3.5 ⭐️. Takes an already created piece and changes the medium. The story is shortened, focusing more on the important action bits. Some of the art choices were…not what I’d prefer, especially some of the character art but it was good.

I grew up in the era before you always bring the DVD/Blu-Ray home or even just stream a movie and so I was always a huge fan of my favorite movies getting the comic book adaptation treatment. Not the first time I've read the four color version of the Prequels. This was a really solid adaptation as it didn't feel like anything big got left out and even if it felt rushed at some times, it was a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Special Thanks to Dark Horse Comics and Edelweiss Plus for the digital ARC. This was given to me for an honest review.

This comic collection is a faithful adaptation of the first three Star Wars movies - in fact so faithful that most of the lines are lifted straight from the movies. This put the comic in a bit of a weird place for me - on one level I do like that it really is faithful rather without any changes. But I'd also wish that the change of medium would offer a bit more than just different visuals.

The story, as mentioned, is straight up the story from the movies with all its highs and lows. If you liked the movies you'll like this and similarly if you hated them, this won't change your mind. Personally, I would not have minded if they had taken some liberties with some of the worst lines from the movies.

The art style feels like an adaptation of the Tartakovsky's Clone Wars animated series which has a certain charm. I do feel it's a bit simplistic at times and I would have wished for a bit more detail - or then go for a truly artistic look. Depictions of locations are better than that of the characters. Just like with the story, some of the shots follow the same camera angles from the movies, which does give a bit of nostalgia but again feel unnecessary in a comic.

Overall if you're a huge Star Wars fan and would like to experience the prequels a bit differently (or just quicker), this is a fine installment. If you've never seen them, probably watching the movies is a better bet. There's nothing really wrong with the comic, neither anything truly exciting. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

Obviously its the prequel trilogy as a graphic novel. The art style is very unique but i also understand how its not an art style some totally vibe with, but at the same time it reminds me of the clone wars series animation style.

While this would be a great read for a younger reader who perhaps cant sit down long enough to watch the movies and so this would be a great substitute, my problem with this graphic novel is the same I've been having with a lot of the comic/graphic novel versions of a lot of the movies and books. Only so much information can be portrayed in this story telling form of 208 pages and so for me a fair amount of character building moments get missed and leaves me disappointed in the experience.

nonetheless this still makes star wars and the prequel era more approachable for new and younger fans.

As advertised, it's the prequel trilogy as a graphic novel. The art style is unique, and the colors are beautiful, but I'm not a huge fan of it overall. To be honest, it's a good title to have to almost speed through the films, but I'd rather watch the movies. Obviously, the graphic novel can only convey so much and it does the job well enough.
