93 chapters...

It was okay. Mainly smut, so if you're into that, you won't bother much about the story, probably.
For people that come for the plot, however, you'll likely be disappointed. Or annoyed. Unless you love triangle-drama.
I'm not really a fan of love-triangles, so...

All the time I just screamed at them to get into a poly relationship, because it fit. Or go all in different directions. At first I wanted Sungji, the blonde haired, to get out of there asap, but then it turns out that she's just as toxic. Rip. (Well, not as unhealthy as the other two, but still.)
It was simply an on-and-off relationship between Sumin and Sungji, while constantly having Seju there too. Seriously, why not let them be in a poly? At least they won't have to be jealous over one another all the time and would fight less perhaps.
Tbh I don't ship either of them, but since the author did want them to end up together somehow, why not just make it poly. Keep the toxicity close.

Although I did love the ending, when one of them finally let go. That was so refreshing.

You can typically tell something is based on a webtoon in five seconds flat, in my experience. The usual dead giveaway is the minimal background work and frequently hideous and CGI-looking furniture. Seriously.

This is a massive, many page volume about the life of Seongji, a new hire at a company who is so beautiful that everybody is far too nervous to approach her. But she turns out to be really on the ball and knows what she’s doing.

She meets up with the section chief, Sumin, who is actually the star of this story, if we’re being honest. Seongji is just another in the very, very long line of fictional people who are in their twenties who have no clue about romance.

Sumin has no such problem, except she got burned very hard by her romance with Saeju. Who is the president of their company. And they’re all women. And Sumin and Saeju are still having sex.

A lot of sex, as it turns out. This volume ain’t lying about the mature content warning. It’s not exactly the most compelling or titillating, for my money, but to each their own. There’s a stringy, Aeon Flux-esque quality to the character designs that doesn’t quite work for me.

Yet it makes sense, as this is girls’ love with a side of self loath. Sumin is really into the release of sex because she’s not dealing well with her trauma. Seonji very much helps her with the latter and change may be afoot.

The general flow is Seonji realizing she actually likes somebody and being bad at acting on it, as if she had been living in a cave. This might be down to cultural differences, but it just plays out to me as really stunted. There’s a difference between slow burn and being weird because you’re trying not to smile at somebody.

Sumin is the character who really made this interesting and, even then, it took until the flashback about her parents to reach that point. She and Saeju have a very complicated relationship, to put it mildly. Emotionally apart, but physically very into one another.

I’m not going to say this is bad, but once again we have something that worked fine as a quick, segmented, online read not entirely standing up to scrutiny when it comes time to collect and make a book out of it. There’s frequently a ‘round peg in a square hole’ feel to these that I don’t love.

And I see the appeal, especially if you are looking for a lesbian graphic novel with adults having sex and being total messes. That’s definitely got you covered. There’s just a bit of an amateurish quality to it that I don’t love.

There is a bit of a hook here - Seonji and Sumin could be very good for one another, but there’s a lot of baggage on Sumin’s part. Plus we have zero idea how Saeju will actually take that pairing or try and get in the middle of it (which I could see this story taking figuratively or literally). It doesn’t lack for plot, more for execution.

3 stars - don’t love the art, the characters sometimes lack depth, but it has a couple of worthwhile points. Whether I do a second volume is legitimately going to be down to what other books are coming out the same week. It’s fine, but not a pressing concern to read more.

Not my type of thing...

3.5, very good but could be better :) I wish it was more focused on the present and not the past because going back and forth makes me so confused

Review of advance copy received from Edelweiss+

As the newest hire of a game dev studio, Sungji (24) draws all the attention of her coworkers - but it's her bossy, blunt and aloof team leader Sumin (34) that intrigues her. Unfortunately, the older woman is tied up by her ex, company president Seju (34), who has one thing Sungji severely lacks - experience in love and lust. And so a love triangle ensues, following Sungji’s present pursuit of Sumin and Seju’s tumultuous relationship with her in the past.

Thank you Yen Press and Edelweiss for the e-arc copy.

WDTFS is a mature GL/yuri office setting manhwa. It has enough of drama, realistic issues, adult problems, steamy scenes and emotions (I feel rollercoaster incoming), throughout the flashbacks and current timeline. Vol. 1 focuses more on Seju and Sumin's scenes, but we do have enough of Sungji's moments too.

Sungji seems calm, collected and quite perceptive person, and notices small details about her surroundings and her crush - Sumin. She's like a driving force, that will influence Sumin and Seju's dynamic.

Sumin and Seju, in my opinion, have somewhat unhealthy attachment to each other, as their relationship currently relies too much on physical intimacy. It's hard to say how they came to be in such relationship, as we don't know enough of facts/details yet.

And regarding artwork - it's quite nice and simple. Ofc the most beautifully drawn characters are the main trio, as the majority (khe khem, guys) look like a squid haha.

p.s. it has cheating!

Well, I knew about this for years now (while it was still uploading), but for some reason only picked it up now. Better that I did that, because this was mostly smut (not that mad in the beginning, but became tiring), and the story was peculiar at times. But I still enjoyed it as the art was really pretty!!

Anyways, this was spicy and toxic and dramatic. And I ate it up regardless because I'm feral for such plots if they are sapphic.

I like the art style. Everyone look like kpop stars. The story is great, and i love the ending.

But i think the facial expressions need works. Sometimes when the characters cries, they dont look like they are crying at all. They look like they have botox.

This is a beautiful, erotic and complicated story, and it really is Yuri at its finest. The style is beautiful, and the narrative is compelling—our beautiful but aloof protagonist is adorable and charming, but her naivete makes one worry about how the ruthless world of love will treat her. And what better love interest than the older boss with a broken heart and a soul-crushing weariness towards romance and relationships? It's everything you want in a love story, and I especially appreciate a good Yuri story with adult women in the workplace! I genuinely have no complaints; the characters are interesting and well-fleshed out, the sex scenes are hot, and the art is beautiful. I can’t wait to read volume 2!

I do want to protest the hypocritical argument that the sex scenes are excessive and unimportant to the plot because I'm sure none of you would ever say that about your own sex lives! I'm not sure why we are scandalised that a yuri manga that comes wrapped in plastic has intense sex scenes. What exactly did you expect? I would go as far as to say that this complaint is homophobic. Women fuck each other! Get over it.

This was very average and more smut than plot, so why am I intrigued to see what happens in the second volume…?

A toxic love story that was way too sexual for my taste and has a series of red flags from an inappropriate boss/employee romance to the manicpixiedreamgirl idea that didn't create a fully-fleshed story to keep going at all. It's there for the male gaze and that's it.

An unusual review from me, as I normally go for lengthy English novels. Finished this entire published series, including the additional sections and I feel it deserves a proper review.

While most of the story deals with the triangle relationship between Sungji, Sumin and Seju, with most of the focus on Sumin's attempt to develop a genuine relationship with Sungji (and messed up numerous times). To me, this story is about Seju and Sumin, from their first love, first intimacy, to their sacrifices, hurt, regrets and eventually taking chances to leave behind all toxicity and start new.

They're each other's love, only after so many misunderstandings and years of being in this toxic on-off/ friends with benefit/ revenge relationship; as much as they do badly want to hold onto each other, the love they feel for each other is tainted and just doesn't feel the same anymore.

It was so heart wrenching to see Seju, while wanting to badly get back to Sumin, eventually came to the realization that the best way to let the person she loves to never get hurt again, is to simply let Sumin go, telling Sumin that she loves her. In the end, both has chosen to take a chance and be open to love again, and start a new beginning with a new partner, without each other but at the very end of the book, it does bare some clues that they're still kind of in each other's radar, as Sumin's company sent over flowers to Seju's hotel grand opening.

Whether this series is a happy ending or not, is likely subjected to different interpretation and who do you root for. I feel though this is a realistic story that can happen in real life. Letting go and taking other chances requires strength and willpower. I've really enjoyed reading the whole series and to go through the emotional journey between Seju, Sumin and Sungji.

This series is definitely steamy, it's done very artfully and I love the clean drawing style.

For those who has a challenge to secure the original copies or a version in full English, you can consider the official English online version from TappyToon. Highly recommend.

****Edição da Editora NewPop****

"What Does The Fox Say?"

I enjoyed reading this even though I wish the characters were more developed, especially Sungji. The art style is obviously gorgeous but the characters lack expressions most of the time (Sumin never smiles around Sungji and it's been bugging me). If you don't mind love triangles, go for it. I was rooting for Sumin and Sungji at first but I felt like their relationship was shallow. They didn't really show why they were into each other besides the fact that they're physically attracted to each other. Sumin was too damaged to be with her. She should've healed first. Her relationship with Seju is extremely unhealthy but I thought their story was more touching and more realistic. I'm glad they didn't end up together, though.

I also wish Sungji didn't forgive Sumin so easily when she cheated on her. It ruined their relationship for me. I think this webtoon would've been better if it was just all about Sumin and Soju's relationship.
