Cora Kent fell for her first villain before she even knew what romance was. Ever since Scar was denied a happily ever after, she’s been on a mission to give all the dark, dangerous anti-heroes the endings they deserve. If the Big Bad Wolf had swept Little Red off her feet, it might have saved the fairy tale—so that's exactly what Cora does in her novels: grants her bad boys redemption through passion, power, and the women who can handle them.

When she’s not spinning tales of morally gray heroes and forbidden desires, you’ll find her snuggled up with her cat, sipping a margarita, and watching Grey’s Anatomy.

I have not read anything like this so far. 3.5 ✨

Lucia and Saverio's story starts with the prequel (a short 32 pages called Simple Pleasures ) outside of this book.
That first meeting sets the tone for the depth of their connection.
They are fiery, like 2 forcefields colliding together.

🎵If the song Poison and Wine by The Civil Wars was a book and a couple, it would be this one.🎵
🎵Your mouth is poison, your mouth is wine
I don't love you, but I always will
Your hands can heal, your hands can bruise
I don't have a choice, but I still choose you🎵

Their history is deeper than we get in writing, but we see and feel it all in their push and pull, how they continuously collide and clash together but also mould so well.
I like the smoothness with which these moments from the past were incorporated into the writing without really doing a flashback and having to move between timelines. It was perfectly executed and speaks volumes of the writing mastery.

I was waiting for their moments together. I looked forward to their sexy scenes. They are written so well together.

Admittedly, I was not the biggest fan of Saverio. I have an issue with his control. Controlling and Protective behaviours blended together, and the lines were blurred.
However, Lucia was aware of this, and she knew how to differentiate. I loved her internal war.

I have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love arranged marriage books and this one was no exception. Make sure to read the novella before this book, many things will make more sense.

Saverio and Lucia have always known each other, both being part of two of the most important families of the mafia. Saverio managed to strie a deal with Lucia's dad to marry her, but Lucia is not so happy.

I liked the way they both felt compelled to be with each or to seek the other when they needed it. I also loved the way Lucia wanted to keep her independency at all costs. Of course, both coming from the two most important families in the mafia means they are also rivals, so even though they love each other and have been together on and off for the better part of eight years, Saverio and Lucia do not trust each fully.

This novel is fast pacd, full of twists, a couple I did not see coming at all. I can't wait for the next installment.

Thank you Cora Kent and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this novel for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Let's discuss tropes:

🖤 Dark Mafia
🖤 Age Gap
🖤 Birth Control Tampering
🖤 Arranged Marriage
🖤 Touch Her & Die
🖤 Forced Breeding

Do you know what made me love this book? Their relationship built over years and the snippets offered to readers, made this book for me.

Immediately, we're provided smut, yes, that quickly and it gives us a huge insight into the MMC if you haven't read the prequel (although I strongly advise you to)!

Saverio & Lucia's love story is a chaotic balance of strength, perseverance & regret. Lucia's strength and independence arguing with her heart on a daily basis. Saverio's brutality and perseverance shining through when his heart takes a back seat. It's pretty beautiful.

The writing brings it all together - you're in the room with them. You're alongside them on their path. Some well balanced smut along the way, but I almost skipped through one scene as I was more interested in the mystery. The plot intrigued me, I felt like a massive explosive was about to happen any moment, and it didn't. I'm not sure if I wanted the explosion or not - I'm unsettled by that but overall, highly recommend this book!

I received this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review, which I am leaving voluntarily.

The story of what’s meant to be an arranged marriage, turned revenge. The MMC and FMC are both equally stubborn but in opposite ways. They’re meant to have an arranged marriage, but does the story end in revenge or a happily ever after? It keeps you on your toes and needing to know what’s coming.

If it’s the pill, I’ll flush them down the toilet. If it’s an IUD, I’ll pull it out with my teeth.

That is the ultimatum that Saverio delivers to Lucia, his soon to be bride. She will be his and she will bear his child. No matter how she struggles against him, she cannot deny him.

Saverio is going to kill me, Brooklyn, her date, and mine. Then he’ll probably kill himself so he can kick all of our asses in the afterlife…

There are plenty of light and loving moments amongst the danger and death that surrounds Lucia and Saverio. Two families, that are mortal enemies, but Lucia felt that hers and Saverio’s lives had always, and will be always, intertwined.

There will be plenty of blood shed before the story is told and some smokin’ hot sex. So, brace yourself and dive into the world of the Terlizzis.

Thanks Cora, for the opportunity to read and review Wicked Desires.

Thank you booksprout for letting me read an arc of this book in return for an honest review.

I always forget how intense Mafia books are. He literally cut out her IUD from her arm with a pocket knife telling her she's having his child. I enjoyed reading their relationship. It started off as just random hook ups and I hate you to being actually in love and a couple by the end. I loved that her family finally came around and accepted him and treated him just like family. There's violence, spicy scenes, betrayal, a stalker, everything you want in a Mafia book. Can't wait to read more in the series.

This book had everything I loved and more, all the tropes, spice, romance, etc. all of it.

Cora writes some of my favorite books and this one was amazing. Simple Pleasures left me wanting more and that’s what we got with this one.

If you love :

Dub-con
Age gap
Forced breeding
Violence
Blood
Forced removal of birth control

You’ll love this one, if you’ve read any other books by Cora you’ll really love this one.

Saverio and Lucia’s story was so well written, I loved the relationship that got built between them in this one and the prequel. Their story is absolutely one of my favorites. The spice was so good too, but their love? Immaculate.

ARC Review✨

Firstly I would most definitely recommend reading the small novella “simple pleasures” before diving into this book as it will definitely set the scene for Saverio and Lucia’s book.

While this story may start out as a tale of revenge, it takes an alternative course fairly quickly. If you have read Dante’s book, which is book 1 in this series you will remember that Dante was supposed to marry Saverio’s sister but he quickly ended that marriage to be with his love and in process disgraced Saverio’s sister’s reputation and thus Saverio’s thought it would be fitting to do the same to Dante’s sister Lucia, but he definitely didn’t expect to fall head over heels for the little spitfire👏🏼

Lucia, is a smart and beautiful soul who in fact teaches second grade. She and Saverio has always had a complicated past, and deep down she always loved him but I think her biggest issue was just trusting. Saverio, is your typical alpha male her, he is obsessed with Lucia and wants her to be completely his no matter what he has to do in the process to keep her. And the extents he goes to, oh absolutely ludicrous, *cough* having her remove her BC *cough*.

This book is fast paced, with twists, turns and plenty of banter, in which I just couldn’t put the book down. This is a dark Mafia romance so I would definitely check the TWs.

Thank you so much to the author for providing this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

thank you to Cora for letting me read this early <3

I love a good dark mafia romance with an arranged marriage trope. this follows Lucia Terlizzi and Saverio Castiglione. they have a past and they have been in each other's lives for almost eight years. they fell in love in secret without telling her family and then once they were starting to get real Saverio went to her father and asked her for her hand in marriage. she was in love with him but he went behind her back so she does not trust him.

the Terlizzi's and the Castiglione's have always been enemies and this was no different when Lucia's brothers found out about them. the reason why they hate each other is because Dante was supposed to marry Saverio's sister, Lucrezia and he was against it and he ended up marrying someone else. He chose to ask for Lucia's hand for revenge. even if it was to get back at her brother, there is an undeniable connection between him and Lucia.

I loved the touch of suspense, the plot twist, the spice, the BREEDING (always good to have this). I am excited to see the next installment.

Ever since I ARC read the prequel I have been dying to read this book and it did not disappoint. Just like the prequel this book left me begging for more. The chemistry between Lucia and Saverio is insane, and their story is so beautiful and complex. I love romantic stories that reach beyond the page like you can really feel it in your heart, if that makes sense? Basically I was either swooning over Saverio, wishing for a relationship like theirs or crying my ass off the entire book. This plot had me on my toes the entire time, a great push and pull dynamic between them that created a lot of tension, a forbidden love between two opposing mafia families and some other mafia shenanigans. This focused a lot on the romance aspect, they clearly loved each other but had an on and off relationship due to being from rival families and their conflicts of values. And the arranged marriage thing was the cherry on top, he arranged their marriage as supposed “revenge” to the rest of the world, but only they know how deep their love actually goes. So yeah a secret relationship sort of thing and also an age gap, which I love. And I love how they met, the part of the story that only they (and the readers) know, it’s so heartwarming and comforting. I cant exactly tell you because it spoils but please read it, I cannot stop raving about how amazing their story is. Also I love a good Birth control tampering trope, it’s very toxic and is horrible in real life but there’s just something about the dominance in that action that has my scenes tingling. And I also love when the mafia boss has so much power and control, but goes through major character development and realises that the fmc controls him as much as he controls her. I’m such a sucker for the “I can’t love without her” trope, where there’s a breakup and he’s just dead inside. I just wish there was a little more mafia action, but otherwise I loved this book so much! I give it a 5/5

Lucia and Saverio's story is one that takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, revenge, sex, birth control tampering, obsession and a span of history dating back 8 years. If you haven't read Dante's Terlizzis' story, I would highly suggest that you do as it will introduce Saverio and his younger sister.

There were some triggers for me as a reader with this book, but found the writing to be solid, the characters (with all their flaws) interesting and a very intriguing original storyline. The story begins as a "revenge" trope but morphs into so much more by books' end.

Lucia and Saverio have an extensive history and an age gap of 11 years. They have had an on again off again sexual arrangement since Lucia was 18 years old and Saverio 29. Fast forward eight years and both have agreed to an arranged marriage, are still sexually active but spend quite a bit of time avoiding a commitment to a life together. Their characters show growth during this story with their inner dialogues but those dialogues don't resonate into something solid until the last portion of the book.

The crux of the story is based upon Dante's refusal to marry Saverio's bat shit crazy younger sister (16 year old) after meeting Adriana, who is the love of his life. Saverio's sister is a very demented and vicious person who has a questionable sexual past which gives Dante a way out of the arranged marriage. Saverio plans to knock up Lucia and humiliates her and her family by leaving her at the alter seeking revenge for a sister that proves to be a criminally insane young woman that will do anything to get what she wants, even kill her siblings.

The issues I had with this book was the fact that Saverio cut's Lucia's birth control device from her arm and refused to let her use any kind of birth control. He literally assigns his guard to live with her 24-7 destroying her independence and freedom. Surprisingly Lucia fights with Saverio's decisions throughout the book only to "give in" to him time and time again. All she has to do is go to her brothers to put an end to a relationship that borders on toxicity and lust, but continues to resort to more sexual encounters with Saverio w/0 birth control. They fight allot and have sex allot instead of actually communicating. This kind of angst is throughout the book as other revelations comes to light and the real truth is revealed at the end of this book.

Neither character every professes their love for one-another until the end of the book even though they have a substantial history and obsession/connection. In my opinion, the last portion of the book is the most enjoyable. Mysteries are solved, perpetrator's are unmasked and our couple find and profess their love for one another.

It's a very suspenseful story with many twists and turns. I didn't figure out the ending of this book which is a plus for me, having read so many books in this genre.

I wanted to hate Saverio. Evert fiber of my being wanted to despise him, but he eventually grew on me. The ruthless mafia boss turned into a sweet, caring father to be, and it was endearing. Did I hate how he treated Lucia in the beginning? 1,000% Did I also fall for his grand gestures? 10,000%. He's far from perfect, but he's a work in progress.

As for Lucia, I liked that she didn't cower before him or fall to her knees at his every command. I liked that she had a backbone, and although she ultimately gives in to him, she fights for herself as much as she can.

Their story was messy and rough, and yet it was beautiful. Their back-and-forth was fun. Watching them prepare to become parents was sweet. I absolutely loved her brothers and the way they protected her so fiercely, even if it meant working with a man they viewed as their enemy. They're definitely a tight-knit unit, and I'm here for it.

For me, this book was all over the place. I don’t feel like we really knew why they were always mad at each other, early on it talked about the MMC trying to get her pregnant to get back at her brother, and that he would then abandon her…. But that was never mentioned again. The third act breakup served no purpose. Somehow too much going on but also not enough.

I binged this book in two days and overall, I thought it was really enjoyable. There was spice right out the gate in the first chapter, so it starts off strong. As with any book, I recommend that you read the triggers. There’s nothing really wild in this one, but there’s definitely forced-pregnancy/birth control tampering. I guess I wasn’t expecting it to be such a focal point, but that’s probably more on my preferences and less on the author for lack of warning.

I should also say that I did not read the first book, so I was a little lost on some parts, but not badly enough that I couldn’t use context clues to piece it together. If you’re able to read the first one though, I do suggest it. It’ll help fill in some small gaps. I actually plan on reading it next!

I found the writing to be easy to follow and concise, which made for quick and easy reading, and the chapters were appropriately measured for dual POV. You were able to get a complete sense of what was happening without it droning on for pages and pages.

I also really enjoyed the character development and their dynamics. Their personalities clashed and meshed in all the right ways to keep the story interesting and moving along.

Saverio is very “touch her and die” without being impulsive and unhinged. He’s possessive and protective, but he’s not going around killing people for existing in Lucia’s space, which I thought was both realistic and refreshing. Would he? Maybe. But he seems like he actually has common sense.

I would say my only disappointment was that I felt like something BIGGER was going to happen aside from Lucia getting pregnant. It felt like there was such a huge buildup to the whole stalker thing and then it was just… over? They just beat up Kristopher and that was the end of it. There were a lot of points where I thought some mind-blowing plot twist was going to happen in the next few pages and it was just… nothing but more sexual tension.

Also, his “plan of revenge” felt pretty weak. It was mentioned a few times and then it was just never brought up again. I was expecting there to be a lot more drama surrounding that and there was absolutely none aside from the arranged marriage which really didn’t feel like that big of a deal since they were madly in love and Lucia agreed to marry him once before anyway.

There’s not a whole lot of spice in the second half of the book. So if you’re looking for steam throughout, you may want to be prepared. It becomes more plot-focused and while I’m more than okay with that, spicy romance readers should be warned.

Overall I thought it was a good book and I’m grateful to have been chosen for this ARC read. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

This was my 1st Cora Kent read, mafia romance, and ARC!

Such an easy read and the descriptive details are great. Saverio kind of creeped me out in the beginning and the birth control situation almost threw me off, but it’s so insane I had to keep reading lol. I also love when authors show visuals of text threads instead of just plainly saying responses. The banter!!! The “I hate you, but rip my clothes off”!!! ahhh

before i start, i'd like to thank cora kent for allowing me to be one of the ARC readers and for booksprout for providing me a copy!

it's been a while since i've read a mafia/dark romance book, so it was hard for me to get into this head first. i haven't read the first book of the series so i didn't understand the universe until middway through the book. i'm going to be 100% honest, i had a rough time trying to love saverio as the mmc, but i got through it! lucia and his love is everything to me, and the way the plot moved went by kind of slow to me but i still enjoyed every page! both of their family dynamics are so well written and i can tell how much cora takes care of their characters! also can i mention the fact that lucia is an absolute girlboss?? she truly stands up for herself everytime saverio tries to get in her way and i LOVE. THAT. and the one scene that truly sticks to me is where lucia has her cravings in the middle of the night, and saverio goes out to get it just for her. ugh where can i get a man like that?? their love story was truly intense for me but also so so fun reading their little moments together. the plot twist of lucia and her past literally kept me on edge the entire time. bravo!!!!!

This is the second book in the Terlizzis series and brings Lucia and Saverio's story. The author brings an age gap/arranged marriage/mafia romance and takes you into their lives with chemistry, love and all the emotions and kept me turning the pages with secrets, suspense, intrigue and all the twists along the way. She pulled me in with her vividly painted scenes, moves the story fluidly delivering a fantastic read. Loved and recommend this book/series.

I give this a 3.5

I loved the prequel and the first half of the book so much. I’ve read other Cora Kent books and always enjoy the reads. This has pregnancy trope and I’m not the biggest fan.

I loved the banter between Sav & Lucia.
The whole love/hate relationship between them always turned straight to lust. She hated him but not enough to ever stay away.

Wicked Desires by Cora Kent is the second book in her Terlizzis series, but can be read as a standalone. There’s a lot of players in this book so I did wish that I’d read the first one just to have more background, but Cora Kent did a great job in including all the pertinent information! I loved this mafia world! Lucia is the Terlizzi sister and Saverio has decided he’s going to get back at her brother Dante by taking his sister. Lucia and Saverio have a complicated history, a lot of back and forth, ups and downs over the last 8 years. I loved learning new things about their past as the story went on. Saverio is head of a crime family of his own, the Castigliones and Terlizzis hate each other. So naturally none of Lucia’s brothers want these two to be together, but Saverio arranged the marriage without them being able to have a say. The Family also doesn’t know everything that’s happened between the two. I loved Lucia and Saverio, they were two flawed people that couldn’t help but be drawn to each other. I loved how obsessed Saverio was, even if he made a lot of mistakes. I loved this book!!

Thank you to Cora Kent for allowing me to be an ARC reader and review another one of her books. She has me obsessed with Mafia romance. I was waiting so impatiently in hopes to be able to read this after I read Ruthless Sinner.

Now, where to start. First, I absolutely 💯 am OBSESSED with the Terlizzis family. Adalina and Dante pulled me in and now I cannot stop reading and buying this storyline.

I am going to strongly urge reading the trigger warnings. She has them listed in full on her website.

Wicked Desires is the 2nd book and I also strongly urge reading the prequels first. It is about the little sister Lucia Terlizzis. Lucia is strong, independent and a force to be reckoned with. She is fire and ice mixed into one.

Saverio is a narcissistic hot headed control freak. I spent most of the time loathing this man. But his loyalty is fierce and no one, and I mean no one, will hurt a hair on Lucia’s head, between him and her older brothers. Even though Lucia really can hold her own and does quite well with Saverio. By the time I started going soft for Saverio and falling in love with their dynamic I was almost in tears.

Two very strong willed people. Two bulls butting heads but both wanting the same things. One who is ruthless in his handling of business and another who wants nothing to do with the family business. There is love, hate, violence, family, loyalty and respect all in the pages of this story. Ultimately though it’s a love story with mafia families tied in.

By the end of this book I was looking for more. I needed more. I need to know what’s next for Lucia and Saverio. My heart ached for Savario and Lucia and I held my breath for the last few chapters.

I love that Cora Kent makes all the characters part of each story with either a mention of them or actually in the storyline. The way she writes, you feel as though you personally know them and gain likes and dislikes about them. You become invested in each of the families. Cannot wait for the next book, I am hoping there will be lots more.

If you need anymore reason to read it the dedication says it all:

“ To the women who dream of being claimed, tamed, and completely ruined by a mafia boss—this one’s for you.“.

This book delivers on the intense, gritty tropes that dark mafia romance fans crave: age gap, arranged marriage, “touch her & die,” dub-con, forced breeding, blood, violence, and even forced removal of birth control. The shock value is undeniable, and the dark themes are woven into the story in a way that hits hard. If you love edgy, high-stakes romance with heavy elements of betrayal and obsession, this one brings all of that to the table.

Unfortunately, while the tropes were well-executed, the character dynamics didn’t work for me. Saverio and Lucia’s relationship felt inconsistent and illogical at times. Their secret romance and subsequent betrayal could have been compelling, but their reactions felt at points hypocritical. I wanted to love their journey, but the lack of consistency in their arcs left me disconnected.

That said, the story is packed with dark and twisted elements that some readers will absolutely devour. If you’re here for the tropes and not too hung up on character logic, this should be a hit for you!

I completely devoured this book in a day and a half, the story is good and despite being part of a series I love that the stories are not connected and that each couple has their own moment.

The arranged marriage trope is one of my favorites especially in mafia romances and what a way to execute it by the author, just the fact that Saverio and Lucia already had history was the best, the change of strategy in Sav's plan, the growth of both as individuals and having to stop and think about someone other than themselves, realize that it is time to mature if they want to function as a stable couple. The spicy is just right, not grotesque or exaggerated.

The plot was a bit predictable but still very well executed, I was expecting something a bit more action packed but I still find it acceptable, I'm interested in knowing more about the Terlizzi brothers so I'm looking forward to the next book.

Such a great dark mafia romance. The tension was so good between Lucia and Saverio, I enjoyed their love hate chemistry and the way they rile each other up.
Saverio appears dark at first with his controlling nature and punishments, but you see he would do anything for Lucia and just wants her to accept and love him.
I liked the additional drama with the family rivalries, and the mystery of Lucia's stalker. It had some good twists and character growth, and a sweet ending.

🖤"You can hate me all you want, Lucia. But this? Us? This isn't something you can run from"

🖤"That's what I love about you. You're the only person who's seen the face of darkness and doesn't tremble when it's coming for you in a dark alley"

🖤"Keep testing my patience, Dandelion. I can do this all night long"

🖤"Lucia emblazoned her name across my soul in indelible ink"

This book is definitely a dark romance and is not for the faint of heart. It is a Italian Mafia, age gap, forced birth control removal, intense romance. Saverio give "touch her and I'll unalive you" vibes. If this was real life I would be running as fast as I could but this book makes me think that I could totally go for a mob boss. The end did drag on for me a bit but it was sweet and showed character development for both Saverio and Lucia. All told it was a very enjoyable read!.

This book is a 4* for me, but I enjoyed the ride entirely! The FMC can be a little wishy washy in regards to how she feels about the MC. While I understand that's part of the complexity of their relationship, the constant reminder took me out of the book a little.

That aside, I enjoyed the banter between not just the main characters, but some of the side characters as well! I laughed out loud at a handful of moments. I am personally semi-new to the dark romance genre, and I felt like, while some dark content was present, this book felt like a good introduction to the genre!

Really great book, I had an absolute blast with it!.
