Forbidden because of race..
She lives on a Plantation, she's Charleston's oldest family, meaning they owned enslaved humans.
Her parents call the cops on him.
She calls him good boy.

HE IS FROM THE GULLAH GEECHE COMMUNITY AND STAY WHILE HER PARENT RACIALLY BERATE HIM.

Participates in his own oppression

Who tf sensitivity read this?!?!?!

I get now why I dnfd this author's first book. I wanted to give her a second chance (given that I need to fulfill that Bingo square of mine), but her writing aggravates me to the extent of eye rolling and teeth grinding. The author tries too hard to be cute and for the MMC to be swoony. Well newsflash, they're not.

First order of discordance: ☝️

Pairing a super tall MMC, this guy is 6'5", with a super tiny MFC, she's barely 5 feet tall 🙄

...just saying it brought back the image of her standing in front of me and how the top of her head hardly reached my chest.

She had to tilt her head back to where her chin was almost pointing to the sky in order to meet my gaze because I towered over her so much.

🙄🤨😒😶💅

Second order of discordance:

The MFC instead of cute or confident comes off as desperate. She drunk called the guy, a total stranger, having only met him twice, briefly! He came to the rescue. She was too out of it to remember where she lives so he takes her to his house. He acts very professional with her, though he tells her indirectly that he is attracted to her but since her parents and her are his clients he draws a line and acts distant. For 3 days after that she keeps calling him to invite him out and he keeps letting her calls go to voicemail. But she is not deterred, nooooo ☝️ 🙂‍↔️ she calls his office, makes sure his morning is free and bullies him into having coffee with her!
Girl!..... we know he likes you because we can literally read his thoughts, but if a man avoids my calls and ghosts me for days I don't corner him and force him to meet with me! I'd get the message and stop my stalker-ish behaviour immediately!!!

Soooo the coffee meeting actually happens and this is what went down.....

"I can buy my own coffee, thanks." I tried to keep my words with her polite yet safe.
"Next time it's on me."
"Who says there's going to be a next time?" I coun- tered quickly, knowing exactly what game I was playing. She took a step closer to me and pressed a finger to my chest.
"Im a Sinclair, Mr. Vesey, and we always get what we want. Don't you forget that." She nodded her head at me once before flipping her hair and walking to the register.

Ummm 🤔 is this supposed to be cute?!
Because the only vibe I am getting is her being an annoying crazy ass STALKER!!!!! Definitely NOT cute!!!

And to top this whole charade off.....

Order of discordance number 3:

Her attire....

She had her hair half pulled back behind her head and tied up with an oversized white satin bow that matched the outfit she was wearing- a plaid, tweed skirt hit just above her knees and the matching jacket she wore was buttoned top to bottom. The large gold buttons caught the morning light shining through the large glass windows of the café. She had on a pair of cream, knee-high socks that sat under a pair of brown, lace-up leather boots. The look aired on the side of grownup school girl with a hint of old money and a dash of sophistication.

🤔 I was unaware I was reading Manga.... 🤦‍♀️

That's it... DNF!!! this author is not for me...

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed this book slightly better than the first, only because it wasn’t like Insta Love and had a small “slow burn” to it.

This story was lovely and so was the couple. It had some important topics in the story that I really enjoyed how they were handled and overcome

Talking about Magnolia, I enjoyed her and I really like her character development and how she became an independent woman 🫶🏻

Kolbi is such a sweet and caring man. I loved everything he did for Magnolia 🥹 Although there’s a small scene I didn’t enjoy in the first book and it happened here again, nothing too crazy but I can’t wrap my mind and forget about it.

They were a very sweet couple and very supportive of each other and I loved how they overcame the obstacles they faced throughout their relationship 🥰

I loved to see these characters again, especially Hank and Bailey who were so sweet like always 🫶🏻

Very curious for the rest of the series, especially now I hope for a Malcolm and Ophelia story 🤩

Thank you to Rebecca Wrights for an opportunity to receive this book as an ARC and in return to give my honest rating and review 🫶🏻

Kolbi Vesey was at the top of his game. He had everything he needed: three best friends he was fiercely loyal to, a security company that was rapidly growing, and a beautiful historic home in downtown Charleston. As a Black man who started with nothing, he worked hard to earn his billionaire CEO status and gain the love and trust of Charleston’s most influential people.

When he gets the call from one of the city's oldest and wealthiest families with an offer to lead security for the patriarch's state Senate campaign, saying yes seemed like a no-brainer. What he didn’t expect to happen when he took the job was to fall for his totally off limits daughter.

Magnolia Sinclair grew up in the one hundred year old plantation home that's been in her family for generations. As a Sinclair, her parents had set high expectations for her since the day she was born and she did everything she could to keep them happy. But every time she tried to make them proud, she was met with not-so-subtle reminders that her parents wished for a boy but ended up with her instead.

After a run in with a handsome stranger riding a skateboard, her sense of the world begins to shift. When they meet again, this time with him wearing a custom fitted suit, she realizes that living life for herself is far better than living in the box her parents forced her into. Together they begin to discover that the right people will love you for who you truly are and it’s never too late to become the person you’ve always wanted to be.

Divine Sense is the second book in the interconnected, stand-alone Nat. 20 series. This book follows Kolbi, a billionaire CEO security firm owner and the city heiress he’s so NOT supposed to fall for. Their story is spicy and steamy but also tender and healing and has an unconventional HEA you’ll love.

Review:

I really enjoyed kolbi and magnolia story and I loved their relationship ❤️

Kolbi is hired by a Magnolia family for security

Kolbi and Magnolia had met when he almost ran her over with his skateboard

Magnolia walked him on her dick of a boyfriend hooking up with a younger woman.

Magnolia family is just awful, especially the mother and blaming Magnolia for Daniel cheating on her audacity.

Magnolia and Kolbi become friends, but he wants to be more even though she's off limits .

They finally hook up the spice between them is hot

They become official yay

I love the friend group of course

And how Bailey and magnolia bond over gilmore girls.

The mom finds out and threatens kolbi, and at this party, Magnolia finally stands up for herself, and Magnolia's father hits her

And kolbi defends her and he got arrested and magnolia family cut her off they just fucking suck .

Magnolia gets a job with Bailey and moves in with kolbi.

Hank and Bailey wedding happens, and Malcolm wants to hook up with ophie I wonder if they are gonna be a thing in the next book.

REBECCA DID IT AGAIN!! 🥺🤭
I was dying, melting, screaming and blushing through this book! I fell in love with Mending Me immediately and book two of this series absolutely did not disappoint!
The diversity and the real life issues are so well represented!
And it’s obviously not a book from Rebecca if you don’t have a little cry in the mix! 😂😭
10/10 recommending this book and screaming from every rooftop I can find.

I would marry Kolbi

I’m going to start off by saying that Kolbi is the kind of man you marry. He’s just straight husband material. The way that this man can be protective and provide for Magnolia while still supporting her rise in independence was so perfect. Mama raised him right. I love everything that he built for himself and the way that he has found peace with his angel.

Magnolia is one of my favorite type of FMCs. You see her grow into her own strength and power. I love how she had this deep rooted sense of right and wrong despite how her parents were. I loved that she recognized that her goodness and kindness was a result of her one true friend and the housekeeper that raised her. She felt so uncomfortable with the cruelty of her parents and that’s how everyone should be. We should call out wrongness and prejudice without back down because of fear.

My last point, that ending was perfect. It was not your traditional HEA. It was so much better and I feel so joyful over it.

Thank you to Rebecca for sharing this eARC with me. 🫶🏼

Another INCREDIBLE read from Rebecca Wrights. After reading her books, I always feel so happy and hopeful after reading her books and Divine Sense is no exception.

First, I want to thank Rebecca Wrights and her team for an ARC of Divine Sense in exchange for an honest review.

For the book, I was so excited to see the way Rebecca wrote Kolbi! I loved how she tied in his family history into him being the DM and his amazing storytelling abilities. I really appreciated the author's note at the beginning and hearing how much thought and care she put into writing Kolbi. Learning about his family and how he became the man he is today was eye-opening and thought provoking. There were a lot of situations that Kolbi had to deal with in the book that were so sad to read, but are unfortunately still happening today. I think seeing Magnolia grow and learn was great character development and I loved how her and Kolbi leaned into each other instead of apart. Seeing their love story unfold with such care and thought actually brought tears to my eyes (my instagram saw the tissues i went through lol).

This was an incredible story and I cant wait for the rest of the books in the series! I was lucky enough to be chosen as a beta reader for book 3 of the Nat 20 series and I CANNOT wait for you all to read it!!

OH MY GOD. When I say this one broke me... Rebecca keeps making me cry. This one hit really hard for me because I have dealt with some of the topics dealt with in this book, and Rebecca did a phenomenal job representing those experiences and the emotions surrounding them. This book gave me hope and let me relive those memories through the eyes of fictional character. Rebecca is out here helping us cope with our trauma lmao. I have said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not one to reread books but I definitely will be re-reading this one. Anyways, Rebecca Wrights, I would sell my soul for you <3

“DIVINE SENSE” REBECCA WRIGHTS ?/5 🌶️🌶️.5/5

*Received this book as an ARC for an honest review**

“I thought you said you couldn’t have me?”
“I thought you knew you were already mine.”

Oh Kolbi Vesey, the man that you are.

I knew the moment Kolbi's books was announced that I am gonna be absolutely obsessed - and I was correct.

We start off with a very important moment that plays a big part in the ending of this book, but shortly after we also get to finally see the hardworking man who we got a few glimpses of during Hank's book. The man behind the very successful Company - Sweetgrass Security, which he built from the ground up and is flourishing thanks to him and his employee's hard work.

More so, Kolbi Vesey is kind and good.

We also get to meet Magnolia, daughter to a prominent Charleston family who is the image of class and beauty. She has always been everything her parents wanted, dressed, studied, acted and dated who and how they expected her to - never setting a foot out of place. But even this could not keep the loyalty of the man she was with when we first meet her.

After almost being run over by a kind stranger on a Saturday morning after not paying attention to where she was going, she left never expecting to see him again.

But she does, because this dark, handsome stranger is the head of the security company her father hired as he starts his campaign to get elected, and little do they know that this is only the start of their very beautiful story.

Yes this is a love story that faces it's own challenges, but more so, it's about friendship and unconditional love and standing up in the face of cruelty of people who pretend otherwise.
The love we see overcomes everything and the amazing things that happen when you allow yourself to be happy and become who you always were meant to be.

Rebecca has done it again.

Rebeccaaaaaa!!!! Goodness I love you and your adorable characters! I have been waiting (not so) patiently for this book & it did NOT disappoint! I ATE THIS BOOK UP! I can’t wait for book 3! 🖤

⭐️4.5 /5 🌶️ 3/5
Divine Sense is a contemporary romance following Magnolia & Kolbi. Magnolia’s father is running for South Caroline state Senator, and her father hires Kolbi’s security company to protect his family throughout the campaign. Magnolia & Kolbi have an instant attraction to one another, however, Magnolia is a client & Kolbi is not someone Magnolia’s family would approve of her dating.

The characters: The chemistry between Magnolia & Kolbi was off the charts. 🔥 Kolbi was so sweet, kind, respectful, and protective of Magnolia.. but was very dominant in the bedroom and it was 🥵! Magnolia was a little spitfire. She was so used to being exactly who her parents wanted her to be, but she finally discovered her true self and stood up for herself! I loved seeing her character development and how supportive Kolbi was of her. My favorite character was Mama. She had me wanting a mama hug real bad. 💕

Also, I’m so excited for Hank & Bailey! They have my heart! ❤️

Tropes:
🖤 biracial couple
🖤 he’s rags to riches and she’s a trust fund baby
🖤 forbidden romance
🖤 secret romance
🖤 she falls first… he falls harder!
🖤 BIG height difference
🖤 protective mmc
🖤 nicknames (which I LOVE!)
🖤 found family

Thank you Rebecca Wrights for the privilege of being on your arc team for Divine Sense.

I loved the intros that explained what type of triggers the book may contain, the background of the characters and what we could expect. Love that she also included a link to further learn about a community linked to her MMCs background.

I felt this was a slow burn, but the good kind. I like the little “meet cute” Magnolia and Kolbi shared, although it was a little of the opposite being that they didn’t actually like each other right then. I like that they challenge each other. I find Magnolia’s parents really annoying and sometimes wanting to slap some sense into her mom. I’m pretty sure the ending may upset some people, but I honestly enjoyed it. I am so glad that Magnolia has broken out of her parent’s spell and became her true self. There were times where I got angry but not angry at the book nor the author. I was angry because situations like this are still happening in our world. Why? We have, we need to evolve and I love that this book was all about their love and how her parents POV could not break her, nor their love for one another.

I read this as an ARC as well as Mending Me, the first book in the series. I came across Rebecca randomly on Instagram and fell in love with the tropes she presented for Mending Me. I appreciate being able to read the ARCs for both books. I did receive my book of Mending Me and can’t wait for Divine Sense to release. I actually can’t wait for them all. Although I did enjoy these Hank and Kolbi’s story, I honestly can’t wait for Malcom and Conrad who are total opposites to the two. ❤️

Oh how I just loved this book. When Rebecca released the teasers for the novel, I just knew that Kolbi and Magnolia’s story would be so special to me. I was locked into this book the second I started the prologue. I absolutely adored the way that Magnolia was written—strong FMC without having out-of-character traits, and just being such a girly girl I loved it. Kolbi, my fucking king, all I could picture him as was Michael B. Jordan and when I tell you it literally changed my life while reading. The culture in this book was immaculate, and the knowledge of the Lowcountry warmed my soul to an entirely new level. As a white woman, the serious themes in this book felt appropriately written without sugarcoating or watering down actual injustices against Black individuals in the south, along with the dark history that’s interwoven into the generations that have resided in Charleston. I’m very appreciative of Rebecca using intense sensitivity reading to translate realities into this book. I thought that Magnolia’s naïveté was annoying at times, but I suppose when your silver spook is diamond-studded, it’s easy to not recognize your privilege LOL. Also, Conrad was pissing me off (yet again), and even Malcolm was!!! I hope that Malcolm gets his shit together next book😀

If there’s one thing about Rebecca Wrights, it’s that she knows how to write raw, real, and relatable books. She takes real life struggles and challenges and writes truths so beautifully, even when it’s a heavy subject like the ones touched on in this book. I knew I loved Kolbi before, but my gosh do I positively adore him now. He is the perfect example of making the most of not having much and growing his life into something beautiful.

And Magnolia?! My girl. I loved how she compared herself to Lorelai Gilmore and damn did that ring true. She is your quintessential rebellious child because her parents tried to rule her entire life.

As a parent, Magnolia’s parents just made me so incredibly sad. I can’t imagine a situation that would make me be that awful to my only daughter (I only have one child, a daughter). Especially when that daughter is a good person who just wants to love and be loved.

On a more positive note, I freaking ADORE the Nat 20 men. That found family is so nerdy and adorable. I loved seeing more of my girl Bailey too!

This story touches on the topic of racism and an interracial relationship and how true love is so strong. Bravo, Rebecca. You truly did Kolbi and Magnolia’s story justice in the best way.

Kolbi & Magnolia’s story was emotional and gave me all the feels. It was a secret relationship I was rooting for from the first time they ran into each other.

Stars: 5/5
Spice: 3/5

Magnolia is leaving yoga class and not paying attention – and a man on a skateboard doesn’t have time to stop. A few days later, she’s at her parents’ home for a meeting about the security for her dad’s political campaign. And Kolbi walks in – the same man who ran into her on his skateboard.

I’ve read and loved each of Rebecca’s books, and she just keeps getting better! Kolbi & Magnolia’s story was a rough one, tackling tough topics – and it was done with such care for the characters, the things they go through, and the growth they show, I couldn’t put it down. Magnolia was the sassy FMC learning who she is apart from the box her parents have tried to keep her in until now. And Kolbi – yet another green flag MMC from Rebecca, and I am here for it!! He tried so hard not to fall for her and absolutely, positively failed in the best way. The dedication truly set the tone for this story, and I love that:

“To anyone whose path has been set for them, take this as your permission slip to step off that path and run like hell towards the life you’ve always dreamed of.”

Highly recommend!

magnolia + kolbi 🫶🏻

I have been anticipating for this book since I read the first one in the series 🥹

Kolbi is such a GOOD MAN 😩 He’s thoughtful, kind and protective over the people he loves and cares about. He gives back to his community and always remembers where his roots came from. He tried so hard to stay professional but he knew he wouldn’t be able to resist Magnolia for very long.

Magnolia didn’t exactly make it easy for Kolbi to resist either 🤪 Although she comes from a family with money, she craves love and affection from her family. Her family has high expectations on her and brings her down constantly and I say this with much disrespect, but F*CK HER PARENTS. Kolbi is there for Magnolia in a way she’s never experienced before and she finally gets the love and support that she’s always deserved 🥺

Also thank you to Rebecca Wright for including Hank and Bailey’s special day 😭 I had tears in my eyes during that chapter!!

I mean 🥰🥰🥰

This book was fun in all the good ways and dealt with some strong and emotional points of characters lives due to the circumstances and families they were born into but for me it somewhere felt short, I so wanted it to have emotional depth in characters along with the fact that there needed to be a character arc. I wont say that it wasn't a good read for me but it just didn't hit that part for me to be honest.

Magnolia though not okay with how her parents lived their lives and how pretentious they were sometimes came off just like that to me.

Like always I loved the friendship of Kolbi and the squad!! I was so happy to see Hank and Bailey again. Overall I feel that their love could have been developed more.

this book is beautiful in so many ways. the way they love eachother is beautiful, the way its written is beautiful, but most importantly, the things it brings light on are beautiful. Rebecca is an amazing writer and for her to use that skill to bring awareness to a real problem, is amazing. I love the characters, especially our girl Magnolia because she broke free from her parents planned out life and went for what she wanted. and kolbi for sticking by her side no matter where it left him. this couple is the definition of true love, kolbi is the definition of 'if he wanted to he would' and 'just because', because the man took her to her dream place, 'because she said she wanted to go' swoon. Magnolia is an absolute icon and badass for enduring years of her parents stuff. thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this, it was truly amazing 💜

This was not a light read. There are some difficult topics in this book, such as parental neglect and racism. These were beautifully countered by love, friendship, and found family. This is a standalone book and part of an interconnected series. I was so grateful to the author for bringing back the main characters from Book 1 and providing additional closure to the first story.

Thank you to Rebecca Wrights for providing an ARC. These thoughts are my own.

[ARC Review]

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

First, a huge thank you to Rebecca Wright for this ARC! Divine Sense is the first book I’ve read from her, and it absolutely captivated me from start to finish.

Kolbi is everything you could want in a hero—steadfast, strong, and caring. He manages to be protective without holding Magnolia back, offering her support while giving her the space to rise on her own. His actions and loyalty throughout the story prove he’s not just a man of words but someone you can truly depend on.

Magnolia, on the other hand, is the kind of heroine who steals your heart. Her growth throughout the book is phenomenal as she discovers her own strength and resilience. What I loved most was her moral compass—she stands for what’s right even when it’s uncomfortable, a trait made even more admirable considering her difficult upbringing. Her ability to recognize the goodness around her, particularly in the people who showed her unconditional love, adds so much depth to her character.

What really struck me about Divine Sense were its themes of courage, compassion, and standing against injustice. Magnolia’s journey challenges us to face wrongness head-on, even when fear tempts us to remain silent. It’s such a powerful message, and one that Rebecca Wright weaves beautifully into her storytelling.

This book is a gem, filled with heart and moments that stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page. I’m so glad this was my introduction to Rebecca Wright’s writing, and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store. If you’re looking for a story about strength, love, and doing what’s right—Divine Sense is for you.

If Rebecca Wrights wrote it I’m gonna read it. At this point I’m convinced that I’ll love anything she writes. The way she writes men obsessed with their woman, *chef’s kiss*. I eat it up every time and Kolbi Vesey did not disappoint. Add the rich boyfriend trope to that 🫠 you have me in the palm of your hands.

Kolbi and Magnolia are just such a perfect match and they were just so cute and amazing together I think they’re going to be my favourite of the series 😭. I also really loved them individually as their own person. They both have such good hearts even though their upbringing were not the best, for different reasons.

Something else that I absolutely loved is the writing (no surprise there.) Similar to Mending Me, Divine Sense felt kinda a bit insta lovey which is one of my least favourite tropes but with the way it was written I loved it and devoured it, give me more. Plus their meet cute 😭 literally crashed into each other’s lives 🤭

One of the things I was really excited about in book 2 is Magnolia meeting Bailey and the boys. I was giggling and laughing so much, I enjoyed the scenes where they all hung out together. And all the Hank and Bailey crumbs 😭 there were so many and it made my heart so happy.

The ending was so perfect, I feel like it was the perfect ending for Magnolia (even though it’s not the happiest) and the epilogue had me tearing up a little 😭 Kolbi and Magnolia are just the sweetest people.

Overall amazing book. I enjoyed the plot a lot and loved the characters and the way they were written. The spice was also good 🤭 I had the best time reading Kolbi and Magnolia’s story and would definitely recommend!

Thank you so much for the arc!!

Watching Rebecca develop her prose is the highlight of my reading experience with her books. Now let me tell y’all something. Rebecca truly outdid herself with this one. Magnolia and Kolbi are absolutely precious dare I say diabeticly sweet. Their love story is rooted in forbidden love, truth to oneself, and found family

Magnolia’s story truly broke my heart. In the book, her development is carefully portrayed. It is one thing to be neglected and abandoned but to miss people who are right in front of you is a different pain. Neither pain is comparable but it was hard watching her crave her bio family’s love and approval. Her parents are horrendous and I have encountered many people like them. Rich and racist types.

I wish we explored more of Kolbi’s story. One of my largest critiques is that I still feel like I barely know him without the presence of “Flower” and his friends. His family hosts weekly Sunday brunches but we only interact with them very few times throughout the entire book, if at all.

Another critique is the portrayal of the important black women in both Kolbi and Magnolia’s lives. These characters have a caregiving role with little to no personality outside of their nurturing nature. It would be interesting to see a black character with more complexities outside of their assigned role.

Kolbi and Magnolia demonstrate love in its Divine Sense. There is something incredibly pure about two souls connecting in a way that defies what can be understood by folks on the outside. I am excited for the adventure of Malcom’s journey. I’m ready to see that playboy on his knees (in more ways than one).

🎀 ARC REVIEW 🎀

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Devine sense by @rebecca wrights
I really needed to read this book! It was so enjoyable, the characters were on point, the writing was on point, and every single thing was on point!! When I started reading this book, I had only one week left untill my final exams 💀 I told myself that I would just read one chapter and finish reading the rest when my exams where over but after reading the Prologue I was hooked, I kept wondering what the HELL landed Kolbi in that situation and to find my answers I needed to finish reading the book, and I finished it😍, despite the academic pressure. I don't regret doing it AT ALL😂. And God, I felt it every single time he called her flower! That nickname got me blushing and smiling shyly like I was the one he was addressing, lol. I'm so glad Magnolia had Mrs Ruthie and Margaret. I dont know how she would have survived in her home without them. Her parents are absolute horror. The worst, I can't believe they cut her off so easily and that Daniel guy was a dick. At least Kolbi's family was welcoming and loving. His friends were cool too, and I'm looking forward to seeing Marcus in love. I have literally narrated Devine sense to my sisters lol and I know they will be reading it soon. All in all, I loved this book, and I urge everyone who is a fun of interracial romances to read this book. Trust me, you won't regret it!

3.75⭐️!

what’s better than a cute romance novel? a romance novel written by one of your favorite indie authors!!

this book follows kolbi and magnolia, and it was such a cute read! kolbi and magnolia meet when he almost takes her out on his skateboard, but turns out his company is hired to be her family’s security/bodyguards while her dad is running a political campaign. this means that they are not really supposed to start anything romantic; however, magnolia is having none of that and continues to go after what she wants. i loved reading their story and seeing how much character growth magnolia has throughout the story. on a side note, her parents are the worstttt!!

i cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

3.5⭐️ Thank you Rebecca Wright ARC copy!

It was such a nice book to read, not really fast paced but still I couldn’t wait to see what was next for Kolby and Magnolia.

Thing to expect:
💎secret relationship/forbidden romance
💵 billionaire boyfriend
🌸 old money FMC
💎 found family
💵 interracial couple
🌸 no third act breakup

I loved so much how they met before knowing Kolby worked for Magnolia’s father and how Magnolia almost immediately apologised for what happened. It was so nice to see Kolby’s life outside of work and I really enjoyed having Hank and Bailey mentioned again! The romance between Kolby and Magnolia was just beautiful. And the twist at the end? -chef kiss-

Magnolia is very welcoming to him, his family and his friends. I love the found family aspect this series has. Im going to be thinking about this for a while and immediately getting a physical copy! 4.75⭐️/ 3🌶️

Rebecca Wrights has written another wonderful story, and let me just say, within the first few pages, and chapters, I WAS HOOKED! This story followed, Kolbi Vesey and Magnolia St. Clair as the two of them formed a connection as Kolbi’s security firm was hired to provide security for Magnolia and her family as her father ran for a senate seat. Magnolia and Kolbi came from different backgrounds, but regardless of their upbringing’s, they still connected and couldn’t help the growing attraction between them. Kolbi was a hard working man, thoughtful, strong, protective, and honestly such an amazing man! Magnolia was fashionable, classy, but also capable of snapping back when necessary. Kolbi and Magnolia were the perfect couple together, and seeing their romance unfold was a treat to see, but also explore the difficulties they faced along the way. The second book in the interconnected series by Rebecca Wrights was amazing and one I would highly recommend.

(Sigh) is it too soon to say I fell in love with a fictional man within the first few chapters? Because, if that’s the case then I feel head over heels in love with Kolbi! Kolbi was such a great character, and getting the chance to dig deep into his backstory and learn more about him was great. Kolbi didn’t come from a rich family like Magnolia, but through hard work and determination he was able to create a very successful security firm in Charleston which provided to be the perfect opportunity to bring Magnolia and him together. Kolbi was a great MMC, his protective nature over Magnolia was great, he was so thoughtful like the gift he gave her, and overall supported her throughout different situations which I liked to see especially since Magnolia had only ever had two people who truly cared for her. Kolbi is the kind of character that will leave you wanting more of him, and absolutely falling head over heels for. Plus, Kolbi was a man of action and he made sure to Magnolia just how much she meant to him A LOT!

Magnolia came from a wealthy family, one would say she came from “old money”, but even with all the money she could have, there was one thing or namely one person she wanted most of all, Kolbi. When Magnolia first met Kolbi, it wasn’t exactly the meet cute you would have imagined, but it set up the way for when Magnolia would once again come face to face with Kolbi when he was hired to provide security for her father’s upcoming campaign. Having always been surrounded by wealthy people, and individuals who were so focused on their images, Kolbi was a breath of fresh air to Magnolia. I could see right away that Magnolia fell first for Kolbi and as much as he tried to keep a “professional” relationship, Magnolia was determined to have him for herself!

Throughout the story, Kolbi and Magnolia’s relationship was one that continued to grow, but also faced some challenges before they got to their happy ending. Not only did Magnolia and Kolbi come from different upbringings, but with the way Magnolia’s parents were determined to control every aspect of her life including the man they thought she should be with, it became clear that Magnolia’s relationship wouldn’t be accepted by her parents. Magnolia had always been the dutiful daughter, doing everything possible to earn her parents approval, but at a certain point Magnolia finally realized that she needed to live her life according to HER OWN CHOICES. When the time finally came that Magnolia stood her ground, I could tell it was a bit of a big moment, and although it ended up in a blow out with her parents, at least she finally had everyone know how much she loved Kolbi.

Rebecca Wrights did a fantastic job bringing to life Magnolia and Kolbi’s romance. Through the obstacles of them trying to be together, facing judgment, and harsh treatment, Magnolia and Kolbi overcame it all in order to be together. This was a romance that had its fair share of hardships, but through it all both Kolbi and Magnolia grew stronger, and in Magnolia’s case, changed her mindset on who she really wanted to be. Now, even though this story tackled some heavy topics (which Rebecca did a good job in respectful writing) there was also more of that found family that I absolutely adored like in the first book, “Mending Me”. Getting to see Hank, Bailey, Malcom, and Conrad was great and I got to see a bit more of their different personalities and the overall friendship within the friend group. Everyone welcomed Magnolia witnessed open arms and just like that there was a new person in the found family! There was also the swoon worthy romance between Kolbi and Magnolia that I also LOVED! Magnolia may have been the first to make moves on Kolbi, but he fell even harder for her! Once Kolbi and Magnolia got together, Kolbi was a man in love and wholeheartedly devoted to Magnolia which again, I FREAKING LOVED! There were so many great aspects to this story that once you read it, you’ll also love the characters, and appreciate the subtle hints and details spread throughout it. I’m eagerly waiting for the next book, and I have an idea on who might be next in the interconnected series!

Kolbi and Magnolia are a dream pairing.

Rebecca never fails to deliver a book that will leave you kicking your feet, crying, and with a heart full to the brim.

The friendships that are painted in these pages. The found family. The love. It’s actual perfection.
