I get what the author was going for, but repetition ruined this book. I kept thinking I was spacing out and rereading but nope, it was the same information given to me again on the next page. This book had so much potential as well.
it felt like this book was written more for someone who wants to learn more about depression and support a loved one and not actually for someone who has been dealing with it. it did a good job of explaining symptoms and treatment options for someone unfamiliar and could help someone with situational depression or less severe depression.
but, it felt repetitive to me as someone who has been dealing with chronic depression for years and having various treatment plans and medications. it didn’t actually provide me with any new or useful information.
if the book was titled, “what is high functioning depression and how to help a loved one with it”, then i would have given it 4 or even 5 stars but since it was supposed to be about HOW to break free and find happiness, im giving it 2.5
Dnf 70%; extremely vague, lots of repetitions, barely any science references. Hard to say it was a useful book to read but chapter about meds and therapy options wasnt that bad (in comparison to others)
