ebook Review – Dead Lock – Diane Capri After staying up all night in my hotel room reading this explosive story on my iPad, I need to invest in the physical books of the entire series because they all are keepsakes.
Author Diane Capri has delivered another skillful adventure thriller in suspense and excitement with book five in the Michael Flint series, entitled “Dead Lock.”
The story begins with palpable tension and high stakes with protagonist Michael Flint – the heir hunter – who is thrusted into a dangerous investigation that spans continents and pits him against ruthless billionaires.
What made this read shine is Capri’s ability to blend relentless action with sharp intelligence. The plot is intricate yet easy to follow, the pacing is electric, and the characters feel vivid and real. Flint is the typical hero in the tale which the reader roots for – he is resourceful, determined, and human enough to make you care deeply about what he is doing in the story.
The settings—from Kentucky’s Bluegrass country to Havana, Cuba’s atmospheric streets—are described with cinematic detail, pulling the reader right into the heart of the story. Every twist is surprising, and the finale is both shocking and satisfying.
Capri’s writing is crisp, compelling, and impossible to put down. Dead Lock is not just an adventure action thriller, it’s a rollercoaster ride that keeps the reader guessing until the very last page.
Fast-paced with clever plots and unforgettable characters, Dead Lock deserves a permanent spot on my bookshelf – I just need to purchase the physical book instead of the ebook on my iPad.
Diane Capri proves once again why she’s a bestselling author. I love her work…
A wild roller coaster ride! One that starts at the top of the highest hill and keeps accelerating from there. A mega yacht, cruising in the remote South Pacific, passed down by a late billionaire to his trusted daughter-in-law but stolen by the rich man’s self-absorbed son. Flint is called in to retrieve the ship, and he does it, but not without a lot of gunfire, smoke, and embarrassment for the son. Flint manages to create yet another dangerous enemy in the process. Then, another billionaire recruits, for an outrageous sum, Flint and his company to find his two brothers, who died in a horrific fire twenty years ago. Or did they? Why did the second billionaire wait so long to search out the truth? Why, once Flint begins the search, is he running into mercenaries, probable government agencies, and a lot of firepower with extreme prejudice? And are the two cases related? The action is electric with much of the now-familiar cast engaged. There is a long trail of bullet casings, spent shells, attack choppers, private jets, and deadly situations along the way. Diane Capri is a master at character development and deftly incorporating her Hunt for Reacher universe into an intricately woven and satisfying plot. The tension builds throughout the book, culminating in a suspense-filled climax. Don’t miss this one!
Michael Flint. He finds people who don’t want to be found. And he’s the best, which is why billionaire Jason Fisher contacts him with a seemingly impossible task. When Fisher was a child, his home was set on fire. No one was supposed to be at home, plans changed when one of his siblings became ill. His three younger siblings and their teenage babysitter were at home and presumed to be dead. The fire was believed to be retribution for his father’s cooperation with the DEA. Now as a tech billionaire, one of Fisher’s company’s programs has given him the idea that they may be alive. At the same time, Flint has recently discovered the identity of his mother, who abandoned him when he was a toddler. She was murdered in Texas, and he is searching for information that could solve her cold case. He travels to several locations, both in the US and Cuba. Someone is after him, sending well trained men to deter him from one of these cases. He has no idea who or which case they are associated with. This is a fascinating book with well-developed characters. One of the things I particularly like is that characters from the author’s Hunt for Reacher series also tie in with this book. There have been crossovers earlier in both series with these characters, including one of my favorites, Gaspar. This book is very fast paced and you won’t be able to put it down!
As usual, Diane Capri has captured the way to keep readers entertained. Once I was able to start reading this story it was hard to put down and maintain usual living functions; Like doing laundry and other mundane household chores. Michael Flint is hired by a very wealthy man to find his siblings that were supposedly lost in a fire along with their babysitter, but he thinks he saw a picture of a brother in a ATM photo. This story has all of the bells and whistles of a superbly written novel. But it and read it. You won't be sorry.
I give Dead Lock a solid 4 stars! It’s a non stop adrenaline rush! Flint never disappoints and I love the continuation of characters Drake, Gaspar and I could have used a little more Scarlet and Maddy in this story. I felt the ending was a bit rushed so I rated 4 stars. It is still a must read! Looking forward the next book in the series though I hate waiting a year for it.
This might be the best story Diane has written to date! She had me at paragraph 4. The flow of the story, the involvement of all our favorite characters, the unexpected dual story line makes this one of the best ever read, not just one of her best. Drake, Flint, and Gaspar working together is always a plus but their efforts definitely make this one magnificent! Can't wait for Cold Impact
This was the best Flint saga of all. He was able to find out what happened to his mother and who did it. He was able to find Fishers brothers and sisters. Owen ended up paying with his life . Good result. 10 stars plus!!!!. Thanks Carl Clause
I couldn’t even finish this book. There is no plot, no human interest and nothing but the body count of these nameless, faceless antagonists. Blah 😒 Everything I hate about this writing. If you make it to page 165 and the story line is consistent, then hell … let it go.
