The Jellal backstory I needed. And the stakes got interesting. Fairy tail has a special place in my heart and it’s always a fun time for me so it’s a 5. It may not meet other people’s standards but it always meets mine and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Wow. So much is going on in this volume that I can't remember if I tagged it all. (Going page-by-page seems tedious, though. Maybe on a re-read.)
I don't remember if I tagged Athena as a robot or not... she's clearly not a living thing, but neither is she strictly speaking a "robot"/cyborg/android/etc. Mechanical golem? Hmm. I'll figure it out if it becomes relevant. Heck, there are reanimated characters (like God Serena on the cover), but they aren't as such "zombies" either.
My Kaiju No. 8, Vol. 11review still holds for the shounen portion, though I like how it's handled in this specific series with the creative Freaky Friday attack. It's neat seeing the characters think about having to fight as different people, especially ! I kind of wish that character pulled off the attack more often, because it's funny, but I totally get why they wouldn't let him keep doing it.
A pretty good episode of the series! As per usual, not recommended for complete newcomers, who will be totally lost.
This is what I liked to call peak Fairy Tail. We get the beginning of a new arc as different fights are being set up, which lead us to some of the best and most satisfying scenes concluding in insane character development.
As our main characters separate to find Gold Owl, defeat the duke and ultimately end Veries, they all end up with different members of the guilde of alchemists. And the different fights happening were just so fun and so original. I especially loved the Lucy/Gray fight, because it's a duo I really love and we don't see nearly often enough. I love the way they had to learn to fight in other bodies, and it was just a really fun fight.
But of course, my favorite moment of the entire volume has to be the final chapter, centering around Jellal. Jellal has been my second favorite character since I first started the anime in 2015, and since then he’s been through the slowest and most satisfying character development. And each of his scenes, each of his struggles, culminated to this final scene. He's so insanely well written, and this just proves that he's one of my all times favorite characters.

Gawd this one....this is the one I needed as a Jellal simp. Aside from the core group Jellal is a strong contender as my favorite. His character is everything you want in a anti-hero....hmmm yeah that might be why I fell for him hard. the story is def gaining more momentum and I honestly can not wait to see where this story leads us. Sorry Vegeta and Goku, Fairy Tail is def my fave manga.
