Sporting Pride #2

Catching Him

Rate this book
There was a time when Eric would stay a secret. Those days are gone. Oakley has no intention of hiding him. That’s not better.

Eric gave up everything to be with a professional athlete. He put his entire life on hold for his ex’s career while the man he loved kept him hidden from the world. Now he has nothing to show for those years but a broken heart and a bucketful of rage. Now there’s this new guy whose life is every bit as public. Eric won’t make the same mistake twice. Unfortunately, being the secret isn’t the only way to end up feeling like the fool.

Oakley spent years in the spotlight, leaving behind an amazing baseball record. He still finds ways to stay relevant. It’s possible he’s addicted to the attention. Meeting Eric gives him that same rush. The guy doesn’t want to want him, and Oakley can’t stop chasing him. Winning is in his blood. But the thrill he feels with Eric might not be the hunt. It may actually be his fall.

Catching Him is the second book in Charity Parkerson’s Sporting Pride series. These are sports-related romance, following men who find love while navigating high-profile careers. These are best enjoyed when read in order.

Eric is reeling from a past relationship where he sacrificed everything for a professional athlete's career, only to be kept a secret and left heartbroken and enraged. Now, he's wary of Oakley, a new man whose life is equally public. Eric is determined not to repeat his past mistake of being a hidden partner, fearing he'll again be made a fool of, even if it's not by being a secret. Oakley, a former baseball star addicted to public attention, finds a similar thrill in pursuing Eric, who is resistant to his advances. Winning is in Oakley's nature, and he relentlessly chases Eric. However, he begins to suspect that the intense feeling he experiences with Eric isn't just the thrill of the chase, but rather a profound emotional connection that could lead to his downfall or deepest attachment.

I loved this story because they started with a friendship and then developed feelings. There were a lot of emotions and feelings as Eric got over the hurt from his previous relationship and as he handled Oakley's secrets. I loved the medical challenge that was being faced as I have that too. I was really rooting for them and was invested in everything working out. Lots of passion and emotions in this story which was an MM story with mature content.

All.The.Stars.!!
I absolutely loved everything about this story.
It was exactly what I needed to read.
Everything was so unexpected. It was so hopeful and dealing with such
important issues. Eric and Oakley deserve the world and they might just get it.

This series is turning out to be so good. I'm so glad I discovered it.
I already cannot wait for the next one which was so blatantly teased in this book.

a sweet story

Oakley and Eric were so sweet together, i loved how much their love mattered over everything else. It was so good to see Eric find his HEA and Oakley finally getting the love he was worthy of despite his challenges.
