All Lyra Kye wants is a relaxing vacation on a galaxy cruise before her life changes forever. What she doesn't expect is for her cheap cruise ship to literally explode, nor does she expect to crash-land on an alien jungle planet wedged inside a tiny life pod and wearing an even tinier red bikini.
And she certainly doesn't expect a hot Luxirian to come to her rescue.
After a successful career as a builder on his home planet of Luxiria, all Droxan wants is to be left alone. Hence why he’d purchased an entire planet—to keep people away. Including one beautiful human female who hurtles straight into his peace and quiet, disrupting everything he’s worked so hard to build, and tempting him beyond distraction.
Quadrant patrol is weeks away from rescuing her and getting her off his planet. So when Droxan’s Instinct roars to life, recognizing Lyra as his fated mate, he knows he’s in deep trouble…especially when their intense attraction becomes harder to fight with every passing second.
Rescued by the Luxirian is a novella that was originally published in 2022 in Claimed Among the A Sci-Fi Romance Charity Anthology. This new edition has been re-edited and includes a never-before-seen bonus epilogue!
Zoey Draven has been writing stories for as long as she can remember. Her love affair with the romance genre started with her grandmother's old Harlequin paperbacks and has continued ever since. As a Top 100 Amazon bestselling author, now she gets to write the happily-ever-afters—with a cosmic, otherworldly twist, of course!
When she's not writing, she's probably drinking one too many cups of coffee, hiking in the redwoods, or spending time with her family.

This is great if you want a spicy, alien, and fated mate story. I’ve been in a weird funk lately, so although normally I’d be all over this, I just wasn’t really feeling it.
I think I’m just burned out on stories that have lust at the forefront of everything, but in this case, just replace the word lust with mating instinct. I really liked the cute moments in between them being horny all the time. I wish there would’ve been more of that.
I absolutely loved this. Crashed on an alien planet, adorable/grumpy hunky alien male and human female, fated mates, insta all the things. It was just long enough and perfect for my mood today. I'll be on to the other Luxirians very soon! Happy reading!!
A sweet and spicy fated mates Sci-fi romance! Droxan is a solitary man and likes his life on his planet. Until Lyra lands near his home and he realizes they’re fated.
Lyra and Droxan have instant chemistry and their short love story is everything I’ve come to love in Draven’s stories.
It's a novella, and it's pretty straightforward. Lyra crash-landed because of a faulty pod on Droxan's planet, and the moment he saw her, he realized she's his mate. They both felt the connection, even though she couldn't understand it in the beginning because she's human. They spent a day or two denying their attraction, but it eventually won out. They decided to be honest with each other: she shared her plans to have a baby, which is why she is traveling, and he revealed their mating bond. Since then, everything's been pretty much smooth sailing until they get to their HEA.
“It feels like I’ve known you since before I even came into this universe.” “A soul bond,” he told me..”
BE STILL MY HEART!!! Back with a Luxirian story. Loved everything about the original series. This book is set in the future after human women helped repopulate Luxiria. Droxan has chosen a solitary life on Ullima, an out of the way planet. Lyra is on a space cruise as a last hurrah before attempting an artificial insemination pregnancy. She crash lands on his planet in an escape pod when the cruise goes sideways. He recognizes almost immediately that she is the fated mate for him and somehow I don’t think Lyra will need an artificial anything to get pregnant😉. In many ways they are similar - hardworking yet ultimately alone; Lyra an orphan and Droxan wanted by his family for the money and prestige he could provide. Will they find a way to be together? Get ready for serious good feels and steamy times!!
“Would she want that? Would she like that? Would she moan as I sank into her, wet and slick and ready for me? Would she want me as crazed as she made me or would I have to gentle my touch?”
-This is a short, sweet, and spicy novella set adjacent to the Luxirian series by Zoey Draven. I first read this story back in 2022, but since she re-released it I wanted to go back and visit it again.
-The premise is very simple: Lyra crash lands on a planet owned by its single inhabitant, Droxan, and they instantly fall for each other. Yeah, this is an instalove story, sprinkled with the fated mate trope, but my gosh I ate. It. UP.
-This is such a fun story to read in between books, or if you need something more lighthearted. There’s not a ton of angst, and all obstacles are solved pretty fast. It definitely scratches that itch of reading a fairly lighthearted story on the shorter side, but full of smut.
-Once Lyra and Droxan kiss, it’s ON. They can’t keep their hands off each other, and the more they touch each other the more they want to continue.
-You don’t need to read any of Zoey’s other books in order to enjoy this story, even the Luxiria series. She does a good job conveying to readers the important details of who Luxirians are, the world Lyra lives in, and what their life looks like going forward as a couple.
-I 100% recommend this book, it’s such a fantastic short read.
Sometimes I like a simple love story with no overwhelming bad guys or evil forces about to wreck everything. Just two people working through their pasts to come together. She is an ordinary human girl moving through an ordinary life,
“Everything about my life was orderly. I had a routine. There were no surprises. And I was happy because everything I’d worked so hard to build was finally going to come to fruition.”
Of course, there's nothing ordinary about him but he loves her just the same. But I kind of think extraordinary people need some ordinary in their lives to keep them grounded. She's not interested in his money or power, just him and some babies.
“To know that this male who I’d been shamelessly flirting with for the better part of the day was someone important. And me? I was just an orphan human girl from Wero. Who only drank half a glass of wine on weeknights and who got excited when the traveling vegetable vendor stopped in at the colony for market day.”
Did I think that I could go against fate? My destiny? Nix. She was my destiny.
4 stars
This quick and steamy novella was the perfect introduction to Zoey Draven! Her writing was easy-to-follow, while her world-building was wonderous. I loved Droxan and Lyra together. Droxan didn't want a mate and was enjoying his simple life when Lyra literally crashed into his peaceful existence and forced him to acknowledge what life with his mate could be life. Lyra thought her life plan was ruined when her pod crashed on Droxan's desolate planet, but fate is definitely at work when they are brought together. Yes, this story was filled of yummy smut, but the connection and sense of belonging between these two mates was so brilliant. I enjoyed this novella and look forward to reading Zoey's other books🖤
It was ok but I am used to Zoey Draven's books having the characters and plot more developed with emotions that grips you but this one did not. I loved the Luxirian series and their world and I felt sad and let down by this future version of them which occurs about 7 generations later (MMC's great-great-great grandmother was human) because they are no longer a warrior society and for some reason I did not get that same intensity of the MMC as a Luxirian as in the original series. Unfortunately this book just did not meet the mark and seemed more sex driven then plot driven which I know Zoey Draven is capable of delivering.
Her Brides of the Kylorr Series is AMAZING and delivers not only the hot, sexy scenes we love in her books but the emotions and "glued to the pages" intensity in the storylines that I cannot wait till book 3 in the series "Hunger In His Blood" is released in April 2025.
What to expect: ✨ fated mates ✨ crash landing on planet ✨ possessive MMC ✨ fertility treatments ✨ pregnancy discussions (only pregnant in the epilogue) ✨ recluse, moody MMC ✨ quick, short sci-fi romance ✨ very little plot ✨ spice level: 🌶️🌶️

This book was just a good time 🥰 the story was short and sweet. No real plot outside of cozy, lovey vibes.
The heaviest theme was talk about fertility treatments for pregnancy. Even then, it was mentioned as an option that Lyra was thinking about. I thought this topic was discussed and presented very well.
Side note: I’ve come to realize Zoey Draven will always have a pregnancy in the story. Not a huge fan of that trope but she does it in a way that seems natural and mature. It’s not a pivotal plot point but more a next step for the couple.
Rescued by the Luxirian is a novella that was originally published in the anthology entitled Claimed Among the Stars. This is Droxan and Lyra’s story.
Lyra is a human traveling on a galaxy cruise that experiences mechanical issues. She’s able to safely get off the ship, but her escape pod crashes on Luxiria which is a private planet owned by Droxan. He moved there to escape people and enjoy his time alone.
Droxan’s instinct recognizes his mate the moment he sets eyes on Lyra. He plans on trying to ignore it, but soon his protectiveness kicks in and Droxan realizes how lonely he’s been. Lyra is a sweetheart and finds herself strangely drawn to the kind alien.
This was a sweet and easy read. I enjoy the books by this author and like the escape into the sci-fi world she has created.
So this is an off shoot of Zoey's Warriors of Luxiria series.
Which that series started strong but quickly got redundant. I was bored after book 4 in an 8 book series. After reading reviews of the remaining books in the series - I knew there was no point of continuing on.
However this was great because we didn't have to do the whole world building thing AND it was a departure from the formula of the OG series.
This was short and sweet. Both MCs were into each other from the jump but it still had a nice build. No drama, HEA, pregnancy, over the top alpha male energy and flirty heroine, great chemistry.
Really no notes for a book under a 150 pages. I consider this a win!
I’m a big fan of Zoey Draven and usually love her brand of alien romance—intense, emotional, and steamy in all the right ways. Unfortunately, this one just didn’t land for me. The characters felt a little flat, the romance lacked the spark I’ve come to expect, and the story didn’t pull me in the way her other books have. It wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t have the energy or tension that makes her writing so addictive.
I’ll definitely keep reading Draven’s work, but Rescued by the Luxirian won’t be one I revisit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ HEA? yes 3rd act break-up? no 🌶🌶/5
This was real cute for a short little novella! 3.5/5 stars! I loved the warriors of Luxiria series by Zoey Draven and this was such a nice little topper to the ending of the series. I think you could really read this whenever it is definitely its own stand alone novella. It was short sweet and spicy!
I'd say this book was actually the first time I didn't mind it being surrounded by a pregnancy trope since it was not a surprise I didn't mind it, I knew going in that its not going to be my favorite premise but really you can't read alien/sci-fi romances without that involved. Overall if you like Zoey Draven's stories I would say add this one to your list.
Rescued by the Luxirian features Lyra, human and Droxan, alien. When Lyra crashes on Droxan’s planet, he realizes immediately that they are fated mates. They are drawn together extremely quickly and are immediately in love and planning their future.
This was cute, short and fast paced. I love a novella and an alien novella on top of that is just delightful. It has all the beats of a fated mate alien romance and I just love them!
This was a sweet novella. I enjoyed it as I have every other Zoey Draven book I’ve read. Lyra crash lands on a planet owned by Droxen, a lone Luxirian male, whose Instinct (fated mate) wakes upon seeing her. The wasn’t complex or difficult to follow. The conflict and ensuing story was simple and superficial. There wasn’t anything surprising or complex. Just a sweet read with a happily ever after.
The very first series about the Luxirians was my introduction to Alien/Human relationships, and will remain one of my favourites. This is set in the future, 3 or 4 generations later, when Lyra crash lands on a planet that has only one occupant. This was a truly sweet, romantic story, with little angst, both wanted each other. A thoroughly enjoyable short story.
Unfortunately, this was incredibly mid. I'm used to Zoey Draven writing a beautiful, emotional romance. I love her fated mates stories. But this was fated mates that was only lust-driven with minimal character work building the romance. There were some sweet mentions of the caretaking instinct of fated mates. While this was spicy, I wanted more - especially because I know Zoey Draven is capable of more.
Fluffy and smutty, short and sweet. What more could I ask for? I loved it.
Although not as complex or long as other of Draven’s works, I can still have equal appreciation for this novella. However if you’re looking for a Draven storyline with ultra world building and angsty romance, it won’t be here.
Still, this book left me daydreaming about crash landing onto a private planet with a super hot, broody, loving alien and waving the mundane life of being an earth woman away.
An insta-love, spicy novella. For some reason I never really got into the Luxurians and this novella was the same. It was fine, but didn’t pull me in like some of her other books do. This one was not for me but if you like insta-love, lots of spice and beautiful scenery descriptions this may be for you.
One Zoey Draven novella is better than fifty Kindle Unlimited multi-volume sagas by lesser writers. I just loved the intelligence and emotions of these two characters, and seeing how the Luxirian world had developed since the original series. I’m so ready for a new Zoey Draven series to save me from all the shallow, boring, badly written, and poorly punctuated trash out there. Sigh.
The luxarians were one of my first alien series that I read way back when I started reading more and I have always referred back to them. Finding this little future of there’s was so sweet and heartwarming. It was like reading it for the first time but with new and exciting elements! The only thing better would be a spin off full series based on Ullima!
Really loved it. I have finished the other Luxirians and i liked this one more because there was no artificial delay, just a liiiitlebit but considering the decision she had to make, it was understandable. Im not a huge fan of every single story having a baby in it but i can look past it and still love the happy endings.
