“Most people believe there are two ways to react to a crisis. Allow it to consume you or come out stronger. But there’s a third option, love. Some of us learn to love the fire.”
Christina Palmer has no time for distractions. Between caring for her mother as she battles lung cancer and volunteering for the community’s eco-consciousness committee, romance is the last thing on her mind.
Jacob "Iron Fist" Sewell is an amateur MMA fighter desperate to prove himself. Grappling with a criminal past and anger issues, he’s fighting not just in the ring, but for his family’s respect.
When Jacob’s community service hours put him in Christina’s path, their worlds collide, sparking an undeniable attraction. But Christina’s responsibilities begin to pull her in every direction, and Jacob’s rush to prove himself pushes him to the edge of self-destruction.
As their feelings grow, Jacob’s anger issues rear up while Christina’s mother’s condition declines, leaving them both distraught. Can they come together and grow stronger from their crises, or will they get burned in the fire?
A strong and very interesting story. I think the author handled the emotional sections exceptionally. In particular, the sexual aspects were very detailed. The anger management was well woven into the book.
It was a very quick read but I knew that ahead of reading.
Overall a good read with strong writing.

small town romance mma romance he falls first grumpy sunshine
this book was good. it was a really quick read. jacob a mma fighter with anger issues runs into christina a girl taking care of her sick mother who also volunteers. christina has no time for a relationship or distractions while caring for her mother who is very sick but jacob is insistent and she gives in. turns out she likes him quite a bit... some things happen and she withdraws from him. its a hea. a bit rushed at the end for me
This was a great short story I managed to read in in a hour and half.
It does feel a bit instalove but as you go through the book that shows less and it’s actually a beautiful story. Shows love, family struggles, death, cancer, addiction, violence. Please check the triggers as they is quiet a lot.
I really enjoyed it and I would read more from this writer in the future.
It as a bit of spice which is enough in a short book.
