Born in 1963, Michael Hicks grew up in the age of the Apollo program and spent his youth glued to the television watching the original Star Trek series and other science fiction movies, which continues to be a source of entertainment and inspiration. Having spent the majority of his life as a voracious reader, he has been heavily influenced by writers ranging from Robert Heinlein to David Weber, and many in between. Having finally retired from government service, Michael and his lovely wife, along with their Siberan cat, Nina, are enjoying life as expats in France.
What an emotional rollercoaster! I wasn’t ready for how invested I’d become in Aria and Sebastian’s journey. The writing is sharp and cinematic, with action scenes that feel straight out of a movie. Aria’s character, fierce, flawed, and beautifully human, is one of the best written heroines I’ve ever read. This isn’t just romance; it’s about survival, forgiveness, and fighting for the right to love who you love.
In Her Name by Hicks was the first book I read on my Kindle and I stayed up all night finishing it! This book captured me the same way (writing this in the middle of the night). Great characters and nonstop action.
