I break fairy tales and fuse fantasy and science fiction. I love to write about flawed heroes who never give up, transformation and redemption, and things from outer space. In my spare time, I read, doodle, eat chocolate, avoid housework, and homeschool my three children.

A native of Pakistan, I grew up in hot, humid Karachi. I then spent almost a decade in Northern New England where I learned to love fall, tolerate snow, and be snobbish about maple syrup and sweet corn. I now live in Northern Virginia.

My two star ratting is mostly due to my personal preference than quality. I honestly thought it was a great idea to turn Rapunzel’s tale into a cyberpunk short story. However, it felt like, concept aside, the re-telling did not live up to its potential.

It was broken, alright. Our Rapunzel’s prince is an adulterous bastard who uses her for her technological qualities – that is, her power and knowledge. But somehow I expected a bit more from the story than that. Everything else seemed solely a conversion of hair and velvet into wires and plastic.

That said, for me it was an ‘okay’. I think it required a bit more wit to get quite there. But then again, I’m quite picky in what concerns re-tellings, they very seldom leave me satisfied. One cannot simply retell for the sake of it, there has to be a good idea behind.
