Catherine Harris can't think of a time she *wasn't* in love with Luke Van Buren. Unfortunatly, he's too stubborn to see it. He treats her like a kid sister and clearly doesn't see her as a woman. Cat tells Luke she wants to meet Mr. Right - with his help!
HE WAS THE PERFECT TEACHER...
Luke can't believe his bad luck. He's watched out for Cat for years. Now she's older and gorgeous, the feelings he has sure aren't brotherly! So when she asks him to teach her the art of seduction...well, he's more than a little reluctant.
Always an adventurer in life as well as writing, New York Times best-selling author Cherry Adair moved halfway across the globe from Cape Town, South Africa to the United States in her early years to become a interior designer. Now a resident of the Pacific Northwest she shares the award- winning adventures of her fictional T-FLAC counter terrorism operatives with her readers.
Cherry settled in beautiful San Francisco, where she started what eventually became a thriving interior design business. "I loved being a designer because it was varied and creative, and I enjoyed working with the public." A voracious reader when she was able to carve out the time, Cherry found her brain crowded with characters and stories of her own. "Eventually," she says, "the stories demanded to be told."
When asked why she chooses to write romantic action adventure, she says, "Who says you can’t have adventure and a great love life? Of course if you’re talking about an adventurous love life, that’s another thing altogether. I write romantic suspense coupled heart-pounding adventure because I like to entertain, and nothing keeps readers happier than a rollercoaster read, followed by a happy ending."
Popular on the workshop circuit, Cherry gives lively classes on writing and the writing life. Pulling no punches when asked how to become a published writer, Cherry insists, "Sit your butt in the chair and write. There's no magic to it. Writing is hard work. It isn't for sissies or whiners."
Cherry loves to spend time at home. A corner desk keeps her focused on writing, but the windows behind her, with a panoramic view of the front gardens, are always calling her to come outside and play. Her office has nine-foot ceilings, a fireplace, a television and built-in bookcases that will house approximately 3,500 paperback books.
"What can I say? My keeper shelf has been breeding in the middle of the night, rather like drycleaners' wire clothes hangers.”
Finally someone creates characters who are ordinary citizens. They could be me and you. The hunks could be the contractor who comes to your home to give you a bid.
This is the story of Catherine Harris and Luke Van Buren. She's a work from home gal and he's a made it on his own remodeling contractor. Together they're fantastic!
Seducing Mr. Right is a moderately tame romance from super author, Cherry Adair. This is the first Harlequin novel of her's that I've read and, frankly, I'm impressed. It's still all Cherry – the snappy come-backs, heated scenes, and great story lines.
Cat (Catherine) is a character most ladies can identify with. Forever uncertain about herself, never happy with her body, super self-conscious – flaws everyone can relate to. Luke is a man's man, great business and gorgeous body. He leaves his socks under the dining table to be found another day. Sound familiar?? Yeah, in my house too.
On the proverbial reader's scale of 1 to10, I give this book a 9. It would have gotten a 10, had there been a sequel! LOL – Wish a secondary character, Nick, would have his own tale to tell. I'd enjoy reading about the dame that tames that man. Oh well.
Catherine is a be-freckled, red-headed, twenty-something year old virgin who's in love with her stepbrother. Luke is the protective, successful, architect stepbrother who's in love with his stepsister. Cat sets out to seduce Luke by making him jealous. Lots of missed communication cues and silliness. This is cute, but not anything spectacular.
My least favorite part of the story: The following passage, which brought to mind images of the Full House gang from 80's television: Luke wore bright yellow suspenders over a collarless blue-and-white pinstripe shirt, navy Dockers and boat shoes, no socks. Nick was decked out in a double-breasted charcoal suit. Both looked hunky and gorgeous. Catherine felt like a thorn between two roses.
It didn't help my imagination that the story was set in San Francisco. Between the goody-two-shoes mentality of most of the characters, the setting and the outfits, I was ready to pull out my Aqua Net hairspray.
Best part of the story: The surprise Vegas airport wedding, by a midget Elvis Presley. That was cheese-tastic!
There is no leading up to anything in this one it just starts with a bang and keeps goin! I just about died when Luke and his date du'jour fell on Cat(naked by the way) in his bed in the midst of shedding their clothes and kissing for all they were worth. Too funny, and can you say awwwwkward!! In a nutshell this story is about Catherine Harris "Cat" and Luke Van Buren. His Dad and her Mom used to be married for a minute and Cat has been in love with Luke as long as she can remember. Luke on the other hand is slow on the uptake about his non-familia feelings for Cat as he struggles to honor his role as protector/big brother a role he promised to his father before he passed. Shenanigans ensue, sexual frustration mounts, and enough lack of communication that it'll make your head spin. Yet Cherry Adair manages to balance all those factors wonderfully for a delightful short read that will leave you smiling.
When Catherine Harris' mother married Luke Van Buren's father, Cat was ecstatic that she would be gaining a big brother. It took a long time, but Luke finally accepted her. Now all grown up, Cat's feelings have changed. She is in love with Luke, but he still treats her like his kid sister, not seeing the woman she has become. Cat hopes to change that by asking Luke to help her find a husband. Luke promised his father that he would always protect Cat, but his feelings for her are anything but brotherly. Now that Cat has moved into Luke's apartment, he's finding it hard to keep his hands and his feelings to himself.
This was a cute story. This plot may have been used many times before, but these characters made it work. I liked both Cat and Luke, but my favorite character was Luke's best friend, Nick. After Cat confided her feelings to Nick, he does everything he can to help her including making Luke very jealous. I wish Cherry Adair had written a book for him. My rating: 4 Stars.
I expected to like this so much more. It had all of my boxes checked. 1. psuedo-forbidden/stepbrother 2. Using jealousy to seduce unwitting partner Check and check. However, it fell flat. There was tension written on the pages, but they never leapt out at me because each thought of desire was followed with an "I can't, am brother. Rawr."
She calls him "turkey" and "my darling dragon". It's odd. Original, but with no context as to these nicknames, #ODD.
The clothing descriptions are odd as hell, even for a book written in the 90s where fashion was...er...diverse. He wears "bright yellow suspenders over a collarless blue-and-white pinstripe shirt, navy Dockers and boat shoes, no socks." Da fuq, Becky?
He also runs the tip of his tongue across her eyelashes. What? Why? How? Why? No.
We never learned what happened with Babsie. Don't tease.
Adorable ending though, super cute wedding. And no, I didn't spoiler tag that because, hello, it's a Harley.
The book begins with the H bringing home a woman to his bedroom and kissing her while the h is laying in his bed waiting for him to realize she is there. Turns out she is his step sister who has been taking care of H’s dad for the last 5 years and at the same time making H rich thanks to her amazing day trading skills and oh yeah she is a virgin. The H treats her abominably as a kid and then as an untouchable sister after she turned 17 threw up when he kissed her.
Otro hombre confundido que no sabe lo que quiere, solo queda darle un empujoncito o uno grande para que entre en razón, de estos hombres abundan mucho sobre todo en estado de negación
First of let me start with my positive notes for this book!
It was fun and entertaining to read. A really lighthearted book. I was delighted when I read some of the scenes. Let me start out by saying there are some incredibly cute scenes, which had me smiling and giggling like a silly girl.
Something that threw me off in this book is the romance department in it. It was....missing. Don't get me wrong it is a romance story, but I think our Author focused "too much" showing us that they have a great friendship, which I didn't mind, but it took away from the book a little. I just wanted....more! I really like the hero-Luke. He is just...sweet and incredible. I was very amused and pleased by how jealous he is in some scenes. For example Catherine asked for some...pointers on how to kiss. Nick (who is Luke's best friend) was playing along with Catherine, so they could make Luke realize that Catherine is the girl for him. I really like how Luke said...NO.NO.NO BAD IDEA.No!(about the kissing lessons) So he basically refuses to teach her,and then Nick comes in, and omg Luke's reaction is just adorable.
What I would have really liked in the book to be included was if there were higher risks. For example, something unexpected, an element of shock etc, because whit out it, it made the book just a little bit more predictable.
My rating: 2.5 out of 5 :)
I think you should give it a try, if you are looking for something that will get you into a better mood :)
+ here is the back cover for this book! *got it from Mrs.Cherry Adair's lovely website* ...*side note* her website is FANTASTIC! I fell in love..HOT! :) *just had to say it :)
Anyways here it is:
SHE WANTED SOME POINTERS ... Catherine Harris can't think of a time she wasn't in love with Luke Van Buren.
Unfortunately, he's too stubborn to see it. He treats her like a kid sister and clearly doesn't see her as a woman...with needs. Determined to get her man. Cat tells Luke she wants to meet Mr. Right, with his help!
HE WAS THE PERFECT TEACHER
Luke can't believe his bad luck. He's watched out for Cat for years. Now she's older and gorgeous, the feelings he has sure aren't brotherly! So when she asks him to teach her the art of seduction...well, he's more than a little reluctant. But when could he ever say no to Cat!
This was a cute series romance by Adair. Love the storyline of childhood friends who have treated each other like siblings for years because when they were younger the age difference between them made romance inappropriate only to find out in adulthood that they are nursing unresolved romantic feelings. Luke Van Buren is the typical male knucklehead who can't get past seeing his foster sister as a little girl even though she is clearly all woman now. It takes her pretending to woo other men using his dating advice before his jealousy makes his true feelings for her too hard to ignore. An enjoyable quick read, but if you are looking for a deeper plot or more engaging character development, then you should look to Adair's Lodestone or T-FLAC single title romances.

An excellent story! You had to just keep reminding yourself "they're not related, they're not related" so you could escape the ick factor sometimes. Cherry did a good job of reiterating that fact so that helped.
The story had it's funny moments and you knew Cat and Luke were destined to be. Everyone could see it up until the last chapter or so when it went heart breaking on their eventual get together.
My favourite parts were the twist when Luke wanted to make Nick jealous and of course, Luke's eventual realization that he was Cat's Mr. Right. Awesome.
Catherine's been in love with Luke since forever. But the problem is, he's her stepbrother. Willing to do anything to make him see her as a woman, not just a younger stepsister, she tried to seduced him!
This book is very sweet and I think Luke's a bit too sensitive. But the rest, I liked him. But to be honest, I think Cat's desperate act is kind of turn off. I liked her way of making him jealous, but seduced him? Nu-uh, don't like it at all.
This book has a possessive hero + an inexperience heroine... which is almost always what I look for in books..... Even so, I almost gave up on this book halfway. Cat is too patient while Luke is a little too "blind" to Cat's seduction. Luckily there's good ole Nick with his humor which drag me through the end.
Love the ending.... It's so romantic
“The top of the cake held a small basket filled to the brim with eggs. On one side was a tiny orange crab. On the other, a plump turkey.” How sweet! Thumbs up to loyal friends like Nick, can't wait to read his story ;)
Wow .. this is a book which i really like it very much.. so cute temptation and very well scenes which make smiles and giddy with silly romance happy kind..
Both char are awesome and cute .. and love this story and flow writer style everything is very nice .. just only its very light heated romance no twist no major turn .. simple love story with very less complication .. Though frankly i love romance like this which not have major issues .. :) and lots of seduction ..
I wish to give it 4.9 star and 1 is only i kept . .. bcaz its a bit simple romance :)
All Catherine Harris has ever wanted is for her step brother, Luke Van Buren, to love her. Not as a sister, but as a woman. She has decided to do whatever it takes to make him see she is the perfect one for him. Since Cat was in her teens, Luke has "noticed" her, but sure didn't want to. What kind of brother is he? Now Cat asks Luke to help her find a husband, then tells him she has met "Mr. Right". Can Luke convince Cat he's the man for the position? This was a fun read!
Almost missed reviewing this book, which would have been a shame as I greatly enjoyed this book. The dialogue was funny, as were several scenes. I liked the characters and plot. The misunderstandings from the past and their misinterpretation of the same situation had me thinking of how much our own take of an incident is coloured with our own filters.....Back to the review, I anticipate reading and enjoying this book again, so 5 stars!
I loved this. The only issues I have is that 1. it's too neat in that they both liked eachother for so long and 2. the conclusion. I loved it right up to when he sits bolt up right in bed and realises whats going on. I hated the scene with how they confessed to eachother, it was a bit cringe worthy.
This was the first quick romance book I ever read. I've been reading them ever since.
Cherry has the uncanny knack for mixing humor and adventure and lots of...hot monkey sex ;-)
You love both Luke and Cat from the beginning... But Nick, ah my sweet Nick - He will always be my very first Book boyfriend ... Nick never fails to make you smile and giggle.
Seducing Mr. Right by Cherry Adair Innocence. "Unbearably sweet. Poignant. Sinfully rich." This is a romance that makes you sigh in contentment in the end. Girl gets guy. Guy gets girl. Love.
