Clad in hurt and pain, twenty-four year old Allure has completely bolted her heart and shut off her emotions, except for a select few—to hell with everyone else. With her brash personality and rude attitude, she is constantly operating in survivor-mode while working as a massage therapist at a lavish spa. When her favorite customer offers her an intriguing and tempting opportunity, Allure grabs the chance to increase her bank account. When a run-in with another customer piques her interest, will it be enough to thaw out her cold heart and icy demeanor? Or will Allure prevent anyone from interfering with her lust and love of money?
Twenty-three year old Devyn is the proud mother of two-year-old Ethan. She works as a bartender to take care of them, including her deadbeat, wanna-be rapper baby daddy, Tremaine. After meeting Allure while bartending, an altercation ensues, resulting in her being fired, prompting Allure to extend a job proposal. Accepting the coveted position, Devyn soon discovers how quickly things can flip when a work engagement turns into a nightmarish incident and ends in a grim and bloody night. When Devyn becomes mesmerized by Allure’s cousin, Shiloh, he provides her with peace and love like she’s never known. But will she let her craving and yearning for money destroy everything that she’s earned?
The saying goes, “Money is the root of all evil.” However, Allure and Devyn learn just how false that statement is—greed, desire, and the lure of money are. Sex certainly sells. But the fantasy and illusion of sex with a beautiful woman is just as dangerous. And both Allure and Devyn don’t fully understand the consequences of playing in the devil’s lair until it’s too late. Set in the streets of New York, best-selling authors Shari B. and Aleisha Dawn bring you a vocative, salacious, and sensual African American urban hood collab that is capped by the enticement of money, sex, love, temptation, blackmail, and murder.
I really thought this was going to be a 5 star read as I was loving this book. I loved Shiloh and Devyn together. Shiloh was great with Ethan. I loved the friendship that Allure and Devyn had. Allure and Phoenix had something special. Where it went down hill for me was when Allure and Devyn did not communicate when it mattered. They had men that would do anything to protect them but they didn’t open their mouths. The overall ending was “good” but there was a cost.
This story started off so interesting and just got better from there. Allure drove me crazy most of the time but I loved how she grew and opened up more. Having Phoenix and Devyn in her life made her better. Devyn was doing all she could could to take care of her son without the help of her baby daddy (who was so garbage). Both girls ended up getting sucked up in the fast life and money, quickly becoming addicted as well as obsessed. I’m glad the men in their life knew when they needed to call it quits and redirect them towards something better. My heart hurt for Titan but loved how he cherished his friendship with Devyn. The ending was all I hoped for which was growth and true love. Great job ladies 💜
Allure and Devyn meeting was by accident but we can say destiny brought them together. Needing money after getting fired Allure had just the job for Devyn, however going on the assignment caused her to catch 2 dead bodies. This book starts out with Devyns dead beat baby daddy not holding his weight and being a cheater. But after getting upset because he had to be a dad for once he beat Devyn up. Well this action caused my handsome boo Shi to get involved and the invitation to be Devyn man. Meanwhile Allure living the life has met her a man that she can finally be vulnerable with Mr. Phoenix with his fine ass. This grows into a lovely relationship although she has some childhood trauma that absolutely warrants her mom a beating down. Not wanting to upset her PaPa she holds it in until she couldn’t anymore. This book is a great read and please go read it
Shari and Aleisha, good collaboration. Thanks for showing how you can get caught up doing something to survive. Sometimes we don't get the opportunity to have a life full of love, trust, loyalty and understanding. Allure and Devyn had to learn what were they willing to sacrifice in the name of money. It was good seeing lessons learned, seeing truths being told, seeing forgiveness and healing taking place. I loved the goodness of Phoenix and Shiloh.two good guys that were standup men. The men taught the girls what was important in life. Just such a good read. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Everything could've went bad all for some money never worth you dignity...
I'm so glad Deyvn finally were able to get Away from Tremaine was just lazy joke rap career that was not going no where fast ... Shiloh came in her Ethan life and changed it gave her Love and father figure for her son real man...
Allure wow I understand why she's the way she was Her mom was sick individuals...But enough about her... I really like Phoenix he came and played no games he was truly different he was not rushing sleeping with her But Allure was throwing it he man man Sexual chemistry between both couples were great!!!
It’s crazy how Allure and Devyn’s lives were intertwined and turned upside down but with love from Phoenix and Shiloh they eventually found stability. I looked at Devyn sideways for how she was taking care of Tremaine when he wasn’t even trying to be a father to Ethan. I loved how Shiloh stepped into a father figure role towards Ethan and how he loved on Devyn. Life hardened Allure to the point that Phoenix had to knock down a lot of walls before Allure could walk into her soft girl era. I enjoyed reading this book but I did want to know did Papa Reggie address the pastors, elders, and deacons for taking advantage of Amelia.

3.75⭐️🌶️🌶️ I really enjoyed this book, even though there were a lot of triggering topics. I was engaged with the book. This book exemplified that money is the root of all evil. I liked all of the main characters. I love that Shiloh stepped up and instantly became a father figure to Ethan. Devyn just had horrible things happen to her because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Phoenix was really a good match for Allure, and I feel like if they hadn’t had so much miscommunication, it would’ve been smooth sailing. Found family ✅ Second act, Romance✅ Miscommunication✅ Explicit content✅ Child abuse✅ Domestic violence✅ Touch her and die✅ Instant love✅
This collab is fire. It's provocative and gives thriller-esq vibes with the way the ending went. Allure and Devyn step into a world that they thought was easy and was ready for. However, they discover how grimy and gritty it can be. The love of money can be costly, and the duo learns the high price consequences of greed and desire. I enjoyed reading this story and highly recommend. It gives a glimpse into a world that seems glamorous but is definitely a long way from.
It's Phoenix for me 😍😍😍😍. I love how he waited until he knew what made Allure Allure before he blessed her with the 🍆. Allure went through a lot at the hands of her own mother so I understand why she put the paws on her. Devyn was a sweetheart but don't push her cause baby girl ain't no 😸. Her best friend was wrong for bringing those people to her house only for them to get the business. I like Shiloh and I love how he stepped up for lil Ethan. Martell got exactly what he deserved and so did Tom.💖💖
Yessss! Shari and Aleisha you never fell me. This book was so good that I only put my phone down for food, snacks, something to drink, or bathroom break. I love how Allure and Devyn found love but I hate how they the money go to their heads that they almost lost Phoenix and Shi. I love how Shi took to Ethan and I like how Ethan changed Allure mind about kids too. It was a great read like always and I cant wait to see what's next.
All I can say is wheeeeeewwww !!!! Baby when I tell you this book was good as hell I mean this book was good ! I loved how it had real life situations in it . When I tell you I laughed and cried with the characters I literally felt like I was in the book and dealing with life with them ! If you haven’t read this book yet you need to it will definitely not let you down !
This was good but I think characters should have been introduced. Like Phoenix wasn’t introduced. It’s like she saw him and then they were dating a few chapters later. All I kept thinking is who tf is he though. Kayleigh was first mentioned in chapter 14 so I thought I missed her being mentioned earlier in the book. It wasn’t well thought out because it just seemed like the book was just thrown together.
This was fantastic, Ms.B and Ms. Dawn did their thing. Loved that Delvyn and Allure got their HEA with Phoenix and Shiloh. This story touches on child abuse, domestic violence, attempted rape, attempted murder, kidnapping and murder. Sex scenes were 🔥🔥🌶🌶. Kudos to both authors👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I loved Allure and Devyn’s relationship. It was rocky in the beginning but they definitely rode for each other like best friends should. Shi and Phoenix were true alpha’s and they genuinely loved Devyn and Allure. Sad what Allure endured in her childhood. Glad she was able to find someone to genuinely love her through it all. Good standalone.
Martell knew what he was doing, when he told Allure about the Dollhouse. Devyn did what she had to do for her and her son's safety. Shi and Phoenix didn't play about them two. I was so upset with what happened to Titan. Karma got those that needed it. Great read
This was a great read, I love everything about this book. I loved the friendship between Dev and Allure. It was sad what happened to Titan Martell got exactly what he deserved. Great read
Both Devyn and Allure have been through so much. I am glad they were able to find each other and not only become friends but family. This book goes through some twist and turns, some predictable and some unpredictable. I highly recommend this book.
