But when Mara realizes her co-writer has been slipping in her own username into the story, the lines between fiction and reality blur. One decision after another leads her to meet the enigmatic Damian in person, and their intense connection pulls her deeper into a world of confusion and desire.

As their story takes a darker turn, Mara starts to fear that life imitating art may not be as thrilling as she once thought. A darkly decadent read with an ending that’s haunting me. Two writers anonymously pair up online to write a dark romance and the MMC is almost (just as?) dark as the character he’s writing. FMC asserts her boundaries both in co-writing their romance novel and in real life while also unlocking the parts of herself that she’s been too scared to explore.

Beware dear reader, he’s a walking red flag painted in green. But the writing and characters are so compelling, I couldn’t put this down (we aren’t going to talk about how late I stayed up reading) and that’s the whole point. Check your morals at the door.

This is a romantic thriller that’s on that knife’s edge with dark romance.

It's a book about books, it represents all our book girlies and our obsession for fictional characters and the book world. Those weekly book clubs, simping our fictional men, desire to write our own stories it's all sunshiny and bright but what if a dark morally grey character enters your real life. Would you Love him just like you love your dark romance MMCs or would you run away. Although the past of the MMC is not discussed much in this book and I have to maybe wait for the next book to know because the story these two are cooking in the book has three books and yes it is based on their characters more or less, so there is a lot to explore their stories and past.
.
I literally imagined sunshine vibes and bright vibrant colours when reading her POV and dark grey aesthetics for him. The writer did a fantastic job in describing two separate worlds.
.
I would have given it a five star for the first half but the second has become more smut and less plot. I mean it's the plot of their book that is described but yeah it's all his desires about her that he expressed through the plot they are writing. I mean I am up for a dark open romance with smut but the plot should be plotting too, but that's exactly what the writer wants to portray cause at the end the FMC expresses the same, still it felt a little stretchy and too much for me. But if you want a good softcore -to-dark romance transition kinda book this is it for you.

I just finished this book and I can tell you that if you are looking for a romantic novel full of suspense and mystery, you should read Obsession Book Club. This novel is full of intrigue and captivates you completely from start to finish. Definitely, you don't want to stop reading it and you want to advance in this mysterious story where the main characters immerse themselves in an exciting but unknown game that becomes dangerous as they get confused between each other. The narrative of this novel explores the limits of obsession, desire and the dangers of letting oneself be carried away by the fantasy of reality. I definitely recommend this book, it is intense and leaves the reader wanting to know more.

Amazing and very entretained book

Passion, mystery, suspense and romance would perfectly define this amazing book! I give it 5 out of 5 stars!!! Undoubtedly, Skye made a great job with this captivating story because it has it all!
I liked how he developed the plot and the well described characters with their emotions and feelings at the point where I felt I was part of the story and I knew them from before.
I really liked how the author developed the story through the characters’ points of view in every chapter. It helped understanding both Mara and Damian’s feelings and also gave some spicy to the plot because the reader had both perspectives towards the situations. In conclusion: an amazing book!!

A mesmerising story
"Obsession Book Club” is a romantic and exciting novel penned by Paige Skye.
Mara is very fond of reading and participating in forums where she can speak her voice about the novel they discuss. This time, she comes across a discussion of a title that takes her to a thorough, spicy, deep talk with a man called Damian. One word, one touch... and finally, they connect in body and soul. There’s much more to discover in this story.
What a fascinating and page-turning story! The situations are so well-developed that readers will feel immersed in this fusion of fiction and reality that is full of danger and romance. I really liked this twisted plot and I recommend it without a doubt.

OUTSTANDING…

First thing first.
Obsession Book Club is totally and UTTERLY outstandingly written. From the beginning of this book you’re given a front row seat on a VERY intense roller coaster ride.

Mara and Damian has a relationship that will have you sleeping the lights on. And not to mention, they have an amazingly hot chemistry.

I have to say…This is the first time I’ve ever read anything from this author. HOWEVER… I’m so intrigued, eager and curious to see more of this storyline. And I’m DEFINITELY looking forward to seeing more. I’m bringing some snacks next time…lol…

Any opinions, recommendations, or suggestions expressed within this review are solely and uniquely made by me. I originally voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book via Bsprout.

This novel is quite interesting; it keeps the reader on a hook right until the end. What started as a way of writing erotic romance novels for her, ended up becoming one of the worst decisions she could ever make. Mara starts to collaborate with someone online and it quickly escalates to a dangerous path. Overall, I enjoyed the story, it has a strong structure and the details make it more vivid as you read. The characters are interesting, they might need a bit more development but they end up mixing quite well and I had fun with it.

A mix of romance with suspense that can transport you easily to this thriller! Great read.

quick dark romance

Girrrlllllll… this is a book about books. If you’re into quick reads and dark romance then this is the read for you!

I love how the FMC is exploring her desires but still setting boundaries and doing her VERY best to stand by them. The MMC is problematic but in the best way? I couldn’t tell if I wanted to hate or love him but in the end..love always wins right?

The ending has me so frustrated! What am I supposed to do with that information? Major cliffhanger !!! Is there a book 2?

So so good

I’m new to this author, but boy oh boy am I happy to have come across this book. I loved everything about this book. Damian and Mara were matched well. His darkness and acceptance of it kept the book interesting. No matter how much she resisted she couldn’t get away from his pull. And the spice was top tier. The ending said all that needed to be said. I cannot wait to read more from Ms. Skye.

Holy cow, what did I just read?!

And I mean that in the best way. This story had me hooked from the beginning. The darkness in Damien, how he pushes and brings out the same, to some extent, in Mara, was beautifully written. Though I would love to know the secrets of his past, the NOT knowing is just as thrilling. His darkness is hinted at without being in your face. I highly recommend if you love a good, spicy, dark romance.

Wow that was way better than I expected! I honestly just wish it was a full length novel! Really good character building and the story was so good, I think it was just really fast paced because its quite short but it wasn't too fast paced luckily.

Overall, I found the book to be lacking in character development and depth. The rushed plot and short length did not allow for a proper exploration of both characters, making it hard for me to fully connect with them. While it was an okay read, it took some time for me to become invested in the story.

Obsession Book Club

This story starts out with two unknown people hooking up to write a book. Obsession Book Club was an interesting read with a little suspense. But the book still left me wondering about Damian past.

Wow, I couldn't put this book down! Such a gripping dark romance, I just wish it lasted longer.

The authors storytelling and descriptions of their emotions was so clear, even when switching POVs which is usually hard to do right. I felt right in the middle of both their feelings and emotions. It's not a genre I would normally pick up, but this story had me gripped from the start.

I enjoyed the storyline of the book, and it definitely fits the dark romance genre perfectly.

In a clever nod to book lovers who live vicariously through their characters, Paige Skye delivers an excellent romance with deliciously dark overtones. Aspiring writer Mara is a faithful member of a book club. While the group tends to read books in the dark romance genre, Mara appears to be light-hearted and genuinely nice. When she connects with a fellow budding writer on a collaborative website, he seems to be the perfect counter point to her writing; she can supply the bright romantic notes while he will bring the dark elements of violence and dominance, an amazing coincidence, right? In Damian, Ms. Skye has created one of the most complex main characters I have ever encountered. He is achingly sweet, socially awkward while managing OCD, but readers are uncertain if he is writing from actual experience or his imagination! Strong but slightly twisted and morally gray, Mara and Damian fit together perfectly. I immensely enjoyed this story and loved that readers are left pondering Damian, did he or didn’t he and is he or isn’t he? Oh well, Mara is happy!
