Romain pensaba que había escapado del control de Eduardo, pero cuando es "invitado" a participar en una competencia en el bosque que rodea la universidad, no puede evitar pensar que tal vez él este ahí. Así que cuando se da cuenta que esa "competencia" no es mas que otra forma de lograr que Eduardo lo reclame de nuevo, pero esta vez tiene que ser voluntario, pero realmente Romain querrá volver a ser la "mascota" de Eduardo? Realmente quiere volver a estar bajo su control? Que ganaría si lo fuera? Que perdería?

Por fin llegamos a conocer a la pareja de Eduardo, un chico que fue su mascota cuando eran adolescentes y que su padre le quito para que viera si era realmente lo que quería o si era solo un capricho. Conocemos todo el pasado entre ellos, pero poco del presente de la competencia y de los otros "hermanos". Y aunque vemos que ha sido de la vida de los otros 3, es solo de forma superficial y sin entrar en detalles. Además entre estos dos la relación parece mas un Síndrome de Estocolmo que mantiene a Romain "enamorado" de la persona que realmente lo "cuido".
En fin, fue una serie interesante, pero el primer libro le gana a toda la serie, no solo por su originalidad, si no por la forma como el autor nos hace, realmente, sentir las dudas de nuestro prota y las razones por las que continua en la competencia. El resto de los libros esta ok, pero se siente mas una repetición del primero con pocas variables. De repente mas adelante busco otros libros del autor a ver si resultan igual o mejores que esta serie.

Jesus!! I just knew the Gold Masks book would be naughty. Shewww weeee. I loved it! (Trapped is still the best one)
I love that the MCS had a history together. They had the best connection in the series. I liked that we got to see a lil into their past. Edouard may have been unhinged, but he loved and cared for his pet 🥹
The part with the stars and kitten was really sweet.
The only thing I hate is how these abruptly end. I wish there was an epilogue.

Oh my goodness, this was something else.

Edouard Beaumont and Romain Lefèbvre shared a history. Years ago Edouard had Romain on his knees, until one moment he lost him when he disappeared. After years, at Saint-Laurent, the prestigious school, at Monterrey Castle, at the Wicked Chase, Edouard has the chance to make him his again.

“My Romain”

“Control. Dominance. Sexual power.”

Romain’s heart and head work against each other. His heart wants to submit to Edouard so badly, his head speaks against it, and his knife wants too. He will not show Edouard how affected he is by him, how he craves for him.

Edouard is the son of a drug lord, the odd one, different than the other upper-class guys, but behind the scenes everyone is depraved and every business dirty.
Romain is the son of an addicted mother, he always lived in poverty, until… he was kept at the Beaumont mansion, especially by Edouard Beaumont.

Fasten your seatbelts because this Wicked Chase is one hell of an emotional ride.
Okay, I ended up with thick goosebumps!

I absolutely ate this series up. I swear every time I read one I think this one’s the best but I honestly can’t pick a favourite because they’re all so good. but I gotta say out of all of them this one was the darkest. and there was so much angst and spice I really loved it

Romain and Edouard is the perfect dynamics with a complicated past and the way we spring between past and present where we really get to see their relationship becoming what it is was a fantastic twist to the plot

The golden mask is the final hunt we’ve been waiting for it’s incredible to see romain’s heart work against his mind somethings always working against the other but at last the heart and the mind combine and win what they both been fighting for

“I hated it. I wanted him back the way I’d trained him—my sweet, obedient pet. Mine. Not this sociable nob head. Mine. Not this wannabe rich kid. Mine. Oh, yes. I was going to get my hands on him and keep him down. Carve my dominance into his existence and bring him back where he belonged. But the universe had other plans for me.”

Marked is incredibly erotic and it was beautiful to read I was also pleasantly surprised to see the previously contestants/(mc’s from the other books) give in to their desires the scene with Oliver was so unexpected yet perfect for the series it was so erotic and sensual I wish to see more of it in the future

We finally get to meet gold mask who is the possessive crazy Edouard and he truly is a wild one there was a lot of miscommunication between the main characters I feel like if they just sat down and had a talk maybe they wouldn’t have been so far from each other to start with

As seriously had to rate this 5/5 stars it is amazing and I am planning on reading the whole series now that we finally have the final peace

Edouard and Romain are absolute gems. They have a history that runs so deep, no one could ever tear them apart. They have a true Dom/Sub relationship and so much love for each other.
Golden Mask was the final mask, and definitely the best one!

This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.

This is the fourth and final book in Lola Malone’s Wicked Chase series. This book features Golden Mask, AKA, Edouard. Edouard and Romain have a history. Their story goes back and forth between the past and present. The flashbacks provide a deeper understanding of the dynamics that Romain and Edouard share.

Romain is held captive by Edouard’s dad in order to pay off his mother’s debts. Romain is there to be Edouard’s pet. The two become inseparable until one day when they are torn apart. Two years later, they meet again at Saint-Laurent. It’s the Wicked Chase again and this time Edouard is determined to have Romain take his place at his side, as his brother in the Alpha Fraternarii.

This novella is a dark romance. It’s darker than some of the others in the series. This story is very well thought out and written in a visceral, yet sensual, manner. It features violence, primal play, knife play, blood play, kitten play and dubcon. Edouard is somewhat unhinged and extremely possessive of Romain. The strong feelings and pull towards his heart’s desire is mutual between the two MCs. Though this is Edouard and Romain’s story, it does include a couple of MMM scenes. Just FYI.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO SO SO MUCH! I LOVED THE STORY LINE FOR THESE 2... IT WAS A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT STORY TO THE OTHER ONES I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT. The always elusive, mystery that is golden mask has finally been revealed ! And OH BOY! What a wild ride these novellas have been.

Each novella has me falling in love with each chosen couple in such a special way, and each time I’m wishing it would never end 😫

I loved seeing glimpses of past couples in each book, and this one even came with a bit of a surprise that I wasn’t expecting! HOW EXCITING FOR MY BOYS!

Edouard and Romain have a past. Boy oh boy do they have a past history that spans years! Not totally unlike some of our other couples, but this one is a bit different in the fact that you get to experience some past/ present timeline within.

I would say this book was a bit less spicy than the others, but the story really felt like it was much longer than just a few hours worth of reading! I was fully immersed in this one!

I couldn’t think of a better way to finally unveil gold mask and his story, and this was just perfect. Sexy, sensual, and sweet!

I have finished this book in one sitting 😻
And I can say that was stunning in so many levels 😍
Lola took the chasing into a whole different level ❤️, I held my breath in many scene ❤️the crazy obsession of Edouard toward Romain was breathtaking 😍
Edouard found his knife match with Romain and they was like two pieces completing each other 🧩.
I hated Romain mother, she doesn't diserve to be called a mother 💢, she traded her son for her addiction and then looked disgust of him, she should be the one to feel shame not him who traded his life for his mother 😢
The chase was completely nerve racking and the details was soooo real that I felt that I was part of the chase with the characters 😍
That was sooooooo amazing on all levels ❤️

{This is my honest ARC review}

I didn't know how much I would like #4 compared to #3 with Alexandre and Olivier, but OMG I think this might be my favorite in the Wicked Chase series?? Keep in mind that I'm a big fan of horror and psychological thrillers, and this novella definitely falls into the category of "dangerous people doing terrible things for the one they love" —one of which is no spoiler since it opens the novella on the very first page.

(As always, please check trigger warnings and be mindful of your mental health when choosing your own reading experience)

It's hitting some of my favorite tropes:

Co-dependent murder husband
"It's easy to say 'I would die for you,' I would KILL for you"
Past lovers reunited
Complicated history
Unspoken mutual love
Toxic psychological relationships that are fascinating to unpack


They knew each other from the past! They were thrown together in sketchy circumstances! They were enamored with each other and became inseparable, though they didn't communicate their feelings! They were separated and misunderstandings and mixed feelings of longing/abandonment have followed them to the present! One of them killed a PRIEST out of revenge and we learn the origin of that golden tooth! This final novella had a refreshingly different vibe from the other three and alternated not just between different POVs but different timelines that made the story feel longer and more intriguing since there's more to unpack than just the two-hour time limit of the Wicked Chase from midnight to 2am.

Edouard is the son of a drug lord, while Romain is the son of a drug-addict. Their complicated history and the consensual bond they begin to form before they're ever students at Saint Laurent tugged on my heart strings, especially because Edouard had grasped the severity of Romain's home life. Many readers can struggle with toxic, co-dependent relationships and the unequal power dynamics they bring, but I'm the kind of reader who finds those gray areas intriguing because you see why characters turn out the way they are (which is its own kind of fun, if you ask me!) And don't be fooled, there is a respectful romantic side of their dynamic to be found!

Underneath their co-dependency is the simple reality: Edouard and his family can take care of Romain where his apathetic, coke-addicted mother could not. Besides the obvious underlying attraction (it IS a spicy novella, after all) is this knowledge, and it fuels their mutual obsession for one another as it becomes clearer and clearer that Romain has no reason to continue protecting a failure of a mother who cares more about her drugs than her own son. Romain wasn't free, but he was protected and loved.

Okay, as for my main criticisms!
There were some plot points that I felt were either glossed over or unresolved, and I still had questions at the end about one problem in particular that never got addressed, especially because it involved everyone there. There was also a lot of drama caused by a misunderstanding of their separation and miscommunication, which I wished they could have talked out more, especially considering how long they've known each other.

Some of these things just bothered me too much by the time I'd reached the end, so I had to take off some stars and give it a 3.75 stars after all. However, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy seeing how this unique fourth installment of the series unfolded!

If you've followed the series thus far, you'll be happy to see a reappearance by all of the previous characters coming together in one last emphasis on what it really means to be part of this brotherhood, and to be accepted into Alpha Fraternarii — a chance to start over and not only "rewrite history" as an organization, but your own personal history as an individual. Thinking back, fans of the previous books will be reminded how Romain is not alone in his lack of power, prestige or wealth and yet he's still nominated to become part of Alpha Fraternarii without question.

I feel spoiled: I get a good toxic romance to unpack, mutual pining with a shared history, AND a mysterious murder husband all rolled together for this one!! Lola, you've finally hit all my boxes for what I want in a spicy dark academia romance novella!

MARKED by Lola Malone, the fourth and final book in The Wicked Chase series, is like that last bite of dessert you don't want to finish.
Here, Malone throws us straight into the story of Edouard and Romain, two guys with a complicated past who, thanks to fate, cross paths again at Saint Laurent boarding school. Get ready to bounce between present and past like you're on an emotional rollercoaster, because the drama is 100% guaranteed.

And speaking of mysteries… we finally meet Golden Mask! Yep, that character who's been lurking in the shadows since the first book. A disturbed guy, knife in hand, with a thirst for blood and sex, wandering the forest during the hunt? Well, Lola, take a bow. This character is as dark and twisted as you can imagine, but let’s be real, it's exactly what we were hoping for.

This book is a bit of an oddball in the series. Less spicy, maybe, but isn’t it the most erotic one? I don’t know, to me it was sexy as hell, with those constant tensions that keep you glued to the pages.

Oh, and the chases inside the castle? Lola really turned things up a notch here! The originality of mixing mystery, intrigue, and that dark academia, meticulously detailed atmosphere surrounding Saint Laurent is just top-notch. Bravo!

And if that weren’t enough, the cameos… pure nostalgia! It’s like catching up with old friends who’ve made each book in The Wicked Chase unforgettable. Lola has wrapped up the series so flawlessly that, honestly, I’m left wanting more nights of darkness and depravity in the Monterrey woods.

"Marked" is the perfect closing this saga deserved. Now I’m left with an existential void because, let’s be real, I need and want more 😅

Edouard Beaumont will get his pet back no matter what. Romain will run and excepts his place where it belongs. These two are marvelous together. They went through a lot of pain to get where they are at the end of the book. I like that both of them are crazy about each other. Even when they’re apart, they can’t stop thinking about each other. Both are crazy in different ways. That is why they are perfect match. The both of them have each other’s hearts in their hands. I like that Romain always knew Edouard would be it for him. He’s the only one that understands what Romain truly wants. I like that Romain found power to fight back and worked on himself when he was away. Even though he still wants Edouard to protect him. I also love that he got to choose is own future. What I like about Edouard is how possessive an obsessive he is with Romain. I like that he’s dominant and knows what he wants. I love the fact that he has his empire waiting for him at home, but he will not go back until he has Romain by his side. Edouard family is great because his father gives him advice about relationships, and also everybody in this family likes Romain. Also his family will support whatever he chooses to have in his life. I really did enjoy reading about these two. I love their backstory. I love that this author way more in-depth with this book. I also like the fact that you were to see past characters from the other books. And it shows just how connected the characters because they want to get to know Romain and help him gain confidence so he can win the wicked chase. After reading Marked, this is one of my favorite books that Lola has written.

Our golden mask boy finally gets his guy! We’ve seen a lot of Edouard (aka golden mask) throughout the other three novellas, and now it’s his turn for the Wicked Chase! And let me tell you, Edouard has met his match.

“Masked” is very different from the other novellas as Edouard and Romain have a history that spans years. They used to be inseparable, with late night chats about the solar system. Edouard was a safe space for Romain that he desperately needed. Until it was time for Edouard to begin learning the ins and outs of the family business, and Romain went off to Saint Laurent Boarding School. Two years later and now Edouard has officially been enrolled to Saint Laurent. While he’s primarily there to help out the family business, his main goal is to get Romain back - the keeper of his heart, his pet - and never let him go.

Like I mentioned earlier, this book is a different read than the others, but still just as good. We get both past and present POVs from our boys. This one is a tad less spicy than the others, but the tension and history between Edouard and Romain make up for it! Plus we may or may not get a glimpse of the next book from this world, and if it is who I think it is, let’s just say it’s going to be epic! I also loved that we got more of past couples from the novellas and main series. This book was a perfect way to tie up the novellas. I hope we see more of our boys in the future!

This is the fourth installment in the Wicked Chase series, featuring Edouard and Romain. These two have previous history together when Edouard, son of the country’s drug lord, had Romain as his submissive “pet” in payment for Romain’s mother’s drug debt. Romain was freed and left Edouard two years ago and was sent to the Saint-Laurent Boarding College for Boys to work on his degree. Edouard showed up at the school 9 months ago, but the two have had little contact until the night of the fourth, and final, Chase of the school year. Romain is one of the Participants and Edouard is the brother who will chase and claim him, then initiate him into the Brotherhood, the secret society at the school.

This book is different than the others because there are a lot of flashbacks of the time when Romain was Edouard’s pet, told from both points of view. The interactions and emotional connections were complicated in the past, and are more so now as the Chase unfolds. I found parts of this book a bit more confusing than the previous ones, but the story was complex and interesting enough to keep me engaged as Edouard and Romain found their way back to each other. The book is dark, but I think it is the least dark of the four. The series is an interest premise with great world building and fascinating characters. I would recommend this book, and the series as a whole, if you like plots outside the usual.

Before I begin my review,..... HOLY MOLY I LOVED THIS STORY!

After three WONDERFUL novellas and finally getting the chance to read Golden Mask's story, Lola Malone delivered a spectacular conclusion to the Wicked Chase.

Marked is the final installment where the elusive Golden Mask is finally revealed and was nothing short of a wild ride. Edouard and Romain’s story is truly unforgettable, with a deep history that spans across quite a few years.

Their relationship is explored through both past and present timelines, which adds so much depth and beauty to their journey. After being split for two years, Edouard finds Romain and proves once and for all Romain belongs to him and he uses the Wicked games to attain his pet who stole his heart once and for all.

Marked took me on an whirlwind journey filled with excitement, sensuality and spiciness. The bold narrative, combined with its steamy yet swoonworthy moments, left me completely engrossed and wanting more.

Overall, Marked delivers the best conclusion to the Wicked Chase and I can't wait for the next installment in the world of Saint Laurent's Boarding College for boys.

I give this story a 2.5, rounded up. If you go into this book accepting of over-the-top depictions of college secret society students, you may find it entertaining. In this version of the hunt, we have Edouard, a drug lord’s son, and Romain, the young man given to Edouard to cover his addict mother’s debt. Edouard views Romain as a possession, and following a two year separation, seeks to reclaim him in the hunt.

The story mostly spans the single evening of the hunt and subsequent soirée, but we are given glimpses of the past. Edouard and Romain’s relationship is toxic and contained power dynamics that I do not enjoy. The young men that make up the Fraternarii are entitled, and their actions are simultaneously off putting and laughable. Edouard was no exception. The hunt borders on ridiculous, and the escapades that follow are no better. I do not understand how extremely possessive characters can share their partners, and that is not something that I like to read in my romances, even the dark ones. So, in conclusion, this book was not meant for me. Others may enjoy it, but there were too many components that opposed my romantic notions.

We are back Saint-Laurent for another masked man!

We get to dive into Gold masks story. I have been so excited for this one! This novella did not disappoint one fckin bit!!!! 😍

We learn that Edouard and Romain already have history together. We get flashbacks of this throughout the book.
He had Romain exactly where he wanted him on his knees until he vanished. You know Edouard is about to do everything to get back whats his 👏🏻

Despite it not being as spicy as the others the flashbacks make it worth it. I promise!

I LOVE the attitude on Romain. He has got one fiery mouth 🤭 his character is so relatable with his head saying one thing and his heart saying another.

“You’re still mine. You have always been, and you always will be.” OH EDOUARD 🥹

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE cats. I’m so happy they got to keep the actual kitten 🐈‍⬛

I love all the novellas in this series but this is my ultimate favourite. We’re protecting Edouard and Romain AT ALL COSTS 🖤

All Edouard wanted was to have his pet back and show him that he belonged to Edouard and no one else, even if he would be able to have a little bit of fun with the other brothers. Can Edouard persuade Romain that he was always gonna be his pet and it's what he wants, wether Romain believes he's changed and not that person anymore. Romain can't forget the two years he spent as Edouard's pet, how safe and loved he felt in that position and even if he doesn't want to full admit it out loud, he wants it now. Finally gold mask gets his prey, his pet, his lover back after those years without him. Romain finally finds his place back at Edouard's feet and found a family of brothers as well, in the process.

All the masked members are deranged in one way or another, but we finally get to meet the most deranged one and he sure knows how to make a chase fun for everyone. I liked we got most of this book from Gold masks POV, because it really helped with the backstory and the history between Edouard and Romain.

Ця частина сподобалась. Було багато романтики. Ну як романтики? Збоченної, але романтики. Тут розповідається не скільки про Дику погоню (про неї ми вже все зрозуміли), скільки історію Едуарда та Ромена. Що між ними було, що сталося і чому вони змушені були залишити одне одного.
Ну і звичайно самий відбитий серед усіх "золота маска" виявився самим романтичним тіпом. Спочатку він тебе зробить своїм улюбленцем та на ціпок золотий посадить. А потім котика тобі подарує, бо ти ж найцінніший у його житті і ти хочеш кошеня 😁 Ну мілота.

Коротше кажучи, я втягнулася в цей всесвіт. І мені подобається. Так, я розумію всі недоліки цих історій (і я не про збочення 🙈), але все-одно цікаво.
Найкраще в них, що хоч вони про збочення, але здебільшого усюди тут є згода (місцями сумнівна, але згода) та доволі романтичні та дбайливі збоченці 😂. Вони спочатку лякають та полюють на своїх хлопчиків, знаходять їх (ну звісно...). А потім "заявляють на них свої права", але дбайливо 😂.
Чи рекомендую я це. Ні, абсолютно ні. Але не жалкую, що прочитала сама. Ну якось так.

And we finally have Gold Mask. This is the final novella in the Wicked Chase series. This is the story of Edouard & Romaine. This story is a bit different than the rest, as these two already have a past, a history together. Edouard is the son of a drug lord, and Romaine is the son of a drug addicted mother. Romaine's mother essentially sells him to Edouard to pay off her debt to them. Romaine then becomes Edouard's "pet".

This story went back and forth between present at Monterrey Castle, and the time Edouard and Romaine were together before. I honestly feel like this could have been written as a full novel, they had a history that I would have loved to see more fully developed. These two had a very solid connection, and Romaine has a need to feel owned - I would have loved to see that explored more.

All in all, this collection of novellas has been very entertaining, I have loved each "mask". I'm sad to see the Wicked Chase has come to an end, but I'm sure we will still have more stories at Saint Laurent school!

I thank you to the author for the ARC of this whole series. I loved every book. They were short, fun, and full stories that gave a satisfying ending.

This book did not disappoint as the last book in this series of novellas. This one felt deeper as we learn early on that there's a deeper connection. These two knew each other before the games even began.

These two had me in a chokehold. These two clearly need each other and they bring out the best in each other, and they're able to really let go when they're with each other.

I love relationships like this where the partners seem to have a connection that others might not understand. As I feel I have with my partner. I also loved the use of the non-consent. When the one partner fought against everything he actually wanted. But his partner knew him well enough to know what he needs and wants despite what he says.

These books are some of my favourites and I will be recommending them.

Leave the best to last.
Throughout this series we have seen more and more glimpses of Edouard (Gold mask) and it has got me so curious of who the real Edouard was.
I also thought I knew what to expect but no this was so different to the others. This pairing have history, so a lot of the story is Edouard and Romain back story which I loved as we got to see a young Edouard and his pet Romain and you can understand why Edouard was so obsessed with him.
This story is darker than the others and the anticipation to the finale had me reading faster and faster. To see if Romain gave in to his cravings of wanting to be owned
Previous characters make more of an appearance making this a great final book to the series, now if we can get one bumper book of them after 5-10 years in the future I would be extremely happy as with each book I wanted to know what happened next

OMG, this novella is a more than worthy conclusion to this delicate series. Finally we have the story of Golden Mask. In the previous novellas, he was like a dark, cruel cloud looming over each story. Now we get to see a different side. I never thought I would fall in love with him and his chosen one right away. Although Marked has some very hot scenes with some spicy kink, I think this story goes much deeper. These two have an intense past that intertwines brilliantly with the current storyline. I would have loved to read more of Edouard and Romain's story. It's a shame that this is the last installment in The Wicked Games series.

Marked was probably my favorite Lola Malone book I've read.

This book had the best storyline of all the books in this series. Edouard and Romain knew each other from when they were teenagers and they had a pretty intense history. I'm normally not the biggest fan of pet play but I like how it was written in this story. It was super exciting and entertaining to read and I liked how the chosen ones from the other books were there for him. Especially the scenes with Olividr were hot which was exactly what I wished for in this book.

It was a good way to end this series but I kinda wished we saw a scene with Romain and Edouards dad. Otherwise it was pretty cute.

Just one word- Exceptional! The last book in this brilliant series and talk about going out with a bang! I was avidly awaiting this book to read Golden Mask's story and what a brilliant conclusion to the Wicked Chase series. I was completely enthralled from beginning to end in this whirlwind story as we find out who the elusive Golden Mask is and follow Edouard and Romain’s journey both in the past and present. The exciting plot had so many unforgettable moments that were so well portrayed. I found the storyline was perfectly paced and so sensual at times. I absolutely loved it! Highly recommend.

Yup easily the best of the four whilst the plot was little it was their romain eduoard were cute honestly a few very cute pallet cleanser book I didn’t have to think too hard to read it the spice was honestly spicing in this like man had him on a chain but I digress very good read and one I enjoyed will I forget it more then likely but for what it was it ate and I had a really fun time I think I’m gonna try a full length book by this author though because her books have been so easy to read my main thing is they’ve not been long enough (I’m aware it’s a novella) but yeah overall very fun very spicy read

Eduard, we could call him unhinged or obsessed or crazy or just agree on all of the above. Either way, I was in love with the characters in this book. Eduard and Romain have a past together that is a bit non-traditional, to say the least, but as Robin runs the wicked chase, he soon realizes he wants to be Eduards pet deep down again. Which works because Eduard has no intention of losing him again.

I absolutely loved this entire series. My only complaint is that there is no more to read

This was such a beautiful written novella, I miss the wicked chase already.

Finally getting to meet Golden Mask and his pray, and boy, they did not disappoint! This was an amazing rollercoaster, full of so many emotions. The jumping between past and present in the timeline is adding so much depth and beauty to their story

This novella made me so emotional. They are all there. All of our beautiful boys are here.
I’m not ready for this univers to end.

Overall, I absolutely love this book it's just amazing!

Marked by Lola Malone is a dark MM romance novella. I love this series and have enjoyed every fresh book the author puts out. This one is as wild of a roller coaster as all the other ones she has written. The characters were well put together and put into an exciting plot in a similar plod setting.

Edouard and Romain have a long shared history together. One that is reignited in this story in a very descriptive way. Edouard has waited for years for this. While Romain fights it his heart wants it.

Another great addition to the series. Loved it.
