Geoff Johns originally hails from Detroit, Michigan. He attended Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Media Arts and Film. He moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s in search of work within the film industry. Through perseverance, Geoff ended up as the assistant to Richard Donner, working on Conspiracy Theory and Lethal Weapon 4. During that time, he also began his comics career writing Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. and JSA (co-written with David S. Goyer) for DC Comics. He worked with Richard Donner for four years, leaving the company to pursue writing full-time.

His first comics assignments led to a critically acclaimed five-year run on the The Flash. Since then, he has quickly become one of the most popular and prolific comics writers today, working on such titles including a highly successful re-imagining of Green Lantern, Action Comics (co-written with Richard Donner), Teen Titans, Justice Society of America, Infinite Crisis and the experimental breakout hit series 52 for DC with Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka and Mark Waid. Geoff received the Wizard Fan Award for Breakout Talent of 2002 and Writer of the Year for 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 as well as the CBG Writer of the Year 2003 thru 2005, 2007 and CBG Best Comic Book Series for JSA 2001 thru 2005. So this is right when the bombs first fell and Geiger was figuring out what was going on with himself. Plus he was seeing all the people who were coming after him. You also get to see the last few days he had with his family before things went left. Great stuff.

That was as consistently excellent as the rest of the series has been. A few more little reveals here and there, with plenty of gorgeous art and eye popping colors, with more mystery added. More tragedy and heartfelt moments from flashbacks to Geiger's family, to more images of the chaos as the war broke out. Not many questions are answered here, but I'm definitely intrigued to keep going. The thought of this war and how close we feel to our own scares me, and I usually stay away from these kinds of stories because of how close they feel to becoming a reality, but this one intrigues me for reasons I can't quite explain just yet.

Brave New World

Been a while since I've been this excited about a new publisher, but Ghost Machine is doing it. With Geiger: Ground Zero as the kickoff we get to jump on board with a brand new comic universe in the making. Geiger is dark, starting in the aftermath of nuclear war that leveled much of the US, but there's more to it than that. The main character is as much a victim as anyone as he stumbles along trying to get back to his family. So far, that's the gist leading the 2nd issue.

So one comic in, and I'm still excited

Really enjoyed the 1st volume and wanted to read the 2 GROUND ZERO ISSUES B4 the 2024 issue's

Still one of my favorites in the game right now. Geoff Johns is a beast and people hate on him and I don't know why, jealousy maybe but he's written some of my favorite Batmen, Flash, Flashpoint and others. And now Geiger I absolutely love and have been waiting for since day 1 of the 1st issue from the 1st volume. Hope this continues as the story, art, characters (both good and bad) are amazing, and the setting of a destroyed Nevada, seeing a destroyed Las Vegas was crazy and just a well rounded and hopefully continually very solid series that their already trying to spin or have spun other characters from this world.

Boy have they ruined what seemed to be a good start of this "unnamed" series. First the bad 80-page, then the mediocre tin soldier and then this.
The whole purpose of this book is to show a white man being racist against a black man, and the pointing out of the bad guys to be "far right extremists".
Why is it that 70% of every comic is about virtue signaling and pushing left wing political ideas? It's comical at this point - pun intended.
Needless to say, I'll stop reading anything from the "unnamed" line

Geoff Johns and Gary Frank return to the world of Geiger , as they continue to expand on their shared universe. This time, we're following the early adventures of Geiger, AKA the Glowing Man, who is being hunted by an expert on nuclear energy, Dr. Molotov. It's a campy tale filled with explosive action via Frank's energetic artwork, but serves as a solid foundation to re-center readers on the series now under the "Ghost Machine" publishing line.
