USA Today best-selling author Megyn Ward lives on coffee, chocolate and more than the occasional glass of red wine. When she's not spending time with the hot, dirty-talking Alphas and the strong, capable women who love them who live in her head, she's busy chasing chickens (and kids), hanging laundry and burning dinner. Either way, she is almost always in the company of her eight dogs, her truest and most faithful companions, and her almost as faithful husband, Joe. Megyn is also the author of the award-winning Sabrina Vaughn thriller series, written under the name Maegan Beaumont.
Another great addition to this series and a really nice introduction to Wentworth and Kaitlyn. Wentworth makes an appearance in earlier books and it’s good to finally see his story.
As always, I have to be prepared for these books to rip my heart out a bit or at least they press on it. This one is no different, my heart really ached for Kait and what she’s dealing with on multiple levels. I loved Went’s care with her and approach to her in response, finding the real *her* amongst all the crap.
While there’s some heavy moments that wrench your heart, there’s also a lot of sexy, fun, and swoony moments - the first morning she finds him and that whole scene…I was internally simultaneously screaming and giggling, definitely grinning as I read. I was drawn into them as characters and their dynamic already by 25% in. Their notes, the flirtations, all of it is great. I also love that Went has a little care-and-protect streak going and everyone in his life knows what type of person he is in that way. He’s hot but also adorable.
It is a bit of a slow burn but once they get there, wheeeeew! 🥵 This series is also known for some spicy spice and this book delivers!
This is one of a duet for Wentworth and Kait, so it does feel like we’re only half done. It is good on its own and I feel fulfilled with what is in this book so far, but it ends on a cliffhanger (as expected) with book 10 coming out later on and finishing up their story. While this book 9 didn’t punch me in the gut, I’m sure that is to come in book 10 because it’s clearly about to get wild.
I was also happy to have some cameos from one of my fave book boyfriends, Conner, in this 😍 If you haven’t read the other Gilroy Clan books, I do highly recommend them.
Just be aware this book deals with some abuse/control (not from MMC or FMC and not with each other), as well as grief/guilt related to death - there’s a heavy context but that is kind of what I like about this series.
Highly recommend this book if you like an emotional/serious but also flirty and sexy/spicy story. While this is book 9 in the series, it can definitely be read without reading the whole series - moreso than the other books, IMO. Solid 4/5 ⭐️ for me, do check it out!!
I have received an advance copy of this book (which I would have purchased anyway!) and have left this honest review.
I was so excited to be back in the Gilroy Clan world. Wentworth’s character turned out to be a little different than I expected from his character we see in the previous books but he’s still likable (most of the time). I’ll say it again, though, these Gilroy Clan men are all just a little unhinged lol.
A couple things I liked about this book: we got more background on some of the characters we’ve seen previously, and I love that… we have a fight scene (love it when the hero kicks ass!)… and even tho it ends on a cliffhanger, it’s a good note to end on. Hate that I read this immediately and now I have to wait for book 10 but it is what it is lol. What’s done is done.
Was Went my fave? Absolutely not. Ryan & Conner are still top of the list of Gilroy guys. But I enjoyed the book enough none-the-less. I’ve enjoyed this series overall.
I have been waiting through 12 books for Went's book and it was definitely worth it!
Wentworth Fiorella has been a background character in the Gilroy Clan series and the Kings of Brighton Series and he's always grabbed my attention and so when Megyn announced that he was getting his own book I was so excited and I've ben patiently (not so much) waiting for this book to come out.
Wentworth is guy that just wants to live his life and not have to worry about his family name or it's money. Unfortunately, that isn't the way of the world. After his ex girlfriend get's into some trouble and drags him into it with her, his friend and lawyer Connor Gilroy strongly suggests that he disappear for a while. Which he gladly does into the mountains of Montana.
Kaitlyn is stuck in a world where no one sees her worth beyond being a "cowboys" wife which means shutting up, taking abuse in all forms, watching her dreams die, and being a doormat for every misogynistic a-hole on the mountain. This world includes her father, her sister, her supposed best friend - the only one she can someone count on is her mom who unfortunately can't help her too much because she is stuck in the same life.
But Wentworth will do anything to help Kaitlyn out. Let her continue to use the cabin he's staying in to continue her nursing studies. Help her with a kinky bucket list and make her an off the wall out of his mind wild proposal that will save her from what awaits her after he leaves...
This is book 9 in the Gilroy Clan series and I have to say it’s just as amazing as the first in the series. This is Went and Kait’s story. Went’s life in L.A. has blown up fantastically and he needs a place to lay low until his “lawyer” (yes Con makes an appearance) can fix it. Went call’s his brother who lives in Montana for a favor finding him a place to hide out. The cabin he’s staying in is owned by the Barrett family. Kait Barrett is the black sheep of her family, this book touches on why her father is estranged from her and her guilt that keeps her in Montana and doing as her father asks. I think the next book will dive deeper into this as it feels like it just touches the surface of all the trauma Kait has had to face. Kait is in charge of keeping Went’s cabin clean and stocked with food. The first interaction goes as you would expect from two people keeping secrets. As time passes they are both drawn to each other but both know a deadline is looming. The book does end on a cliffhanger but it’s a satisfying cliffhanger in my opinion. I can’t wait for the next book to come out to see where these characters end up and what other Gilroy Clan characters come into play. I’ve loved this series and hope it continues for many more years. You could read this book without having read the previous other 8 books but they are well worth the read.
Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 POV: dual Tropes: forbidden romance, marry me instead, touch her and die, different worlds, tattooed giant, skinny dipping, secrets & lies, slow(ish) burn, small town, billionaire, hotel heir, arranged marriage, tattoo apprentice
I met Wentworth Fiorella on the second worst day of my life…
After breaking up with his girlfriend, daughter of a B list celebrity, Went receives a call from her in a panic. Being the good guy that he is, Went goes to the rescue. Only for it to backfire and the blame is placed on him. Connor Gilroy makes a cameo as Went’s lawyer and advises him to try to lay low and off everyone’s radar. As the Hawthorn hotel heir, living in the public eye comes at a cost. Went decides to reconnect with one of his brothers and hides out in the middle of nowhere Montana. Thinking that shacking up at his half brother’s boss’s hunting cabin will give him the quiet he longs for, imagine his surprise when he finds out who has been tasked with cleaning up after him and ensuring all his needs are met…
Living like a stereotypical middle child, Kaitlyn won’t ever be her dad’s favourite like her older brother and she sure isn’t his little princess like her younger sister Abbey. Her dad blames her for two outcomes that she had no control over and isn’t afraid to show his dislike for her. From doing the farm chores and taking care of the home she rarely has time for herself or finding what she truly enjoys. After being tasked with ensuring that the new guest at Northpoint is well taken care of, she realizes that the city boy isn’t quiet as he seems…and maybe she doesn’t want to be just another ranchers wife.
Standing at 6’5” with piercing black eyes and covered in tattoos, Went can only pray that no one recognizes him. After meeting Kaitlyn, he quickly falls for her and her true beauty. Something he isn’t used to seeing, with being surrounded by the socialites of his parent’s circle. After finding out that Kait is set marry another ranchers son, Went makes it his mission to show Kaitlyn that she can go after what she wants and doesn’t have to settle to be an after thought to anyone and what she wants matters.
I feel like I’ve waited FOREVER for Went and Kait’s story! Be warned Wanting Wentworth (as with all the odd numbered Gilroy books) ends in a cliffhanger! I have loved Went from the first moment we met him and his book made me fall in love with him all over again! As part of an interconnected series this is a stand alone but I HIGHLY recommend reading the rest of the Gilroy series!
I didn't find the Gilroys until Ryan and Grace, but from the start of Pushing Patrick, I've loved how she writes her characters. They're so emotional, real, and complicated. Went and Kait have been my favorite background characters with separate appearances throughout all the books and when I finally had that aha moment that they were connected in the past, I couldn't wait to find out more. When their ARC was finally dropped into my email, I started binge reading the Gilroys and Brighton series to prolong my anticipation and remind myself why I love their characters so much. And this book was so worth the wait!! Kait bears so much responsibility and grief and I was so heartbroken by her past. Went is such a caring and supportive character and seriously the way he kept telling her to ask for anything just about had me swooning. The books in this series are written as duets and I was anxiously dreading the cliffhanger and the wait for the next book so thank you Megyn for not totally ripping my heart out, lol. I'll just be here eagerly waiting for WHATEVER you decide to write next!
I want to be oh so wrong! Megyn does it again with this next book in The Gilroy Clan series. I wondered how she would make this one stand out as far as Went's character goes, and she blew me away. I love that she makes all her characters so special and unique in how they think, talk, love, and want to be loved. Much like the others, Wanting Wentworth will have you laughing, crying, burning & yearning.
Went is a calm, strong, and confident man. As an artist, I love how she brought his artistic talent alive in this book (much like she did with Cari's character in other books) and used it as part of the slow-burn moments. I don't want to spoil anything, but it was a surprise that left my mouth gaping and leaving me feeling much like Kait did.
I also loved Kait. She is a good woman with so much on her shoulders. I love how her mind works (especially regarding tattoos) and her exploration and curiosity. I found myself wanting to know more about her family, her future, her past, all of it. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Another great book to the series. I have been waiting for Went's story since they mentioned the painting on his wall in his hotel room. I don't know what it is about these dirty talking tattooed, possessive and protective men that are like giant teddy bears that are so hot. If you read other books in the series you would know who these two are you don't have to but I would recommend it. This is the past and based on what events in Wentworth's life that brought him to hide out at Kaitlyn's family ranch. Also Kaitlyn's story and what her family life has been like. This surprised me because a younger Kaitlyn is nothing like the one who is Ryan's caretaker. Cheers to Megyn to another addition to this series that once I started I couldn't put it down. The only negative thing I could think of is I have to wait to get the second part of these two story.
I received a copy from BookSprout and read through Kindle Documents.
In true Megyn Ward fashion, Wanting Wentworth was a glorious, angsty, emotional mess of beautiful, well rounded characters and a fabulous storyline coupled with stellar word building. Read it. I think that's really all you need to know, LOL. No, seriously. .. You don’t have to marry him, Sunshine… not if you marry me first. Went made it sound so simple… or maybe I just wanted it to be simple because by the time he said it, I was already half in love with him. I knew what saying yes to him would mean. That my father would disown me. That I’d have to leave the only home I’d ever known. That I could never go home again. I knew that wanting Wentworth was going to change my life forever. What I didn't know is that falling in love with him would be the death of me. How could you NOT want to read this? It's a slow burn. The story is stellar. The cliffy is perfect. Wanting Wentworth gets ALLLLLL the stars! And Went is most assuredly my new BBF!
This was Wentworth and Kaitlyn’s story. From the very moment she saw him, she knew Went was going to be trouble and the last thing she needed in her life, was trouble—but she needed him if she’s going to figure a way out of the arranged marriage her father was forcing her into. “You don’t have to marry him, Sunshine… not if you marry me first”. Went made it sound so simple… or maybe she just wanted it to be simple because by the time he said it, she was already half in love with him. She knew what saying yes to him would mean. That her father would disown her. That she would have to leave the only home she’s ever known. That she could never go home again. She knew that wanting Wentworth was going to change her life forever. What she didn't know was that falling in love with him would be the death of her. It was an entertaining read. And voluntarily leaving this review.
Wow!! I am so in love with this group of characters in this series. Megan knows how to capture us within the first chapter, to make us not want to put the book down til you read the last word. And even then, you don’t want the story to end. This book was no different.
We waited a long time to finally get Went’s story and it was so much more than I expected. You will have a wide range of emotions running through you as you dig deeper in to this fantastic love story.
I always thought that Ryan would be my all time favorite character in the Gilroy clan but I was very much mistaken. Went is by far everything I wanted him to be. He is so 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I am also loving how Kait is finding herself and starting to think about what she wants.
I absolutely CAN NOT wait for the rest of Went and Kait’s story. As I always say at the end of my reviews to Megan, I bow to you my Queen 👑
Wentworth... I mean... WENT. WORTH. This man can make a brick crumble. The way he wants to protect Kait, someone who is so entrenched in her existing world that she can't believe there is a person out there who actually CARES about what she wants.
Megyn brings the spice in this next installment of the Gilroy Clan! She has a way of writing each character to perfection. Enough depth, warmth, humanity, that you want to personally know each and every one of them. I was so desperately waiting for the launch of this book and Wentworths story. He deserves so much of the compassion he gives to those he loves and this story cements that even more.
Warning there is a bit of a cliffhanger, but Megyn hasn't let me down. So now let me go revisit the rest of the clan!
I’ve read the entire Gilroy Clan series by Megyn Ward, and was anticipating Kaitlyn and Wentworth's book 9, Wanting Wentworth, in the best way! Wentworth is the ultimate dreamy MMC - tattooed, protective, and possessive in all the best ways. The slow burn between these two had me hooked, and the secrets they were hiding kept me guessing until the surprising cliffhanger. Now I’m counting down the days until Keeping Kaitlyn comes out to see how it all wraps up. Seriously, don't sleep on this series - it's a must-read!
Thank you @megynward for the ebook ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
Kaitlyn and Wentworth meet when he rents her father's cabin. He is hiding out because of a scandal created by his ex-girlfriend. Kaitlyn and her father have a dysfunctional relationship, and he is forcing her to marry a man she can't stand. She and Wentworth have the opportunity of getting to know each other and as their relationship blossoms Wentworth gives her another alternative instead of having to marry Brock. Will she take Brock up on his proposal and will it lead them to happiness.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love how Megyn brings her characters special talents out and gives more to the storyline. I want to say that Megyn saved the best for now but I absolutely love the entire Gilroy Clan so……but I will say that she gave us just what she knew we wanted for both Went and Kait!
I loved the book and was so excited for the author to continue this series with wentworth. I always found him intriguing when he made cameo appearances in the other books. I was disappointed to find that it ends in a cliffhanger but I probably should have expected it considering that everyone has two books in this series. I can’t wait for book two.
I’ve been obsessed with the Gilroy’s since the beginning and Megyn has delivered AGAIN! I can’t wait for Kait’s half If you haven’t given the Gilroy’s a chance, you need too!
Megyn Ward never ceases to amaze with her emotional, angsty, and sexy stories and her incredibly well written characters that one just can't help falling in love with.
Taking place before books 1-8, Wanting Wentworth follows the story of Kaitlyn and Wentworth when they first meet, both wishing to escape their world's they live in.
Hiding out in the middle of no where to escape the paparazzi after being wrongfully accused of causing an accident that put a man in critical condition, Went never expected to find himself falling in love with the ranchers daughter who he was renting a cabin from. It would never work, though. They were doomed. Had been from the very beginning. He knew that, but that didn't matter. He knew what he wanted. He just hoped it was what she wanted, too.
"You don't have to marry him, Sunshine, not if you marry me first."
All Kait ever wanted to do was escape her small town and all the side glances and rumors that no matter how many years went by, it never seemed to be forgotten. Sneaking her laptop to the hunting cabin to take online college classes after her chores, hoping to finally find a way out, her plans are suddenly derailed when her father rents out the cabin for a month. Unfortunately, that's not even the worst part. Turns out her father also brokered a deal to marry her off to her ex-boyfriend, who is the last man on earth she would ever want to marry. But what she wanted never mattered. Not until Went. To him, it was all that mattered.
"What do you want, Kait? You, not me. Not Brock. Not your father. You. What do you want?"
"You, I want you."
Wanting Wentworth was an amazing story that I never wanted to end. It was well worth the wait, and I can't possibly recommend it enough. It's a must-read.
Please note that this is only part 1 of a duet, so it does end on a cliffhanger.
