I have a friend who is looking into self-publishing a book. I started doing some research for her and found this book which looks like it may be able to advise on using AI to help get my friend's book out there ASAP. So far it seems like I may have found the perfect book to explain how to use AI for this purpose. I will keep reading and then continue the review.

The book offers a concise, informative overview of AI's impact on the publishing industry. It covers key topics, from AI basics to practical applications, and has some valuable insights for professionals. Though its brevity sometimes limits depth, I thought that the book excels at demystifying complex concepts and offering actionable approaches. It's a fine starting point for understanding AI's potential in writing and publishing.

With all of the confusion and controversy around AI, particularly for creatives such as writers and artists, I appreciated the way this book broke down the basics of how this new technology is impacting the publishing industry. McIlroy provides an astute and readable analysis of the state of things today, as well as future opportunities. Insightful!

I'm trained as a librarian, and have been around publishing and book retailing people all my life, so have been watching the advent of AI and its effects on these sectors with keen interest – and some apprehension. Thus I looked forward to reading this book, a "concise guide” to AI specifically for writers and publishers.

The book did not disappoint; although it is indeed concise, it is surprisingly comprehensive and clearly and engagingly written. I would even describe it as an enjoyable read, despite its somewhat technical subject. Apart from the author’s accessible writing style, it helps that the key points are highlighted throughout.

As someone working in publishing, I saw this book mentioned online and bought it immediately. It is a concise guide to AI and a good introduction to how it might affect different areas and processes. The main part it is quite focused on what is happening now with more reflective questions or suggestions. The end essay is more future facing but didn’t include AI enough in how it might transform the industry.
