When my war buddy, Pete, asks me to help protect his claim on a silver mine from outlaws who've killed some of his men, I've got his back.
But when I reach Prescott, it's clear that something else is going on. The "outlaw" is a businessman who claims Pete is the bad guy. And the businessman's wife is a stunningly beautiful woman who fogs my mind and wants me to switch sides.
As more hired killers pour into town, tensions run high. I know all of it is leading to an explosive showdown that will test my loyalties and could cost me my life. One thing is when the bullets fly, and bodies hit the ground, the only winner will be the town undertaker.
Rambler is the first book in a new action-packed series. Don't miss it!
Rambler was an excellent choice for my first venture into western fiction in decades. Mr. Winchester has crafted a fast-paced story that gallops along toward the inevitable showdown, but not so fast as to throw the reader from the saddle. Set in a time when life was relatively simple, brutal, and all too often short, Rambler has to work through complex relationships that challenge his principles while keeping his gun loaded at all times. Rambler is a fun read, and I look forward to his next adventure.
