When vampire heiress Poppy Villalobos entered my store looking for help, my life became intertwined with the Villalobos mafia in a way I could never expect.

With a killer on the loose and a mysterious man haunting my every move, the Villalobos men insert themselves into my life as my protectors. Now a demon, angel, werewolf, fae prince, and vampire mafia boss are glued to my side and it sounds more like a terrible joke than the reality of my life.

These sexy-as-sin men may be the face of a mafia family, but the way they look at me leaves me wondering if they truly can be redeemed.

Family dinners aren't the only awkward situations I now have to navigate, when my life becomes threatened, a secret kept within the women of my family for generations comes to light and I am pulled back into a plot that has spanned lifetimes.

With enemies around every corner, I have to trust these men with my body and my heart.

* Witch Blood is a why-choose romance with a HEA and an FMC who doesn't have to settle for one love interest. It is the first book in a series of standalone stories in The Witchblood Legacy.

My ARC review for this cosy mafia urban fantasy: I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

Cosy was not the vibes I was expecting in a Mafia Romance, but damn was it a fun ride!

Beth weaves ancient myths and fantasy beautifully in this urban fantasy setting. The lore and world building is truly impressive albeit a bit confusing and overwhelming at times - but if you pay attention and are a bit of a history nerd you will appreciate the care in which she crafted this story. There’s a lot of nods to cool historic myths and I really enjoyed the journey of discovering everything alongside Elodie. There was lots of moments where I was like “oh shit that makes sense” 😂 I had a lot of fun learning about this version of Earth.

I’d argue it has more cosy witchy vibes than mafia but I am here for it. That’s not to say it doesn’t have darker elements as you would usually find in a world of vampires, shifters, fae and other dangerous creatures.

But with a full spread of mates in this why choose RH, there is literally something for everyone to enjoy!

Also the spice is 🥵🙈🌶️
I am usually team Vampire (Daemon) but honestly Talon and Raziel kept pulling me to team demon/angel 😂 . The diachotmy was chefs kiss!
Also also!! I love all the unique powers her mates have.

If you are looking for a solid comfort spice reverse harem - Witch Blood is a great start!
Can’t wait for Book 2!!

(ARC Review)

Wow. This was an absolutely beautiful book. Right from the beginning, the story felt warm and cosy. There are darker aspects to the book and I loved that the author still kept the homey loving feeling in the background. The main characters in this novel were so wonderful, especially our FMC, Elodie. Without giving spoilers, her story and the secret we uncover throughout was AHMAZINGGGG! So interesting and gripping… no wonder I read it in one sitting hehe.

Each MMC was was super hot but sweet. I loved that they each faced a struggle through the book and overcame with the help of their mate and their friendships. I lived them all equally too, which is rare because I usually choose favourites 🤭 The spice was very good in this book, especially the mating scenes. I did really really enjoy the fact that there were different types of matings for each of the MMC’s based on their species. That was super interesting to read about.

The plot was mind blowing in this book. So many threads that, at first, seem unrelated but then linked together and had a much bigger impact on the story than it seemed. Can’t wait for book 2 to Lerner more about the world that was introduced in this book.

Rating 5⭐️ Spice 5🌶️
This book was longer than most of the books I have tackled as of late. It was good. I loved the group texts. They had me laughing so hard. I loved that Talon was so mischievous. Mateo is a nuzzler and I loved that. Daemon is a vampire, hello do we need another reason to like him? It was hard to not like all of these men or find something I liked about all of them. It is a good thing it was a why choose. This book was so interesting. At times it had themes that were reminiscent of Supernatural (the show) and then so many aspects of it were just totally new and unlike anything I have watched on tv or read. It is very original. You do have a fated mates thing going on, it has been done before…but I still loved it. This story kept me intrigued and I can’t wait to visit the world again. The magic was interesting. The world was immersive. The characters were strong and fun to get to know. The spice was spicy and chapter 85 was 🔥. Lots of fantasy elements with magic and vampires, werewolves, demons, angels, ghosts/spirits, fae, witches, and humans of course. The world is not so fantasy based that it is wholly different from our own, but it isn’t the same either. Despite the book being long and having a lot of characters I was able to keep up. It was funny, intriguing, spicy, romantic, and a wild adventure. You have some lies and betrayal and hero’s trying to save the world. Elodie the main female character has 6 men who are total simps for her. They will do anything to make her happy and keep her safe. Get ready for a fun and steamy adventure with Elodie and her harem of men. 🖤💚

A magical debut full of sugar, spice and danger, so nice

Witch Blood is a "Why Choose" romance featuring a strong, loving female character fated to 5+ men of several paranormal flavours. It follows Elodie, owner of a quaint shop in her cozy small town, who's life is about to be overturned by love, lust and destiny.

Written in the perspectives of all major characters, Witch Blood offered me a fun and spicy escape into an alternate world where the paranormal walk among us. While definitely not for the underage or faint of heart, the book also radiates a love for family (found or otherwise) and self-realisation in many forms. The harem acts like adults and treats each other with respect, elements I absolutely appreciate. The spice is also great. Loving, affirming and none-too-gentle.

Evans deserves praise for the way she has her main characters meet and fall head over heels for each other - instant/fast romance can easily feel rushed, forced or otherwise strange, but Evans manages to make Elodie's connections to her new lovers feel natural, instinctive and like the force of nature they are supposed to feel like.

The book is long, rightfully taking it's time to develop relationships and plot. The plot develops at a good pace, revealing mysteries and excitement all through-out. At some points this slows it down a bit too much for my taste, giving stakes that seemingly had time-pressure comfortable breaks and training montages. Since it serves the relationships of the characters and I was kept in the loop with sprinkles of plot and hints even in "down-time", I can absolutely forgive this, though.

Evans has an original, refreshing voice that breathes life into believable, flawed characters with so much to love about them. The world-building (modern alternate universe setting) is also a nice feature, the interwovenness of time, magic and destiny offering many interesting possibilities. With Witch Blood, she successfully sets up a series that I'll be sure to keep up with as the plot thickens!

Okay so first of all WOW. Witch Blood was so much FUN to read and honestly had so much more going on than I was expecting!

Elodie was absolutely a strong ass FMC and knew what she wanted, while also being a little shy and still realistically working through prior relationship trauma! I loved how relatable she was. 💛

These MEN, ugh I love these men and I honestly was so happy to see this insta love between them and Elodie. There's just something about Fated Mates for me. I love it.

Daemon was your typical mafia man and yet had such a sweet side to him that he spared only for Elodie.

Mateo was pure alpha wolf and made me smile so many times! There's just something about a cuddly man. From the jump he was obsessed and always made his love known.

Talon. Sweet demon daddy Talon. Gotta say I think he was my fave! He was so protective and chaotic and brought the heat out in Elodie. He knew exactly how to challenge her and I love that!

Raziel. Is. Babygirl. He really experienced so much with Talon and the way that he connected with Elodie brought tears to my eyes. I could tell they share a special bond and that really came through in the story too.

Rowan was kind of a wildcard for me. I expected to immediately love him and yet I found myself having to grow to love him. He just had to get out of his own head and let go of his fears to realize his and Elodie's potential and he frustrated me at times until he figured it out. Nonetheless I loved him and loved watching his journey!

And William, oh William. What a gentleman! His story took me by surprise and honestly I really enjoyed the part he played in Elodie's past and present.

OMG I cannot WAIT for the next book Witch Soul! I will be sitting here as patiently as possible to see how the next story pans out. 👀 I'm stoked to see a certain lady's story! 😍

And lastly, I am so grateful to receive this advanced reader copy and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Beth Evans for writing an incredible story!

This was such a great book and I absolutely loved all of the characters. It had all of my favorites and the banter and the chemistry that was going on between the FMC and all of the MMCs was amazing. Would highly recommend if you enjoy either paranormal, romantasy, mafia or why choose romance tropes because this has all of that and more! Thank you to Beth Evans for the ARC of this story.

The author knew what she was doing with this one. The story has a smooth flow which makes you want to keep reading. The characters are very likeable, multi-layered + diverse and you will get to know each one as you read. The writing is easy-to-read and there are funny moments which I absolutely love! (The group chat + Elodie’s grannies!)

Honestly, I would have loved to see more from Elodie and it did feel a little fast-paced near the end. However, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘰 👀
And yes, there is a lot of spice in this book! These men sure know how to ✨take care✨ of their woman.

Thank you Author Beth Evans for my eARC! This was fantastic and I’m looking forward to read the second book of The Witchblood Legacy.

This story was amazingly told. The world building and character development keep the story going, along with the multiple POVs. The relationships built between the fmc and mmcs felt natural and organic , and the spice was also top notch. If you like paranormal and mafia I would check this one out, there’s a little bit of something for everyone in this book.

During what should have been a normal day tending to her shop, Elodie's life is thrown into chaos when a bleeding vampire mafia heiress stumbles in. When Daemon Villalobos, head of the Villalobos mafia shows up to collect his niece with his crew in tow, none of them realize that their chance meeting would kick start the end of everything they knew. As Elodie discovers the truth of her family's lineage, her strange draw to all the men challenges everything she knows about herself and love. Her newly found powers as a witch grow, as does her love for a vampire, wolf shifter, fae prince, demon from hell, fallen angel and an astral ghost.

I mean, all you have to do to get me to read a book is throw a few key words in my face, like "paranormal romance", "why choose" and "urban fantasy mafia". It also doesn't hurt that Witch Blood is well written and the characters are all super developed. Every single character has a great arc that they go through and trials they have to work through together in order for their unit of 6 to work. I did find the witchy lore aspects of the story to be a bit difficult to follow and I wish those had been explained a little bit more, and maybe sooner in the story. Despite being a mafia romance with pretty high stakes, this book is somehow super cozy and has great autumn TBR vibes!

Spectacular, give me 12 of them (or 6) 🤗

THIS WAS SO WHOLESOME AND MUSHY IN THE BEST WAY. Perfect balance of morally grey and cutesy.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much of this book since it just popped up as a rec on threads and I went in blind.

But ??? Wow this really took me out of a slump. The story has SOOOO many layers? How they (and everything else) are all connected? 10. World building? 10. Plot? 10. The pet names? My heart melted, absolute 10!!! Everyone’s unique abilities? 10. How each of them had a special way to seal the mating bond? You guessed it, 10.

Also also, the FMC, FOR ONCE, not being so small and tiny was really great, even on the art, we love normalising normal bodies, not every FMC has to be smol. The insecurities? Real. I felt represented in this book, and I think it’s the first time that I felt that way in a spicy book honestly.

This story was juicy as heck, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the 2nd book.

The only critiqued that I would give, and this is personal preference, but just more in-depth stories of each character’s past, like the essence of what makes them the way they are, I feel like it really cements their personalities a bit more, each being distinct. I know there are reasons, that they get into, but I guess I just like a bit more detail, also on the way they think, tbh most of their thoughts were about her, and that’s valid i guess lol. I also struggled at the beginning to keep track of who is who and what their powers are? But what can you expect? There’s 5 of them.

Anywhooo, this will definitely be added to my favourites and my heart will continue to explode as I imagine that they are actually real, and Mrs. Warrior Queen is saving the wold whilst her mates protect her fiercely.

Witchblood was such an amazing start to this series of standalones! I love that it is set up to follow separate witches as they come into their power with the end goal of them all coming together to form a coven. I am hoping that we will see familiar characters pop up throughout the series and help the other witches out as they are trying to navigate this new world with their powers awakening.

There was so much humor in this book. It literally had me cackling at times. The banter, the pranks, the jokes between Elodie and the guys. It was all great and helped keep the book balanced with all the action that was going on. I think the story was pretty well paced, but I sorta wish there was more to it. It was amazing as is, but I think it could have been spread out between another book so we could get some more backstory to the characters and more relationship development. Standalones sometimes miss some of this because everything has to be crammed into one book and this book had quite the collection of mmcs to cover in one book. Nevertheless, l loved everything that we did learn about each guy and enjoyed how different each one was with their character and backstory.

The ending, although fast to come to a conclusion, set the scene for the next book up so well. I cannot wait to see how Raven does for her own journey. She seems like a sweet girl but so lonely. I think finding her knights will help so much with that and I hope Elodie will also be there for her for moral, mental, and emotional support.

I had to stop reading this book before the end. It was annoying me.
There was a lot wrong tbh. But more just little things that added up.

I think the insta connection was way off. I have read tons of fated mates/insta love stories but the way this was expressed here didn’t work for me. I wasn’t buying it.
These guys were too SIMP for this woman. It was gross.

The actual flow of the story wasn’t horrible but it also wasn’t good. The writing and dialogue felt forced too.

The world building felt like things I have already read before.
All of this story did.
It feels regurgitated and old. Not fresh. We have all read these stories over and over. I guess I have reached my max now.

I am also so so tired of body types being discussed THE entire way thru a series. Curvy girl. Thick thighs. Belch.

I am over it. I think I have also reached my limit of “curvy girl” fmcs. 🥴🤣 Just call her fat. Overweight. Bigger. Heavy.

That curvy body type is not the only one out there but for whatever reason authors think writing about larger women is an interesting and fresh take on a character. Call her “curvy” and we won’t offend people. Girl. If you aren’t describing her rotund belly cascading over her jeans, we got nothing to say to each other. ✌🏼

Nope, curvy girl has been WAY overdone.
Give me a fat dude. Then we are talking FRESH. 👏🏼🤌🏼

In the end, the story didn’t suck me in. It didn’t keep me interested. I don’t like the personality of the fmc nor the mmcs.

This was a surprisingly cute read, despite some of the darker themes. This is Beth’s debut fantasy novel, and I’m excited to see how her writing and story telling grows in the future.

Elodie is an intriguing character. She’s definitely stuck in a human mindset for a decent chunk of the book, which is frustrating, but I also get it. I definitely enjoyed when she began embracing her new life.

The men are all adorable. They definitely fall first and become extremely protective and possessive. I personally love those vibes.

The concept behind this storyline is fascinating! I very much look forward to reading the other books as they come out. I’ve got a few theories around some characters mentioned in this book, and I want to know if I’m right!

I do hope that she is able to get an editor for future releases. There were a few details that got mixed up that I think an editor would have caught. The writing is a little choppy and fast-paced, but it’s not hard to follow, in my opinion. I do feel like Elodie’s newfound powers were neglected until the last quarter of the book. I get that she had no one to teach her, but she could have at least tried to do something.

Overall, I give it 3.5/5 stars and 3/5 spice.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 but rounding up!
🌶️🌶️

Had the pleasure of getting an advance copy of Witch Blood and it was a super fun read! There are a lot of magical elements incorporated into the story (witches, vampires, shifters, angels, demons and ghosts) but overall gives a cozy urban fantasy vibe. But there are some dark elements as weIl. I am a big fan of paranormal romance and when I also saw it was a why choose I was sold!

I feel like I had a little confusion following the plot at certain points because there are so many magical elements involved and I feel like the lore and magic system could have been explained a little more.

I enjoyed the banter between characters and but wish the relationships developed more over time- I felt like it was a little quick! I loved all the men but, I think Raziel and Talon are my favorite though 🙈 I really liked the fact that each MMC has a different mating ritual to accept the bond.

Overall I thought this was a fun and easy read! I will definitely be reading book two!

The writing was so below average, it was as if the author hadn't read a book since they were in high school. The dialogue descriptors were unimaginative and bland.

Some examples of misplaced commas, semi-colons, and weird word choices:
I had no interest in women, they brought nothing, but trouble, and the...

It is a quiet town; Mr. Villalobos and my neighbors are helpful.

This wasn’t good and somehow; Elodie had now become fair game in this game of chess.

Plus, the author had a serious issue with describing how the flow of time works. In one of the chapters, the FMC got off work, took a bath, saw something bad in her backward and like two pages later it's 6:30 in the morning? Did she like sleep or anything? And if she didn't sleep, why wasn't she complaining about how tired she was?

I do hope that the author takes a creative writing class or hires a top tier editor so they can help them flesh out ideas better. The premise was good, but the writing was mediocre.

I think the fmc of this book might be in my top 3 fantasy female main characters. I loved the guys too especially Mateo (the wolf) and Raziel (The angel). This was kind of a slow burn. They admitted their feelings early on, but the mate bond stuff took a little while because of the struggles they had to overcome. I really liked the found family vibe this book had and the relationship between the fmc and the mmc's. I don't read rh too often, but when I do, I prefer them to not have spice in every chapter, and this book had the perfect balance of plot, spice, fluff, and banter. I absolutely loved the text banter between the guys. Despite the fact that this was around 600 pages, it did not feel slow at any point. I loved the magic system and the unique things about each type of creature. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series when it comes out, and I'm hoping to order the paperback of this book soon.

This series opener is incredible!

In this why choose paranormal romance, Beth Evans does an amazing job of creating a tight knit and unique cast of characters that all have distinct voice, complex motivation, and delightful interaction.

Though not one of my preferred tropes, this why choose is spectacular. Her world building, premise for the paranormal existence in this modern world, and the mate/magic system in place all give probability and believability to the why choose scenario that directly integrates into the overall plot of the novel.

Elodie and her mates are steamy, full of banter, and positively adorable in their interactions. The dynamic between not only Elodie and her men, but between the males themselves is full bodied and real.

The plot itself is dynamic. The pace is perfect. If this is pur launch point into a whole world grounded by this point I can not wait to see what else is in store.

Witch Blood by Beth Evans is a solid read. It has all the right elements - a relatable heroine, a plethora of smexy men, an epic love story that spans the ages, hysterical side characters, and a touch of action. And that's before you add in the smut, which was excellent, in case you're interested. The only issue that I had, which is the only reason I've given the book 4 stars instead of 5, is that I feel the story is too compact. There is so much that the author needs to convey, but it felt a bit like I was only getting the bare bones. Only the necessities. I would have loved this to be expanded into a duet so the intricacies of each relationship could be explored and the action could be more drawn out. BUT even though I thought the end was really rushed, I still laughed and cried throughout the story, and I would still recommend it to most people.

What a journey! Beth Evans, skilfully, led her reader down the path of normal to paranormal in a way which felt totally natural. Elodie was a wonderful character, who grew to accept her role in this life. Even when dangerous situations have been dealt with, her life is never going to be boring, being mated to a group of paranormal beings who, I quickly, liked. The plot quickened as I was pulled more into the lives of the key characters and Beth Evans’ story telling picked me up and took me along with every new development. Be it spice or paranormal elements, I was gripped. The only negative is that this book had to end! I’m happy that there will be more, in the future, and will be able to reacquaint myself with a host of amazing characters.

I thank the author, Beth Evan’s, for entrusting me to ARC read her book! I haven’t read anything like this before and I am impressed by the plot! Elodie was a solid main character who I grew to love the more I read about her. I am relieved it is not a slow-burn since those aren’t my style, and felt so intrigued by the overall uniqueness of all the characters.

William, Daemon, Raziel, Mateo, Talon, and Rowan were great to read. Each had their own personalities and didn’t feel too much in any way.

“She belonged to us. She belonged to me.” Had me MELTING! Seeing everyone’s reactions to Elodie had me cheesing. I loved it! This was a lovely read and cannot wait for book 2!

This book was recieved as an ARC. Here is my honest review~

Witch Blood is a character-driven, why choose, spicy fantasy romance. I found the spice was generously spread throughtout but not over the top and leaving room for the main story. The book features a shop-owner whom unbeknownst to her has a powerful lineage that becomes discovered through her bonds as she recognises her own power and her confidence on herself.

I did find the book quite dialogue heavy, however it helped with character development and understanding each of their personalities. The spicy scenes are open door and done well. I'm looking forward to Witch Soul!

I received this ARC and immediately fell in love. From page one I was completely thrown into a fantasy story unlike any others I have ever read. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this book was so much more than I could’ve ever imagined. It took me a minute to get used to the whole mates with multiple men thing because that is so not what I’m used to when I read a fantasy book. It was a very nice twist though and I honesty was surprised at how the characters took the news and just went with it. A true bromance if I’ve ever seen one 😂 Spice is HEAVY which I didn’t mind one bit.
And the END?! Left me on a cliffhanger and I need the next book in my hands immediately.

I loved that this was a standalone fantasy why-choose story. There will be more books in the series but our main characters get their HEA. This story is less mafia and more murder mystery action movie, in my opinion. I enjoyed the multiple POVs and loved that we did not need to choose a favorite paranormal race, we get to see basically them all in this story. I was intrigued from the very beginning, I binge read this in a day. I did feel like a lot happened in this one story so quickly that some things were glossed over or rushed when they could have been drawn out. Overall, it was a great story with a cool premise and some hot spicy men. Worth the read for me!

I originally wrote a very long and detailed review that sadly I didn’t properly post but due to being very triggered and uncomfortable I’ll have to come back and write it. Long story short (for now) I DNF due to explicit R4pe and so much SA and violence to women that it just felt unnecessary and weird. Not to mention the bad Wattpad writing. Truly I tried to get through the bad writing but I genuinely can’t with the horrid shit in it. To those who want a semi spoiler for their safety: if you can’t handle r4pe, skip the chapter that she’s in the vampire den. I won’t give more spoilers than that.

This book is a delight, lemmetellyou. I had such a great time delving into this modern fantasy world. Witch Blood is a fascinating story of a witch coming into her powers (again) with 5 (…or 6? 😉) whirlwind romances that honestly left me breathless. Elodie is such a strong person; she just takes everything and rolls right along with it. Vampire Mafia heiress busts into my shop needing help? No prob, lemme grab my first aid kit. A vampire, a werewolf, a Fae prince, a demon and an angel attached to me 24/7? You guys like cookies? The action-y bits are resolved just a liiiittle bit too quick for me, but the kissy (and more) scenes are just great.

Witch Blood was such a good read and kept me wanting more, I literally couldn’t put it down. I was gripped by the story of old magic and magical beings, I also loved how Elodie was written. She is confident and shy, while coming from to her own as a powerful witch. Her six leading men are a perfect mix of grumpy, brooding alphas all doing their best to protect her while forming their own bonds. I also loved the glimpses of Elodie’s family especially Granny Smith.
I cannot wait to see what happens in the second book.

Spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I liked the story. It started off with a bang. I was interested to see where the story was going to take me. After something happens our Fmc Elodie is now being protected by a
demon, vampire mafia boss, fae prince and angel. I liked the premise of the story. It's full of secrets and twists you're not expecting a lot of things to come to light. I loved getting everyone’s pov throughout the story. At times it did feel a little to insta love for me. It did have a cozy vibe to the story, perfect read for the fall.

I received an ARC of this so this is my honest review.

This book reminds me of a reality show like Love Island, except there's only one girl. I know it felt kind of trashy, but I couldn't help but keep reading. I loved all of the boys and enjoyed learning more about them as the book went on. There was definitely lots of spice and a reverse harem trope, which I actually enjoyed reading.

Overall, it is a decent read and a good choice if anyone is looking for a longer smutty book with cozy witch vibes and lots of fantasy men.

My only complaint is I wish this was a duology to really delve into the found family relationship and mafia side of the story.

I think Elodie’s story was well told, and I loved her relationship with her family. It gave me the same vibes as the Broken Bonds series as well as the Duel with a vampire lord.

I also liked the witchy part of this and felt like it was a super unique magic system.

Also the spice was 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Overall, it was a solid story that I’m glad I read! I’ll likely be reading more of the series as they come out!
