这本耽美小说以其引人入胜的情节和紧凑的节奏吸引人。尽管包含了激烈的暴力和强奸情节（在这个题材中并不少见），主角之间逐渐发展的关系却出人意料地温馨。生动的写作丰富了叙事，在残酷中平衡了情感深度，使其成为一本引人入胜的读物。
The first half of this danmei novel is a total page-turner. 📖✨ But heads up: as you dive deeper into the story, the intense and frequent violent interactions from the main character might catch you off guard. ⚠️💔 The graphic depictions, including some pretty heavy themes like rape, are definitely shocking, but they’re not uncommon in the danmei genre. 😳 Amidst all the chaos, though, the relationship between the protagonists evolves in a surprisingly tender way. 🌸💕 Despite the turmoil, you start to see a deeper connection and affection between them.

There are many things to do with this that I'm a bit uncomfortable with from the ages of particularly the youngest of this pairing in regards to how explicit this gets to full on SA and rape being... well, not exactly handled super well.
The drama definitely had to do a lot of cleanup work for this to end up as an alright show. With my issues with the original book, I am still somewhat undecided as to if I'm going to watch the drama or not. Mainly becaus ethe idea of even less heavily censored bl cdramas is a thing I'd like to see I just.... I dont really know if this particular story is for me.
If you're curious about this you can be curious however I can definitely say this is nit something I'd recommend to anyone.

While watching the drama, I got impatient and blazed through the book, so I can only compare it up through episode 6. That being said, if you liked the drama, I would highly recommend giving the book a shot. It has both Xiaobao and Huaien's points of view, so you get to understand their thinking and feelings a lot better.
For the first 6 episodes, very little was cut from the drama, however looking at how much more dense the second half is, I am guessing a lot more is going to be cut to fit everything into 12 episodes. That being said, I really think the drama was made with a lot of love for the series based on how much detail they go into and how many lines they borrow directly from the book.
Since I read an unofficial translation, I can't really speak to the style or language, but as far as narrative development, I loved the story overall. The romance itself felt very gothic horror in some aspects, the friendships and loyalty between Xiaobao, Su Yin, Zhao Cai, and Jin Bao were beautiful and well done, and the characters were really well made. Both Xiaobao and Huaien are great characters that really suck you into their stories. Their personalities, emotions, and growth throughout the series are clear and derived from the experiences they go through- which isn't always the case in this genre. There were a couple of moments where I wish Xiaobao had gotten to show his changes more or when I wished Huaien had become more socially adept, but their actions and even their misunderstandings make sense for who they are and what they know and can do.
One thing I was not expecting from the drama was how much I ended up loving Su Yin. Even though he does some questionable things and can be rough with Xiaobao, he is very devoted to his friend and is genuinely trying to help him live his best life. It's not even a love triangle, just real, devoted, friendship. I really hope the drama allows for these moments between them.

Aku memutuskan... Apa ya. Nge drop? Karena dah cukup dispoilernya. Aku paham apa yg terjadi di buku ini, tp komentarku tdk akan detail. Kalian yg mungkin butuh komentar (tp males baca), mungkin bs berpendapat sendiri lewat spoiler yg sama...
Alasan drop : MTL nya tidak readable alias kacau. Aku tdk sanggup.
Aku ga bisa bilang crita ini jelek. Krn ini buku debut nya SQC, pasti ada kekurangan yg tdk sedikit. Aku ga bs jelasin kekurangannya dmn. Tp stelah baca dr spoiler itu, aku merasa buku ini MENARIK banget.
Kita tau ni author suka bikin scum charactsr dan unhealthy relationship nya.
Tp yg bikin crita ini makin menarik, krn crita ini diawali dgn berbagai komedi yg bener bener LUCU. Tulisan beliau jg amat ngalir untuk pertama menulis buku bergenre ancient gini. Dan saya terhibur.
Apalagi langsung menaruh karakter MC yang fatty, who gladly is rich. Yg cukup rare dan breaking a beauty standard of shou in danmei. Bisexual yes. Dan amat gemesin.
Kemudian, ML yang cantik luar biasa, tp sadis luar biasa. ⚠ MINOR.
Naruh karakter gitu udah menarik perhatian banget.
Dilanjut dgn plotnya itu seperti dikasih bersenang2 dulu, bersakit2 kemudian (?) Komedi di awal, menyakitkan selanjutnya. Aku jg ga nyangka kalo critanya bergerak ke arah 180derajat di pertengahan. Apalagi adegan betraying ML ke MC itu menyakitkan banget (saya blm baca sepenuhnya aja sakit hati)
Maka itu, dari semua point2 tersebut, saya bisa bilang kalo buku ini AMAT SANGAT berpotensi dan menarik sekali buat diikutin. Seandainya suatu saat nanti ada yang TL in sampe full, aku excited banget buat baca lagi.

This is Shui Qian Cheng's debut novel and I guess it becomes the starting point of her favourable theme: a scum gong chasing back his shou after he severely wronged them. Whenever I want to dwell in the pits of chasing wife crematorium, her works are absolutely my favourite 😅🤌🏻
For this particular danmei, I honestly really like the storyline and the plots, along with the character development. It has all of the ingredients that I need for angsty novel, like frustration, longing, passion, betrayal, OBSESSION (Huaien, I see you), love, and hatred. The first 40 chapters are for the relationship development between Xiaobao and Huaien. After that the plot thickens with tons of secrets unfolding and emotional turmoil. I'm satisfied with the ending, but it could be better if the author used Huaien status as a direct heir to the throne for more possible conflicts. I think it's something gravely important, but it's brushed off as if it's an insignificant fact. 💀

But his longing 🫠 desperation for forgiveness 🫠obsession ☺️ jealousy 😔 loyalty 🧎🏻♀️Huaien is your true yandere gong ⛳
Well actually both Xiaobao and Huaien are somewhat gray characters for me. And I love them for that. Overall it's a wonderful journey with them, I can't put down the book and finished it only in 2 days 😂

เข้าใจว่าเรื่องนี้เป็นงานเรื่องแรกๆ ของนักเขียน อ่านแล้วรู้สึกได้ว่าต่างจากงานหลังๆ พอสมควร พล๊อตไม่ค่อยมีอะไร ตัวละครไม่ค่อยมีมิติ อ่านแล้วไม่ได้รู้สึกเอาใจช่วยหรือผูกพันกับพระเอกนายเอก แต่ยังไงนี่ก็เป็นงานของสุ่ยเชียนเฉิง ความหน่วงๆ เจ็บๆ ยังมี ถึงจะไม่บีบคั้น ไม่บาดใจเท่าเรื่องหลังๆ แต่เจ็บจี๊ดๆ ก็ยังมีอยู่ สรุปว่าใครชอบงานของนักเขียนก็ยังอ่านได้ค่ะ มีกลิ่นอาย (จางๆ) ของแนวผัวร้าย เพียงแต่ความลึกซึ้ง ความบีบคั้น การเรียกอารมณ์ร่วม ยังทำได้ไม่ดีเท่าเรื่องอื่นๆ

The 2024 drama is 100% better than the book it was based on. This book was terrible. Concerning age gaps and problematic behavior that goes unchecked. ML was horrible until half way though. Watch the drama, don’t waste you’re time reading

Bueno que puedo decir, me reí bastante con los monólogos internos de Xiao Bao.
En sí, es lo mismo que en la serie―para aquellos que después de verla quieran leerla, como yo lo hice― solo que mucho más explicita y con los niveles de toxicidad de HE elevado por 100.

I love this book. Even it's 2nd couple's book is amazing too . The emotions roller coaster was such a highly pit that i can't look over but finally they got it. Luckily through all the novel my interest never died.
Now i just need su yin and that Crow prince story.
