Last summer's secret becomes this Christmas's sweetest surprise.
Six months ago, Eloise had a one-night stand with a charming stranger and never expected to see him again—especially after sneaking out without so much as a goodbye. Now, with Christmas around the corner, last summer’s secret is about to surface in the most unexpected way.
The holiday season is meant to be the most wonderful time of the year, but for Dr. Eloise Parker, it's overshadowed by the demands of her residency and a relationship maintained more for her parents' sake than her own happiness. Her true passion, baking, remains a sidelined dream.
She's looking forward to a low-key Christmas in the charming town of Maple Hollow with her best friend, Susie. But her plans take a surprising turn when she comes face to face with Trevor Hall—Susie's brother and her one-night stand. Trevor, anticipating a serene holiday before his nomadic adventures, finds his plans thrown into disarray by Eloise's arrival. Their brief, fiery past encounter left an indelible mark, reigniting a mix of old emotions and unanswered questions.
Through Eloise and Trevor's alternating perspectives, this story delicately weaves together the threads of personal growth and the enduring magic of the holiday season, reminding us that sometimes the greatest gifts are the ones we never anticipated.

This was pretty enjoyable, and the 3 stars are a positive rating, there were just some things that bothered me.
╰┈➤ Starting with what i liked. The Christmas vibes were definitely there. It felt cozy, there were scenes of decorating the tree, gift-giving, playing in the snow and heartwarming family moments. That's honestly everything I wanted so I enjoyed those parts a lot.
╰┈➤Now, the main characters.
Eloise She is a doctor, finishing her residency, hating what she does but afraid of standing up to her parents. And I just felt like we got very little character from her. I didn't dislike her, but I can't say I formed a deeper connection with her either. Also, and that's just a personal ick of mine, but any character who is nearing 30 and is doing her job purely to satisfy her parents, and afraid of breaking up with her boyfriend won't do it for me, sorry not sorry 🥲
Trevor Again I felt like I got barely any personality from him... He was cute 😅 I don't have much more to say, though.
As for the romance itself it was very cute. Kind of rushed, considering the story covers only a couple of days during Christmas. My biggest issue was the dishonesty their relationship was being built on. There is also a slight little infidelity issue 🤏🏻 which I won't get into to avoid any major spoilers, but it might have been what I disliked the most. Plus, the whole aspect felt really overlooked by most of the characters.
Also, the 3rd act break-up. See, I knew it was coming from the very beginning and still somehow ended up disappointed. It was, again, rushed and provided no growth for them whatsoever.
The lack of growth in the characters was also something that really irked me a lot. The characters were changing their minds within seconds, out of nowhere, and I like to see progress actually happen.
Last thing, as a med student who spent her last summer internship on a gynecology/maternity ward, I could have done without the romanticizing of pregnancy as being best time in a woman's life and labor being a little hard, but overall magical. Not saying childbirth can't be a very meaningful experience in women's life but it's definitely not as pretty, nor as easy, as described. That's not me asking for a more realistic portrayal in a cutesy little romance, but I can't say I'm for the overly idealistic descriptions, either.
All in all, despite my ranting above I still enjoyed it. The vibes were exactly what I was looking for, and for most part it was enjoyable to read. I would still recommend it as a cozy, small-town, Christmas romance, but I wouldn't go into it expecting a next all-time favorite.

i figured if i want to read something christmasy i should do it before december ends 🫣
no expectations, just here for the holiday vibes 🎄🌟❣️
This wasn't really my type of book. It felt really rushed and unnatural. The characters were boring and had no substance, and there was no plot at all. I love the cover but the book was a no for me.
If you’re a major fan of hallmark movies, then by all means, read this book. I’ve seen a few HM films and I’m not the biggest fan of them cause they’re a touch cringe, but let’s just say that those movies are way better than this book!
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review…
The book had promise. The summary and cover is what caught my attention and I was excited to read it. But idk what happened. I didn’t like it at all. It started out good, but then it went downhill when the FL started calling her one night stand “that fateful day” like bruh what are we in? A fantasy novel? It wasn’t even bad. She just left as would one night stands would in movies. And then surprise, surprise it’s her best friend’s brother, *gasps dramatically* shocker.
It wasn’t even just that part of the story either, the FL’s choices were so bad that like up until 70% of the book she still hadn’t told Trevor (friends brother) that she needs to break up with her cheating boyfriend. I get the whole being scared of family and the disappointment thing, but seriously, they weren’t even around you should’ve told him.
Eloise’s BFF Susie was so annoying too. I hated her attitude throughout the whole book, I wanted to roll my eyes every time she started speaking. But hey when it got to 90% of the book, Susie finally had some wise words.
I didn’t have any issues with the ML since it wasn’t his fault he fell in love with a girl that was dishonest. Which btw, I’ve learn a valuable lesson from this book, honesty is definitely the best policy here. Cause ahhhh this book, smh
Not to mention, time stamp needed to be better. At the end of the book, there was 10mins left to New Year’s Day, but when Trevor said what he needed to say, it was suddenly 5 seconds to count down. If the author worded it to maybe 5-few mins left then it would’ve been better. Cause that time jump was like wtf.
This quote. That quote right there ^^ is the only one I like, courtesy of Trevor. I wasn’t even half way through the book and I was hoping it would be over soon.
It was also refreshing cause it was a clean romance, with second chance, slow burn… but eh would be nice to have more.
Overall, not a fan of this book, sadly. Don’t think I’d read more from this author unfortunately. There were also a few grammar mistakes in the book well I think were. Some back and forth speech had question marks at the end. Idk if they were questions or not but I confused me.
“One kiss from you only made me want more. One night with you made me need more. And one Christmas with you sure as hell wasn’t enough.”
This Christmas romcom by Mari Suggs was absolutely adorable! If you are looking for the perfect Hallmark vibe story with a a fun Christmas town, an amazing family, and a couple that you can’t help but root for, look no further! I related so strongly to Eloise’s desire to make her family happy, even if it’s making you actively unhappy. As an oldest daughter, we want to make our family happy and proud. And it is hard to make that decision to step off the path that they choose for us and follow the dreams that we have for ourselves. Trevor was literally the perfect person to help her make that decision. Maple Hollow is the sweetest town and I loved how they go all out for Christmas. If this is a real town, I simply must visit. Trevor and his family are amazing and I loved how they just accepted Eloise instantly and how much they supported her. The banter between Trevor and Eloise (I loved Eloise book when I was a kid, by the way!) and how hard Trevor tried to let her know that he was truly interested in her as a person. If this book isn’t on your tbr, you need to add it right now!
I’ve given this 🌟🌟 🌟 /5, because although I enjoyed it on the hole, there were elements I thought could have been improved.
Starting with what I liked:
- It felt very festive and I loved the setting of the book. It’s in a cute Christmas almost village and cabin which feels so cosy. - The dynamic between Susies family melts your heart because it just feels so much like a warm loving family that you would love to visit. - It was a very easy read and also short at 200 pages, so nice to get stuck into! - It’s very wholesome, Eloise following her heart standing up for herself, following her dream job and mixing with the new family.
What I thought could be improved:
- Because it is such a short book obviously the pace of the book is pretty fast. This is not a bad thing, but it leaves gaps in character development to really get attached to them, although this is also probably an event of personal preference. - It felt like there was a lot of different plot events thrown into the mix for such a short book so that each element was underdeveloped. This is partly because of the type of book that it is, which again, is not a bad thing. It just isn’t a book where you are going to feel very emotional and attached to characters I don’t believe.
Would I recommend this book? If you enjoy a Hallmark Christmas film then yes, I would. It will put you in a festive mood and it is a quick and easy read. If you are looking for something with a little more depth and emotional attachment, then probably not. But overall it was a reasonably good, easy festive read!
Thank you for the opportunity NetGalley and Mari Suggs!

I just can't make myself care enough about anything happening in this very empty book to push through it. It truly feels as though we're just going through the motions of a Hallmark Christmas movie with juvenile writing and none of the emotion.
I really wanted to like this book, but sadly, I hate it here.
Thank you again to NetGalley and Mari Suggs for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book!
I’m honored to have been a beta reader for this sweet holiday romance. It had all the Christmas vibes alongside a story than melted the heart. If you are looking for a quick clean Christmas romance - this one is for you!

WARNING: minor spoilers are mentioned below!!
One Christmas with You by Emily Stone is a delightful holiday romance that is as heartwarming as it is heartfelt. I went into this book expecting a cozy, Hallmark-style read, and it absolutely delivered. The charming small-town setting of Maple Hollow, paired with the sparks between Eloise and Trevor, provided the perfect escape into a festive world of second chances and personal growth.
The story follows Dr. Eloise Parker, a driven medical resident who is trying to balance her demanding career with the expectations of her family. She’s also carrying the weight of a secret - a one night stand with Trevor Hall, which, as fate would have it, resurfaces when she arrives in Maple Hollow for the holidays. Trevor, who had his own plans for a quiet Christmas, is equally taken aback by the reunion, and their fiery connection quickly reignites. The alternating perspectives of Eloise and Trevor allow readers to see both sides of their relationship and the emotional struggles they each face.
The writing in One Christmas with You is warm and easy to follow, which makes this book an ideal winter read. The pacing is quick, and the plot unfolds in a way that feels both predictable and comforting, much like a classic holiday movie. If you’re looking for something light and festive, this book will surely hit the spot.
That being said, there were a few elements that didn’t sit entirely well with me. The portrayal of birth as purely magical felt a bit too idealized for my taste, especially considering that birth can be a difficult and traumatic experience for many women. While this might resonate with some readers, I felt it glossed over the complex realities of childbirth that some women face.
Additionally, Eloise’s reluctance to reveal the truth to Trevor when given several opportunities felt frustrating, even though I knew it was a hallmark-style trope. The lack of communication between the characters, particularly in their third-act breakup, was predictable but still a bit unsatisfying for me personally.
Despite these minor issues, One Christmas with You is a cute and sweet Christmas read. The ending left me with a huge smile on my face ... it was the perfect conclusion to a lighthearted, festive romance.
One of the standout elements for me was the character of Susie. She was the best friend everyone deserves - supportive, loving, and selfless. I especially loved the heartwarming moment when Susie named her daughter after Eloise. It was a beautiful and touching tribute to their friendship that added an extra layer of warmth to the story.
Overall, this book is a charming holiday escape that is perfect for fans of feel-good romances. It’s filled with sweetness, personal growth, and a touch of magic. While there were a few aspects that felt a bit too idealized or predictable, the overall story is sure to leave you feeling festive and content.
I was so hooked on Eloise and Trevor, following in their footsteps and slowly understanding where their feelings came from, but when I got halfway through the book they lost me. . Eloise is in one of her last years of residency, completely exhausted from giving everything to meet the goals and obligations expected by others, her parents, her friends and her boyfriend. Struggling to make and have her decisions respected, she dedicates herself fully to work but when she finds out that the Christmas break she was going to spend with her family becomes a social event where she will have to face the situation, she simply cannot do it and her best friend decides to invite her to spend it with her family in her hometown that looks out of a Christmas book. . What Trevor least expects, right after selling all his things and putting what he needs in a backpack to go around the world, is to find in his parents' house the woman he cannot forget, his one night stand that he never saw again. And who he shouldn't approach after discovering that she is his sister's best friend. But being in a cozy cabin spending magical moments and learning more about each other becomes impossible to keep their distance. . A little spoiler alert, but I have to talk about it to explain why I didn’t love it: I couldn't get over the number of times she had the opportunity to explain herself, the opportunity to come clean about what happened that one night stand months ago and then my enthusiasm went down the hill. I can't get over the fact that they moved on. I think if she had talked about her problems and current situation, and given him time to work out his emotions I would have enjoyed the ending so much. . But I enjoyed the setting, the small town who loves Christmas so much and sound wonderful, the characters around the story and the dynamics of the main characters with them, also...the chemistry between the two main characters it was really good, and this whole cheating situation lowers me one point, it's one of my big No in romance books, I don’t care for excuses it doesn’t work for me . Thanks to Mari Suggs and her team for give me a copy of this book for my honest and voluntary opinion.
It's really easy to fall for a story when you love the characters and the setting. Maple Hollow is a quaint town in Georgia that LOVES holidays. They go ALL out for Christmas and with the town as the backdrop, the magic of the season exudes throughout this adorable tale.
Dr. Eloise Parker is the quintessential people pleaser. All her choices revolve around making other people happy. She went to medical school to please her doctor dad and is now close to completing her residency. She's dating a doctor. And she's miserable. This isn't the life she would design for herself, but she feels too guilty to tell her family after all they've done for her.
When she finds out her boyfriend is to be attending Christmas with her parents, she balks. Things are already shaky between them and the LAST thing she wants is to spend her favorite time of year in an awkward position. Her best friend, Susie, invites her to spend Christmas with her and her family in a cabin in Maple Hollow. Eloise jumps at the chance and makes up an excuse that she has to work.
Enter Trevor, Susie's brother who had a fleeting encounter with Eloise 6 months ago. That she never mentioned to the bestie. And now he's here. At the cabin where she's supposed to spend the holiday.
I loved Susie & Trevor's mom Laura. She is the mom we all want. Grandpa Carl is quiet, but observant - popping in with the wisdom in clutch moments. The family is adorable as a unit. Christmas cookie baking & snowman making are tradition for the Hall clan.
Eloise & Trevor have playful banter. They make you want to root for them. Throughout the book, they both see growth. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lies from Eloise. She had multiple opportunities to open up, and she had me yelling at her to just let her people in. Let them see the mess. It's okay not to be perfect.
Thank you NetGalley & Mari Suggs for the ARC of One Christmas With You. I read it in a day & it hit on all this feels I needed for the holiday mood.
I like the concept of the book, not too cliche but help drives the plot. Eloise was hurt and serendipitously met the guy that be THE One. Seemingly perfect, she's hurt, he's damage, one night and move on type deal. Who knew that he's her best friend's brother. Eloise was invited to spend Xmas with her bestie and her family and as you can imagine all the close proximity force them to face the music.
I love how Trevor & Susie's family took her in, and even though they had hoped Trevor reunite with his bestie from childhood, he already gave his heart to Eloise. The family is warm and kind, unlike her own which is cold and stoic. By the way, love Grandpa, who sees but don't speak unless is needed to be said. You can see how Eloise can fit into Trevor's life that he's running from so perfectly. But he's trying to give her space and she can't make up her mind.
I will say, her miscommunications skill stinks and he's too patience and giving her too much space where he gets frustrated. I don't mind a bit of that, but the going back and forth and the indecisiveness dragged on a bit longer than it needs to. The antithesis was very anti-climatic, and how they got back together wasn't as excited as a grand gesture should be. I want to love this book, but it is missing something.
Thank you NetGally & Xpresso Book Tour for the ARC.
Feeling pressured by her parents and not so good boyfriend, Eloise decides to escape for the Holidays and spend Christmas with her best friend's family. What she didn’t expect was to be spending Christmas with the one-night stand she had six months ago, who turned out to be her best friend’s brother. Trevor decides to spend the holidays with the family before starting new adventures in Europe after selling his business. When he arrives and bumps into Eloise, he begins to think that his holiday might just get a little sweeter, until she tells him to keep that they know each other a secret. Over Christmas, they both are forced to face the weight of their parent's expectations. Eloise must decide if she is willing to sacrifice her parent’s approval to follow her heart. I really loved Eloise’s character growth. I don’t generally like the cheating trope but it did bring growth and tension into the story. I enjoyed the flashbacks to when Eloise and Trevor met as well as the relationships Eloise builds with Trevor’s family. This holiday romance has complex emotions, baking, and found family. The town of Maple Hallow sets the scene for this cute and cozy romance with Hallmark vibes. Thank you Netgalley and Mari Suggs for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
This was a really cute premise! Girl and boy are on the outs. Boy cheats. Girl meets another boy and has a ONS. Girl and first boy stay together. Six months later, girl meets the second boy again and they fall in love. While still with the first boy. Third act conflict. HEA.
I’m a fan of second chance romance, but not the cheating part - which is a huge crux of the whole thing. I liked Trev and Eloise as a couple, but Eloise was not my favorite character. In some ways I get her, but I feel like I couldn’t find her relatable at all. But maybe it was just the way she was written.
This is also not my favorite writing style, so that might be a part of my lower rating. There wasn’t as much dialogue as I normally like, and there wasn’t a whole lot of fluidity between paragraphs (writing felt stilted).
But I did like the other characters (not you Chris, go fall down a sidewalk grate). I enjoyed Susie and Chase and Ava. I think the parents and grandpa were grade A in terms of their features in the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and team for the ARC, it was a nice easy holiday read!

I love the idea of this book, and it totally gives off the small-town Christmas-y vibes that I was craving, BUT I really wish Eloise was more likeable. She has horrible decision-making skills, from staying with (and not confronting!?) her boyfriend, Chris, to essentially doing the EXACT same thing to Chris that he did to her...I just feel like she needed more self-growth before getting a happily ever after. Poor Trevor honestly deserved better. AND SUSIE. Eloise's best friend in the world. She is literally dealing with Eloise's drama WHILE SHE IS ACTIVELY IN LABOR AND FRESHLY POSTPARTUM. She is a saint and, again, Eloise just comes off as a really unlikeable, immature person. I did like that she finally put a stop to her people-pleasing ways and stood up for herself to her parents in the end. And despite finding Eloise annoying I did really enjoy this! Thanks Netgalley for the e-ARC!

The Christmas season is upon us, and I think this is a good Christmas pick. Light on spice but big on drama 😅.
What would you do when you spend Christmas with your best friend's family and you find out the stranger who you had a one-night stand with is her brother? 😂😂. Trevor was a whole vibe, and I totally love him 🤭🤭.
This would have been easy had it been Eloise was not in a relationship with Dr. A$$hole and if she had not discovered that said doctor was cheating on her and who, by the way, she is still with. 😑 All through this book, I kept screaming, Eloise!! Because she was driving me crazy with her decisions concerning her relationship and her parents. Oh, thank God for Trevor. 🤭😍
This book will take you back and forth because there is a lot of drama in this book, some that will make you roll your eyes and some that is so unnecessary. 😅.
Thank you Mari Suggs and NetGalley for this book! It was a lovely read before the holiday season is upon us!

A sweet, wholesome holiday novel about second chances and an unexpected love story. Eloise and Trevor’s story is a delightful blend of past sparks reignited, unexpected revelations, and the kind of small-town coziness that feels like a warm cup of cocoa on a winter night. Eloise and Trevor's chemistry leaps off the page, particularly as their alternating dual pov brings humor, tension, and vulnerability to their interactions. The novel doesn’t shy away from deeper themes like personal growth, family pressure, and finding one’s true calling, all wrapped up in the festive magic of Christmas. Perfect for readers who enjoy Hallmark Christmas movies!
Eloise is a medical doctor in residency, burnt out and unable to face celebrating Christmas with her family and her boyfriend, a fellow doctor who is a bit of a egotistical jerk but meets her parents approval. She accepts an invitation to spend the holidays with her bestie's family in the cosy Maple Hollow. Only when they arrive she finds the one-night-stand she has been pining for over the last 6 months is her best friend's brother Trevor, who is about to take off travelling the world. So while she tries to avoid falling for him, she falls for his family - his mum is such a sweetheart and brings out Eloise's joy in baking and makes her rethink her future.
It's definitely got hallmark romance vibes, but with some spice. I'm not usually a fan of cheating, even if the partner is a jerk, but it did bring the tension and conflict. Overall a cosy holiday romance that I enjoyed.
I really enjoyed this book and would gladly read it again! The story struck the perfect balance between heartfelt emotion, personal growth, and the cozy magic of the holiday season.
Eloise and Trevor’s dynamic was a highlight for me—their fiery past encounter made for some wonderfully awkward and touching moments when they were thrown back together in Maple Hollow. I loved how their alternating perspectives gave insight into their individual journeys, from Eloise reconnecting with her passion for baking to Trevor finding more to life than his nomadic lifestyle.
The small-town holiday charm of Maple Hollow added a delightful backdrop, making it impossible not to feel swept up in the magic of the season. This is a warm, romantic read that’s perfect for curling up with by the fire. Highly recommended!
This was a lovely Christmas book. It gives a lot of Hallmark vibes but in a good way. I like the setting, and the mmcs family was amazing. The romance was the weakest part of the story. I didn't like how it started and how many lies the fmc said. I also didn't like the miscommunication and the fact that the heroine could have told the truth so many times but didn't. I liked the hero a bit more, but still, I wasn't fully in with them as a couple. Overall, this was a fun, sweet read. Perfect for the season.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was given an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
One Christmas With You was such a sweet little romance that had a lot of the things I'm looking for when reading a Christmas book. I want close families, close towns and love interests who love each other and who are brave enough to fight for what and who they want. This book gave me all of that. I loved that Eloise finally stood up for herself and did what she had to do for herself so she could be happy. Trevor was a little bit annoying with his whole minimalist attitude, which almost brought me down when it came to celebrating but he eventually made me like him.
One thing I didnt particularly enjoy was the whole aspect of Chris and the relationship behind him and Eloise. SPOILER! I wasn't a fan of the whole cheating aspect even though the relationship was by all accounts over I dont condone an eye for an eye type of situations. END SPOILER.
The stand out for me was Susie. I LOVED HER SO MUCH! best best friend ever!
All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more from the author.

This is everything you want from a romance novel. From the characters, to the setting and then the plot, it delivers in every way. I loved the character development and reconciliations that were found along the way. Centering this around Christmas only made it that much more entertaining and magical. There are moments of tension, passion and conflict that just keep you wanting to turn the page. Definitely recommend for my fellow romance genre lovers and could even be a gateway book for non-romance readers to experience what makes this genre so special ❤️
This is such a cute and sweet read. The characters were likeable and relatable, usually there will be a character in a book that I find irritating, but they were all lovely! Apart from Chris though - he was awful!
This is a book to read if you’re looking for low angst and pure romance. You should be aware that cheating is a theme throughout, however there is no cheating between the main characters.
Overall a lovely cozy read, full of Christmas spirit.
This book had great potential. I loved the cozy holiday vibes. However, the characters felt flat. Eloise is immature and weak. Not that she wasn't in a tough position with her controlling parents, but she had zero backbone. She couldn't even be honest with her best friend. There were too many typos for my liking as well. I just couldn't finish this one. Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy.
👉🏻 Requested on Netgalley in return for an honest review! 👈🏻
Cute Christmas romance, but the Hallmark vibes are shooting through the roof! Not much depth, dialogue wasn't always great and hoped for a bit more spice. This is a typical romance set in a typical little town with typical experiences. Fun to read in between but don't expect uniqueness.
I absolutely loved this! It is my first Christmas romance and it didn’t disappoint. It really kept me reading and the scene setting was amazing. Trevor and Eloise are both relatable characters and the Christmas spirt was captured so well by Mari. I hope she writes another holiday romance.
This was a fun Christmassy romance novel about a second-chance set in a small town. This book explores themes of personal growth, the magic of the holiday season, and unexpected gifts. If you're into heartwarming holiday romances, this might be a great read for you!
Sweet one-night stand repercussions story. A light-weight Christmas version of "Part of Your World" without the the spice or character development. Great book for a light holiday romance and to add to your holiday reading options instore.
🎄Sexy Hallmark Christmas ❄️ Best friend’s brother 🎅Found family ⛄ Dual POV 🎁 Small town romance
My first festive read of the season!
I was given a copy in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to @mariesugg for this ARC! One Christmas with You is now available on Amazon!
Maple Hollow is the most precious, truly bringing the best small-town vibes. I felt really at home reading about this cheerful town and really found myself wishing I could transport myself there! I need a warm fireplace and one of Eloise’s sugar cookies ASAP.
I truly felt a part of the family with the found family trope in this book. It felt like you were a part of the family and were wrapped up in a warm hug. There were definitely features of family tension between the wholesome fluff but what holiday family occasion doesn’t?
This I would classify as “sexy Hallmark Christmas” as it has the wholesome Hallmark energy with some spice on the side. Trevor and Eloise definitely had undeniable chemistry.
I love the mixture of real-world issues with the added holiday romance. However, I do feel like a lot of plot points were being thrown into the mix toward the end but didn’t allow enough time for those flavors to fully develop. Sometimes, simple is best. But I never found myself getting bored and was racing to get to the end to see what happened with our two turtledoves. I always adore a happy ending, especially during the holiday season. Love conquers all.
Always remember, reading is extremely personal and very subjective, we are all allowed to have different opinions. That is absolutely okay and beautiful. Happy reading. ✨🩷🫶
