Anyone But... #3

Jenom ne Nick

Rate this book

Možná bych s ní mohla zatavit i své city, než tu práci přijmu.

USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Amazon Charts Bestselling author Penelope Bloom is taking her first flight into romantasy—and yes, there are dragons. After years of contemporary romance, she's temporarily trading meet-cutes for magical academies and coffee shops for castles that reek of blood. She promises the banter is just as sharp, but now it comes with deadly consequences.

Fun fact: “Penelope Bloom” started as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the family dog, Penelope—never meant to be anything serious. But then the books took off, and the name stuck. Behind the scenes, Penelope Bloom is actually a husband-and-wife team. He handles the writing; she edits, helps with brainstorming, and runs the reader-facing side of things (like social media and messages). So if you’ve chatted with “Penelope” online, you’ve likely been talking to her—with the author chiming in whenever needed. Together, they’ve built the voice readers know and love.

ANYONE BUT NICK (Anyone But… Book #3) by Penelope Bloom is the third book in the King Brothers contemporary romance trilogy. This one is an enemies-to-lovers romance that can be read as a standalone, but I preferred to read them in order to see each of the brothers fall and keep all of the connections and timelines straight between characters.

In high school. Miranda always felt a special connection to Nick King. When she finally built up the courage to slip a poem into his locker to let him know, she does not sign it and it is the cause of a seven-year misunderstanding and her hatred of Nick King.

Miranda has her life all planned out in steps to get her to the top of the corporate ladder with the perfect mate. But it has all fallen apart. She broke up with her perfect boyfriend and was fired from her perfect job. When she goes to apply for a new VP position, she can not believe Nick King just bought the business.

Nick is impressed by Miranda’s resume, but he wants more. He never understood what happened to their friendship in high school and he has never been truly satisfied with any other woman. Nick gives Miranda the job. Will he be able to work with Miranda on a strictly professional level or will they be able to give their friendship a second chance and turn it into more?

I enjoyed Nick trying to find the right way to deal with Miranda, while not treading all over her feelings, but I had a difficult time warming up to Miranda. I did not understand why she was so set on her professional persona when her best friends and family were all fine with the real Miranda. It took her too long to figure that out. Once Cade got involved, I enjoyed the story more and Miranda started to loosen up. The sex scenes are explicit, but not gratuitous.

This is a good close to the trilogy, but not my favorite of the three books. I loved reading the epilogue that showed the families all happy in the near future. This is a fun and entertaining trilogy to read.

Another great story for the King brothers. Funny and sweet Melinda and Nick’s second chance was perfect! Love and Laughter are in abundance in the Anyone But... series. Especially when Cade is on scene. These brothers are so different and extremely swoon-worthy.

Seven years ago three heartbroken girls swore an oath to never, ever date or love a King brother again. Then the King brothers came back. All grown and sexy and richer than ever. But like dominoes, one by one each of these besties fell and fell hard.

Now it’s Miranda’s turn. The one BFF that held to their oath the strongest. She was adamant that they not IGNORE the past or give them the chance to break their hearts again. Good thing Iris and Kira didn’t listen. Now is her chance at a missed opportunity with the guy she strongly connected with in high school. Now her carefully constructed life and perfect image are crumbling at the seams. Which is the perfect time to open up and try life from a different angle.

This second chance for Miranda and Nick was perfect and a great ending to the series. I fell so quickly and so deeply for each of the characters and couldn’t be happier at how it all turned out.

Author: Penelope Bloom
Title: Anyone but Nick
Series: Anyone But, #3

BASIC FACTS:
Pages: 236
audiobook length (1x speed): 07:13 h
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Romance
Protagonist Ages: approximately 26-30
Pacing: slow burn

It was a good finish for this series and a HEA all over. I loved the interaction between Nick and Miranda. And there was also a change of behaviour in some side characters, whom I never liked.
The issue between Nick and Miranda 7 years back was addressed, so we know what went down. And I liked the plot idea of this book.

Anyone But Nick by Penelope Bloom a five-star read that everyone should read. This is number three in the Anyone But series and they all tell the story of a different King brother, Nick was always the one who keeps himself to himself, Cade is the crazy one who lives for the thrill and the snails, Rich was the cocky Romantic one, with the grand gestures and lovely attitude, Nick was the studious one working away in the background. But all of that changes in this story, this time Nick has the limelight shone on him and shine he does. This was a good story; it did drift a little in the middle and I nearly didn’t give it five-stars but overall the story was just so good. I loved the whole aspect of Bark Bites and where they go with it, Miranda was a great and funny character one you can easily get behind and her relationship with a certain Bone is just super special.

Thanks to @netgalley & @montlakeromance_france for my ARC of Anyone But Nick.
This is the final of the trilogy and it’s by far my favourite. I roared with laughter and loved the story. Cade is still my favourite character 🐌 he’s absolutely nuts but I love him. These are great easy romantic reads. Just fab!! Ending was perfect but I wanted to know a bit more about Max & Robbie.

ANYONE BUT NICK is the third and final instalment in Penelope Bloom’s contemporary, adult ANYONE BUT… romance series focusing on the King brothers: twins Rich and Cade, and younger brother Nick. This is billionaire businessman Nick King, and Miranda Collins’ story line. ANYONE BUT NICK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: Seven years earlier high school friends Miranda, Kira and Iris made a promise to never date the King brothers in response to heartbreak, secret and lies that spiralled out of control. Fast forward to present day wherein the King brothers have returned to their hometown of West Valley, North Carolina in an effort to upstart a new division in their billion dollar high tech industry.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Nick and Miranda) ANYONE BUT NICK follows the enemies to friends relationship between billionaire businessman Nick King, and Miranda Collins. In high school, Miranda Collins had been secretly in love with Nick King but our hero mistakenly thought that an anonymous poem written by Miranda was written by her friend Kira, and made a play for someone else. Fast forward to present day wherein Miranda is at a crossroads in both her personal and professional life finds herself the new vice-president of the King brother’s latest business acquisition. Working for Nick King means up close and personal with the man that destroyed her heart, a man who had been secretly in love with our heroine, in return. What ensues is the tempestuous but building relationship and romance between Nick and Miranda, and the potential fall-out as Miranda’s past comes looking for a second chance by taking aim at the King family dynasty.

Miranda Collins has a love-hate relationship with Nicholas King, a relationship destroyed by a case of mistaken belief, and a perception of unrequited love. Working directly under our story line hero forces all of the old feelings front and center, especially when Nick organizes a employee weekend, that is about to pull the couple into a potential disaster that will quickly get out of control. Nick wants Miranda Collins, and making a play for his new vice-president means admitting his heart has always wanted our story line heroine but the yin and yang of their personal relationship is fraught with sexual tension and barely controlled tension and anxiety. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and fun. Reporter Max Frost is looking for some dirt on the King Brother’s empire. We are reintroduced to Nick’s twin brothers Rich and his wife Kira; Cade and Iris, and Cade’s son Bear; as well as their parents Harper and Edna King. Miranda’s ex boyfriend Robbie is determined to pull Miranda back into his life even if it means using every game necessary to destroy the man with whom she has fallen in love.

ANYONE BUT NICK is a story of family and friendships; betrayal and revenge. The premise is fast paced and entertaining; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are energetic, and real-the witty banter and child-like humor of Cade King is alone, worth the price of admission to Anyone But Nick.

In the two previous novels, I didn't really like Miranda that much. She was very uptight and seemed fairly unforgiving. In this novel, we get to know her better and I must say, she is my favorite out of the three. The conflict was a little silly at times because it all dates back to who dated who in high school, but was all in good fun. Seeing Nick chasing after any guy he thought caught her interest was very entertaining.

Don't sleep on Nick. He's just as bad as his older brothers. YUM!

" 'I am a big girl, Nick. And I certainly don't need my boss trying to police my personal life'

'Wait. Personal life? When Did Max Frost and his stupid-ass name stop being a business opportunity and start being part of your personal life?'

Miranda took a step back and raised her voice again so Max could her. 'You said my cabin actually had two bedrooms, didn't you?'

'No,' I said quickly. ' Completely out of the question. As an employee, you-'

'You can crash in the other bedroom.' She was ignoring me now and talking to Max like I'd spontaneously puff out of existence. ' I think it's the kind that is separated by doors with locks, so we can each have our own space.'

I was going to kill him, especially when I saw the brief, smug glance he threw my way. He thought he was winning. I wondered how smug he'd look if I accidentally knocked him down the hill."

Lol this is one of my favorite parts in the book. Nick Jealousy front and center. No more cold shoulders or trying to put distance between the two. Not when his feelings are more than dominating his thought of view and action. But are about to take over his control to make sure his woman stays with him and not with someone else.

But, WOW was a book!

Out of all 3 books I'm more than surprise to say that Nick is my favorite. Esp considering that I really love Cade and Iris book. Esp. Cade himself. But No Nick took the trophy for winning.

In this book I found myself laughing a lot between Cade and Nicks antics, as well as Nicks comments to Miranda. He really started to sound more and more like Cade.

I was always curious as to what was the details behind the two not being together, and why Miranda had so much resentment towards him. But one thing for sure is that in this book you can really get a feel of how one little misunderstanding, can cause large waves of anger and resentment towards a group.

I really, really, love reading this book. And I'm very happy that I was able to get this book for free thanks to the giveaway. I thank my lucky stars that I was chosen to get a copy, esp since he is my favorite. I am so happy!!!

I am sad that this series has ended with Nick, but what a series it was! And the best thing about this series is that, these books are the type of books that you can reread over and over again, and not get tired of it. Which is what I plan on doing after this review.

Anyone who chooses to read this book please make sure you start with book One, Anyone but Rich, then book Two, Anyone but Cade. Before reading this one. You don't have to read the others, but it really gives you a better sense of history and feel of all the characters. And if you have read the books and you don't really want to read Nick's, because he really didn't stand out in the other books all to well.

Well take my advise when I say, It's always the quiet ones you have to look out for. Nick is very much as dominate and possessive as his older brothers. And just as loving and protective as them as well. What Nick wants he will make sure he get's, if you try to run he will give chase. And oh boy what a chase that would be. - Wink -

Out of the three friends Miranda has always appeared to be the one who is having it all both personally and professionally until it is gone and she is left picking up the pieces. The first thing on the agenda is a job and she is determined to wow at the interview until she finds out that the owner is none other than her nemesis and the man who broke her heart years ago.

Nick and Miranda were friends in school and he doesn’t know where it went wrong as she stopped talking to him and would have nothing to do with him. Now that they are working together he is determined to find out what happened but when the truth is revealed will this be their second chance or are they destined to end in heartbreak once again?

I enjoyed watching the relationship between Nick and Miranda unfold and it was great to catch up with the other characters that we know and love from this series as well.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the third book in the series, and I would recommend that you read them in order to get the full story. Three brothers return to their childhood town and the three now grown women who vowed to never have anything to do with them are still there... we have seen two fall already, but now the most put together, Miranda is the one who has to resist the charms of Nick.

In the beginning Nick really doesn't seem to have any charm at all, and he has no interest at all in copying his brothers into a serious relationship - or indeed any relationship. Miranda too is far too invested in restoring her good career record and even if that means being VP to Nick's CEO, she will do it. It is very entertaining as we watch on, knowing that somehow Penelope Bloom is going to get this whole situation resolved, however hard they fight it.

It was really good to see how the two couples are progressing in their lives, and we finally get to discover the reason why the oath was sworn in the first place. I loved how the situation went full circle by the end - it was immensely satisfying and left me thinking I would definitely reread this trilogy, and all in one go, to get the whole story in one go.

So we have the last King brother, Nick the quiet genius of the family the one who keeps Cade from hurting himself. I have been wondering about Nick and Miranda and why she had this hostility for him, besides hearing that he asked Kira out but no one knew that Miranda always had a crush on him. After all is said and done it was a misunderstanding, the letter that Miranda sent him explaining her love, was thought about having come from Kira. I say good bye to my King brothers, I still love Rich and Kira story the best and for some reason I love and Cade and Iris in the other brothers story better than their own..But atlast we say our Goodbye to the pact trio and to my beloved King brothers, and still can't stand their parents... Maybe we can get some short stories letting us know what happens with the crew in the future..

A light and fun read in the enemies to lovers/former friends trope, and a great addition to the "Anyone But" series. .
Nick has had feelings for Miranda, so strong that he sacrifices his own happiness. Miranda wants nothing to do with him after she had a crush on him, but he dated her friend instead! After 7 years, they cross paths again and start to clear the air.

Well written, solid plot, and just plain fun. Definitely recommend. I've enjoyed this entire series.

Nick is quite the smart***, “I don’t think *** steam is a symptom of jealousy, but okay. I was jealous..." Miranda has to reel her man in at times, “stop,” I whispered. “There’s a lot I have to show you, and if you start talking dirty, we’re going to end up in a janitor’s closet somewhere.” I liked this book, I liked Nick.

This will be a fairly quick review. I don't have too many thoughts on this book...

First, all of the characters in this series took on a personality change in this one, with the exception of Cade. He is the only character that seemed like the same character as in the previous two books. That was a bit weird for me. Things I would expect from the characters didn't come in this one.

I enjoyed the first part of the book, mostly. It was fun. I giggled some. Then the book just kind of nose dived from there. The drama was childish. The things that happened were pretty over the top from time to time. I just wanted to get to the end of the book so the book was would be over.

I'm in an overall like/dislike with this one. I am glad I read it. This author is a hit and miss for me. Sometimes she hits the nail on the head for me, sometimes she doesn't. Unfortunately, this one is the latter. That doesn't mean I will stop reading her. She does have a great imagination and can make me laugh.

That quote was the basis for these 3 books. While this one was my least favorite of the three, I still really enjoyed it.

Nick and Miranda were best friends in high school. She had a HUGE crush on him. And then he asked out Kira.

Seven years later, along with his brothers, they came back.

Now Miranda was working for Nick. Tensions build. Jealousy was had.

Second chance, forced proximity, workplace romance, billionaire romance.

Laughs were had in all three of these books. I truely enjoyed them all and was kinda sad for them to be over.

Anyone But Nick is the 3rd and final installment in the Anyone But series which focuses on 3 brothers and their life upon returning to their hometown and the girls they left behind. I've loved the series but I felt this book fell a little short of my expectations. I don't know if it was just my mood or what but I found I wasn't too bothered about this one. This book is Nick and Mirandas story and up untill now Miranda has been strong and moody, I felt like this book was focused on a totally different person. I found the story line OK and the best bits were Cade as usual. He definitely gives some very good comedy moments to the story. I did however enjoy the epilogue which tied the series together. Sadly this one did not live up to my expectations but was an OK read.

Krásné a roztomilé zakončení série.

This series is about three brothers who bullied three best friends and ended up leaving town after school only to show back up in their small town some years later and declare their love to each of them.

The overall idea is good but the actual stories… not a chance. These are some of the worst written stories as the storylines are nothing but a lost cause having multiple cringy moments throughout the whole book that just had me feeling embarrassed the entire time.

I don’t recommend these at all but they are free audio with KU so it passes the time if you can’t settle on something good 🙃

Absolutely loved this, have enjoyed each book in this series and I’m sad to see them come to a close and what a book for Miranda and Nick, it’s so sweet, funny and full of chemistry. I loved returning to the characters and look forward to reading more from Penelope as these three books were my first by Ms. bloom but won’t be my last. 2.5-3 Stars! I wasn't crazy about this book. It's the third in the series and I didn't read the first two books, maybe that's why I didn't really care for this one? It does have a few funny parts that made me lol! Other then that, I felt lost, like it was an inside joke that I wasn't in on.

Bloom saved the best for last! I loved this light and funny rom com. It's a playful spin on an enemies to lovers romance featuring two former friends who crushed on each other in high school but let insecurities pull them apart. While I liked Rich's serious personality and Cade's over the top humor, it's Nick who really stole the show with this series. He's a genuinely nice, kinda nerdy guy (and isn't a manwhore!) who has harbored feelings for Miranda for too long to let anything stand in the way of her happiness. I loved their chemistry and the funny but not outlandish feel of the story. Penelope Bloom hit it out of the rom com park with this one.

The story follows Miranda, the last woman standing in her group of friends. They all made a pact to steer clear of the King brothers, but her friends have since coupled up and left Miranda as the only one stewing about the past. She was friends with Nick in high school and had a crush on him for the longest time, but a misunderstanding led him to briefly date her friend instead, ruining their relationship. Seven years have passed, and Miranda's life seemed pretty great... up until recently. She just got out of a relationship, lost her job, and now finds herself working closely with the man she most wanted to avoid. As these two spend time together, they hash out old issues while remembering all the reasons they clicked so well in the past.

If you're looking for a light and easy read with plenty of humor, this is the book for you. There's nothing groundbreaking about the storyline, but it's executed well and will hold your attention from start to finish. Bloom excels when she's writing romantic comedies, knowing when to bring on the laughs while also building up the relationship. Now that the King brothers have all met their match, I'm excited to see what's next from this author. I received an ARC via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review of this funny book.

Anyone But Nick is the third book in the Anyone But series, and while it could be read as a stand alone, you’ll get more out of the characters by reading the books in order. Miranda has hated Nick for the past seven years, but now that her life is imploding around her, she has to work under him at her new job. Secrets will try to tear them apart, but what happens when their chemistry finally explodes? Will there be fireworks of love, or a path of destruction?

I was so looking forward to Miranda and Nick’s book since reading the first book in the series, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. The beginning was a lot more angsty than I was expecting, but both Miranda and Nick are smart and stubborn and tried to do the smart and best thing instead of just following their hearts. I loved when the truth came out one drunken night, and how the ending of the book all played out, though! So good! Miranda had such a high reputation and all these expectations set on her, that she didn’t know how to break free of them. I loved watching her bloom into her own person and accept all aspects of herself, the flawed especially. Nick is smart, collected, funny, puts Miranda above his own needs, but isn’t afraid to throw minor wrenches into her perfectionism. I love their banter, how their brain wavelengths match up, and I loved their passion! There’s some crazy drama that happens, but when Nick’s older brother is Cade, I mean... what can you expect? The ending of this book and series was pretty fabulous, too! I really enjoyed reading this book and as always, look forward to more from Ms. Bloom!

Okay, so I knew I loved Nick from the moment he hit the page in the first book (just like what happened with Rich and Cade). He has that quiet genius personality to him that really drags you in because it adds mystery to his whole persona. You never really know him as a reader until you get into his head. And same goes for Miranda! She has that whole stern and stubborn business lady personality on the outside, but once we got a peek into her brain, it felt like getting in touch with her human side. I hadn’t really know what to think of her in the first two books because I couldn’t get a grasp for her character. This book definitely helped with that.

Also, I don’t know what it says about me, but I really loved the whole petty revenge thing that was going on against Miranda’s ex in the book 😂😂 Not only was it really satisfying, it was also freaking hilarious (bonus points because Nick and Miranda both schemed the whole thing out together) 😏 In that sense, her ex was a little less of a nuisance, because he brought them both together in the best way 😌 And, yes, maybe I was sort of enjoying seeing Nick get jealous and Miranda riling him up 😂

And, okay, we need to talk about Cade and Iris 😂 I freaking love them. I love their snooping and how they were constantly keeping tabs on Nick and Miranda’s relationship status and basically playing matchmaker as a couple. It. Was. Gold. Also, it was also like having insiders in the book who were dead-set on getting the two together as much as any reader would be 😂😂 They behaved exactly as we readers would if someone dropped us into the book!

Anyone But Nick by Penelope Bloom is book Three in the Anyone But.... Series. This is the story of Nick and Miranda. I have read the previous book that are each about one of the King Brothers but I do feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. But I have been enjoying them in order so I would always recommend that. Nick is the last King Brother standing and Miranda is the last friends standing in her group. Miranda and her friends had sworn off the King Brothers but each friend has fallen for a King Brother except Miranda. Miranda and Nick at one time where friends but a misunderstanding pulled them apart and other things added to them being pulled further apart. Miranda had went on to do good but here recently things are off the rails. Then she is suppose to work with Nick which puts them back in each others orbit. I have really enjoyed this series so I was excited to read this book. Loved it.

I recieved a digital copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and given freely.

So I picked this up because it sounded fun and I had no idea that it was thrid in a series. As much as it would be cool to have read the others it wasn't necessary at all we still got to know the other characters despite them not being major characters.

I loved the dual points of view. It makes it really easy to get into both minds and I loved the back and forth between them their chemistry is there right from the start.

I enjoyed reading about the town/valley they live in but I'd have loved more detail and more background - I guess that ces in the other books - the ending felt a little rushed which I disliked but I still found the book really enjoyable. The prank was rhe funniest thing ever
