this is probably the most comforting series i have ever read and also the one nearest and dearest to my heart. ;__; literally everything that i love in one series.
I love the badger at the end, he is adorable. I liked this one a bit more then the last one. I liked how no one really knows if Hakumei is a boy or a girl lol, sometimes I wonder myself, but she does dress more girly then boyish. At one point in the story they are making cucumber sandwiches and she walks into the shower with Mikochi fully nude having a bath, like um that's awkward.
There's only one thing wrong with this manga, and that's that it's the last one. Volume 13 apparently came out in January, but the library doesn't have it quite yet. The whole series is amazing and I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone.
Read this twelfth volume of Takuto Kashiki's Hakumei & Mikochi Series after starting the series in 2023 for Reddit Fantasy's 2025 Bingo Square High Fashion. This qualifies for hard mode as one of the two protagonists, Mikochi, is a Tailor! She's also a great cook and this cozy fantasy features at on of food and drink, making it perfect for the Fantasy Food Themed Bingo card.
Look at how cottage core cozy fantasy everything is on the cover! Words cannot express how much I love this manga. Reading it always makes me happy. I only wish it wasn't just one issue a year. I read this 3 times over the 3 months I had this, sadly it's time to return the book so I am writing this review with a heavy heart.
Chapter 90 - Cucumber Sandwiches The ladies receive a delivery of Cucumber! It's large, there's lots so they begin experimenting on making various Cucumber Sandwiches. Generally these are bland but after this chapter I had the urge to eat some.
Chapter 91 - Inn and Local Products The ladies are on a little trip, they overnight at an Inn and explore the area's local cuisine. I am hungry again, and I'm not even a big fan of pickled food but dang, everything looks delicious.
Chapter 92 - Otter Boat and Children Hakumei is on a different Otter Boat than Mikochi, unfortunately a naughty child passenger makes the ride way more exciting than she expected.
Chapter 93 - Sweets and Blades Hakumei follows Mikochi to Harushina-san's home and business place, hoping to watch and learn how the artisan (the artiste) sharpens the superb blades she makes.
Chapter 94 - Festive Home Cooking Conjo, who we all know is a bit of a disaster in the kitchen, talks necromancer Sen into making a dish for the festival pot luck, with her help. It takes a bit of NOT Help for Sen to get over her insecurity and produce something wonderful.
Chapter 95 - Shyness And Apparel The next day's luncheon has a "Cute" dress code, so Mikochi and Koharu take Hakumei to the tailoring shop where they have a fun time trying outfits on her, much to her consternation (look at that face!) That is, until she picks the perfect one she likes.
Chapter 96 - Wooden Sandals and An Afternoon Drink Sometimes coffee proprietor Maya-chan needs a break, so she will take an unannounced day off. The ending was kind of ... sad.
Chapter 97 - The Cafe Of Her Dreams An insecure lady really wants to fit in at Cafe Glimmer, but she keeps overthinking and comparing herself to Hakumei and Mikochi, scaring herself, until at long last, the proprietor realizes how to make her comfortable. Aww.
Chapter 98 - A Secret Job The village's rear gate needs a full rebuild but they cannot afford it until Hakumei joins Rock Piercing Association Vice President Iwashi in volunteering to personally take the job at rock bottom prices. Their conversations give us more of his history as their friendship deepens.
A Day At Work - Ex. 12 This is the bad luck volume where author Kashiki details his year of horrible luck, including during his visit to England wit his sister! He did like the food though.
Sigh. Now I will have to wait another year for the next volume to come out. I really hope this series goes on, and on, for a very long time.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
