The start to the Brutal Empire hang on and you might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified possessive, oh so gorgeous, brooding all three makings of a story consisting with the three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, darkness, secrets revealed, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love somewhere along the way! Caroline is sweet extremely intelligent a skilled hacker just took a job that lands her into a lot of hot water it was to find out information on her best friend’s father the Pakhan nor did she know that it would nearly cost her life especially after they made her identity known sending a group of thugs to kill her and getting away barely running to the only man she knew who could protect her the Pakhan her friend’s father. Vadim sexy as all get out Pakhan isn’t a nice man by any means, he isn’t a man you want on your radar but he is a man you want on your side, he is ruthless, dangerous on a good day, deadly every day hesitant when his daughters best friend comes to him for help but what surprises him is how much information she dug up about him on the dark web about him, as well as a traitor that is close to home and how beautiful his little hacker really is since he last saw her. The magnetic pull between them is hard to ignore, the more time they spend with and around each other the stronger the pull grows between them. Also, the traitor tries to take her out since she is the one who can prove he is behind the plot on the boss but will he be there to protect her, will they find out who the traitor is, will they be honest about their feelings, how will her friend feel about it all, and can they find happiness in a situation that started out on the wrong foot?

The book had promise but it just fell flat. The FMC was written like she was a teenager instead of an adult. The over emphasis on the thoughts and feelings really took away from the action. I didn't finish the book, the 33% that I read was laborious and mood killing.

She was copying information from important people that the Don met with. Caroline was giddy with excitement on the job and as the copied the information a name that she recognized pop up Vadim Chernoff who was most ruthless Russian Bratva Pakhan of New York of Crime Syndicate in the country. But he was also her best friend's dad. She hadn't seen Vadim in years but she remembered that he was always nice to her, and her best friend Sofiya love unconditionally. Sure he's vicious man in his day job and she knows that he's dangerous. As the copied the files there was enough information there that her gut told her that Vadim had a target on his back that was ready to explode. As she tries to download the file to see who was the perpetrator a different firewall prevent her. She transferred five hundred thousand dollars from an account that very few people supposedly paid attention to then the screen went completely black. She had been discovered, and not long after she saw two cars pull up to her building fast. She knew that she was in danger and had to leave unless she was going to die. With dangerous men on her tail who's trying to kill her the only person who she could turn to was Vadim Chernoff, the Russian pakhan and her best friends dad.
She showed up at his doorstep in the middle of night asking for his help. Vadim didn't recognize her with pink hair and sleek body because she was chubby when she was younger. It wasn't until she spoke and ask him if he didn't remember her that he caught on to the voice. Everyone knows that Vadim is unforgiving, ruthless, dangerous, vicious and yet someone tried to assassin him a couple of months ago outside of his favorite restaurant. He took three bullets and was in hospital for three weeks and now he walks with a limp. When Caroline was doing her job on the Nostra Costa mafia for Joshua she found out that it was Stefano Marino who tried to assassinate him. Vadim had been trying to figure that out for months and believed that it was the Italians but didn't have any proof. When she tells him that she had the proof on a jump drive. He turned into the man that she remembered anytime Sofiya had done something wrong. He tells her that he would help her but they're consequences for her bad decisions and anytime that she cause significant danger to herself and her future it deserves punishment which totally confuses her.
He tells her that he was going to give her a spanking which takes aback because her father never given her corporal punishment before. Caroline had always been attracted to Vadim when she was younger and has been her fantasy crush from as long as she could remembered. Vadim couldn't believe the beautiful woman that she had become and ge was intensely attracted and possessive of her. But he doesn't want to cross the line because she was his daughters beat friend. Caroline wants to warn her handler that the job was a bus but Vadim is not too sure if he betrayed her. The two set out to find out who's trying to kill her and to find her handler and along the way the couldn't help but to succumb to their attraction which caused a little problem with her friendship but they quickly resolve it. Caroline refused to follow Vadim rules and repeatedly almost gotten herself kill but they figured everything out by working together and eventually got they HEA. They were a lot of punishment/discipline that was dealt out of her behavior and intense rough sex because of their attraction. Vadim had never felt like that about another woman since the death of his wife years ago. This book demands to be read and screamed escape from the everyday life and gave that something extra that I was looking for.

The characters are interesting, alluring and heartwarming.
Needing help from her best friend’s father was all Caroline thought she wanted, falling for him was everything she ever needed. Vadim promised to protect Caroline but soon realized that she awakened a need he long thought buried.
The undeniable attraction and connection shared between these characters is amusing, highly sensual and heart-gripping. The sexy times are HOT.

This was an intriguing and somewhat unique story. A page turner with excitement, heat, danger and some mystery. Loved it. (Note: This story actually ends about the 81% mark (c. Pg 389). The rest is blurbs from other books.)
The MMC is a widowed Pakhan with two grown daughters. He has numerous legitimate businesses, but is not above using bribery, threats or payoffs to get what he wants, needs. He is Russian mafia, an alpha who expects to be obeyed. He blames himself, the life he lives for his wifes death and has shied away from love or emotional entaglements since then, believing he doesn't deserve it.
The MFC is the only child of wealthy parents for whom she was never good enough. She's not the son her father wanted...a daughter is not capable of taking over his business and runnng it successfully. A daughter is only good to groom as a trophy wife and marry off to a man capable of running the family business. Her intelligence and accomplishments were never recognized and she was always being criticized. Growing up, her only joy was her two best friends who lived next door...the daughters of the Russian Pakhan. So it's no wonder after graduating college she rebelled and left home, pink hair and all, wanting nothing to do with her parents.
Now, living in a small apartment she survives by supplementing her income doing data hacking jobs. A fellow hacker friend who tosses her jobs now and then, gives her one without telling her who it's for. It requires her to hack into accounts rarely used so sheshouldn't be detected...only she is, and what she discovers lets her know she's in big danger. She barely escapes her apt. She knows she needs someone bigger and badder if she wants to stay alive and that's the father of her old best friends who she hasn't seen in two years. He'll protect her, with conditions, but first she must accept her punishment for putting herserlf in danger. What ensues is a back and forth road to love and the real criminal culprits getting their just desserts in the end! I loved the push and pull between them, how she challenged him and brought him back to life. 4.75 stars

Riveting read, dark and crime filled with loyalty and family as a major deciding factors
Caroline had always known that she was in a dangerous career but she never would have believed that her handler would have out her onto a job that would cost her life. Then there was the fact that the information and who it related to was almost a second family to her as she had known the daughter and had been best friends for years and she had to make a major decision.

What a great work of art this story is it had my interest all the time I couldn’t get enough it’s fantastic I’m so many ways! It’s full of action packed, so much suspenseful moments I was so there at the edge of my seat yelling at my phone wanting the answers already have who and why. The forbidden between the two main characters the Constant trying to fight their attraction was hot on it’s own but had in the other steamy scenes Piper put in this excellent exciting book you’ll want ice cream alongside where you’re reading or listening to this book. Not to mention the crazy dark dangerous things the independent sassy smart leading lady gets herself into the bad guys are definitely determined! I love how she never gave up trying to help solve the mysterious going down in front of her own life along with keeping the hottie mafia man on his toes teaching him not everything is going to go down the way he orders to those around him. :) loving for a mystery with lots of action, betrayal, unpredictable, surprises, conflict with lots of hot funny moments with the characters, secrets, self learning and a happy ending you’re love this book! It starts another epic adventure dark theme series with this amazing author who is great at writing books that are right up my alley in what I love to read about! :)

Caroline & Vadim
Eine Mafia Geschichte die anders war als ich erwartet hatte. Sie hat eine wechselnden Erzählperspektive beider Protagonisten und hat einen leichten Schreibstil.
Leider war das Buch auch sehr langatmig und chaotisch.... Außerdem haben einige Dialoge nicht wirklich zum Gespräch oder der Szene gepasst.
Die Idee war interessant, mit Caroline die eine Hackerin sein soll und wie sie auf bestimmte Informationen gestoßen ist die dunkle Geheimnisse gelüftet und somit viele Ereignisse ausgelöst hatte. Leider fand ich es schade das man Caroline immer weiter in eine naive Rolle gedrängt hat. Denn meiner Meinung nach war sie keineswegs naiv oder leichtgläubig, sondern wusste genau was sie tat und was auf dem Spiel stand.
Der Konflikt mit ihren beiden Freundinnen, die zufällig die Töchter von Vadim waren fand ich sehr gut gemacht und durchaus spannend als auch amüsant. Allerdings verstand ich nicht wieso Sofya auf ihre beste Freundin Caroline böse war, obwohl sie wusste das Caroline und Vadim etwas miteinander hatten. Das ergab für mich keinen Sinn.
Vadim als Charakter war gut gemacht und perfekt für seine Rolle als Mafiaboss. Er war stark, klug, besitzergreifend, beschützerisch und doch liebevoll und fürsorglich.
Allerdings konnte ich keine Emotionen oder Gefühle spüren und fand die Geschichte eher unterkühlt und unnötig in die Länge gezogen.

Caroline is in big trouble. The mob is out to get her for her hacking and she can think of only one man that might be able to protect her, Vadim Chernoff. Vadim is a man you do not mess with. His enemy got the best of him once but he isn’t going to let that stop him. I love this one. Caroline is no dummy and she is defiantly a fighter. Granted she has a target on her but she doesn’t want to shrink and hide. She wants to know who is after her and have it stopped for go. Vadim on the other hand, yes wants to protect her but also is finding it hard to stay away too. She tempts him at ever turn. He’s known her all her life and is his daughter’s BFF. THAT is what really holds him back. When they come together it is explosive. But then it’s like pouring water on a fire. That drove me nuts. Then you have the daughter’s having to come to grips with it. Sofya and Daniella are daddy’s girls but it takes a bit to make them understand that Caroline makes their dad happy. It is amazing how much one bit of information just explodes into something big. There were so many twists and turns. I loved it. I wonder who’s story is next.

Caroline Randall has been Sofiya Chernoff's best friend since elementary school, but she's all grown up now and works as a software assistant because she refuses to work for her father. That's not her only job; she also works as a hacker infiltrating some dangerous people accounts for information. Trouble is, she gets caught out on one of her assignments and goes to the one person she thinks can help her, as he is one of the people named as a target - Sofiya's dad, Vadim. Whilst he hasn't changed that much, she has and Vadim finds himself attracted to her, which he find troubling given he's known her as his daughter's friend. What is also troubling is that she finds herself attracted to him.
They work together to find out who wants to do Vadim, as well as others, harm and find that you need to be careful who you trust, those closest to you do not always have your best interests at heart.
As well as this they have to deal with their growing attraction which doesn't just affect them, will it ruin Caroline's friendship with Sofiya?
An easy read which kept me engaged from beginning to end.

The Pakhan is a dark Russian Mafia romance story. This book is the first story in the Brutal Empire series. The Pakhan follows the story of Caroline and Vadim. When I first read the overview for The Pakhan, I became captivated by the aspect of the story. I knew that I had to get my hands on this book, and I'm happy to say that this book did NOT disappoint me in anyway whatsoever. I absolutely enjoy reading Caroline and Vadim's story, and I couldn't get enough of their amazing story. Author Piper Stone is quite amazing at storytelling and she has amazing writing skills, and each book that I have read by Piper Stone has continued to surprise me with fantastic storylines, amazing characters, plots, and outcomes. The Pakhan is an absolutely amazing book, and I think its a fantastic addition to the mafia romance genre. I most definitely would encourage other readers to checkout this book and give it a read. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next from Author Piper Stone.

Age gap dark mafia romance where age doesn’t matter in true love.

Vadim is also the father of her two best friends. Her goal was never for anyone to happen between her friend’s dad but the attraction between those two was off the charts. With her life on the line and trying to help find her handler put her in more danger. Her friend’s reaction to learning their father and best friend was a couple has some drawback but worked it out. Piper Stone has so many diverse stories that they are never the same. She is an amazing author and one of my favorite. I recommend reading The Pakhan, you will not be disappointed.

Big, big age gap…
This was a fun little read and I did like it. The characters were very entertaining and I enjoyed the plot too. My only real complaint, and it’s a me thing, is that he is truly old enough to be her father. He is in fact the father of her best friend. That’s too much of an age gap for me, personally.
In spite of that, I really loved the ML. He had a few issues to work through, and it was really good to see him becoming a better man, even at his age. And he was so intelligent that I really enjoyed seeing the plans unfold. Yes it’s the author who’s really coming up with this stuff, but it was fun to watch this man outsmart the bad guys.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how much I loved this cover. Those eyes… wow.
I rarely award five stars anymore, but this is a solid four star read. It’s good.

Another great story by Ms.Stone!
I have always enjoyed Ms Stone's stories and have a hard time waiting for a new one to come out,it's like waiting for your birthday and or Christmas all the time.Caroline was a hacker doing what she wanted and on her own terms.But one day she got into a file she shouldn't have and now she has to go into hiding to protect herself and she needs to ask for help against her better judgment and it might save his life too,her best friend 's father Vadim! This story is dark,intense and it doesn't lack for action either!It goes from Caroline being a hacker to being almost killed two or three times,to finding out who is on the list who wants to start a mob war.This story does have a happy ending and no mob war!
