3.5 ⭐️ 5 🌶️
I have so many thoughts and feelings about this book it’s hard to put it all into focus, but allow me to try.
The story - an erotic romance-thriller - phenomenal. Meet Dr. Marcus Saint-Claude, our dark and mysterious MMC with an incredibly dark past and questionable psychiatric methods. And Alison Edwards, our equally traumatized FMC who is much more complex than first impressions reveal. Kralevic and Andrews weave the character’s stories together in a complex tale of revenge, loss, and lust that leaves you turning each page faster and faster to unravel the web.
I saw so many influences that went into this book to create this unique story. Picture a serial killer fan-fic in the best way possible. If you like the following then you are sure to like this book:
•Dexter
•Harley Quinn/Joker dynamics
•Possessive MMCs
•Fast-paced drama/action
•Books by Katee Robert
•Dark (DARK) romance (lots of trigger warnings pals)
Keep in mind, this book is DARK. One of the darkest, most messed up (in the best way) stories I’ve read in a long time. Trigger warnings don’t play. Read them and proceed with caution.
The darkness of the book isn’t why I rated it how I did though. Let’s get down to brass tacks on why I couldn’t give this story 5 stars - personal preference. It all comes down to writing style for me and that is just a personal opinion. It’s incredibly fast paced and there was quite a few events, people, and details I wanted more of, and other instances where I felt I was given too much information as a reader and wasn’t given much chance to speculate or be surprised by certain twists. The story was SO GOOD I felt a little disappointed in the story-structure during those moments; but know that again this is personal preference and does not reflect on the storyline itself. If you like any of the above topics, and are looking for an action-packed, fast-paced, easy read, you will eat 👏🏻 this 👏🏻 up 👏🏻

•“The smile was what made him shiver; the confidence that exuded from her made him want her more.”
