The ties that bind…
Can be murder.

It’s amateur sleuth Eve Foster’s birthday, and her best friend Tiana has planned a surprise party for her at Lake of Pints, the only bar in her new hometown of Granite, Michigan. A good time is had by all…until someone slips her a note asking for help.

Distracted by the festivities, Eve doesn’t read the note until morning, and by then, it’s too late.

A young man has been murdered, and his brother is missing somewhere in the state forest that surrounds the town.

Working with her dogs and a few other volunteers from Michigan Mutts Search and Aid, they locate the missing man, but the murder of his brother remains unsolved.

Feeling a responsibility to dig up the truth, Eve decides to do some investigating of her own.

Cute story

I've drown to love these stories when dogs are involved in crime solving. My daughter is the person who got me into this as I read her books in my library.
A dog trainer uncovers more than just a lost man. As the story unfolds her and her dog solve a murder and with a romantic ending it brought a smile to my face.

You Just Gotta Love Atlas And Willow!

"Ruff Stuff" is Book 2 of Patti Benning's Search and Rescue Cozy Mystery series. This series focuses on Evelyn "Eve" Foster and her life in small-town Granite, Michigan. Monday through Friday from 8 or 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can find Eve working in a dentist's office with her best friend, Tiana. On weekdays after 5 p.m. and all day long on the weekends, Eve likes to hang out with her friend, and she also trains Search and Rescue dogs: Willow is a 9 year old fully trained Search and Rescue German Shepherd Dog that searches for people who are alive; Atlas, although much bigger than Willow, is an almost 2 year old German Shepherd Dog that is in training as a Search and Rescue cadaver dog, for those people feared to be dead. This episode starts off with the arrival of Eve's 32nd birthday. I love the way she talks to Atlas and Willow about the special day. The story then goes to her day at work, her going to a pub with her friend who has a surprise party waiting for her, and meeting a young man at the pub who gives her a note to help find his missing brother. When the young man, Michael, is found dead the next day, Eve has to set out to find his missing brother, and the person who murdered Michael, as well as finding another missing person. Eve is on this case, first with Willow and then with Atlas. I gave this book 5 stars and will read Book 3 next.

Four Paws Rating!

Rough Stuff is another fun, twisty adventure in the interconnected standalone Search and Rescue Cozy Mysteries series. Eve once again finds herself, along with her two hardworking dogs, caught in the middle of a mystery she never intended to touch. By now, the small town knows Eve’s reputation, and people trust her instincts as much as her dogs’ noses. So when a stranger approaches her for help finding his missing brother, she agrees… only for Michael to turn up d3@d soon after.

From there, we follow Eve as she quietly pieces together clues, relying on her dogs, her gut, and her instincts. Watching her navigate another tightly woven case was so satisfying, and it’s made me fall even deeper in love with this genre. The cozy small-town setting mixed with real mystery elements is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine.

And once again, voice actor Julie McKay absolutely shines. Her ability to give each character a distinct, believable voice is unmatched. Her narration takes an already great story and makes it even better. She’s truly in a league of her own.

I’m loving this series more and more, and I can’t wait to see what mystery Eve and her dogs sniff out next.

Ruff Stuff
Search and Rescue Cozy Mysteries 2
By Patti Benning
Narrated by Julie McKay

Atlas is back at work searching for a body, but what brought him back to search and rescue? Well, Eve's surprise party at the bar started out fun, but then a man at the bar slipped her a note. When she checks it out the next day, she finds out he has been killed and the contents of the note has her out with Willow first. The results lead to more questions, and now Eve has Atlas out! But will she be able to keep herself safe? This one is a bit more suspenseful than the first one, and I love the maturing of Atlas, proving he is learning quickly. Another fun listen and now I am looking forward to the third in the series.

Julie McKay continues her fantastic narration. She is amazing as she keeps the voices consistent from book to book, making it feel like home with these characters. Plus she keeps the highs and lows moving as the story progresses. Love her suspense building! Another amazing listen!

Great book!!!!

I really love this series!!!!
Eve's day starts out hoping her family wishes her a happy birthday. Her best friend Leilani gives her a surprise party at the Granite Mug bar.
As the party goes on she has a young man walk up to her a gives her a folded piece of paper and tells her not to read it in front of people with fear on his face. Then he and his friend quickly leave the bar. Eve slips the note in her pocket and forgets about it until the next morning when she searches her pockets to put the clothes in the dirty clothes hamper and the note falls out.
She picks it and reads it and she gets a cold chill down her spine, then her friend Leilani calls and tells her to look at the news, the guy that gave her the note is found.
Now the sheriff has a couple of mysteries on their hands and asked for Eve's help!!!!!
Now you have to get the book to find out what happened!!!!!
You won't be disappointed!!!!

I got to listen to this through Blue Nose immediately after Sniffed Out and I loved it just as much.

The continuation of Eve's life in Granite, Michigan was short and sweet. There was just enough of a ''previously in...'' at the beginning where I would have been set if I hadn't just listened to Sniffed Out.

The mystery in this story was slightly more hidden this time, which I liked. Atlas got his time in the first book and I loved that Willow got her time to show her skills in this one.

I went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and being from Virginia, I didn't even know Marquette, Michigan existed until a few years AFTER I graduated. Every time the town was mentioned, I would smile, thinking of my four years there, even though it's not even the same state.

Again, a short, two hour listen that kept me engaged just enough to make my brain work but didn't distract me too much from my work.

If you love a good mystery, how about three? Patti Bennings’ Sniffed Out, Ruff Stuff, and Rockin’ It make for a fantastic, binge-worthy series. Set in a small town where the FMC is rebuilding her life, we follow her and her two incredible search-and-rescue dogs—one trained to find missing people and the other working toward cadaver certification. Both pups prove to be invaluable to the community as the town ends up facing far more danger and intrigue than anyone expected.

The writing is tight, suspenseful, and full of heart. The characters are relatable and easy to root for, and there’s truly never a dull moment across all three books.

Each installment is solo narrated by the amazing Julie McKay, who brings the entire cast to life with ease. Her performance is so smooth and dynamic that you forget it’s a single voice actor—her delivery keeps you engaged and guessing from start to finish.

I can’t recommend this series enough. Do yourself a favor and dive in. 5/5 all the way!

Surprising twists!

We find ourselves with another mystery to be solved in Granite, Michigan. Have to say, I enjoyed the twists in this book. I was surprised to learn who the killer was.

I like how we learn more of Eve’s past in book two and the unfortunate event which became a turning point for her and how Search and Rescue with Willow and Atlas became her new passion.

Julie McKay’s performance of ALL the characters is fabulous. That’s correct, ALL the characters are brought to life by Julie flawlessly. Easy to forget this is a solo performance.

Patti’s story telling has me captivated and wanting more from the Search and Rescue Cozy Mysteries series. The little teaser at the end, nice, Patti. Can’t wait to read book three.

Thank you Patti and Blue Nose for an entertaining listen.

My first Patti Benning stories but most definitely not my last! These three books are quick, but packed full of coziness & mysterious intrigue. I loved getting to know Evelyn, Aiden, sweet Willow and Atlas, Eve's search & rescue pups. The town gives a cozy feel, and there are twists and turns through each novella. Just when I thought I guessed it, I had it wrong!

Things I Loved:
•Willow & Atlas, Willow is trained to rescue, Atlas is training to recover
•Chemistry that arises between Evelyn and her love interest
•Small Town Vibes
•All The Who-dun-it vibes

One of my favorite female narrators, Julie McKay/Maxine Mitchell, is solo narrating these and she does a fantastic job! She voices both male & female characters and she nails them both each and every time. She brought these characters to life for me in the best way!

better than the first book

Both books are easy reads. My pet peeves with Eve is that she chooses murderers based on nothing. And she is positive that she is right. Until the next person she is sure is guilty. Her books are fast reads. This one almost happens too quickly. Suddenly the murderer is confessing all to her. I felt a bit like "what?!?? This is the end." And, of course, she purposely does stupid things. Her reasons for not dating anyone for 5 years is left unexplained other than a bad break-up. That seems a bit excessive to me. Still, a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. U

Another fast-paced mystery from Patti Benning. This time Eve's celebrating her birthday, and she receives a mysterious note while out. This turns into not one, but two dead bodies. Willow and Atlas to the rescue, Willow to find a missing hiker, and Atlas to find his missing brother. A short mystery that Eve and Atlas solve together. Patti weaves an interesting and engaging story, with the right touch of mystery and character development.

Julie McKay's narration is top notch, really giving Eve and all the other characters life. This series is very enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to the next title. Thank you to Blue Nose Audio for the chance to listen and review.

Diving back into the hectic life of Evelyn Foster, the story opens at her 32nd birthday party, where a mysterious man slips her a note. By morning, one man is murdered, another is missing, and a community is left reeling.

This second book in the series amped up the suspense a bit, and it is interesting to see how Atlas and Willow do their job as K9 search and rescue pups. Eve also progresses in her comfort level when it comes to solving local crime, and she begins to settle into her life in Granite even more.

Julie McKay continues with her incredible narration, and had me devouring the story. Her work is marvelous!

A surprise birthday party thrown by her best friend turns ominous when Eve receives a note asking for help. But she was distracted by the festivities and did not see the note until the next morning when a man was found murdered in the forest and his brother has gone missing. Eve and her rescue dogs will have to find the missing brother and figured who killed the brother. You will be drawn into this cozy read.

I sure like Eve and her friends a lot and of course Eve’s sweet dogs, Atlas and Willow. I wasn’t sure who the perp was, so I just followed Eve around while she sleuthed. The showdown with the perp wasn’t extreme tenseness, as long as nothing went wrong. Some help arrived from the most unlikely source too, which you’ll find out when you read it. I’m eager to see what Eve and the dogs get into next.

Eve gets pulled into another murder mystery and her trusty search and rescue dogs are on point to help solve it!

Once again Patti writes a quick and engaging story. We see familiar characters and new characters come into play but she does a great job of keeping you on your toes, guessing who the actual murderer is!

Julie McKay does an incredible job with her perfomance, carrying over the voices and stories from book one!

I was able to listen to the audiobook thanks to Blue Nose Audio!!

Book 2 in this series is again a great murder mystery! Patti Benning’s writing is consistent with the first book! And again, Julie McKay does a great job of narrating this book!
In book 2, we get to hear a little more about Eve’s day-to-day, but also see more of what the dogs are capable of! From the beginning, we are thrown into a mystery. Between the dogs and Eve’s detective skills, another mystery in this small town!

A strong second book in the new series

Eve goes out with her best friend Tiana and others to celebrate her birthday. The night is going well until a stranger approaches her and gives her a note but tells her to read it when she is alone. From there the mystery picks up. Lots of twists and turns with a surprise ending. A fun read.

Another amazing short story with Eve and her two canines. I love the mix of dog rescue and cadaver dog with a small town mystery. I am completely invested in the characters and this small town. I was on the edge of my seat following Eve as she solved the mysteries in Ruff Stuff. Maxine Mitchell was amazing as usual. Who needs a male narrator when you have Maxine!
