If you’re looking for a book to give that nostalgic feeling from watching Twilight when you were younger except now you are an adult and need a much more ‘mature’ version this is for you! Especially if you were team Edward just saying!

So our mmc, Wren is a vampire king. Our fmc, Frankie is a human who absolutely despises vampires and for good reason. She also happens to work as an enforcer under the king. When she is forced to do a specific job for the king she is definitely not happy about it and neither is he in the beginning.

Things start to heat up fast and tension builds. It was definitely spicy! Which is exactly what I was going for. I laughed at parts, I got extremely angry in others. I almost cried during one scene. The plot was great and there were a lot of spicy scenes. A good combination of both plot and smut. There are some parts of the book that could be triggering so please check your trigger warnings as this is a dark romance.

Also the fact that Frankie’s cat fell in love with Wren too… he’s definitely got a spot on the book boyfriend list. 🫶

I could not put this book down and I’m already impatiently waiting for book 2! The characters were so likable, especially Alex I had a soft spot for him. The spice was HOT and there was no shortage! I highly recommend it to any dark romance lovers especially if you’re new to the genre.

This book is about Frankie & Wren. Frankie is a human with an aversion to vampires due to past trauma. She is also an “enforcer” which is basically a badass detective who can fight… I think. When vampires around the city keep showing up dead, the king requests the help of enforcers to get to the bottom it. Frankie’s “boss” sends her to assist. The king, Wren, has never been fearlessly challenged the way that Frankie seems to challenge him, and he is intrigued by her from the get-go.

The chemistry between them was great. THE BALCONY SCENE? Chef kiss.🤌🏻💋 This book had lots of spice. Sometimes I even thought to myself “Hey besties! Vampires are dying right now. Maybe we should circle back to the bedroom once we find out who the killer is? Stay focused!”😅🤣

This was the first vampire book I’ve read in YEARS, the first SPICY one at that. I enjoyed the author’s depiction of vampires and her simple world building. I will be reading the next one. I hope it’s Alex’s story.🥹

Calling all vampire lovers this one’s for you guys.

The MFC is Frankie who is one of the best characters I ever met I love her so much she knows what she wants and goes for it she’s headstrong I love this for any character, especially for a female character. Wren’s the MMC who’s the king who’s extremely delicious with a lot of other sides lol this man in a suit is another experience 😂 all I saw in my head while reading this was Elijah Michaelson

It’s a vampire romance that’s packed with banter funny moments romance and spice along with dealing with past events. The way I like to explain this to others it’s like both characters were meant to meet each other except it’s opposite attract.

The story’s full of emotions it’s one heck of a roller coaster but in a good way 😋

I would recommend this to anyone who’s into dark romance vampire/vampire romance and fantasy

This book had me in a chokehold the second I started reading it and I have continued to think about wren and frankie since. Bratty FMC with a grumpy AF MMC who also happens to be a vampire?! SIGN ME TF UPPPPPPPP !!!!! It was fast paced, spicy, the tension was intense and the smut? Top tier!!

If you are looking for a book that will capture your attention from the get go then look no further - it was such a wild ride the ups were so high and the lows made me feel some intense emotions that I was not prepared for!

Wren is a vampire king and Frankie is a human who despises vampires.
Unlike some books that have spice this book has a fantastic storyline and I was hooked from the start. I was so pleased that I had the next book to read straight after this as although they are technically interconnected standalones I absolutely devoured this book and wanted more of Melissa's writing

I was not expecting this book to have me snorting at times. Some of the banter was actually hilarious, the spice was fantastic, that balcony scene! Oof, so hot. ALEX!!!! Ugh, the bonus chapter gives me a glimmer of hope for book 2.

I like the different take on vampires, that it's a virus, and having the different levels of power and what they're able to do. The venom story line with the insanity was really good and ended up making things way more emotional.
