In Too Deep #1

The Billionaire Affair

Rate this book
I’m thinking it’s finally got to be my turn.

I've got no man and no money. Nothing but a personality and a smile.

But maybe that's enough this time.

The richest guy in New York is looking for a secretary, and lucky for me, he’s young and as hot as sin.

Too bad he’s an alpha jerk rich boy who’s stuck on himself. Nothing I do is right.

Throw in a crazy ex and a father that can’t stand anything that breathes in his personal space, and I. Am. Out.

He can find someone else to take notes and get his coffee.

I’m fine being broke and single. I’ve gotten good at it.

Besides, I’m not interested in a billionaire affair.

Or am I already in too deep to leave?

Sure feels that way.

Not a rom com as the title suggests

I really wanted to love this one because of all the great reviews it had, but I was expecting a funny rom com, but it wasn't that at all. It was very much an OTT drama and no comedy whatsoever. Even if it weren't categorized as a rom com it would still fall short in my opinion. The length of the book was too long and so many parts were boring including the sex scenes between the characters. I ended up skipping through many of the pages. I also felt let down that there was no resolution with his dad at the end.

This book was angsty, stuffed with unnecessary scenes, and had the obligatory best friend who gives terrible advice. If you KNOW you are going to have sex with your boss and probably get fired, the best thing to do is never step foot in that building again. Save yourself the humiliation and just say no.

Why don't heroines in contemporary romances tell their best friends to shut the hell up (lovingly)? Why do they always listen to the friends that say, do him, sex fixes everything?!

I was so bored with this book that I skimmed the last 1/3rd of it. The ending was anticlimactic. The hero seemed like a teenaged boy just learning how to put on his big boy pants. The heroine should have stuck with her bookstore job.

So many parts of this book were ridiculous and dragged on and on and on. I listened to the audiobook. The female narrator was awful. Seems the word secretary is an issue for her. I just couldn't get past it. I do not recommend this series. Just and awful series all around.

Big disappoint

I saw the rating on this book and thought it was going to be great. Well let’s say I stopped reading about less then half through to skip to end. At first I thought it was me who thought this book was WAY too drawn out and boring. Sadly I think the characters were great but F me on being way too much in their heads and repeating actions or thoughts over and over. I’m sad because this story had a lot of great potential but I couldn’t keep reading this bragging on story.

Jeremiah is the son of a repulsive billionaire and he meets Stephanie, Steph, at a nightclub that her friend 'forces' her to attend. He's with his 'tribe' of friends [since school days]. She's not his usual type but there is something about her that is like a magnet drawing him to her. Just when he thinks he's going to get lucky she disappears much to his dismay and he watches her leaving in a taxi. But next day they meet again - with his vile father there who insults her repeatedly [well he does that throughout the book] when she goes for an interview for a job as Jeremiah's secretary. His friend, Nick, is great and Steph would be happy to work for him but she is not impressed with Jeremiah at all. His last secretary, Jannie, is a deeply disturbed and his father sacked her [the only good thing he did in the story]. Despite his father he gives her the job [although she is more than qualified] and they have sparks sizzling between them the whole time. Things develop quickly and soon the embers in the fire are ignited and a few people are mad about it. This book is, in my opinion, Ali Parker's best yet. I love her books normally but this went one step beyond. I loved his new 'toy' car but it made me gasp with what happened to it. I loved how his friends rallied round Steph and the scene were Jeremiah goes to see his father after being warned by Nick, should go down as one of the funniest scenes in the book - priceless! I had such a good laugh re-reading it as it was so good. I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. To say that I just recommend this book is the understatement of the year. It is terrific with fabulous writing, a storyline that had me on the edge of my seat and so much chemistry between the two of them that you need a fa/ac to keep you cool. I would love to read Nick and the other's HEA's in the future as they are just too good not to do more with them.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED

Finally made it

I’m not quite sure how this book had 4.5 stars. I have a huge problem NOT finishing a book I’ve started, but there were multiple times I just wanted to be done with it. The story drug on and on. It could have been a shorter book and more enjoyable to read. I’m not even sure how much of it I skipped, but it was a LOT.

Nothing Rom com about this book. Very long and boring. Nothing funny and it took forever for there to be any sexy time between them. Dnf

Not my favorite

Characters weren’t very interesting and the plot was pretty thin. Would have liked to had more character development with more interesting lives.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book . However, it kind of leaves the reader hanging .the story alludes to a happy ending , with marriage on the cards .

However,so many unresolved plans & issues .The company Jeremiah,
& Stephanie are building with their friends...... What kind of business is it that can accommodate & use the skill set of a professional ,athlete ,a model, a chef etcetera. The story line alludes to Jeremiah's successful business ventures before he mercifully picked up the reigns in Jances Empire .....trying to fit into his brothers "inviolable shoes .....a recipe for failure in his father's eyes only " What about Jeremiah relationship with his father ....unresolved issues??
What ever happened to Phsychotic Jannice ??.....What about her trial ??Has she been sentenced ?What is Jannices family past relationship background ? What caused her to be so emotionally needy ...was she a neglected a,abused child & or adult ? Where is Janice serving time? Is she incarcerated with criminally insane? Is there not potential for her escape & further torment of Stephanie ,& Jerimiah.
Will Jance ,Jeremiah, and Stephanie finally make peace before their wedding .
Like I said earlier I really enjoyed the story but only give it a four star review because each book stops abruptly without resolutions !! Leaving reader hanging!!!.
It screams money grabbing!!! A form of torture. Addicted reades are forced to finish series if they want any resolution satisfaction with story .Some readers may find it a financial hardship to keep laying out money to by next book in chopped up saga

I definitely recommend reading this one. The characters are great even the bad ones, they make you feel as though your reading a story based on real life. Jeremiah and Stephanie have great chemistry not just sexually but intellectually as well. You know how some novels focus on just the sexual tension, well this definitely has that but it is also filled with witty banter and real life conversations that make you really believe they are perfect for each other and not just based on physical attraction. Stephanie's character itself was also great, she wasnt meek or a push over. Yes she was a little insecure of her body like most people are but she didn't let that stop her from being who she was and fighting back when she didn't agree with something, she always held her own. Which I love and appreciate when writers do that.

The only complaint I had was that because there was so much sexual tension at first, I thought when they finally slept together it would be one steamy scene. Instead it was basically left to ur own imagination and all sex scenes were basically summarized. However, if u don't really care all that much about explicit and detailed sex scenes then you won't mind at all. I'm ok with either but I just didn't like that it was misleading from the beginning and was very anti-climactic.

In conclusion the story was sweet and cute but also sprinkled with just enough drama.

Had potential but fell flat.

I’m giving this two stars only because I liked the basis of the story and the characters. For me the story was long and drawn out. Slow. I didn’t like how much time was spent in each characters head. There was a few times where things were repeated. Something that happened early on in the book was then described again in great detail as if we didn’t read it. For example: the interaction between two of the friends and how they met was a great scene in the beginning but then never addressed again, in fact it almost seemed like the writer forgot the characters even knew each other until the end. Then she explained it as if we didn’t read the scene in the beginning. Frustrating. I would have liked to see what happened with those two woven into the story more. Not a rom com. Had potential to be. The friends seemed funny but the writer struggled with them it seemed. I had to reread quite a bit when there were multiple people in a scene. I just wish it flowed better. I read to the end but it was hard and took me longer than it normally would. I had to fight the urge multiple times to put it down. I liked the characters and the basis of the story but was disappointed it fell flat.

**AUDIOBOOK**

While I did enjoy this book, I felt that it was a bit long. Jeremiah was a billionaire working for his dad's business. His dad was an absolute jerk! Like seriously! Just a horrible person that never shows any good side to himself in this book. He has absolutely no faith in Jeremiah and what he does or any choices in his life. For that matter, he is just mean to everybody and I wanted someone to punch him in his face. Any negative action of Jeremiah seemed to be related to something with his father and trying to make his father happy.
I loved Stephanie. While she was clearly not confident with her body image, that didn't hold her back in all things. She had the confidence and backbone to stand up for herself and take no crap from anyone. And she didn't focus on changing her body image, she knew who she was and owned up to it.
This book had its bit of suspense not knowing when the crazy chick ex secretary was gonna pop up, so that added a nice little twist. Had it's steamy parts but not overly steamy.

Worth a read or listen but not something I would say "listen to this now!"

Engaging. Some novels take a few pages, a few chapters, even half-way through before the story really "grabs" you. Not in this case. This reader was taken with this story from the get-go and got totally immersed in the happenings of the tale. Excellent characterizations from the two main male and female characters through to the entire ensemble cast. The main male character seemed to have the most growth and the most turmoil. The main female character gained in confidence and belief in herself. Both of these characters had fantastic, supportive and caring friends. Throughout the story the dialogue between characters was excellent. Wonderful repartee! Loved it! Highly entertaining characters. There were lots of elements to this story to elicit the reader's attention.

Well done! Highly recommended read! (I really kind-of liked this novel in case you did not notice.... he he he!)

I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.

This book left a lot to be desired. As others have said, it was much longer than it needed to be, and the descriptiveness needed to be dialed up quite a bit. It felt very idealistic as well. It struck me as an overly romanticized daydream where, against all odds, the hot guy chooses you and all your perceived flaws with open arms, and then he buys you things and loves you more every time you do something ordinary. Even the thoughts he had about her seemed like something a woman with a crush hopes the man she likes is thinking. I just didn't find the story realistic at all.

I was also really bothered by the pervasive body put downs throughout the story. I'm all for women loving the body they're in, but I don't appreciate that both main characters consistently put down women who have different body types from Stephanie's. There doesn't need to be some us vs them mentality to get across the fact that both main characters prefer a curvier body, despite what the people around them and society think.

Wow! There is so much going on in this story: romance, intrigue, angst, and drama. This book has it all. I loved watching Jeremiah and Stephanie navigate the turbulent waters surrounding them to find their forever. I’m a little torn about our heroine, however. I adored Stephanie, don’t get me wrong. I love the fact that she’s a full figure leading lady. What I have issues with are the ways that her figure type is referred to in some places in the book. I know most of the worst of them are for dramatic effect, but they left me feeling unnerved. That pulled me away from being able to fully immerse myself in the story and love the book without reservation. Jeremiah, I loved completely. I especially liked seeing the ways he shows Stephanie how much she means to him. It was so much fun to watch the interactions with the people who supported Stephanie and Jeremiah. I hope we get to see stories about all the best friends in the future.

Jeremiah doesn't want to be the heir to his father he doesn't want the responsibility of the company but with the death of his older brother it is now all up to him and his father is relying on him to step up .

Stephanie has a chance at a higher position in her company but when her interview with Jeremiah goes off the rails she has to face that it may not happen after all this is the man she met a few nights ago in a club. When he insults her by accident he knows that he will have his work cut out for him but she will actually come to be more than just an employee to him.

The alternating POV of this story is what makes it so great and it really mad me giggle a few times Stephanie ws so Snarky and Jeremiah was so lost Stephanie's independence and back bone will allow Jeremiah to grow into the man that he is meant to be and in the process they will get their HEA

A well written and engaging story. Jeremiah may seem like a rich jerk but there are many layers to him that only Stephanie seems to be able to discover. Stephanie is the ideal woman with her voluptuous curves, her sassy personality and just a hint of insecurities that have Jeremiah conflicted as he knows he needs to keep it professional being her boss but how can he when she’s everything he needs yet never knew he wanted. This story will take you through twist and turns of arrogance, denial, verbal abuse, scorching sex, vulnerable moments and danger. Throw in a crazy ex employee/one night stand, a condescending father, his three best friends and her best friend and you’ll be swept away. It’s a book that will keep you needing to read just one more chapter until you realize you’ve read the entire book.

Jeremiah is the son of a billionaire who has no desire to take over his father's company, but when his older brother dies, Jeremiah's father is relying on him to do what he had no intention of doing. Stephanie is smart, tough, and fiesty and becomes Jeremiah's new secretary. The chemistry between Jeremiah and Stephanie is explosive. Jeremiah and Stephanie face many ups and downs while fighting the attraction each feels for the other. Stephanie is teaches Jeremiah about love and loyalty. Will Jeremiah be able to stand up to his domineering father? Will Jeremiah and Stephanie fight for their relationship? Will an ex of Jeremiah's cause problems for Jeremiah and Stephanie? I really enjoyed In Too Deep by Ali Parker. I would recommend getting In Too Deep. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.

SMOKIN' BABY!!!
This is one fascinating, intriguing, heart pounding, chemistry off the charts, action packed, page turning bombshell that rocks the ground beneath your feet. Or maybe just mine. Ali tosses everything in one huge pot and stirs vigorously. Throws it the oven and it comes out with all the drama, intrigue, lies, deceit, betrayal in such a whirlwind of emotions. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable. The scenes are descriptive and detailed it really pulls this little treasure together beautifully. All the twists and turns, ups as well as downs turns the heat up to high and suspense filled, nerve racking, nailbiting adventure bringing everything alive before your eyes. Jeremiah and Stephanie had a wild night together. Neither thought they would ever see the other again. However Stephanie is shocked when she learns he is her new employer. Jeremiah is already struggling to take over the job his brother had before him and now he has to deal with the fact that he slept with his new secretary. Sparks fly between them as they attempt to be professional but its not long before the give in to temptation. How will things go between Stephanie and Jeremiah when they cross the professional line?

This is a great story once I started I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Stephanie and Jeremiah is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Great read and how refreshing to have a main female character with a real curvy figure portrayed. Stephanie is strong willed, sassy, funny and not afraid to say what she thinks/feels/wants. She’s not a stick thin stereo type character and I loved that about this book. Jeremiah is a wilful rebellious wild child trying his hardest to be a better man for the sake of his father and the memory of his brother but he finds it really hard work when his father doesn’t even seem to appreciate the effort he’s making or the good job he’s actually doing. There’s also a dark vengeful twist in this tale that keeps you on edge. The chemistry between Steph & Jer is literally explosive and that keeps you hooked throughout. Another really great read from Ali!
