A new person is after Hana?! Thanks to Saku's scheming, Hana and Hazuki's toxic parents are finally out of the picture. Plus, now the twin sisters can reconcile with their older brother, Yanagi. With such peaceful days, Hana becomes more aware of her feelings toward Saku, but there is still an awkward distance between them. A distraction arrives in the form of a collaborative school festival. All of the Obsidian High School campuses send a representative to compete against their fellow practitioners in some "friendly" competition. Hana’s true strength was already revealed to everyone, so she is unwillingly selected as a representative. Their biggest rival is Campus Four, which claimed victory for the last several years. This event brings the Yotsukado clan's successor to the scene, and she obviously has it out for Hana. Meanwhile, the cult members that were arrested for breaking into the Association of Practitioners are under strict surveillance, when they all suddenly die agonizing deaths...

Solid update to the series. The villain is obvious but satisfying.

This volume went by in a flash! I was genuinely shocked when I realized I was already on the last page. It's faster-paced than the other volumes, full of action, and with Hana finally revealing her strength to the world.

The plot of this book is pretty simple. Hana's school is busy preparing for the school festival and she, begrudgingly, is forced to join the inter-school competition while enemies lurk at every corner. The tournament itself was more the setting rather than the plotline. We do see Hana crushing arrogant competitors in the dust, but most of the problems lie with the remnants of the Skull of Nirvana...Gulf of Nirvana...? Them. Hana unlocks new skills and saves the day as always with her Skikigami.

The last volume sort of put me off Saku a little. The part about him knowingly putting Hana in danger without a warning and Hana always getting hurt because of him really disappointed me. This volume made him a little more likable. I still think Hana could do better than him, but at the same time, no one suits her better than him. I guess no matter how ugly the pot is, there's always a lid made to fit. The author is really skilled at making flawed characters interesting and likable.

I feel like this series has just barely begun. Hana only just showcased her abilities to the world, and there's so much more that could happen. I hope the author continues writing this series!

Hana seems to be slowly realizing her feelings are changing, though she is still attempting to convince herself her path is still set and her desires haven't changed. Even she has to admit to a level of comfort in her new lifestyle and her relationship with Saku though, even as she dreads her "additional lessons" after graduation and is coming to realize there may be more than a few reason why she should hit the books when it comes to her studies, and it's not all just about her power levels, though it would help a lot when it comes to her doing things by instinct as she does frequently. She seems to have managed to skate by with this first incident, but Saku was definitely suspicious at the end there. Hana's instincts seem to be pretty accurate, and even her dealing with the championship might seem alternately uncaring or brutal, she manages to teach more than a few lessons while also proving herself in the process, not that she sees it that way as she's more set on defending her shikigami than herself. It's good to see things getting easier between Hana and Hazuki, and now even their brother, though Hana is understandably more awkward, she also obviously cares about her siblings. Despite all of the dangers and troubles these students are facing, it seems there may be hope, especially now that their parents are out of the picture.
