I enjoyed this one, I was a little worried about Allie going away, but it was actually a breath of fresh air. though like Allie I missed the others by the end of it, though Hannah really grew on me so hopefully we see her again.
I liked the plot of this one more than the last.
Oh, and our new character Ethan, my my am I curious about him and ngl I'm wondering if he's a possible love interest, now there has been no hint of romance so far and I'm not expecting any and I honestly don't know if there will be any, but my radar is tingling.
The mystery with Allie's mother is building and I have some theories and some of them I hope it's not it, but we'll have to wait and see.
I just want to say my love for the food in these books, it makes me hungry and I'm writing down food I want to try now lol
And once again Allie's Grandma's land is a dream come true and I would LOVE to live somewhere like it, genuinely a goal in life. Just gardening and caring for the land, growing my own food, a dream.
Onto the next book, the synopsis sounds intriguing!
The Candidate is the third book in the Allie Bishop FBI Mystery Thrillers by Eva Sparks - and again, with this series I was plunged into a gripping blend of psychological suspense, high-stakes investigation, and emotional undercurrents. Across the series, we follow Allie Bishop, a sharp, determined FBI agent whose intelligence is matched only by her resilience. Each book delivers a self-contained mystery whilst weaving in an overarching storyline that deepens Allie’s personal journey. Ms. Sparks excels at layering clues, along with a few red herrings, ensuring that the final reveals are both surprising and satisfying. The cases are dark and often chilling, but the human connections - between Allie and her colleagues, her adversaries, and even herself - gives the stories heart. The writing is vivid, making it easy to visualize the action, yet still intimate enough to pull you into Allie’s inner world. This is perfect for fans of fast-paced thrillers who also appreciate character-driven storytelling. Happy Reading…
I have been able to read books 2,3, and 4 in rapid succession which is great for my tired brain so I don't have too much time in between books. I think Eva has gotten so much better over her writing with weaving in just enough back story throughout the book but it reads as part of the story so that when you read them close together they aren't overly repetitive. Also the Allie Bishop series seems edgier in a way for lack of a better word. Even though some of the crimes in the Darcy Hunt series were realistically awful these just seem grittier and gives it a more reality to it. I enjoyed this story was surprised by a few twists and turns and am excited to see how the overall story of her mom plays out during the rest of the series.
excellent story but who did the editing for this book
I’ve really enjoyed reading these Allie bishop books by Eva sparks. But one of my pet peeves is a general lack of editing. Misspellings, punctuation, missing words, confusion of characters, etc. I didn’t notice this problem with the first two books, but this third book, the candidate, is full of mistakes. It’s like it wasn’t reread before publication. To me, this is a sign of a “writing farm” when authors relinquish control of editing to an elementary schooler. Bad move Ms Sparks. I hope with your future releases you are more involved in this process, as your previous books reflected.
I really love the characters, I love Sparks' writing, but I don't love how formulaic this has become. I wish the cases didn't all involve serial killers who die in the end. The PNW doesn't have one serial killer after the other, and having them all die feels like cutting some corners and tying it up in too neat a bow to make it feel believable. I want to keep going to see what happens with Allie's mom's story, but I really am going to be bored if she goes back to Tacoma and is thrust into another high-stress case. I think there's a lot that could be done with even more mundane, and day-to-day cases that would still keep this engaging!

Allie Bishop is a new FBI agent who has been working in the Washington field office since she graduated from Quantico. Now she has a new assignment in Idaho and a new partner. In this new case she’s up against a truly evil serial killer who seems to be one step ahead of her and her partner. The story is really good, the mystery is very interesting and even relevant in this time of political uncertainty. I’m not going to give any spoilers. I’m just going to say that this was a great read and it’s very compelling. I love that Allie’s story is also getting more complex as we learn more details. I’m downloading the next book and can’t wait to read it.
A killer is targeting seemingly random members of politically connected families, leaving behind befuddling clues and torturously mangled corpses.
On loan to the Boise field office as Jason recovers from injuries from their last case, Allie delves into this investigation with her signature focus and attention to detail.
And the mystery of the disappearance of Johanna Bishop has a loosened thread, as the mysterious man from the gas station shootout makes contact.
The Candidate(Allie Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller Book 3)
OMG!!!!!!!!! This book had me hooked from the first sentence, I stayed up late on a school night to read it. I did all kinds of thing through out the day so I could read the book more slowly, but the second I picked it up again I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I even had to sit in the kitchen while cooking dinner so I wouldn't burn it. I can't wait for the next book.
Thank you so much Ava for putting a great story together so I could have another family or two out there. I feel like most of my family these days are the ones I’m reading. But when you have such a good writer like you are, it’s very enjoyable. I wonder if the characters know me as well as I know that. I feel real so that means you’re doing a great job. Thank you.
This story was complex. It was well written but seemed hard to put it all together. I guess Allie and Hannah had the same problem. Their dedication to finding the answers was admirable. There was a couple of twists and turns in the story. Didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous 2 books, but I want to continue the story.
Allie is in Idaho working on a case with a new FBI agent. This killer has a vengeance But what he doesn't realize is that he's even worse than the people he's getting vengeance against. He's killing innocent people not the people who hurt him. Ally does her best to try to save the people and even risk her own life at the end.
An enjoyable read overall but for me the parts with Ethan Pierce were the best parts of this book. I'm looking forward to the developing story between Ethan and Allie and the conclusion of the murder investigation into his sister and her mother. I know where I'd like to see their relationship end up, hopefully the author is of the same mind as I.
LOVE THIS SERIES, Eva Sparks really knows the FBI, I think(?)
I love the Darcy Hunt mysteries, and now I’m really enjoying Allie Bishop, another FBI special agent. She is FEARLESS. I cannot put down an Eva Sparks book.
Feels like I can breath again. So many puzzles. So many heartbreaking endings. So much adrenalin pumping in this one. Politics can be a cutthroat business but this takes to a whole new level.
I love this new series. I hope it continues for a long time. Its been great getting to know Allie and watching her grow and become more confident. Looking forward to every new book!
Allie does it again. If it were only that simple, she does.it but only after one twist after the other. This story pulled me in and held me until the last page. Another great book in the Allie series. Another great book by Eva Sparks.
I think this is my favorite Allie Bishop book so far. I really got wrapped up in it and couldn’t put it down. If you like action thrillers, you’ll love this!
Great characters and storyline. Full of suspense. A thriller that will keep you intrigued till the very end. So lock your door and turn your phone off because you won't want any intrusions.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series. This author has a way of not rehashing the past so series readers don't get bored but new readers can pick up and read the book as a standalone. Highly recommended!
I am enjoying this series very much but if you don’t like detailed murders by some truly sick people, then stay away. Some of the scenes are pretty graphic and heavy, but the storyline keeps you gripped. Looking forward to the next one in the series
Really enjoyed this edge of my seat story - the clues and suspense kept coming - page after page - couldn’t put it down- eagerly waiting for Eva’s next book 😊
Love Allie Bishop. I just couldn't stop reading. Now I have to wait till October for number 4. Eva Sparks makes you feel your right there with Allie in her story. Check it out
As I said about the last book, I thoroughly enjoyed each and every word. Already to start book #4. .m I am anxious to see how the old partner mixes with the new!
Eva Sparks is a great mistery writer. Offering up a suspense that you do not want to put the book down. Can’t wait to see what is in store for Miss Bishop next.
