Laim-Saga #3

Emperor’s Folly

Rate this book
Are you rich but lacking power? Don't worry—soon you'll be poor again.
Wealth is only reserved for the powerful. If you stumble over a lump of gold, you should get rid of it quickly. Or, if you want to keep the precious ore, you have to be powerful enough to defend it.

I didn't just find a chunk of gold. No . . . a whole mountain of gold and diamonds would be a more accurate way of describing my phenomenal spaceship. But Beatrice and I are fair game—we are neither citizens of one of the major empires, nor do we belong to the cartels. You might call us a helpless treat amidst hungry wolves. And now all galactic rules, big and small, want my wealth.

Aybiline I. Dahlson has a PhD in Physics. She is also a businesswoman and bestselling author. Her unconventional protagonists tend to be young women who become heroines by happenstance. Dahlson lets them make stormy journeys, where they experience thrilling adventures on foreign worlds—sometimes in the distant future, sometimes in the recent past, and other times in the modern day. On their wanderings through space and time, these heroines encounter aliens as well as familiar beings, always in search of happiness. They strive for justice and are ready to protect the weak.

Dahlson’s unusual science fiction books are simultaneously fascinating space operas, strategic military novels and epic heroic sagas. Readers can live through episodes full of poignant emotions and moments of tingling suspense, while the technical details round off the stories with elements of surprise.

Aybiline Dahlson now lives in France. She loves cats with character, her wild garden, good wine and good food. And she writes with all of her heart.

continuing a fun space opera adventure

The MC and her sister continue to try and make the way in galactic society, but enemies continue to accumulate. A king, a banking cartel and their futures trading conglomerate, a planet of secret telepaths, and an organized crime syndicate add their names to the opposition. Of course some good things occur, marriage, consummated relationships and some lucrative business ventures. They even meet some in-laws. Still its not easy for a queen to go on a honeymoon when you have to fight in a death match, while there is an open assassination contract out on you on top of all your other issues both personal and political.

What fun!!

Good thing you’ve got superior tech and some top notch allies to assist as you dimension hop to confound your enemies.

The patriarchy has been obvious for at least 4000 years. This book takes a decade ago in which a young naïve teenage woman would continue the hero’s journey to become the Cinderella bride of the prince who conquers the evil father. In this updated version, the young woman is recorded by the prince and with her passion and sexuality, as well as intelligence speed and combativeness overcomes evil one of the best alternative universities

An absolutely brilliant series spoilt by some appalling translation errors. The original German for Book 6 was released in October 2022. Why do we have to wait until June 2025 for the translation to be done?
If it weren't for the translation errors I would give it five stars.

Well contrived plot.

A good ripping yarn with well developed characters. Perhaps too much emphasis on disasters of one sort or another, but godlike abilities makes the outcome of such violence almost inconsequential.

A very good book

I enjoyed this book from cover to cover. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I’m sure it will be just as interesting.
