July 30, 2024Norse mythology is so interesting and this book really provides you into the depths of it. I also really loved how the author Magnus Borgerson wrote it in a way where it really just captures you attention. It's almost as if he is speaking to you which really helps to keep you further engaged and continue reading. It's such an interesting topic with so many information about different creatures, gods, goddesses, etc. I love learning about mythology and to read this narrative of how he relates myth to history is very interesting. If you are into mythology, you would definitely love this book and even if you don't find an interest in mythology, I think anyone would find this interesting to read.

This book got me into loving mythology, tales and legends. The author made an incredible job when captivating and retelling all these ancient stories full of gods, giants, heroes and more.
One of the main highlights of this book is the engaging narration made by the author, also, the faithfulness and originality of each one of the stories, and the rich detail of each one of them. On another hand, the illustrations added made the book more interesting and engaging. Overall, this was an amazing book, really enjoyable and outstanding, full of Norse mythology and appealing for any type of reader.

A Must if you like Norse Mythology
I don’t read mythology very often, but every time I do, I love it! This book wasn’t the exception and every time I sat down to read it, my final reaction was “Wow, Norse Mythology is amazing”. This book did not only show me fantastic stories, their roots and Gods, but also helped me understand the Nordic Culture and their beliefs from their very beginning. I highly recommend this book for those who want to get out of the daily routine and immerse themselves in a fantastic and unique world of Gods, Goddess, and mythological creatures. You won’t regret! I think I’m ready to see from another perspective movies like Thor and Hercules.

I picked this up thinking that I would really get something out of it. I have been interested in Norse Mythology for quite some time and when I saw it I thought that this would feed that interest. However, I must have been mistaken about the length listed on the Amazon page for it when I purchased it initially. I thought it was well over 400 pages, but it is only 134 start to finish.
I think a better title might be a beginner's introduction to Norse mythology, or something of the like. This is simply not in depth enough to really serve any other benefit. If you are looking for a good resource in Norse myths and stories, you should look somewhere else.

I was fascinated!
I love mythology, since I was a child with Age of Mythology the video game my hunger and curiosity were awakened.
It is true that the Nordic Mythology is complicated, but this book expresses it in a way that in my opinion is much simpler and clearer. You can tell that the author knows a lot about the subject and that awakens the reader's curiosity even more.
The myths that are talked about and the breakdown of the gods intertwined with each other, makes this book a true masterpiece.

I have studied Viking archaeology in college. I am also a big fan of the God Of War video games. This book is a great guide for anyone who is a fan of either, or if you are just plain curious! It is easy to read, and explains everything in detail. It also thankfully avoids the ethnocentric romanticism common in other Norse mythology works. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in mythology, I know I would have loved to know about this book sooner!
