After my life imploded last year, Dad decided that a change in scenery was necessary and moved us across the country. I’ve done the one thing I never thought I would—leave the competitive skating world behind in the rearview mirror.
It hasn’t been easy.
Especially when the person buried in my past no longer wants to stay there.
Ever since stepping foot on campus, I’ve gone out of my way to avoid the hockey players that strut around like they’re God’s gift to the female species.
There’s a reason for that.
My father is Reed Philips, head coach for the Western Wildcats. The number one rule in our house has always been that I keep a healthy distance from his players.
That’s never been a problem.
And it’s not necessarily one now.
Except…
I’ve just had a major run in with Hayes Van Doren.
One that includes me walking in on him freshly showered in the locker room and him thinking I was there to deliver a special birthday present by dropping to my knees.
Oh, trust me…he got a treat all right.
One that left him singing soprano.
I might have spent most of this year flying under the radar where Hayes is concerned, but that’s no longer possible.
Everywhere I go, there he is.
Forcing his way into my life.
He’s a complication I don’t need.
Or want.
Except…
He’s decided to change my mind about that.
The question is—will I let him?

Our girl Jennifer here managed to write an athletic reformed playboy trope in the most swoony, emotionally mature and available, kind, and empathetic young man. This is exactly what the Instagram reels referencing “woman written man” are referring to, because Hayes is perfect. It’s obvious there’s more than meets the eye to who he is as a person, as evidenced by the lengths he goes to in an effort to support the ones he loves.

This college setting sports romance (hockey player + ice skater) starts off STRONG with an unforgettable first chapter. I was cackling and that entire scene will live rent free in my head forever.

Hayes and Ava have great chemistry and entertaining banter. There’s a small amount of a suspenseful mysterious aspect to the story that keeps you guessing. There’s a touch of forbidden love with Ava being Hayes’ coach’s daughter.

Highly recommend this quick read with an easy to follow plot and a fairly fast paced flow - no dragging story line here!

Thank you to Luna Literary Management and Jennifer Sucevic for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was my first book by Jennifer, and I am all in yall. I have already bought book 1 on my Kindle so I can read about all of our hockey guys falling for their leading ladies. I liked reading this one because it was a true standalone. Yes I met the other couples, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything in this one by not reading theirs first. I loved reading Hayes and Ava's stories. At first, I was like I'm reading another playboy turned lover (which I don't mind), but there was a lot of depth to Hayes that we got to uncover. Ava was sooo strong! She had been through so much and understandably had some walls up. I loved watching Hayes slowly break those walls down and Ava let him in. I loved the vulnerability we read with Hayes and how he was so used to girls being all over him where he was having to work at getting Ava's. It's like a fish out of water situation. I loved how they supported each other and how they made each other better. I also loved the supporting cast of characters! My heart broke at the third act breakup but was immediately repaired (luckily the "break" isn't too long).

Ava feels like a shell of who she used to be. Skating was her whole world and though she still loves it, it's almost tainted now because of what happened. She doesn't have much of a social life so when she starts getting pursued by Hayes Van Doren, hockey player/playboy, she doesn't know what to think. She obviously shuts down the pursuit but the man is persistent. And did she mention he is hot. She ends up at a clinic with him and his siblings and starts to realize there is more going on than meets the eye. She loves that he starts to let her in. He shows her things that no one really knows about him. She feels the walls that she has built around herself slowly crumbling. She wants to tell him about Nathan, her old coach but she doesn't want the judgment. But she does and it is freeing. Hayes is so supportive in helping her see how resilient she is and how she isn't broken but mending. Their chemistry is off the charts and when they start to explore things together, it's unlike anything Ava has felt with someone. But Nathan won't go away. He isn't taken the hint to leave her alone. In fact Ava starts to sense that someone has been following her. So when things blow up between her and Hayes in the worst way, she ends up in a terrifying situation that she never thought she would be in. Will Hayes make it in time to save her?

Hayes is not going to lie with the fact that he has enjoyed college. He likes being able to lay with different women with no strings. He has his reasons for not getting attached. But then he has the most bizarre encounter with a woman who happens to be coach's daughter, and he can't stop thinking about her. The girl has some claws. But she is stunning. And watching her skate is a religious experience. He just has to figure out how to get her to let him in. So he puts aside his pride and everything he has been doing to try something else. He talks about his past with her. He introduces her to his family. He finds himself wondering why he isn't freaking out about how he is feeling but it just feels so right. There is this wonderful chemistry between that once they start exploring is like an inferno. But then Ava tells Hayes about the situation with her old coach and Hayes has never felt that type of rage or awe. Rage for what he did to her. And awe for the woman she is on the other side of the situation. But Nathan (the old coach) is still reaching out and not leaving her along. So when Ava's dad drops a hint of how to keep her safe, Hayes sets the scene for Ava with him in the wrong light. It's all to keep her safe but it feels slimy and like something bigger is happening. And when he tries to fix it things go from bad to worse. Will he be able to make Ava understand where he was coming from? Because one thing he knows is that she is his end game.

I found myself picking this up more than putting it down. It was a nice pace story that felt genuine. I am really starting to like the whole playboy turned relationship man because it's so fun reading about the women that get these guys to change their ways and all that happens between them in the middle. I really liked Hayes side gig- that was a nice added touch Jennifer. I would definitely recommend this one for a nice sports romance with a mix of suspense.

Thank you to Luna's Literary and Jennifer for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

The way I stopped reading other ARCs to read this… 😂
I love these stories and the whole western wildcat universe.
I loved the chemistry but I really wanted to find out more and have the whole situation with Hayes family be more important. They have been his motivation for most of his life but were such a small part of the book and barely mentioned after he gets with our girl. I wanted to see more of the soft side of him the way some of the other guys really opened up.
Ava, deserves the world. She did not deserve the plot twist. It was very difficult to read. Your heart breaks for her and her past.

God, I’m trying soooo hard not to do spoilers and it’s killing me!

The biggest negative to me was how coach- Ava’s dad- handled things. Half neglectful and half manipulative. It was like he had two personalities. You’ll see what I mean. His character shifts didn’t make sense to me. If he hadn’t been neglectful or manipulative- the characters wouldn’t haven’t gone through the trauma they did.

Jennifer, ma'am, who ARE you with this book? Is this like Jennifer v.2.0 - or since you've written well over 30 books, is it more like v.30.0+ - because holyyyy mother of all Jennifer Sucevic books!!! "Break My Heart" isn't just the title of this book, I think you may have broken me a little with this one, too... I'm still reeling! I don't know if I'll recover, or if I do, I don't know if anyone can ever compare to Hayes ever again. *sigh* I'm just over here on the floor, crawling my way back to reality, from the complete and utter rollercoaster of this book ... can Hayes perhaps call me a good girl and give me some directive whilst I'm down here? Asking for a friend...

First things first, I'm a realest... and I'm the self-proclaimed Jennifer Sucevic Fan #1 - that's Numero Uno to you - because OF COURSE I've read the entire Western Wildcat Hockey series - in fact, I've read it multiple times!!! (But of course I have!) And we've gotten glimpses of Hayes specifically in book #5 and like one or two peeks at Ava, but definitely more of Hayes. Never in my wildest (wet) imaginations could I have fathomed up what the story between these two could have produced because - ohhhhh myyyyyy godddddd. This is officially the HOTTEST Jennifer Sucevic book! Like.... I'm drooling, salivating, and melting all at the same time while I'm still reeling in the afterglow of this one. This book just gets all the chili peppers, I'm just over here, throwing chili peppers left and right, like they're going out of style. Sure, hand me more chilis because I'll just keep throwing them at this book.

Jennifer, ma'am, excuse me! Hayes is... you made him... and then he said... and he did what?!!... then he told her to do what... before he did what to her... and she asked him to do what... before she did what to him... then she watches as he did what... he then licked what while putting his finger where... ?!?! .... like w-h-a-t?!?! My mind is so blown that it's not even funny, my mind is almost as blown as my retinas from reading this book.

So, let me back track a minute and get my totally scrambled thoughts together. For anyone who's read my reviews, you know I don't give much away from the actual plot of the book, because I love to EXPERIENCE a book and I'm all about going in as blind as possible so I get the full experience. For that reason, I am literally biting my tongue right now. There are sooooo many parts of this book that are just complete and total things that must be experienced. And I refuse to rob you of that experience. But know, I am literally over here sitting on my hands and biting my tongue because I'm dying to yell out how Jennifer wrote Hayes!! She has literally made him her most desirable MMC! Yes, I said it! Because... because... OMG! Not only does he fall first, which I'm sorry but it's one of my favorite tropes, but she makes him .... gahhhh!! I can't say it. But just know, your mind will be blown and your panties will be begging for a good wringing out. Yes, I said it. Ladies (and presumably some gentlemen), I-said-it! But you know what I loved most about Hayes, besides the fact of course that he's beyond ridiculous in all the best ways imaginable - the body, the mouth on him, the love from him, the kindness, the loyalty - is that Jennifer made him so deep. He's like the best kind of onion - AND (apparently) he smells good too. But I loved how Ava experienced peeling back his layers. It was so effing satisfying!!! So satisfying for ME!

Meanwhile, Jennifer succeeded in the almost impossible task and that's making a MFC come off as strong and compelling while not being perceived as a total witch - she's snide and snarky at first, but she's also smart and witty and has such a sharp tongue and it's just so dang good!!! He deserves all of it too! How she gives it back to Hayes... it's pure poetry. Ava is also such a complex character and as we get to know her, giiiiiirl!! My heart. I just... mind blown. She's beautiful, smart, talented, loyal, and did I say talented?

So this book I viewed as three parts really: 1. the hot, wooing part where she's snarky and he's falling first while convincing her to give him a chance. And I'm sorry but can we talk about that meet-cute?!?!??! Omfg! 2. the hot-hot-hot chemistry between them that's just literally off the damn charts. And 3. this new slice of thriller and mystery that Jennifer threw in. This book just has so many parts to it - I almost forgot to say that in all my rambling. But there are so many parts and layers to this book, that it's a complete journey! You know, like a snack, but a journey. But in our time with this story, Jennifer accomplishes making us fall so deeply for Ava and Hayes that even when one of them does the seemingly unforgivable, well... truthfully, I couldn't make myself dislike that character because I already loved them so.... Talk about a successful writer, am I right or am I right?! It's ok, I know I'm right because we're talking about Jennifer freekin' Sucevic here! GAH!!!! She wrote these two characters to utter perfection and their story is all that and a box of Milk Duds.

But before you dive into this one, this is your warning: there's no turning back. You are about to be obliterated. You are about to be so turned on and have your mind blown in so many ways that you will LITERALLY be doing double takes while reading!! I did! I did it a few times in fact! I was like, "Whoa! Wtf did I just read??!?!!? OMG she did not just write that!" Yes, yes, I was there, I did that and you will too because, yes, yes she did in fact write that. And have your bag - or more like a satchel - of chili peppers ready because you too will be hurling those spicy truckers at this book while you silently sob in a corner - not from the chili pepper spice from your fingers that you accidentally got all over your face - but from the fact that the book is over. *silently sobs* That's the dang Jennifer Sucevic curse too, once the book ends you're downright depressed that it's over. That reminds me, hey yo Jen, how's book #7 coming along? I kind of need it. I'm already suffering withdrawals from this world. Please and thank you.

Five billion stars and a semi-truck load full of chili peppers... just don't get the spice all over your face... or other body parts while you're reading. *ahem* IYKYK ;) ... or if you're into that, who am I to judge. I'm not here to yuck your yum.

College hockey coach's daughter trope.
I didn't love Hayes in the beginning but he got a bit better until the conflict. The conflict was one I absolutely despise and ruined the book for me, especially because the resolution didn't really discuss how much of a dick move it was. Ava wasn't a bad character and she deserved better than Hayes and the conflict he caused.

Ava has someone in her past that has come back and I think it was forgotten how that wrapped up. That was left up in the air in a rushed ending that fell flat.
This one wasn't a win for me.

Okay, my fellow hockey romance girlies, this one is for you! ‘Break My Heart’ by Jennifer Sucevic is OUT NOW! It is book 6 of the Western Wildcats Hockey series but can be read as a standalone! It was my first read by Jennifer Sucevic and it will not be my last!! I will def be checking out the rest of this series and other books now that I’ve had my first taste of her books!
I absolutely loved this one so much, Jennifer Sucevic does a great job at making sure you get to know the characters really well, I felt like I knew them while reading this. You will definitely be referring to Hayes as your new book boyfriend by the end of this book.
The cover is super cute but don’t let it fool you, mixed in with all the cute and spicy moments there are some serious topics. Jennifer Sucevic has done a great job at mixing all those together, this book has it all because of that AND towards the end she even throws in a plot twist that I was not expecting at all!!
Thank you so much Jennifer Sucevic and Luna Literary Management for an ARC of this book! I absolutely devoured it!!

If Hayes and Ava don't steal your hear I'm not sure what will. These two start off on shaking ground, but soon Hayes convinced her to give him a chance.

Spending time with him gets her to open up about her past and finally start to move forward. Soon they'll all over each other and getting to live their deepest fantasies.
But her past will not let her go so easily and if they want to come on top, they'll have to do all it takes to make it happen.

This story was addictive and i read it one sitting. I'm more than ready for the next one because i want to see who's behind all the post about Bridger .

I loved this!

Hayes and Ava were made for each other.
I felt for Ava. She went through a very traumatic experience at a young age as a figure skater up until she was in her early twenties.

Her and her parents moved across the country where her dad is now the head coach for the Western Wildcats college hockey team.

There she neets new friends and Hayes. Hayes is a Western Wildcat hockey player, and he's known to be a "ladies man." At first, Ava wants nothing to do with him.

I really loved their "meet cute" Haha!! That was so awesome!

Over time, Hayes gets Ava to open up and learn to trust. They grow closer. Hayes realizes that Ava is his person and he's not scared of that. I loved their romance so much! Their banter and the spice were perfect.

Oh, and there's some suspense and stalking moments, too!

Hockey romance
Coaches daughter
Reformed playboy
Spicy
Kinky

Ava - a college student struggling with anxiety and trauma from a past experience. She is a former figure skater trying to move forward and decide if she wants to compete again. She is not trying to date anyone until she finds a hockey player who is determined to get to know her.

Hayes a college hockey player. Plays hockey, goes to college and helps support his mother and siblings with his online job. He find himself drawn to an off limits girl, the coaches daughter. He is persistent.

This was a good story overall. There are a few “terms” or descriptions I didn’t love but it wasn’t enough to ruin the book. The ending felt a little rushed. Coming to a fast conclusion. All in all I enjoyed the audiobook. Dual Narration.

More 4 1/2 🌟 If you adore a good hockey romance then Break My Heart might be the book for you. Hayes and Ava’s connection is instant, their chemistry, their friendship was a joy to read honestly they are perfect for each other. The way Hayes supported his family and more important Ava truly made this story. I did feel the last few chapters seemed a bit rushed however I adored the epilogue and bonus epilogue. This was such a great read. I received a complementary copy from Luna Literary.

This is Book 6 of the Western Wildcats Hockey Series!

I was lucky enough to receive as an ARC 🥰

Jennifer Sucevic’s Break My Heart is a captivating blend of sports romance, witty banter, and undeniable chemistry. The story follows Ava and Hayes, two individuals whose worlds collide in a whirlwind of unexpected emotions and undeniable attraction.

Ava, once a competitive figure skater, is navigating a new life after leaving her passion and hometown behind. Sucevic portrays her as a resilient yet guarded heroine, determined to stay out of the spotlight—especially when it comes to her father’s hockey team. Her aversion to the players stems from a strict “no fraternizing” rule, but Hayes Van Doren quickly disrupts her plans.

Hayes, a charismatic and cocky hockey player, is the epitome of the “bad boy with a heart.” After an embarrassing locker room encounter, he becomes relentless in his pursuit of Ava, showcasing charm, humor, and a softer side that adds depth to his character. Despite Ava’s resistance, the spark between them is undeniable, and their interactions are filled with sharp dialogue and sizzling tension.

The plot is fast-paced, driven by Hayes’ determination to break through Ava’s walls and her struggle to keep her distance. Sucevic expertly balances humor, romance, and emotional depth, making both characters relatable and likable. Their journey from animosity to love feels organic, with moments of vulnerability that make their connection feel genuine.

What sets Break My Heart apart is the dynamic between Ava and her father, the Wildcats’ head coach. The added layer of familial tension gives the story stakes beyond the romance, as Ava wrestles with loyalty to her father and her growing feelings for Hayes.

For fans of sports romance, Break My Heart delivers everything you’d expect: swoon-worthy athletes, forbidden love, and a healthy dose of banter. Jennifer Sucevic crafts a story that is equal parts heartfelt and entertaining, leaving readers rooting for Ava and Hayes from beginning to end.

I couldn't have picked a better book to close my 2024! Hayes & Ava were much more charming, sweet, and funny than I expected, I loved the personal story of both characters, everything the author showed us about both of them throughout the book and the forbidden aspect of their relationship was a plus that I enjoyed a lot. Also, Jennifer Sucevic always gives me the best updates on the boys and girls of Western Wildcats and makes me love this series more and more with each book.

Ava is a character we've seen a little bit of in the previous books, the daughter of the Western hockey team coach and a former figure skater who had to give up her dream in the sport due to a painful moment in her past that I didn't expect to take such a shocking, heartbreaking and painful turn for her, but Ava is also a super strong, brave, loving and dream-filled girl who also has a beautiful heart, and that's why I loved reading about her finding her place in Western and a group of friends who love and support her unconditionally just like her parents.

Hayes is one of the players on the team that Ava's dad coaches, a boy who has his mind set on the NHL because he loves the game, but also because that way he'll be able to support his family financially, which is the most important thing to him, even more than hockey, and that's one of the things I loved most about Hayes: the sweet and tender relationship he has with all his siblings and his mom, how much they love him and EVERYTHING he's willing to do for them. Hayes is a character that I fell in love with from the beginning, especially in the previous book and I thought I couldn't love him much more, BUT I did, and I loved that the author gave us in this character a plot that is quite common to read in female and LGBT characters and that was refreshing, plus Jennifer gave a twist to this plot that I didn't expect.

The story of Ava & Hayes starts in the best possible way (read the blurb), and from that moment on I fell in love with the interactions of this two, especially how much Ava "hates" being around Hayes and how this guy who has a reputation for being a womanizer becomes completely obsessed with getting to know her, becomes her main support in difficult times and how she begins to open her heart when she realizes who he really is. I also really liked that Ava found in Hayes the love she always should have had, that they both accept each other as they are, and I LOVED all the twists that Jennifer prepared for this book: the touch of suspense, the sweetness of the love story and all those funny moments that Ava & Hayes gave us.

ALC Review

I want to mark this girl as my own.

I sat on this review for a couple of days to see if my feelings changed with distance from the story, but I feel just as strongly today as when I wanted to throw my phone across the room.

This story had so much potential! I am a sucker for hockey romance. Hockey romance, plus my favorite trope, enemies to lovers, is a guaranteed read. The marketing was off. It's a total bait and switch. It isn't enemies to lovers. It's not even a hate-to-love situation. When I overcame that disappointment, I settled in for a good hockey story instead.

For the first 3/4 of the book, I loved Hayes. And then we got to that third-act breakup. My exact thoughts were, "Nope. Nope. Nope." And I am not joking about wanting to toss my phone. I had to pause the book to compose myself before I could continue. Before the third-act-breakup, this was a 4+ star listen.

Third act breakups? Fine. I actually love the angst and pain that comes with the territory—pretending to be hooking up with/cheating on your girl because it’s the only way to break off the relationship? That is a dick move. “I had to make sure she leaves…”

Hayes went from a completely lovable golden retriever to a fucktard in the span of one chapter. Once a manwhore, always a manwhore. Sorry, but letting the one you LOVE think you cheated is despicable behavior. I don’t care about the “reasons”. How could he go from “I get that, but I really don’t like lying to people. Especially ones I respect. And I respect Coach.” to making Ava think he was cheating and feel like he was doing the right thing?

I'll forgive lying to the one you love, but when actions mean more than words, the implication of cheating is worse. And it needs one hell of a grovel for me to be satisfied. I felt let down here. Ava's trauma made her too willing to take Hayes back.

His stupid actions didn’t even save Ava. The juice wasn’t worth the squeeze. They could have reached just as satisfying a HEA without that bit.

The good parts? I loved the spice and sexual chemistry between Ava and Hayes. There was no denying that there was something between them that just fit. I loved how supportive Hayes was and open to exploring Ava's kinks. Making sure she knew that her wants were completely valid and that he wanted to be part of her journey.

The audio portion was well done. The narrators' performance saved the story from being rated lower, and I easily give them five stars.

I love Michael Gallagher. He is always a joy to listen to. Especially when he’s channeling the MMC’s dirty talk, he elevates the spicy scenes to nuclear hot levels. He brought Hayes to life in a way that probably accounts for how intensely I reacted to that third-act breakup. I felt like it was happening to me, not the FMC.

If you can ignore the "cheating" part, you might find this a fun listen.

Thank you to Valentine PR and Jennifer Sucevic for the ALC.

Although it’s the sixth book in the Western Wildcats Hockey series, Break My Heart was my first read from this author and right now I’m wondering why that is and what has taken me so long. I loved everything about this book, from the reformed playboy hero and the damaged heroine’s slowburn relationship and their wide group of shared friends to the hint of danger and suspense from Ava’s stalker. There is nothing better than a golden retriever hero except perhaps one who’s a dirty talker to boot and Hayes Van Doren was so golden, he’d glow in the dark. The love he had for his widowed mother and siblings and the lengths he went to, to provide for them even if it was a bit extreme just added to his appeal and ultimately drew Ava to him. He’d fallen for her the minute he laid eyes on her, not realising she was the coach’s daughter and therefore forbidden. He just knew she was not like the puck bunnies who plagued him. Ava Philips had been on track for Olympic stardom until her life had been destroyed by her coach’s actions. He’d gaslighted her, and left her doubting everything, even her love of skating. The last thing she was looking for was a relationship but slowly Hayes worked his way through her defences, earning her trust and seeing him interact with his siblings was the final tick in the box and she opened herself up to the chance of something more with him. But lurking in the background stalking Ava is her obsessed former coach, determined his former protégé will be his again. If Break My Heart is any indication of this author’s writing, I can’t wait to read more.

spicy enemies to lovers college hockey 🏒 romance

4 ⭐️ 3.5 🌶️

Aww, I loved Ava & Hayes! Hayes is a cocky hockey player, and Ava is a former ice skater and the hockey coach’s daughter. Ava is running from her past and is scared to let someone in. While Hayes is a playboy but not the bad guy Ava thinks he is. He watches her skate early in the morning when she thinks the rink is empty, and Hayes is mesmerized. He calls her ‘Tink’ because he thinks it’s like magic watching her ⛸️ , which annoys Ava to no end. 🤣

Maybe it's the way he looks at me—not like
I'm fragile, but like he sees me.

They strike up a friendship but Hayes says they’ll take it slowly (‘glacial’ in his words) because Ava tells him about her past/being hurt. Well, the slow part doesn’t last long because pretty soon he is giving her lessons and telling her ‘good girl’. 🥵

“Someone stole your power, and now you're going to reclaim it. Understand?"

Ava learns that Hayes makes extra $ creating spicy content online but gives most of the money to his mom to take care of his 3 younger siblings since his dad died.

It's a side of him that contradicts every-
thing I thought I knew.

I have no idea how I got lucky enough to find her,
but I do know one thing-there's no way in hell I'm
letting her go.

Once the guy from her past finally is out of the picture, Ava can move on and fully put herself out there for Hayes.

“I think you’re it for me, Tink”. 🫶🏻

ARC Review

Check TWs

Tropes:
Hockey x Figure skater
Forbidden Romance
He has a side hustle
Coach's Daughter
Healing

I loved how this book started out! While it wasn't a complete enemies to lovers, Ava's no nonsense personality towards Hayes was entertaining and not something Hayes expected.

Hayes is a player and used to girls falling all over him and Ava was the complete opposite. While this intrigued him at first, his curiosity definitely grew into more quickly. His actions towards Ava were so sweet! He made it known he wanted her, but never pushed more than she allowed. Especially after learning about her past he was even sweeter!

Ava has been through hell the past year and she lost not only her trust in people, but also herself. Her taking this step with Hayes was a big risk, but I'm so glad she did! Hayes helped her in so many ways and brought her back to life.

I appreciated that Hayes helped Ava take more control over her pleasure! She was treated as if she was a freak, when in reality she was completely normal. Although I do believe at this point their relationship seemed to turn more physical. Yes, their physical intimacy was a very important factor in Ava's healing, I wish we got to see more of the nonphysical cute gesture for Hayes.

While this is my personal opinion, but I wasn't a fan of Hayes' side hustle. Hayes did what was needed for his family and that's the important part.

The epilogue was adorable! I'm so excited for Bridger's story next!

I am very grateful to have the arc of this book ,and honestly This was the book i need. I was feeling that reading slump , and i need an easy read and don’ t need as much brain power, and this book did not disappoint me. We are following Ava who left the figure skating career because of an incident that happened to her last year, and also the reason they need to moved across the country. And hayed Van Doren a hockey player and a chic magnet who also trying to help his family, and navigating his career. Ava’s dad the head coach of western wildcats has a rule for her to keep his distance from his players. But can they resist each other? Can Ava break the rules? Will Hayed change for Ava?
as I said it was fast paced and really easy to read. There are scenes that is a little cringey, but it was still tolerable it did not gave me that 5 star feeling, however i still had a good time reading it and it kept me entertained which what i need at that moment . I recommend this if you are in the mood of something fast paced and you want a fluffy and funny book that is easy to understand and they are a cute couple and the spicy moment are really el spicy .

This is my first book by Jennifer and definitely will not be my last! Ava and Hayes’s is so much more than a college romance.

🩶College romance
🩶Sports romance
🩶Hurt x comfort
🩶He falls first
🩶Coach’s daughter

The way I was cackling at their first meeting - it was fantastic and started the book off great.

Ava is starting over after she had some stuff go down that affected her life significantly. It also made her see her passion of figure skating so differently.

But throughout the book, we see Ava get stronger and more confident and that is all thanks for Hayes.

Hayes is the perfect golden retriever type and I loved his pursuit of Ava. He was in lust with her from the very beginning and I loved that about him.

These two are completely different, but they were able to take solace in each other and get through different things. There was a little bit of suspense that definitely heightened the story.

Michael Gallagher and Jennifer Blom did a great job narrating these characters. Hayes’s pursuit of her was beautifully executed through Michael’s voice and Jennifer tone brought out such a huge vulnerable side to Ava.

Thank you to Valentine PR for the advanced listeners copy.

🏒 hockey player x figure skater 🏒
🏒 he falls first 🏒
🏒 forbidden love 🏒
🏒 coach’s daughter 🏒
🏒 OF creator mmc 🏒
🏒 she’s being stalked 🏒
🏒 dislike to lovers 🏒
🏒 golden retriever x black cat-ish 🏒
🏒 spicyyyy 🏒

This was the first book I’d read from this author, even though it’s the sixth in the series. They’re interconnected stand-alones, so you can totally go right into it and still know exactly what’s going on.

As you all may know, I am a huge hockey romance girlie, so of course I was thrilled to receive the ARC for this. And it didn’t disappoint! Hayes and Ava are an absolutely adorable couple. He’s a total golden retriever, and she’s got major black cat energy at first, but once he convinces her to give him a chance, she’s a sweetheart too.

Ava has some trauma going on, someone from her past stalking her, very not cool. Not the fun stalking like in the dark romances, no, the bad kind. Luckily, Hayes is like a watch dog, always looking out for her. And the mouth on this man,,, whew 😅. Anywho, I have to mention, the word “cream” (or variations of it) was used wayyy too many times for my comfort level, but try really hard to get past that, and you’ll find a lovely, heartfelt, spicy romance about two people who are perfect for each other.

I received this ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review. Big thank you to Jennifer Sucevic for sending me this! 🩷

ARC Review: 4.5⭐️

Break my Heart is book 6 in the Western Wildcats Hockey series featuring Hayes Van Doren & Ava Phillips.

Ava was a high level competitive skater until a scandal transpired with her coach that led her and her family to move across the country. Her dad took the job at Western as their men’s hockey coach.

Hayes is a star player on the Wildcats and is bound for the NHL. He financially helps his mom with the bills and raising his 3 younger siblings.

One day Ava goes to see her dad in his office at the arena and stumbles upon Hayes in the dressing room in only a towel. Hayes is immediately attracted to Ava but she’s sworn off hockey players.

Eventually they wind up spending time together but when Ava’s dad finds out he asks Hayes to let her go so she can focus on skating once again. But when an unwanted person from Ava’s past comes to town, things take a dramatic turn and Hayes is the one to come to her rescue.

This is only my second book read in this series but it’s so good ! I really need to get back and read them all and I can’t wait to see what comes next !

Thank you Jennifer for the ARC!

I loved how Ava tried to ignore Hayes at first and how she thought he was just like anyone other playboy hockey player just wanting another girl but boy did he prove her wrong in so many ways.. I loved Hayes and how much he cared for his family and how he has such a soft spot for his siblings .. There was also suspense was her stalker was he real or just creepy gives she was getting and you find out towards the end of the book to which way it happens..

I really loved Break my Heart.

I started this book late Sunday (12/22/24) night and finished it this morning. I read it every chance I could. It just pulled me in.

I loved Ava and Hayes story. I like how each book in the Western Wildcats Hockey series has a mystery element, although the element in this one is more suspenseful. It fit the story and didn’t feel forced. There are also elements of a single mom (Hayes’ mom) and Kia was just too cute.

I am impatiently waiting for Never Your Girl. I can’t wait for Bridger’s story.

Thank you LiterallYoursPR and Jennifer Sucevic for an ARC to read and review.

Hayes Van Doren is ADORABLE. With a reputation as a manwhore preceding him, Ava's not interested. Doubly so as she's the daughter of his ice hockey coach. He falls hard, and despite all her misgivings, and a past that's left her feeling broken and lost, he wins her round, and starts putting her back together again. Their story is one that is both sugar sweet and super sexy, edged with building tension from an ongoing situation outside of their blossoming relationship. This was the most dramatic of the Western Wildcat series so far, I'd love to see this one on screen!

Break my heart is part of the Western Wildcats Hockey series as an interconnected standalone that follows playboy Hayes and coach’s daughter Ava. I had a love-hate relationship with Hayes in the beginning but overall I loved this story! It was fast paced with elements of surprise in every chapter. There was chemistry, some banter, but mostly SPICE. If you love a good spicy hockey romance then this is the book/series for you!

I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book. I haven’t read the previous books and I honestly think this can be read as a standalone (but I’m going back to read the previous books because they are just that good!)

This story is your classic coaches daughter trope with a few twists and turns that I didn’t expect. Hayes is a player (hockey and otherwise) and unexpectedly meets the coaches daughter Ava in a not so meet cute. After a rough past she is reluctant to date anyone let alone her father’s players.

This story is about the relationship between a hockey player and figure skater. Can the player turn his playboy ways around to show her what a real relationship is like? This story has many ups and downs and honestly had a hard time putting it down.
