Will Cooper is nearing burnout. He needs a change, and he needs it soon. He doesn’t expect that to come in the form of his reclusive grandfather’s last will and testament gifting him and his brothers the land, ranch, and mountain in the town of Timber Falls, Alaska. There’s just one catch—they must all live there for two years before the property becomes theirs.
A change is as good as a holiday, right? And what could be bigger than uprooting your entire life?

In fact, she's been waiting for the prodigal grandsons to return.
When their paths finally cross—and in a furniture store, no less—neither Will or Birdie expect to feel such a strong and instant connection. There’s just one problem… Will has no clue the prophesy even exists, and Birdie is sure she’s the soulmate the mountain spirit has called to the mountain for him…
All she can do now is hope that somehow, some way, Will realizes he’s been called back home for a reason. He just needs to open his heart and see it.
Because sometimes the biggest journey isn't the two thousand miles to Alaska—it's the distance between a closed-off heart and the magic of a mountain spirit waiting to break through. *** Mountain Needs a Boss is Book 1 of a new Mountain's Call series. This time it's a family of four brothers with the last name Cooper who inherit their grandfather's mountain ranch in Timber Falls, Alaska, on one condition - they all have to move back to the family land. The question is, once they each meet their One true love, will they want to go.
The Men of Cooper Ranch series will have the same sweet, flirty, fated soulmate stories you love from Marley Michaels, with more big, gruff and tough men living their lives on and near the mountain. The mountain has always provided for its keepers, and now it's time for more feisty women to warm up their cold mountain hearts and complete their lives forever. Can we all say, awww.
This book was simply delightful!! Oh my what a wonderful character Birdie was, she was such a fun and hilarious person to read and Will was a perfect match for her. This well written book had me hooked from the beginning and I adored all the side characters and can’t wait for the rest of the brother’s stories. I love Marley Michaels and their mountain call books and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. I received an arc for my honest opinion but seriously if you want a fun love story this one would certainly hit the spot.
This was a slow paced sweet story but it fell flat for me. It’s mentioned as the first in a series but I feel like assumed too much for being that. I haven’t read any of the others and felt like something was missing. I received an ARC from Booksprout and voluntarily leave this honest review. #beccasbookbites ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️
This was a beautifully written book, the characters were passionate about their remote mountain town. I enjoyed the brothers and how they were thrown together due to their inheritance, then there’s the bubbly and charismatic Birdie - such an absolute sweetheart. I enjoyed Will and Birdie’s banter, especially their texts - really gave the book an extra element. Overall a really lovely read
Will Cooper is the oldest of four brothers. They head to their grandfather's lawyer's office in Alaska. There they find out that their gramps left them the entire Ridge. But it comes with a stipulation. They need to live on it for two years. After the meeting they head to the bar next door and sit and discuss it. Finally they all decide that yes they're going to do it. Now in mid January he's back at the ranch. He is the first there and he has a few weeks to get the house back in a libable state for the four of them. AFter all he owned his own construction business. Birdie Walker is the daughter of the mayor of Timber Falls. She works for her father. She's become the town's everyday Girl Friday. She learns that the Cooper brothers are returning to the ranch. But her father suggests she wait to visit them. Give them time to get settled in. After a few weeks the brothers head downtown to a furniture store. Birdie meets Will and sees the other brothers. When she touches Will there like a static electricity thing that zaps them. Then she leaves. A day later she's doing her bar tending gig. Then she sees the brothers walk in. One of the women asks who those hunks are and she tells her. After meeting Will she went and read the books on mountain men where their mountain was mentioned. There is a spirit that calls soulmates together. Is it possible the Call is for the Coopers? Then Will meanders over. After a few minutes she asks him out and then she gives him her number. His brain seems to turn to mush around her and his brother has to help him out. They're with another group of men they know and they discuss what they hope to do with the ranch and are offered other suggestiong. Meanwhile he is contemplating what it is about Birdie that keeps drawing his eye to her. When she doesn't hear from him she talks her dad into going to the ranch to do a welcome to town mayor thing. There she finds that he lost her number but he says they need a first date. Well things are going ok. But is she the one that is being called for Will? Is the calling for her or is she making too much of it? She isn't that desperate is she? A story full of emotion and a bit of prophecy.

This book starts a new series with another branch of the Cooper family. Will and his three brothers have come back to Alaska at the behest of their late grandfather. They will inherit the ranch and Cooper Ridge if they stay on the ranch for two years. None of them know why there is a set time period or why their grandfather insisted that only a Cooper could own the ranch and the ridge. None of the brothers know about the Mountain Spirit’s Call or the prophecy before they arrive, but Will is the first to experience it.
Will feels an immediate connection to Birdie, the sweetheart of Timber Falls. She is the person to whom everyone gravitates, the one who selflessly offers her help and her time wherever needed and who thrives on keeping busy. Her work ethic is comparable to Will’s and it is not the only thing they have in common. Both are fiercely loyal, honest and conscientious. They both feel the sparks and the pull toward each other, but she knows about the Call and its history with regard to the Cooper family. She does wonder if she is meant for Will, and if he will believe in the prophesy or dismiss it.
I enjoyed the progression of Will and Birdie’s relationship. From the endearingly awkward meeting, the fumbling of setting a time for a date, to the thrill of being with each other and then realizing what they have together is meant to be. The close bond among the brothers, and the teasing, goading and unconditional support they offer each other is wonderful. Together, they have come to forge a new life in a place where they were once at their happiest. I loved that so many familiar characters from the other Mountain Spirit’s Call series make an appearance in this book. It makes this book even more more delightful. I am eager to read the books featuring Will’s brothers and their “Ones”.
I am very happy to recommend this delightful book.
The beginning of an exciting new series "Men of Cooper Ridge" with Will and Birdie's story. Will and his three brothers Cayson (Case), Sutton (Sutt), and Jude inherited Cooper Ridge from their grandfather with the stipulation that they had to live on the land for two years. Each one gave up their lives in the lower forty-eight moving to Alaska in honor of their grandfather's wish, because they thought there was something missing in their lives, and he knew something they did not. Will being the oldest arrived first to get a few things ready for the others. When they all got together, they voted Will in as boss. The ranch needed a great deal of work, but the Cooper men were up to the task. They worked on getting the house livable first, fortunately for a small town Timber Falls had a huge furniture store, since practically all the furniture had to be replaced. The furniture store was where Will ran into Birdie Walker, and she offered to help him find what he was looking for and managed to help him pick a style of furniture for the whole house. Birdie could best be described as doer. She always needed to be doing something for someone. Whether it be working, helping someone out, or volunteer work her hands were always busy. But she also knew the story of the "Coopers" and the One, so she knew the first time she touched Will that he was her One, but he knew nothing about the story. What was she to do? The best book yet, but it was a little long.

First book of the men of Cooper Ranch series! I really enjoyed it! Yes, you certainly are! The Mountain Spirit is ready for you guys! "𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐? 𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒖𝒑 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝑭𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒔?"
This small town romance begins with 4 brothers being summoned home to claim their home with the stipulation they had to stay for two years. This story is focused on Will and Birdie as the main characters with the supporting cast of Will’s brothers (Cayson, Sutton, and Jude) and Birdie’s many jobs, her father the mayor and a myriad of town folks you will grow to love.
When Will and Birdie meet at the furniture store there is a pull neither one really understands. Birdie gives Will her number only for him to wash the number away with the laundry. But fate would ensure they both found one with a little help from Will’s brother encouraging him to visit the local bar where Birdie worked part-time.
Birdie is a fun-loving bubbly ball of sunshine. She helps wherever she can in the town of Timber Falls and is helping guide Will to understand the ‘call’ without outright telling him what the ‘call’ is, I thought for about 20% of the book she might just give in and tell him, but she did not.
As their romance unfolds, they work through the mysterious "call" that ties them together, with the added intrigue of a family mystery. This low-spice, contemporary romance is perfect for readers who enjoy a slow-burn love story and unraveling family secrets.
Book 1 of the Men of Cooper Ranch series has the Cooper men returning Timber Falls, Alaska after the death of their grandfather. Determined to honour their grandfather’s wishes and fix up the family ranch the men decide to work and live together all four in need of a life change. Will Cooper, the oldest brother is the first to arrive and the first to hear the mountain’s call.
Birdie is the town sweetheart, always the first to lend a helping hand and working multiple jobs to help as many people as possible. When Will comes to town looking to furnish the house, she is the first to offer help. The attraction is immediate and intense between the two.
A well written and enjoyable story with many easter eggs for those who have read previous stories by the author. The legacy of the mountain’s call is well developed and an interesting way to introduce soul mates to each other. Wonderful and likeable characters who have you rooting for them to get their HEA. A cute epilogue finished the story perfectly.
Reading this new addition has me wanting to reread all the previous stories and I actually gathered the books I already own in order to do so. I’m looking forward to the next brother’s story.

Marley Michaels weaves a heartwarming, small-town romance with Mountain Needs a Boss, blending fate, family, and a touch of magic. Will Cooper, a man on the brink of burnout, finds himself uprooted to Timber Falls, Alaska, thanks to his grandfather’s will. What he doesn’t expect is Birdie Walker—an endlessly kind, sunshine-filled force of nature who just might be his destined soulmate.
The chemistry between Will and Birdie is instant and undeniable, but the real magic comes from the emotional depth of their journey. Will’s struggle to embrace his new life and Birdie’s belief in the Cooper family prophecy add layers of tension and hope. The town of Timber Falls is charming, the mountain setting feels alive, and the romance is packed with slow-burn longing and heart-melting moments.
If you love small-town romances with a hint of destiny, strong family bonds, and grumpy/sunshine pairings, Mountain Needs a Boss is a must-read. It’s cozy, swoony, and full of all the feel-good romance vibes! 🏔️💛✨.

Marley Michaels kicks off her brand new series, Men of Cooper Ranch, with the wonderfully entertaining and romantic Mountain Needs a Boss. The Mountain Spirit is up to her old tricks once again, bringing soulmates together, but this time with a twist. When the Cooper brothers - Will, Sutton, Caysin, and Jude - inherit their grandfather's ranch and land on Cooper's Ridge, it is with the condition that they move and live on the land for at least two years. All city boys with fond memories of summers spent with their grandfather, they all return to small town Alaska. When Will meets Birdie - Jill of all trades and town darling - sparks fly. Birdie is aware of the lore of the mountain's prophesy, but Will has no idea. All he knows is that his heart is instantly taken by the sassy and beautiful Birdie - and building a life on Cooper's Ridge might not be so bad after all. Steamy, swoony and wonderfully written as I have come to expect from Ms Michaels, Mountain Needs a Boss is an absolutely can't-put-it-down must-read.

This was an absolutely fantastic start to a new series in the mountain call Stories. This time we are going to learn about another branch of the Cooper family, Wyatt from the previous series is also in this story. Four brothers have just lost their grandfather and told that for them to inherit Cooper’s Ridge, the ranch in Timber Falls, they have to be there for two years. First up, we have the eldest brother, Will Cooper Who is 35 years old, and is ready to embrace his new inheritance meets Birdie Walker in the furniture store, it’s like everything falls into place for him, and now this is his journey in recognising his One. Birdie has Will reading Astors books so he can learn about the mountain spirit without her, actually telling him about it. This book is really entertaining and I loved the way that the characters grew closer together and how the brothers were supportive of their relationship.

New Series, Marley Michaels you can’t go wrong with her Mountain stories. Absolutely Love them. Book One: The “Mountain Needs A Boss”. Four Cooper brothers are called back to Timber Falls, Alaska and according to the terms of their grandfathers will the four brothers will inherit everything - that is: with the stipulation that ALL four brothers MUST live and work the ranch, and get to know the town and people for two years, its all four or nothing! This is the “Call” of the mountain for the oldest grandson Will, and the town “sweetheart” that everyone loves and looks out for Birdie. This is a wonderful, easy, laid-back enjoyable read. These are standalone books but, I’ve read them all and you really feel like you are a member of the family that really knows all the characters. Ms. Michaels is amazing at drawing you into the lives of the characters while you experience their daily lives with them. I’m so looking forward to book two. I highly recommend. Mountain Needs a Boss is Book 1 of the Men of Cooper Ranch series. It's a steamy, OTT, somewhat whimsical, opposites-attract, soulmates romance. Will Cooper is a hunky construction company owner. He is the oldest of 4 brothers who have recently found out they inherited their grandpa's Ranch, land, and mountain in Alaska, but the 4 brothers need to live together for 2 years there Right now they are scattered but all feeling somewhat unfulfilled by life so they decide to go all in. Birdie is the mayor's daughter in Alaska. She is sweet and quirky. She knows all about the Coopers and a mountain prophesy about the mountain calling their mates. When she and Will meet, they are instantly drawn to each other. This couple was sweet. Their meeting was akward, their banter was funny and flirty, their chemistry was hot, and the ending was happy after some drama. I can't wait for the other brothers' stories. This was my first book by this author but not the last.

This is an arc review of Mountain needs a Boss, thank you for giving me the chance to read this book. Will Cooper is on the verge of experiencing burnout and needs a change. So when his grandfather passes away and tells him and his brothers, they have to live in Alaska for 2 years, it’s the change he needs. Birdie Walker has never left the state of Alaska and loves her town fiercely. Which happens to be the town Will is moving too. Birdie and Will have an instant attraction, Birdie knows it’s because of the prophecy, she just needs Will to figure it out too. This is such a cute read, that keeps you wanting more. I love how there’s no third act breakup, hallelujah! There’s a bit of mystery, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the brothers stories, to maybe get some more answers! It’s a great mix between a love story, and a mountain mystery, just enough to want you to keep reading the books to find out more.
Small Town • Slow Burn • New Beginnings • Called Home • Sunshine Heroine • Mystery Family Rivalry
📖 My summary: The Cooper brothers' grandpa had one rule when it came to being passed down the land... You must live here for two years, then it's yours. That's it, that's the only thing said. No explanation as to why or what else to do. - This story follows the four brothers as they move to the place their grandfather and their relatives before them called home. Except there's more calling them there and it's up to them to figure it out. A little Birdie says it could be love...
⭐️ My review: Grumps is my favorite character. He IS the main character dangit! - This was a cute book and a great intro into the series. Gives enough to keep you hooked and curious but also doesn’t leave you frazzled with too much information. I’m excited to read the rest of the books as they come out. Grab your e-copy or physical book off Amazon!
Will and his brothers were all missing something, and didn’t even realize it until they were pushed to make a big move together. Birdie, a delightful ray of sunshine to everyone who knows her, realizes the prophecy and doesn’t fight it. This delightful story about a fated couple receiving “The Call” is a standalone book with no cliffhanger, but it flows with so many characters from previous series. If this is the first book you read, you won’t feel lost at all. If you have read some, or all of the other series about the Mountain Spirit, you will delight in hearing about previous characters, especially that crazy duck. This book has a wonderful, slightly mysterious storyline, with well-written characters.

It is another new mountain man series from the talented Marley Michaels. It is endlessly fascinating to see the number of different ways she manages to twist her signature sub-genre into a unique story. This time the One is already resident in the town and very familiar with the Cooper family prophecy, being a fan of Aster Hollingsworth's books. It is the family that is summoned home from big cities to the family property. I love how the author made Birdie wait until Will figures things out for himself. I quite agreed with Aster; Birdie exhibited far more patience than I would have had. I could see a lot of promise for the future of this series and I will definitely be grabbing the next book as soon as it is available.

This Mountain Needs a Boss (Men of Cooper Ranch, Book 1) by Marley Michaels
This small-town Alaskan romance is the perfect blend of fate, family, and undeniable chemistry. Will Cooper is a man in need of a fresh start, and Birdie Walker is the heart of Timber Falls, always looking out for others. When fate (and possibly a little mountain magic) brings them together, their connection is instant—but the legendary Cooper family prophecy complicates things.
Birdie’s sunny personality and belief in destiny contrast beautifully with Will’s skepticism, making for a charming push-and-pull dynamic. The setting is breathtaking, the romance is sweet yet sizzling, and the touch of mysticism adds a unique layer to their love story.

I loved this book! It’s off to a new mountain with another set of Cooper men and the call of the mountain spirit! This one works a little differently as it’s the Cooper called to the mountain but it’s just as amazing! Birdie is hopeful what she feels for Will is the mountain’s call but since he and his brothers aren’t familiar with the prophecy, she has to be a little extra patient! We get to meet Grumps the donkey who I am sure will provide plenty of shenanigans as the men of Cooper Ranch get reacquainted with the land their beloved Gramps loved so much! This ones off to a great start and I can’t wait to read what comes next!.

Birdie is the mayor's daughter, holds down three jobs and knows everyone! Will and his brothers have just moved to Timber Falls because his grandfather's will stipulated that he and his brothers had to move to the ranch for two years. Birdie meets Will and feels a spark, she's read all the books. She thinks he's the One but wants him to want her for herself. Will has unusual feelings when he's near Birdie but doesn't understand what they are. Also he's busy working with his brothers to renovate the ranch and to get some revenue streams going.

Thoroughly enjoyed the start of this new series from Marley.
Wow, not sure I can put into words how good this book is. This series on the Men of Cooper Ridge has started brilliantly. Will and his brothers find themselves being left their grandfather's ranch on the proviso that they stay for two years before it can be signed over to them. An encounter in a furniture shop between the eldest Will and the Mayor's daughter Birdie, will change their lives forever. As the Call makes it's presence felt, Will discovers his grandfather's story, which helps lead him to Birdie and a future together. I chuckled my way through the banter between the brothers and loved the romance between Will and Birdie. I can't wait to read the next in this series and find out what the Call has in store for Case.
This is the first book that I got upset with the woman in a book because of the way she was, sorry don’t like people like that. Took me awhile to accept the way Birdie is. Will and his brothers inherited the ranch from their grandfather but had to stay for at least two years then left them clues for them to find about family. Will was sent a set of books Aster had wrote about the mountain call of the one, he felt that Birdie was his but didn’t understand why at first until he read the books. He talked to Aster and went through the family tree and matched the books so he knew the journal he was left was true.

Another string of Coopers have been called to their mountain! So this is a whole another series for a whole another Mountain. Don't get it messed up with one of the other mountains, even though all the Coopers are related. So the question is is Birdie really the next one or she projecting because she knows about the stories with how every landowner has found their mate from the mountain calling both of them home? It's a very good read. As we know light conflict. This is a new spin because Gramps has given a stipulation to stay on the mountain for 2 years in order to receive their inheritance! Can't wait. Because 2 years can fly by in a snap.

I am fairly positive I have read every book Marley Michaels has written. I read one as an ARC and had to read everything else. I was smitten! Her books get better and better! Love "buddy reading" New mountain call. Will is the oldest Cooper son brought back to the ranch. Birdie is the town sweetheart and daughter to the mayor. Tropes: Mountain man, small town, soulmate, cowboy, rancher, Alaska, inheritance, mental and physical health, OTT instalove HEA romance.
A huge thank you to Marley Michaels and Booksprout for providing me with an eARC book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I adore Marley Michaels' books. Each one is filled with love - a fated one as well as the love of friends and family. This one is no exception. I also adore the animal mascots that come into play. It'll be fun to see where Grumps the donkey fits into this mountain.
If you're looking for some feel good romances, soul mate based where the pull is inescapable, that you can read as a stand alone or binge the whole series then this is definitely it for you! I highly recommend all of the mountain stories! There is a tiny bit of open door spice, usually towards the end.

This is the first book I have read by this author and after reading Will Cooper and Birdie Walker’s story in Mountain Needs. A Boss ( Men of Cooper Ranch #1) I’m wondering why that is. Will and his brothers have inherited the family ranch in Timber Falls, Alaska. But in order to claim their inheritance they must all live together on the range for two years. From the moment Will and Birdie meet sparks fly , they have an instant attraction and she knows they are meant to be but Will is not so sure…… Can Birdie convince Will to give love and Timber Falls a shot. I loved the characters, the town and the story.
