The premise is good.
During separation they both dated, no details.
I'm struggling to understand or maybe agree with the reason he left her behind.
When they first meet and get to know each other a bit over time, meeting in secret, let's say she is obviously from an abusive household, lack of food and bruises.
His mother even tries to talk to her about the bruises, so they definitely knew.
Then one day, he and his family leave very suddenly, she finds a note.
There is a comment that the Hero had someone keeping an eye on her.
But when they meet again, she is still hurt by his abandoning her.
He basically left her behind as it would have been dangerous to be associated with him.
But she was in an abusive household and ends up on the streets.
His mother, who is also heartbroken to leave her, even says ' we took everything we loved and fled'
Wow that's comforting as they left her behind.
Cliffhanger ending.
This is a 4 book story, which is great as to date they are all released but when I started book 1 there was no indication how many books were to the series, which I really hate.
I'm still struggling to get over leaving her behind....

This was such a WONDERFUL story! I have to say up front that when I got this book, I did not realize it ended on a cliffhanger. I usually avoid these stories, but I’m SO glad I read this and can’t wait for the next book in the series! This was my first JL Drake story and I can say it definitely won’t be my last. Elio and Sienna’s story was an emotional rollercoaster ride from the start to the agonizing cliffy. Love, betrayal, Childhood friends to first time love and a heartbreaking separation that neither of them saw coming until it was too late. Sierra was left with a broken heart and pendant, trying to move through life with a heart shattered to dust. Elio working his way through life with his heart missing until circumstances throw them together once again. Elio is so protective of Sienna and just belonging to him puts her life in danger - especially when it appears they have a threat with inside knowledge of Elio’s organization. The story moved quickly and action packed. The writing was beautiful and the chemistry between the characters was practically tangible. Fabulous read!

Öncelikle kurgu da çok fazla kopukluk vardı.
Şöyle ki; bir olay örgüsü oluşturuluyor tam sonuca varılacak iken birden başka bir konuya geçiliyor.
Ve ne yazık ki zaman atlamaları oldukça fazlaydı ayrıca bu atlamaların olduğunu belirten herhangi bir başlık da yoktu.
Ama en önemlisi yazar kendi bakış açısından mafya kitabı yazdığını söylüyor fakat isimler italyan ismi olunca mafya kitabı olmuyor.
Bir kere daha beklentimi abartınca ne kadar yanılacağımı gördüm.

Got a sneak peak......OMG Drakes "Mafia" is unlike anything I've ever read before & I'm so stinking in love with it. You'll never look at things the same way.
How can a chance encounter, turn your world and heart upside down. But in the La Familia anything can happen. Flash forward 10 years later do those feelings still remain?
Can Sienna overcome her past to let Elio in? Or will the wealth and weight of Elio's responsibilities overshadow all the could be. Guess we'll find out!

What did I just read?!?!?!? So many twists and turns and characters and questions.
I really hope there is a part 2, that ending was insane.
During a very rough, to say the least, childhood Sienna meets Elio. He is an instant friend and confidant. As years pass, Sienna not only befriends Elio but his family as well.
After a heartbreaking realization that he is gone, Sienna leaves all she knows.
Ten years later, through a series of choices and events Sienna finds herself within Elios world once more, although this time she's getting a different perspective and view.
Elio is dealing with his family business and trying to figure out who is loyal and where threats are coming from. He wants to keep Sienna but he loves her too much to put her in harm's way.
Her choices, and past however, may not give him that opportunity.
A great read, however I need book 2 to feel like I'm not in a WTF mindset

Did I just read that or DID I JUST READ THAT!!. Omg Rollercoaster has not enough turns and twists as this La Famiglia Story by Drake. She's gone all out, stuffing this dynamite story with bursting sentiments of all kinds. angst over lost love so acute, it'll break your heart. A girl stuck in hell finds solace by the lake with a boy who makes her feel safe, just like a fairytale where prince charming comes to rescue the Damsel in distress.
“The problem with fairytales is that they don’t show you all the heartbreak that they’ve overcome.”
Oh, and it hurts..... Left with a locket and a promise, clutched tightly to her heart, Sienna's eyes are Forever looking for the missing piece of her heart. Elio holds it in his palm and he wanders around in darkness without her.
“Listen to your heart and hold her tight.”
I cant/won't say anything more, except it's a great start to a very promising mafiadom story and the way Drake leaves us hanging on a cliff, I trust her to keep his mindblowing momentum at the same pace is this one. Loyalties are questioned, betrayal is waiting in the wings with daggers in the hand and everywhere you look, there's enemies by dozens and two lonely hearts standing in the midst of mayhem.

Sienna’s heart is ripped out while it beats when she discovers Elio and his family have left town without even a note.

Wow!!! That cliffy left me with my mouth wide open and I can not wait for the next part!!!
This was an amazing, though very complicated, story and I enjoyed it very much...
This is not my first rodeo with J.L. Drake and I'm really enjoying the way that she is telling her stories!!!
In here, we travelled in a different world of mafia than the usual and I loved this trip on Italy through the author's eyes!!!
Sienna was living a hard life since the moment that her mother abandoned her... She was going through hell and the only ray of hope and light came in the form of an older boy that took notice on her...
From that moment, Sienna and Elio had formed a very strong bond which later became something much more...
Unfortunately, Elio did to Sienna the same thing that her mother did to her... He abandoned her!!!
Ten years later, Sienna and Elio's paths are bound to cross again and their strong feelings are still lingering, but there are too many obstacles that are standing between them!!!
Sienna is on a good place in her life, but Elio's betrayal still stung... and out of nowhere, she is involved into too many crazy and weird things...
Elio just wanted to protect her from his crazy life, but now, she is more involved than ever and he has to make the impossible to keep her safe and to make her forgive him!!!
Well... As I told you above, things were very complicated in here and I'm still kind of frustrated of how everything turned out to be...
I can not wait for the second part in hope that I will get some freakin' answers to my hundred questions...
The only sure thing is that Elio and Sienna were meant to be, but I think that they are having a long road ahead of them to reach their happiness!!!

Whoa, Wanda. What a story! If you're new to J.L. Drake, hold on to your hats because that ending will rock you.
But man, it's absolutely worth it.
This story conveyed so much emotion, so much angst. I was 100% glued to my book. Elio and Sienna's story was an intense and unforgettable ride and I am beyond ready for the next installment in the series.
J.L. Drake is brilliant with words and the way she weaves through all the twists and turns will forever amaze me.
Dark, gripping, and completely captivating, Quiet Wealth is an absolute must-read.
But man, it's absolutely worth it.

AMAZING!!! JL Drake proves there isn't a genre that she can't master! I could not put this book down when I started it. I loved the character dynamic as well as the family dynamic in this book. I felt every emotion while reading this book...then the cliffhanger came. In true JL Drake fashion she ends it and leaves me wanting more. Don't think about reading this book...DO IT!!!!!

Cliffhanger Queen is at it again!!
Hands down one of my favorite MAFIAs. Talk about getting hooked from the beginning! This book put me through so many emotions, ups and downs, twists and turns, I just couldn't put it down and when I did, I went right back and read it again. I loved the characters and the family dynamics but also knowing it's a mafia you need to dig deep to figure it out. And in J.L. Drake fashion she makes it Jaw-Dropping Impossible! I may have used a few explicit words at the ending.
Definitely ONE CLICK, don't wait, trust me!!
Hands down one of my favorite MAFIAs. Talk about getting hooked from the beginning! This book put me through so many emotions, ups and downs, twists and turns, I just couldn't put it down and when I did, I went right back and read it again. Drake does it yet again!!!!
From heartache at the beginning and the hope that is crushed to the crazy dramatic ending, I found myself not able to but this down!!
Like how in the world can J.L. Drake write such captivating, emotional, and intriguing stories?? It blows my mind and thats why she is my favorite author.
I was lucky to get any ARC copy of this long awaited book that had me on the edge of my seat, gasping and needing to collect myself.
And I found a couple of cool little connections between her worlds.
Oh and that hotel scene!! 🥵🥵🥵
Add this bad boy to your TBR it'll he released on July 22!! You dont wanna miss out.

Wow! J.L Drake you out did you’re self! Mafia with all the twist and turns! I think I had every emotion why reading this book! Love hate sad angry it’s all there with Elio and Sienna! And on top of them you have the hole Italian family. Plus you get a little visit from some people we have missed! I could not put this book down and I did not want it to end! And the ending lol that why we love Jodi’s books only she could get by with that kind of ending!

I love this Mafia version. Classy, reserved Mafia with a lot going on behind closed doors. This is how I would definitely picture Mafia. This book was so intense and hot. Dark, delicious mafia romance…
This was a phenomenal read!
Sienna. Elio. His family. Her family. This was a dark story told in a writing style that clearly, understatedly, conveyed so much. There was much darkness and, as promised a lot of twisty yet love and family was at the heart. Secrets swirled around them both as they met as children/young adult and that secrecy followed them everywhere and through the years of their friendship and estrangement. How things came to be, what things had been, what they would be. Well, that was up to them and how they dealt with each blow, each rung on an increasingly complicated ladder…
The intensity. The winding, mystery-tinged plot. The gut-wrenching emotion I could feel, I lived, with these characters… I didn’t know what to do with myself when it ended on a cliffhanger that had me railing against the world. Except be immediately on book-stalking mode. I really can’t wait. Seriously, I’m over here overcome as I not wait… Argh! ~Diane, 5 stars

Enjoyed this fresh take on a mafia romance where the hero does not kidnap heroine or is not a arrange marriage with the enemies daughter. Sienna and Elio found each other when young, became friends to lovers and both were the light to each other darkness until one day out of the blue Elio and his family took off.
Tens year later now back into each other’s lives. Their love story is slow burn with some mild angst. Get to know about Elio and his family who I just adored his mom and dad. Sienna past is still a bit of mystery as just got a glimpse of it. Some great and some shady characters are all at play here.
Good second chance dark mafia romance with secrets, lies and betrayal. Love when J.L. Drake does not hold back on the bloodshed when it comes to Elio taking extreme measures to get answers he needs.
Unpredictable with many twists that I am excited to see how everything is going to play out in next book.

I really enjoyed Quiet Wealth it is book one in the Quiet mafia series and ends in a huge cliffhanger that I didn't see coming . I'm not a huge fan of cliffhangers but by Jl Drake I'll be reading it I just wish I knew that going in that would be my only complaint . My heart broke for the couple with what they went through I just hurt for them . I really liked the character development and the growth they both had with what they went through . I can't wait to read were this leads I'm excited to see what's going to happen .

I absolutely loved this book!! Suspense, intrigue and drama- sign me up! This author transports you to Italy with the wonderful characters and setting. Elio is tall, dark and handsome, who wouldn’t fall in love? Sienna is so relatable with the drama in her life and the constant struggle to overcome. They meet as kids and are forced apart but when they come together again danger is lurking around every corner. Stay tuned for the second installment of the series to see if they can get past the danger.

JL Drake you have torn me apart, broken my heart and then fixed it over and over with this book.
Elio is just.... beautiful. A young boy, befriends and falls in love with a torn down and abused young girl giving her hope and for the first time in years, a safe place.
He has to leave with out her, breaking both of their hearts.
He grows into a king who is deadly but with a soft heart when it comes to Sienna.
Sienna has built herself up from her tragic and terrifying childhood, stronger and more beautiful but when she meets Elio again she is thrown, not knowing if she can ever trust him again. The love is still there, their souls call to each other but will they be able to finally get the future together that they so desperately want.

What a mind-boggling, double-crossing story this was. The scene was set and it sizzled with headache-inducing twists and turns. The characters are exactly as I would picture Mafiosi to be. The no-nonsense, harsh punishments were dealt out, the schemes and who can/can’t be trusted just fried my brain. But it was oh, so delicious.
Elio and Sienna meet as kids and fall in love over time. It’s an epic love that ends abruptly. Ten years pass and they coincidentally meet up again… or was it a coincidence? I’m still trying to work that out. I loved so many of the characters in this story. The loyalty and protection was fabulous and made me feel cosy, warm, and scared to death!
I am invested in this story and was disappointed to find it’s a trilogy; the wait will be agonising. I do need to know who is who, what is what and how they are going to deal with the jaw-dropping situation that’s it’s left behind though.

J.L. Drake hits me again with an amazing book. I fell in love with the characters, their stories, and Italy!!! I fell in love with Elio. I mean who wouldn't? Tall, dark, gorgeous, mysterious, and wears suits all the time!!! Sienna though is my girl!!! She has been through hell and back yet that doesn't stop her. She fights and reaches her goals no matter who may be in her way. Her past will never hold her back! Can I just say, she is totally in my girl gang now!!! I don't like giving much away, so I will say this:
Get this book!!! It will take you on an adventure through Italy and beyond. It is definitely the Summer read you need!!!! Then re-read it, I promise you might have missed something!!!!

Well, J.L. Drake has done it again and made us go and fall in love with her characters once again. This story had the perfect mix of romance, suspense, mystery, heartbreak and so much more.
We loved the characters as they were all totally awesome and what I loved the most about this tale was the fact that all these men that are dark and dangerous their souls were not full of so much darkness they were not able to show kindness as well as love. We loved this about this story the most.
Sienna was a character that my heart went out to and broke for, she was a bit of a mystery that needed solving, and her circumstances were heinous and horrible. We loved that she had those fleeing moments with Elio that she would be able to carry a few happy moments in time from her childhood to look back upon.
We loved that Elio was a bit of a mystery to and as the story progressed you got the feeling that his family was more than wealthy but so much more.
Heartbreak and pain and sorrow has been Sienna's life until she made something of herself but, she still carries a broken heart within for the boy who left her behind without a clue of what happen to him and his family. From the moment Elio and Sienna met, it was clear as day they were destined to be soul mates.
As the story progressed, it took some twists and turns and Sienna finally had someone in her life that had her back and someone to love in her friend Wyatt.
Overall we loved the story had so many twists and turns, and it was amazing how fate intervened for both Elio and Sienna once again, although this time around the stakes are much higher. The story was full of so much intrigue and mystery the story had you guessing the entire time what the heck is really going on who are the players and what's there's angle and why. Bad guys and traitors running a muck through this story.
Overall, we loved the story but, hated the cliffhanger on how the story ended as things we're just heating up, and we wanted more! I was rooting for Elio and Sienna hoping they could make their way back to one another they had so much chemistry and love between them even after so many years apart and even with the betrayals and heartbreak the heart still yearns for the heart of its mate. I am still trying to figure out Mariano and what his game is. Time will tell, but, the cliffhanger that the story ended on was an OMG! Moment, and we can't wait for part 2.

A Freaking Addictive Page Turner 😍😍😍
Oh my... Ms. Drake has just a magical sense of writing to her books that I immediately fall head over heels in love with any book of hers. After reading Trigger I was already a goner and THIS BOOK.. OMG.... CRAZY AMAZING AND I'M SO FREAKING OBSESSED WITH ELIO AND SIENNA RIGHT NOW. 💕💕
That first line had me totally hooked. Where we get to see how Elio and Sienna actually meet, how Sienna lived in extremely bad circumstances yet when she meets Elio her world gets a ray of sunshine whenever she's with him.
It doesn't matter that Elio belongs to a mafia family which Sienna is not aware of because Elio and his parents are so good to her and one of the few who are kind to her.
Before they know it, Elio and Sienna become each other's everything. They are crazy about each other and everything is good except when Sienna has to return back to her so called home where only cruelty exists for her but Elio makes her life bright.
Until one day when her entire world is tossed around and her beloved Elio and his family is nowhere to be found.
This book had me so engrossed, I couldn't read fast enough. I admired how strong Sienna was in spite of the world she's tossed in.
Especially now years later when she's made something out of her life and her career accidentally lands her into a whole new forbidden world. Where unknowingly her past comes out of nowhere in front of her.
It was surreal the moments when Sienna and Elio meet again. Just their love for each other, grown only stronger even when they were absent from each other's lives was mesmerizing to witness.
But not just that we are taken into a crazy world of crimes and secrets and mafia ACTION. Elio's business and his mafia ties.

Hard to get through
It’s difficult to believe J.L. Drake really wrote this. I would think this was written by a much younger, inexperienced writer.
Random thoughts and actions are a constant throughout the book. Maybe some of these things will make sense later, but there’s too many to keep track of if that’s the case.
Every character in this book seems to just float through life in their own idiotic bubble. Even the most horrible things don’t get more than a passing thought in their brick heads.
And mafia? Ha! They talk about how everyone wants what they’ve got, but they don’t seem to have much worth fighting over. Elio keeps saying how everyone is afraid of them, but they’re seemingly beloved by everyone around them. He talks about how loyal his employees are while having to kill at least one a day for disloyalty. His “best friend” (Mariano) constantly does things that are potentially harmful to “the family”, disappears all the time, puts Sienna in direct danger, and everyone acts like he’s just “not on his game”.
Mariano claims to love Sienna, even thought they’ve spent very little time in the same room. But keeps going around with other women right in front of her, then just disappearing with them. For her part, Sienna doesn’t want him but does very little to discourage him. He’s constantly kissing her in front of everybody or making random, inappropriate comments. That really annoys her. 😒
Elio loves Sienna but never quite seems to know what’s going on with her. He’s more worried about which designer suit and shoes he’s going to wear to an event than what is going on with her or where she might have disappeared off to.
Finally, in the end, these people that claim to love and adore Sienna so much and will do absolutely anything to keep her safe (which they never quite manage to do) ask her to continue as Mariano’s “girlfriend” so he won’t suspect they’re on to him now that he’s screwed up beyond what they can continue to ignore.
By the end, I really didn’t like any of the characters and I couldn’t care less what becomes of them.

After reading another J.L. Drake series that I loved, I was curious to find her in a mob story. I love this theme, so how could I resist it? The author makes it clear that she has never really read anything about the mob, so the story is really all her own invention, which I found very intriguing.
Sienna didn’t have an easy childhood. Constantly abused, she only had a little peace when she would sneak back to Elio, the boy who was always so kind to her. With her family, she felt at home. But one day, forced to flee her home, she discovered that he had left without warning and she found herself alone once again. Now a journalist, she decided to tell parts of her story in the hope that her mother would hear about her and come and find her. But this story will attract the attention of Mariano, Elio’s best friend and associate, who will offer the young woman a story so that she will come and spend a few weeks with him. It is in this context that she is going to meet Elio… And if she does not want anything more to do with him, he does not seem to accept it. He is ready to do anything to get her back in his life, despite the danger.
This was a very enjoyable novel, although I found that there were quite a few inconsistencies and I wanted to shake the characters more than once. That being said, I was caught up in the story and couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. Nothing will be easy, that’s for sure! And I must admit, I wasn’t really expecting such an ending. The novel ends in the middle of a scene and I’m curious to read the rest to understand exactly what happens.

This is the story of a young girl, Sienna, with a horrific childhood, beaten and starved. Then she meets Elio, a boy in the woods who lives in a beautiful home with caring parents. The book takes you through her young childhood and her relationship with Elio and his parents until he disappears out of her life. The next thing we know she is grown and is a journalist. She meets Elio again and the feelings are all over the board. She doesn't know the secrets Elio is keeping from her. He and his family are Mafia. I love Mafia books and this one is really good. There's lots going on and I was totally captured by the story line. And so surprised by the ending, I can't wait for the next book.

I have the biggest book hangover I think I have ever had... trust me when I say find a quiet place away from everyone and everything , sit down hold on and enjoy the ride. I have found my new book boyfriend in Elio. Sienna may just be my favorite female character to date. The strength she has shown thus far is just amazing. I can not wait to see what will happen next. JL Drake you have made me a mafia book fan for sure.
