Parker thought her honeymoon would be perfect. And it was...for the first half hour. Coming back from the beach to find her husband dead on the floor wasn't exactly how she imagined her wedding night playing out.
Listed as the prime suspect in her husband's murder and trapped on a foreign island, she is forced to stay with Sefa, the owner of a local security firm. But he is not what he seems—he has a dark and deadly secret that could shatter Parker's whole world.
With the police looking in all the wrong places, Parker must find out who killed her husband before they come after her next. But as the killer drawing near, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to Sefa and his dangerous secrets.
Can Parker clear her name and return to her previous life? Or will she stay on the island and enter the dark world Sefa inhabits?
I knew going into this that I would love it. What I didn’t know was how much. I love this take on the magical world and let’s be honest, I’m a sucker for vampires. Leigh created an awesome world here and I need more of it ASAP! 5/5⭐️ 3/5 🌶️
This was my first Leigh Fields book that I read and honestly I AM A FAN 😍
Plot : 🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️ Spice : 🌶🌶.5 Desire for book two : ♾️
Leigh really hit this book out of the park. I loved the plot ans the unique aspect of the vampires. the story was well written and well edited. Writing a unique vampire story in a world that is oversaturated with vampire stories is so hard to do but she did it.
The only thing that left me wanting more was that there was a little bit of lack of depth of emotion from the main characters. Like a bit of lack of emotion when something traumatic was happening and the reactions were very minor.
that doesn't change my love for the book, that is just something I would like to see more of in the rest of the series.
Overall I would reccomend this to anybody who wants a vampire love story that isnt as straight forward as it seems.
I truly enjoyed it! I wish that magic and the mention of the local coven would have been explored a little more but I get it... The focus was the vampires. Hopefully we'll get a sequel and it'll go deeper into the Mist Guild, the envelope Joseph left for his sister and the "magical" blood, especially since it's inherited and there's three more sisters in the mix.
Leigh really starts this book off with a bang. I wasn't even mad about what happened to him as the book progressed. There were several unique aspects to the vampires that I really enjoyed. There were a handful of moments that made me go "what the..." I can't wait for more of The Melody Chronicles and hopefully Parker and Sefa!
Want a book that starts of dramatic literally on page one? This is it. I enjoyed the fantasy world and magic system of this book. Forced proximity and body guard vibes? Throw in vampires? Yes, please! Can't wait for the next book. I need more Sefa 😍
