ella, our strong baddie fmc, and Cade, the morally grey man who'll burn for his girl. Loved how they came together after all the things they went through, how the mended each other's hearts, cleared misunderstandings. Small things that Cade and Ella did for each other showcasing their love and obsession, left me swooning.
Enjoyed the book!! Also Darla, God she was making me remember Corrupted by You so much and maybe it's my time to reread her book.

What can I say? I loved reading the story. The story is intense, with a mixture of tension, pain and love. The time jumps for me were well executed and something that I have loved since I opened the document is its layout, it was so beautiful that I imagined the book itself in my hands, in that it was a 10/10.
This book goes beyond dark romance, exploring friendships and betrayals, I admit that I was not planning to read a new and dark adult mafia romance, but it did not disappoint. It seemed like a kind of dark Romeo & Juliet + the Joker & Harley Quinn vibes to me 👀
The characters are really rude and obsessed with each other and that's why I live 😌☝🏻
I really liked the atmosphere of the gothic school and its description as well as the time jumps in the story since it helps you understand the relationship between the two of them a lot. Cade is a very (very) morally gray man but it's crazy how he is dedicated and devoted to his beloved Ella (I want someone like that).
This book is a good mix between romance and thriller which makes it quite interesting in my opinion. Ella's character development was wonderful. She realized her own mistakes and took responsibility for the end of their relationship and their friendship and that was very brave of her.
I love a possessive hero, but a possessive heroine just hits different 🤭 She was so unhinged and I loved every minute of it, Cade animating his alter egos, his dark side and using it for pleasure was exciting, just ✨ Cade Remington ✨
The book is an interesting mix of romance and thriller. I gave it 4.5/5 ⭐ because, although it could have been shorter, it is still a fascinating read (if you are sensitive to certain topics, it might not be for you)

I'm just sitting here like 😶 What did I just read?! But in a good way because I really enjoyed it. I've never read a book like this before.
You follow Cade, the adopted son of the mafia boss and Ella, the daughter of a wealthy family. There were their other half until one day she broke her.
They both had broken pieces of themselves after that night. But he was not going to let her go. I can tell you that this book is one I will never forget!

Trapped with You ARC review. This was a book that was sent to me that I did not sign up for. It did take me a little bit to get into it. It did jump from past to present quite a bit, which in all honesty made me a little frustrated and it seemed to make the story take longer. However, with that being said, it did explain the storyline very well and it did not leave you questioning anything about the characters and how they came to be!
Cade and Ella are a dark high school couple who find each other in a nonconventional way. He's the drug dealer in the area and she and her friends are looking for something to try. When they meet there is an instant connection and though they think they won't see each other again, they are both wrong!
Cade was adopted by his aunt and uncle after the death of his parents and the mistreatment of his previous guardian who also happened to be his uncle, along with his baby cousin. Now he went from having nothing to having everything at his fingertips, though he doesn't let it go to his head. He still works hard and tries to be the best he can for his family. Then when he is required to go to a dinner with family friends, he is not in the best mood and goes to have a smoke break before entering and his life is about to change!!!
Ella is the oldest and the pride and joy of her parents. She works at being the very best with everything so she does not disappoint her family and there is no room for any gossip. She has a small group of friends and that is ok with her. The one time she and her friends wanted to try something for the first time.... She comes face to face with a boy who stole her breath and permanently marked her thinking that was the end. During one night out on her balcony, she spots the boy from that quick meeting. They found each other at school and began a friendship although they were both wanting more. They both have a possessiveness about the other! Both have the touch him/her and die. She wants to brand him and he wants to live in her. During their time together they have all of their first together and one night someone is bound to see them torn apart as they want to make sure they end and can be conquered and ended..The story of things that are not what they seem is true in this case in the worst way! Can Ella and Cade come back from this???

I signed up for this ARC originally because I had never encountered such a thing! I find it so inspiring that Marzy knew she wasn’t fully satisfied with the original publication of this book and decided to make a few changes. I can say this book has phenomenal writing, and I’m bummed I hadn’t read the original publication in order to be able to make a comparison.
Ella and Cade are both delightfully morally gray, to the level of being chaotically unhinged. They are very well developed, with interesting complexity and traits. They are complimentary characters and genuinely well balanced. Ella and Cade have sizzling chemistry and if you are a fan of thai level five spicy romance, then you should definitely consider reading this book! I also really enjoyed the dual POV and Marzy moves between each of their perspectives with ease. The cast of side characters was really robust and diverse as well, and there was a definite teaser in the epilogue that makes me think there could be another book in the works!
I also like that the setting for this novel was a made-up city in central Canada. There was just enough world building to give a complete sense of place in the story, which I think was greatly helped by the descriptions of their former high school St. Victoria as well as Ella’s house. I was very jealous of Ella’s bedroom balcony by the end of the book, with the beautiful orange begonias and hummingbirds. SO ROMANCE!
While I found this book really enjoyable for the most part, there was one scene that was borderline for me. As always, you should check trigger warnings for anything that might impact your personal mental health. I will say, I’m glad I wasn’t too put off by it (it was pretty graphic though) because it is the pivotal scene around which the whole story is spun. If you read the list of triggers and choose to proceed, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

The first book in the Sins of Montardor series and Trapped With You was a deliciously dark and steamy young adult romance between the town’s dark prince, Cade Killian Remington, scion of one of the ruling criminal families and his twisted princess Ella Ximena Cordova. Cade and Ella’s love had burned brightly from the moment they met, until the night he broke her heart turning Ella’s love to a hate that burned just as fiercely.
This book sucked me in from the opening chapters. I loved the characters of Cade and Ella who were both as crazy as the other. Theirs was a passionate relationship with a dominant/submissive edge and a sizzling chemistry. Some of their sex scenes were seriously hot and filthy and I don’t mind admitting left me blushing! But underneath the bad boy exterior Cade was just such a cinnamon roll albeit one with a filthy mouth but only for his ‘mo chuisle’ and he was determined to win her back. Meanwhile feisty Ella was heartbroken and vicious in her actions. She knew exactly where to hit Cade and make it hurt but even as she hated him, she still wanted him. Fortunately, he wasn’t about to give up and was determined to make her listen to the truth about what had really happened that night.
Told from dual points of view, this well written story sucked me in from the opening chapters. With a large part of the action taking place at initiation night, held at their gothic-like former high school to provide a suitably atmospheric background, the plot evolved in a tale full of misunderstanding and miscommunication, of mystery and suspense and ultimately betrayal and revenge, all while an unknown enemy lurked in the background with their sights firmly fixed on Cade and Ella, relishing in the pain they’d brought about and who might be a lot closer than Cade or Ella realised. With a strong cast of intriguing secondary characters, I’m hoping for a lot more from the streets of Montardor and I’ll definitely be watching this author for news of their next release.
