They come from different eras. They know nothing about one another.
Their free humanity from history’s greatest secret.
Some were chosen by the gods, others by mistake… Yet each of them carries within themselves a piece of the great mystery.
To begin their journey, the youngest of them, Briseis, an ordinary 18-year-old, must escape the timeless Citadel – the great deceiver, the harbour of nightmare creatures that can slip into reality.
As the hourglass is running out and the Stairs of Time take our heroes to other ages, Briseis will have to learn to believe in legends in order to survive.
But how can they defeat the elusive dark force that swore to destroy the truth?
A tale of two books. The first half was brilliant, the second half egregious. I will not continue with the series.
The concept of the citadel is really well thought out, other than the sleeping arrangements. Co-ed open bay dormitories/barracks for teenagers will never work. The library and the competitive games were well done.
Then comes the second half of the book, in a totally different venue. I struggled to get through this, even at just a few pages at a time. It was disconnected from what had gone before and made little sense.
Errata: End of chapter 17, the word is spelled bait rather than bate Middle of chapter 20, the word should be strong rather than string.
