Contos is the book published in 1881 by Fialho d'Almeida when he was 24 years old; in it, he brought together thirteen short stories, which he preceded by a dedication to Camilo Castelo Branco. Between admiration for Camilo and the humility of underestimating what he would publish, the Author wrote: «[…] I cannot deny admiration to men of his size […] I ask you to accept the dedication of this mediocre book […].» Between the first and the last of the stories, the reader will feel transported to a variety of themes and will confirm Fialho de Almeida's imagination and narrative ability.
