The Fall of Saturn: The Vaida Love Chronicles Book Two

Rate this book
Book two in the captivating “science fiction meets urban fantasy” reverse harem series by author Ginger Rose. The Vaida Love Chronicles is thick on plot and sprinkled with spice.

“You want the truth, Vaida? Well, here it is…”

Two months ago, I joined Team Saturn, the number one alien hunting team in the city. I thought I was prepared for any fight, any battle, any alien that came my way.

I was wrong.

I’ve been hunted, stalked, attacked, and nearly kidnapped. But then my team uncovered a secret so explosive, it could destroy everything we know.

Now, my team—my men—and I are going rogue. We’re going undercover to stop these assholes from using us and destroying Earth.

With every alien we hunt and every secret we uncover, my fury grows.

I’m nothing but a pawn being used in the middle of this intergalactic war. Too bad they don’t know who the f-ck I am.

I’m Vaida Love and I’ll take them all down with me.

Ginger Rose is an indie romance author from Sydney, Australia.

With a focus on reverse harem, urban fantasy, and science fiction, Ginger writes stories that will intimidate your boyfriend. Her books are thick with plot and sprinkled with spice.

Ginger’s first love has always been writing - as a young teen, she spent many hours writing vampire fanfics under cringey pseudonyms. To this day, she still has faith a five hundred year old vampire will sweep her away to go live in a castle in a forest somewhere.

When not obsessing over magical, mythical, and extraterrestrial creatures, Ginger loves video games, live music, travel, and margaritas.

ARC review

!!!!!No explicit spoilers but have included my favourite quotes. You’ve been warned!!!!!!

Just know I’m a simple gal, books get a shiny five stars if I struggle to put them down. This book was 100% in that category - utter obsession.

Love the shade in the dedication:

This book is dedicated to my high school English teacher. “Whilst interesting to read, the theme of your creative writing piece was rather inappropriate.” Amen to that.

FMC - Vaida

Shes started to allow herself to be more vulnerable but she’s still kick ass.
Her skills are sharp as is her wit - she’s written well and you’ll enjoy having a laugh with her (at her? Haha)

MMCs
Jude:

“Suffering is worth it for you.”

Hmmm I find him a little bit manipulative with the telepathy. Constantly crossing mind boundaries despite being told not to.
But our favourite alien is all about proving himself as a competent member to the team - not as easy as you may think!

Sirus:

“I don’t know what I want.”

Hot asshole. Just my type in book boyfriend. He’s trying to keep a clear head but we already know his obsession with Vaida is causing him mental strain. Giving in to that obsession? Not so easy.

Kit:

‘-No matter what happens, I will always be by your side. You won’t ever truly be alone again, Minxy.”

Just the most lovingly honest character. Great cook too. I would love to be some filling for your sandwich.

Plot:
Yes. It’s there and it’s strong. Vaida is putting the pieces together about her life and discovering who she is.
We see some hiccups but altogether good communication between characters (helped along by some telepathy) and we also get some plot puzzles which are very fun to decipher.
As with books such as this - you know you’ll eventually get a HEA so you have to enjoy the ride. I want my HEA now!!
World building is solid, didn’t feel clunky or difficult to follow. Not an easy feat.

Smut:
YES. As promised there’s a decent sprinkle of smut and it’s delicious, AND it centres around the plot. It’s not just shoved in for no reason and cringy.

Cliffhanger:
Chapter 18 had me hoping the author would take her own advice…
And she kinda did! The cliffhanger is a real OH SHIT moment but I’m not in agony.
I’m absolutely gasping for the next book - why do I do this to myself with these incomplete series.

AMAZING! Read the books. Now.

Some highlights:

‘There was no bigger mood-killer than a torn clit.’

“What if I was a worm?”

“I have you. I will never feel alone again.”

Loved the chapter 13-14 transition. Some things just don’t need explicit scenes. Let the reader fill in the blanks. Except for smut - detail that stuff always.

‘I was sure there were comically cartoonish love hearts in my eyes right then.’

‘I was gone—thrown out of an airplane’

“You were made for me, after all.”

“My heart.”

‘Every part of me wants every part of you’

‘-we probably both needed to speak to a professional about our violent tendencies,’

“You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen,”

✨ New Review ✨

Title: The Fall of Saturn
Author: Ginger Rose
Genre/s: Scifi / urban fantasy / romance
My format: eBook 📱
Feels: 🥹😂🤬🫣
Nicknames: V, Kitty Cat, Space Boy, and Mac Daddy
Tropes:
✨ why choose
✨ bounty hunters
✨ well-written spice woven throughout
✨ plot-heavy
✨ a mix of slow burn and fast burn within the group
✨ forbidden romance

It’s as if Buffy, Star Trek, Continuum, Brooklyn 99, and NCIS were all thrown into a blender to create the best dystopian SciFi cocktail.

So I may or may not have dropped EVERYTHING for this ARC…. worth it.

I LOVED the first book so when Ginger said this one was ready and coming? I simply could NOT wait to read it.

Ginger continues this right from where book 1 ended with that glorious cliffhanger, and the world building and character development just continues into this seamlessly. These men of Vaida’s are incredibly well-developed and I am super excited to keep reading about them in book 3.

There is spice woven in (and good spice at that) but it’s always used to further the emotional connection or the plot - and what a great plot it is! A few twists and turns, some I had guessed, some I hadn’t.

Just… ngh. I need more!

Alright, we’re back with book two in the 𝘝𝘢𝘪𝘥𝘢 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘴, where the stakes are higher, the betrayals are juicier, and, blessedly, the spice level has been dialed all the way up.

This time, Vaida’s juggling her new identity and the team dynamics are, well, complex, to put it mildly. She's stepping up her game - powers are growing, secrets are spilling, and Space Boy is on the hook for holding onto some serious intel about his past. Meanwhile, the Director’s sniffing around the team, wondering why they’ve been slacking on the whole 'alien extermination' front.

Ginger has the absolute 🇦‌🇺‌🇩‌🇦‌🇨‌🇮‌🇹‌🇾‌ to end this one in another cliffhanger. If there were ever a time to throw a Kindle across the room (lovingly), this is it.

And yes, I am still holding out hope for a certain four-way “𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙭𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙚.” Come on, Ginger, throw us a bone here. Or three 😉

Following Ginger’s career from the very start has been such a joy. She’s a gem of an Aussie author, and watching her world and characters grow has been incredible. Ginger, keep bringing the spice, the space boys, and the shocks, and I’ll be here for every single page.

Holy cow, this book had me hooked from the get go! (To be honest I was still hooked, line and sinker from the first book). The story continues of Vaida and her men (swoon!) Action packed and full of sass, romance and spice gallore. I will absolutely be buying a physical copy when available to add to my book trophy shelf. Readers of the first book 'The Return of Saturn' are given exactly what we wanted in the second book 'The Fall of Saturn'. I eagerly await book 3 as the story continues for Vaida, Kitty Cat, Space Boy and of course Mac Daddy!

Oh. My. God. I thought I was obsessed after The Return of Saturn? I knew nothing. This book is an AMAZING sequel, and I literally could not put it down. Vaida is a wicked main character that knows what she wants, and won't stop until she gets it. Jude, Kit and Mac are so clearly described, I feel like I know them all personally. The world building in this series has been wonderful, and I can't wait to see where we go from here.

Phenomenal. I could not put it down.
I didn't think book 2 could be better than book 1, but here we are!

Cannot wait for book 3.
